Dirty Ducts Cleaning & Environmental

I was just very happy to have them clean. They didn't skip corners, they're very thorough, very fast. They just orchestrated it like I couldn't believe. They wore their masks, and put up plastic barriers. It was great teamwork, I don't know. They had very skilled people. They seemed to know how buildings were structured. They just seemed educated about houses. They were very fast.

On time, polite, professional, before and after duct photos, very clean, fairly quiet considering nature of job, took less time than planned.

Excellent experience. I had needed to have this done for years, but hadn't found a company that would clean all vents and all returns (most companies clean just the vents and 1 return. The returns are where all the dirt is!). Spoke with them at the recent Madison Home Show - even got a discount! They estimate by the square footage of the house, not by the number of vents/returns. The serviceman, Mike was prompt and friendly. He explained what he'd be doing and started his work. Even took before and after pictures of the vents/returns. Showed them to us during the process and then left us a copy of the photos. He worked quickly and cleaned up after himself. The estimated time was 3 hours and he was done in 2.5 hrs. My vents & returns are now clean! Thank You Dirty Ducts!

The individual arrived on time and did good work. They supplied before and after photos of the ducts, but not on the spot. They did not want to accept payment on the day of the service. We received a hard copy bill a week or so after the cleaning. They do not accept credit cards nor do they have a way to pay online.

We spent $445 for that work. They just did a really good job and we were really impressed with them. They were very clean. The guy left a screwdriver, so we called them and told them to come and get it, but we never heard back from them. We were really impressed with them because they did a really clean job.

The work went very well in both asbestos removal and duct cleaning. The workers were friendly and professional and did an excellent job in both respects. One duct was missed and the company was very willing to return to complete the job. Overall I am very pleased with the work.

It was a very cold day and the service person had to bring the hose in through a basement window. He seemed efficient and was very polite and concerned about keeping the house warm while the work was being done as the furnace had to be off for a short time. The entire work was done in about 2 and a half hours. He took before and after pictures of the return ducts and was not able to print them at our house -- he thought it was because the printer in his truck was too cold, so he mailed them. He sealed one opening on the furnace back up better than he found it and generally did a good job of cleaning up after himself.

I was very impressed. I gave a slightly marked down grade of a "B" in quality because the guy missed a few vents, particularly on the 2nd floor in my kids bedrooms, where some of the rooms had more than one vent. I told my husband I should have called them back, suspecting that they would have returned to take care of it, but he would not allow me to do so. Since that is NOT Dirty Ducts fault (again, I think they probably would have returned, since it was an honest error to make), I still give them an "A" overall, and would hire them again, and likely will. The day the guy was here was sweltering hot, btw, and he worked HARD. I was very impressed with his work ethic!

Overall, awful and horrible. First, let me say that Justin, who came and gave the estimate, was kind and thoughtful and thorough. The prices were very high, but I was willing to pay steep prices for lead-safe work. After the work was completed, however, I found a trail of (lead) paint chips (same color and layers as the paint they were removing) from the work site to the front door. Another work area was not cleaned up (lead paint chips everywhere). They also left some of their work equipment behind. This whole project was about eliminating lead paint exposure and instead, they spread lead paint chips all over the house. I am still incredulous about the whole thing. I called Justin, on a Saturday afternoon, after I was home and saw all of the mess. He responded very quickly -- and came to the house and did (what seemed to me to be) an incredibly thorough vacuum job with a HEPA vac. Let's say that they didn't trail lead paint all over the house -- one part of the job they did was fine. The other part was incomplete and very unsatisfactory. I was hoping to have much more work done with these folks and now am looking for others. I would like to believe that this was a complete fluke, but it was so awful I can't imagine using them again.

Very well. Professional and thorough. My one wish was that he had offered to remove his shoes inside as we are a shoe-free home, but that was not a major concern.

Prompt and polite. Knowledgeable and on time. They took pictures before and after each vent to 'prove' how bad things were before, and good after. Excellent idea!! It was a normal duct cleaning - they cut a hole in your furnace ductwork (don't worry - its necessary and they fix it later with airtight tape) and hook up the super-powerful vacuume. The truck is loud, so if you have close neighbors or kids sleeping, I'd recommend scheduling around that. Then they go around to each vent and cold air return with compressed air and a few tools (like some sort of air-whip) to stir up the dirt/dust/etc. and the huge hose hooked up at the furnace sucks everything out to the truck. Once all ductwork upstairs is cleaned, they drill small holes in each branch off the main supply line in the basement and clean those just like they did for the registers upstairs. Then they clean the main. The only complaint I have was that there were some metal shavings in my carpet from when he drilled the holes in the supply branches in the basement (I have a finished basement). I wish they would have put a canvas dropcloth down or something to protect my carpet. On an up note, the guy found mold in my furnace since my condo had been vacant for a few months. He had the mold mitigation stuff on his truck and treated everything right then and there. All around a good experience.

The mold remediation work and the duct cleaning work were done on time within the schedule they promised.

Everything went very smoothly. I worked with April Chapman, and she was helpful, friendly and professional.

Had the tile analyzed by another environmental company (it was a state government service that actually did the analysis). Dirty Ducts estimate was 30% lower in price, and they specified exactly the same procedures. The work was done according to their estimate and safety procedures, cleaned up well, no problems.

They were very professional and personable at the same time. Their price was good too. My experience with them was very good.

They were very prompt, professional and responsive with each step of the process. It turned out that we did have (less than 1%) asbestos content in the insulation, and they took all expected precautions with sealing our home, setting up containment devices, and a very thorough cleanup. The entire crew, the dumpster delivery truck, and the vacuum truck were all waiting on our street before the appointment time, so that they could ring the doorbell and begin promptly -- I could have set my watch by their arrival. The entire containment and collection process had been explained and described to me beforehand, and there were no surprises. A fair amount of dust was kicked up outside by the process of vacuum collection of the vermiculite; they were extremely thorough with their cleanup and hosing down of all my plants and driveway, and they spent an additional 30 minutes or so vacuuming the dust that found its way into my screened porch as well. Our upstairs hall and affected rooms were left cleaner than they'd been found. I would recommend to them that they warn future clients of this service of the amount of dust kicked up outside -- my neighbor did not have all of his windows completely shut, and got quite a layer on his porch sills. Our house is in an older neighborhood (hence the vintage insulation), and the houses are pretty close together -- this would have been helpful. Overall, a prompt, complete service for a good price (comparatively) professionally executed.

The previous owners had a dog and lots of hair was removed. The before and after pictures were nice as well. They had the best price in town as well.

Dirty ducts representatives were friendly, arrived as planned and offered the best price for the job. They explained exactly what needed to be done and what we could expect as an outcome. They did a great job on all of the work.

Overall I was very pleased. They were punctual, efficient and informative. The before and after photos were shocking -- my vents were FILTHY.

Due to the fact that the ducts had probably never been cleaned in this house, the job took at least two hours more than budgeted. But the work was completed without extra cost or complaint. Before/after pictures taken were very useful and a full description of work done was very appreciated.

When I returned, he was done with the loud work, and was just cleaning up his mess--which he did a great job of overall. There was quite a bit of dust left behind in one of the bathrooms, but overall, the dust was very minimal considering what the job was! And our ducts were quite filthy. He showed me the pictures, and it was disgusting. The people who lived here before us had a large dog that shed quite a lot and I knew from the amount of work I had to do moving in that they did not vacuum much EVER! They also owned a cat. The dust and dander were significant. Plus, this is an older house, and the crud level was just disgusting. The before and after pictures really make you feel as if every dollar was very well spent---we were breathing THAT???! I do think that he missed one or possibly two ducts, one because my husband had books stacked against it (and it was a second duct in that room) and the other for a similar reason. I am sure if I had called them and said something they would have returned, but I just never did.

They provided a prompt estimate of the job over the phone based on my measurements. They were able to quickly schedule the service and showed up on time and were done on schedule. Their work appeared to be quite thorough and professional.

Dirty Ducts was very prompt with both estimates and the completion of work. Prompt estimates is the #1 criteria for hiring a contractor in my wife's estimation. The technicians came in, set up their equipment, sealed off the house, and worked in a very efficient and professional manner. They removed all of the asbestos accessible in the basement, and sealed any that was unreachable. The basement was clean, and the debris was removed and disposed of properly (in double-sealed trash bags). I was very happy with their work.

The house had been owned by cigarette smokers for 18 years. We are not smokers and we are very sensitive to cigarette smoke. Even after painting the walls with KILZ and removing the carpeting, it still had a faint odor. They came to the house and took pictures of the air ducts and then showed us photos of a recent job he recently had which also was owned by smokers. He explained very clearly the process that was involved and showed us the equipment that be used. He plugged the holes he had made in the air ducts with rubber gaskets for the smaller holes and then sheet metal with aluminum foil tape for the larger holes. He used a truck mounted vacuum cleaner and a pressurized system to clean the ducts. He took before and after photographs of the supply and return air ducts and printed them out so that we could keep them for reference. He asked us if we were satisfied with the cleanliness and whether or not we were pleased. There were a couple of areas that we requested to be redone. He was very obliging and very careful with our furnishings. He also took great care to clean up any debris that was left by his work process. The quote was a little different than other air duct service providers. When I called to make the appointment, they asked what the total square footage of the house was. Other contractors had counted the number of air ducts in the house and based the quote on that. However, the quotes were comparable.

Very well - worked very hard for over 12 hours to get the job done.
