Josh provided me with a proposal for gutter guards, which I didn?t know much about. He was very honest about the product he installed called Rhino Gutter Guards. I have a two story house with a few one story levels. He explained that a great way to save a few bucks would be to install the gutter guards on the 2nd story due to their height and clean out the lower levels a few times a year since they are easily accessible. He has always been honest with me about his products and service. The gutter guards work perfectly. He and his crew did a great job once again. David L.

On day one they removed the shingles on the both the north and south ends of the house. Once the old shingles (2 layers) were removed they immediately installed the new ones. They informed us of the status of the base plywood, which was in excellent shape and didn't need to be replaced. We were so impressed that at no time was this base wood left exposed before the new synthetic felt, water and ice shield, valley tin, pipe boots, gutter edging and shingles were replaced. On the third day the tube sun tunnel was installed and on Friday completed all the final checks and cleaned up the property of nails and any other items that needed to be disposed. They were very courteous and very easy to work with and appreciated any suggestions from Josh to update issues that needed to be done to be up to code.. We are very pleased with the results and my wife loves the new sun light in the bathroom. We would highly recommend "Motto and Son".

The final bid was very competitive. However, the responsiveness to the inquiry did not stack up to the competition. The visit to look at the roof was rescheduled and then the arrival was late. The visit was a walk around the house then a phone call from inside the truck while parked in front of the house. Not what I expect and nearly as customer friendly ans any of the competitors.

The experience was very good. Before and after pictures were provided prior to and when the work was finished (the miracle of cell phones). The work was done timely. I was kept informed during the process and the workers were polite and professional. The finished product I couldn't be happier with!

Josh was recommended to us as a roofer (remodeler) who actually works with his guys at the job site and pays attention to details to make sure things get done right. The person who recommended him also said he was really good at working with brick, and our remodeling plans included brick work. We chose Motto & Sons based on that recommendation. Josh lived up to and exceeded those high expectations. From the beginning, Josh was a really good listener and ideas person. In the planning stage he met with us and the designer multiple times, including at the job site, and listened to what we had to say about our ideas and goals. During that stage and throughout the entire project, we often had ideas that were not fully crystallized. Josh had a knack for understanding what we were looking for and coming up with ideas or solutions that we usually found to be just right. Josh also had a knack for getting things done, and getting them done well and on-time. During our big project, other providers would encounter problems and quickly give up, saying "it can't be done" or "we'll have to do it some other way". Being on the job site, Josh would learn of it, come up with a creative solution, and show the other guy how to get the job done as we would have liked in the first place. This happened multiple times. Also, Josh was sensitive to our timing goals and did whatever it took to make us happy at critical junctures. When another provider who was involved in the remodeling dropped the ball and it looked like our Thanksgiving guests would come home to a house in disarray, Josh came to the rescue, moving heaven and earth to find a concrete provider and working overtime to see that the area was cleaned up and put back in place! That was a huge effort on his part and we were so thankful he was working for us. Josh and his team were neat and professional. They took measures to keep the work area as clean as possible during the work and then cleaned up if necessary afterwards. Josh and his guys also always put shoe-coverings over their shoes or boots when they stepped into the house, even when I didn't think it was necessary. Once Josh saw that workers from a different provider had not done that and had tracked some dirt into the house - it concerned him so much that he bought an extra box of disposable shoe-coverings and put it by the door so the other providers would use them. I should also mention that the vehicle Josh used at the job site was new, clean, and equipped with its own bathroom facilities, so none of his guys ever had to ask to use our bathrooms. Josh is likable and personable -- easy to communicate with and relate to. My wife doesn't normally like dealing with "guys" who come to the house to fix things or whatever, but she was at ease when dealing with Josh. Others on the Motto & Sons team also worked at our home, including Len and Zach. They too were professional, courteous, and highly skilled, and lived up to the standards we had seen set by Josh. -- Stephen Jensen Note - cost information is omitted from this review.

From start to finish, Josh and his crew were very professional. They left the property as clean, if not cleaner than it was when they started. They didn?t damage any of the landscaping that was around the house. The roof looks amazing and they were nice enough to walk me through the entire process and explain why they were doing things. They may not be the cheapest out there but their workmanship second to none. I would hire them again without a question.

Was very responsive, performed the actions necessary, and follow-ed up to ensure satisfaction. Experience was perfect and stress free.

Sent out requests for quote on deck. Stated up front this was a quick turnaround as we wanted full use of deck for the soon to arrive summer. Contractor set a time to come out. After he was late, tied up at a previous job, I went back to work and Contractor came out to take measurements and called with suggestions. We had a couple of changes on our part, couple of emails. We were set to compare his quote with another and get it done. Unfortunately he never did get back to us with a quote.

This was easy and FAST. Mr. Len Motto came to the job site. We received the estimate with in 48 hours. The siding had to be ordered and the day it was delivered to him he and his helper were on site. The job was done extremely fast and was well done. He pointed out some issues we were unaware of and arranged for those repairs as well. This is a wonderful company and should I need any services they provide in the future I will not hesitate to call them.

We agreed to more than we neede (our fault), but we asked for them to replace the rubber covering on the flat part of the roof. They agreed, but it was only much later that I discovered they had replaced it with long strips of asphalt. Who the heck does that on a flat roof in Wisconsin? Especially when they agreed to use rubber, then didn't. However, I am partly to blame because I didn't check the work until much later, so didn't give them a chance to fix it. Still...should i really have bird-dog something so basic?

Josh and Zak were very professional. Everything was smooth and easy process. If I had questions or concerns, they were answered. The electrician and other subs he used were over the top amazing. I would recommend Motto and Sons to anyone.

The crew showed up early and made short work of it. They did a great job and left no sign that they had been here, other than the fantastic new skylight!

Motto and sons were punctual and proficient with their service. They are knowledgeable and skilled professionals. We are very pleased with the results.

Called them for a quote, took 10 days to return the call to tell me they could not do the work. Did not use.

We were hesitate at first until we read Angie's list and found this contractor. We were very impressed with his bid and the way he presented what would need to be done. Very thorough, let us know everything. We were overly impressed with Josh Motto and his crew. They were VERY hard working men and did a tremendous job. I could not thank them enough. After being very frustrated with two roofing companies that did not follow up on their promises (I have submitted accurate reviews for both of them). I sent an e-mail to Motto and Sons Construction detailing my frustration and explaining my problem. Even though I sent the e-mail at 7:00pm within 10 minutes of sending it I received a phone call from Josh at Motto and Sons. He listened to me about what my concerns were and said that his brother would be out to my house the next morning. Having heard similar from two other roofing companies I had a bit of a wait and see attitude, but was impressed that he called me so quickly. The next morning as promised a gentleman come to our home, did a thorough inspection and left briefly to get supplies and a co-worker. They had the work done by 1:30pm. Not only did they do the work, they sealed some areas in our gutters that needed it and offered to place the extra shingles in our attic above the garage for my wife and cleaned up all of the debris. All of these guys went above and beyond, true professionals. I will highly recommend to anyone!

I called for a quote on August 7th for a leak that I'm experiencing in my roof, and he came out that same day to look at it. He called me back a few days later to explain how difficult the job would be, but that he would be checking with his supplier that next day to see if they had what he would need. That was the last time he was proactive and called me. Since I had not heard from him, I called him back around 8/19, and talked to his partner. His partner described that he went with Josh to look at my chimney and that it would be a nightmare to fix, but Josh would call me back within a few minutes to talk about. I have not heard from him yet, so I give up with these guys. Either you want work or not.

I asked for an estimate on roof repair after trees had fallen my house and garage during a storm. The appointment time was 9:30. I arrived at 9:25 and the man from Motto & Sons had already stopped at the house, knocked on the door, and left. I saw the truck heading down my street away from my house and had to flag it down to get him to return. I apologized if I had the wrong appointment time written down (I had not). He asked if I had any damage and I, one by one, I had to point out the various areas to look at. He made no initiative to check for damage himself, didn't even get on the roof until I pointed out that much of the damage (on the 2nd story) couldn't be see from the ground. When on the lower roof (he would only inspect the upper roof from the 1st story roof) he focused on the large hole and told me that the insurance company would only pay to patch the hole. He did not address the other smaller holes, about 2-4 inches in diameter that were completely through the roof deck and into the house interior. He did not even lift the cover we had placed down to cover the holes! He didn't inspect for water damage from water that came in through the holes. He did not inspect damage to the garage roof. After the looking at the roof for no more than 5 minutes he said he would take some measurements and get me an estimate. I went into the house to grab a piece of paper and pen and when I got back outside, he was gone. I have no idea why he made the appointment with me, it was clear from the start that he did not want to be there. He was rude and condescending throughout the entire "inspection". I had taken time off from work to run home and meet with him yet he treated me as though I were wasting his time. I now have a contractor who had done a thorough inspection and is working with my insurance company to get all repairs done fairly.

Josh Motto was very friendly and responsive as were all of his employees. They started and finished as promised and kept us informed every step of the way. The work area was clean and kept free of debris. The roof looks fantastic and the price was very competitive.

Motto and Sons Construction was so rude, crabby, and disrespectful. They told us that they didn't want our job and was going to bow out of it. They were too busy to give us a quote and seemed like they didn't want to do any more than what the insurance company would pay for. If they were booked solid and had said that they just didn't have any availability anymore this season, that would have been reasonable and understandable. However, that's not what they told us. They told us that they only had a couple of slots left open and they didn't want to spend their time bidding against other contractors for the job. It was like they were trying to bully us into saying, "Oh, okay, well I guess if you don't do quotes and your almost full-up, then we better grab one of those slots and book the time for you to come do the work." Yeh, right, I was about to do that... NOT!! They wanted us to take them on blind faith and contract them out to do our entire job without getting quotes from them or any other contractors. Wow, someone is awfully full of themselves and may find their large workload all dried up some day. I can tell you that I won't be calling Motto and Sons Construction for any of our remodeling jobs now or in the future!! And, I have a really big mouth and will be sure to tell everyone I know all about my experience with Motto and Sons Construction and will let everyone know how rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional this company is. Not to mention that it seemed like they were trying to get away with charging more than they should. Poor business decision on their part!!! I already called our insurance adjuster and put a complaint in to them about this contractor and I'll be contacting our municipality, since we had a lot of damage in this area. They will think twice about having their insured use Motto and Sons Construction for any of the roofing and repair jobs that are needed in this area!

Roof shingles and two sides of house vinyl siding were hail damage. Additional two sides of house were replaced at my request. Response for quote was excellent. Contractor worked with insurance company to finalize settlement on claim portion of project. Pricing was fair and competitive and the quality of workmanship was superb. Excellent site management and cleanup and respect for property. Work crews were permanent employees who took pride in the overall performance of their craft. Additional work of gutter and Rhino gutter screens installation was timely and professional. Expectations of working with a local family owned business were fully met. We have confidence in the quality of work performed. Peace of mind comes with the local long term assurance behind the warranty. Overall experience had the feeling of dealing with craftsmen of the past whose pride in workmanship was the motivator.
