I had some very bad leaks in my front steps. Paul was prompt in coming out to do the estimate and in scheduling the work. He approached the work from both the exterior and interior. Initially, the exterior repairs made a significant impact but there were still some places where water came through, so he applied a product that seals and also hardens and strengthens when it gets wet to the interior of the steps. We think the problem is all (or mostly) solved, but if not, he'll come back until it is. He's a pleasure to work with, thoughtful and reliable.
Description of Work: Repaired leaks in front steps and did some brick repair/re-mortaring in my basement under the steps.

CREAM CITY WAS CONTACTED by EMAIL as requested in his Business Description on his ANGIE"S LIST page. He offered a 10% discount to Angie's List members and had an A rating with 35 reviews and did color matching which was one of the things I was looking to have done on some stamped concrete. Another Angie's List Contractor who does have the time or take the time to reply with a quick email or a phone call. Four for Four all have A ratings and all have disappointed. They make an appointment and don't show, show and don't get back to me one way or another or just don't bother to return calls.

I don't want to bash Paul. He really seems like a good guy and a good mason, and his ballpark estimate was very reasonable. But he really dropped the ball on us. A month ago he came out to see our house and said he could be available to do the work in a month. Just talked to him and he says he can't do it for another 4-6 weeks. He never sent a real estimate, although I followed up with him several times. I now have to find another contractor who can do the work earlier. It's a long story, but we need this work done before another contractor will take care of water damage to the inside walls, and in the meantime we're sleeping in the office. It's been this way for over a month. Who knows how long it will take to get someone out here. Beware! Contractors are glad to take on all the work they can, but I think they are all way over-booked. Insist on getting dates in writing early on. Don't wait for them.

I am really sorry that you feel I let you down. I was completely unaware of your current living conditions. While I have been behind on estimates in August since I have been working really long hours (although getting caught up now), my workload has been extremely heavy since I originally looked at your project. When I told you that I would not be able to get you scheduled for at least a month at our first appointment, you indicated that was too long and planned to hire another contractor so I did not proceed with an estimate in July. When I heard from you again several weeks later, a number of additional jobs had been contracted. I did tell you I would do my best to get to your project as soon as possible, but I didn't feel it was fair to move your project ahead of other customers that were already booked by that time. Again, I apologize for your inconvenience and wish you the best in finding another masonry contractor. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this further. Sincerely, Paul

Paul arrived on time and was very personable and professional. I was waiting to hear from him before contacting other contractors for estimates. I was ready to give him the job if the price was fair. He first told me I would hear from him by the end of the week. A month later, he has not returned several phone calls or emails. I guess I would expect a common courtesy of telling me if he wasn't interested in doing the job, which is going to cost us over $2,000 minimally to repair.

I am sorry to hear that there appears to have been a miscommunication. I double checked my records and found that the estimate was sent out to you on July 28, 2013 via email. I attempted to forward the estimate to you again after I saw your posting, but received a message that the email could not be delivered. Perhaps the email address I have in my file is inaccurate. While I do not recall any unanswered telephone calls or emails from you, I sincerely apologize if the miscommunication was on my end. After applying the Angie's List discount, the total estimate for your project was just over $500.00. Please feel free to contact me to confirm your email address if you decide you would like to proceed with the repair, as I would be happy to forward the estimate to you. Respectfully, Paul

It went fantastic! Paul was exceptional and the work is beautiful- you can hardly tell that a front door was event here. Paul hand picked out the lannon stone to match the existing stonework and we couldn't be happier. He communicates very well and is professional. The price was very reasonable for the work performed. I will certainly use Paul again for future projects on the house.

It was excellent, we were very pleased with it. They were very professional, the owner, Paul Moscisker is a pleasure to work with. We will use him for all our future concrete work and I recommended him to our lawn care company for when they do landscaping projects.
Description of Work: They replaced a patio after taking out the old patio. The foundation wasn't put in correctly 10 years ago by the builders. They found out they didn't put the gravel underneath the foundation. They did tuck pointing on two buildings and repair on another building. We got a 10% Angie's List discount.

Paul's estimate was less than was quoted. He quickly came, did the job with accurate matching filler, then left before I knew he was here. Paul also gave me what I thought was an honest assessment of another prospective job. He felt it was not worth the expense. Future erosion would still occur if caulking was applied.

He was very timely. He was super nice. He was very easy to work with. As far as quality of work I didn’t feel I got my money’s worth out of them because I think we overpaid for what we got. It was just him the owner. He was overpriced. In a particular area he did a nice job. He was very responsive as far as timeliness and when he showed up. He was always here when he said he was going to be here. He seems very professional.

Thank you for your comments, [member name removed]. However, I thought it was important to point out that my estimate for the brick repair and tuckpointing project was only $720.00 (10% Angie's List discount applied to the original $800.00 estimate). I had Cream City Masonry do tuck-pointing on approximately 50 feet of sill and repair a crack in the brick wall beneath the sill. I got a couple of estimates 1 being Cream City. I chose Cream City because Paul came to the door and we walked outside where I pointed out the work I wanted done. Unlike the other contractor who I never saw but only spoke with on the phone to have him come to give an estimate. I don?t know when he came and left the estimate in my mailbox. Paul looked at my job and pointed out a couple of things. He then took my contact information and within a day or 2 he e-mailed a quote/contract which I could print, sign and mail my 50% deposit. I trusted Paul because of his A rating on Angie?s List, I sent my deposit on a Friday and the following Monday he was contacting me about possibly starting the next day, but due to unforeseen circumstances and weather he was unable to start that day. It didn?t really matter to me because there was no real rush. To make up for not being able to come out earlier he asked if he could come that Saturday, I had no plans and agreed. H e showed up shortly after 9 AM and started. Due to house settling the job was more involved and took longer then anticipated. He had to trim all the pieces of the sill to get the correct pitch and get them back in place. On completing the work he cleaned up all the old concrete and put it on his truck to haul away. He had forgotten his copy of the estimate and said he could send me the bill and I could mail him the balance. Or if I had a copy I could pay him then if I prefer. I printed out another copy which he marked ?paid in full? and gave the balance. He did not try to add extra for the added time or work. I was very satisfied with his work and would recommended him to anyone looking for masonry work. I might add the weather conditions were less then ideal to work in that day. There were passing rain showers and a constant wind. The wind brought in a cold front. I give Paul a lot of credit for enduring the conditions and completing the job that day, THANKS Paul!!! Bernie

SEE ABOVE in Services performed. An excellent job.
Description of Work: My entire front of home sill on a brick wall was leaning toward the house. Paul removed all the sill and reset it with the appropriate pitch away from the house. He also replaced a 10 foot section that was too thick to be put back in, and didn't charge a nickel more. Now all the sill on the front of the house is pitched correctly and will drain rain water away from the foundation. Excellent job. Knowledgeable, professional and fast. He showed up the next dry day after all the rain we've gotten this week, and finished the job in 2 days. Will recommend him to family and friends. His number will be filed for future work on my home! We were extremely impressed with the level of expertise, the amount of time and effort he spent answering our questions and the different options that were presented. Previous estimates ranged from "every brick needs to be replaced right now" to "the foundation will fail in 10 years if we don't dig it out entirely right now," none of which was substantiated with actual evidence or explanation. Cream City Masonry came in and talked over all of our concerns and determined that although more extensive work might be necessary down the road, the structure is sound and the bricks are in good condition for cream city bricks of this age. He gave us estimates for immediate step crack repair, as well as a more significant project involving the basement below grade, and various steps in between. He spent over an hour with us, even though he was well aware that we hadn't yet purchased the house and that it would be several months before we would instigate the repairs. He didn't charge us a dime. When we purchase, he is the only person we will consider working with.
Description of Work: We requested an inspection of interior exposed cream city brick on a property we are considering purchasing. We had several other estimates from other companies, and they were all over the place. Cream City Masonry was extremely responsive, punctual and incredibly helpful.

I am a property manager in Milwaukee and Waukesha. Paul came out to a property we manage in Milwaukee to give me an estimate on some brick work around the foundation of the house. He was on time, thorough, and very helpful with all of my questions. We did a complete walk around of the house and went over exactly what needed to be done. Paul got the estimate to me and we got the work approved right away. It was a very fair price for the work that needed to be done, and even though this was a small project Paul made sure everything was completed properly and on time. I would recommend Cream City Masonry and will definitely call them with any further issues we have.

We were very pleased with both the estimate process as well as the work done. Paul took the time to walk around the house with us and get a good idea of the work which needed to be done. He also was very helpful as to what work should be done now, and what work might be something to think about in the coming 5 years or so. Other estimates we had were for a lot more work than we asked for and they spent a fraction of the time Paul spent in looking at the work that needed to be done. Paul was able to start our job not too long after we signed the estimate. We had to wait for the weather to cooperate a bit. He scraped out the caulk that had been placed in the mortar joint openings and replaced it with mortar in a matching color. We had developed a problem with our chimney leaking and he sealed up some cracks in the chimney cap. We appreciated his approach of trying the obvious /easy solution first and, should that not work, we can try something more labor intensive like replacing the chimney cap. The work looks great. Paul is very easy to work with and we are very glad we took the time to get an estimate from him. We will use him again in the future.

The job went well from beginning to end. A one-day project that was completed as Paul had estimated. He did a great job and was the low cost provider compared to three other contractors who provided estimates. He did everything that I asked for at a very reasonable price. Other estimates were much costlier and included work that I did not ask for. The chimney looks as good, or better, than when we bought the house 18 years ago. I will not hesitate to contact Paul for any other masonry work in the future.

Process took a little longer than planned as one of the workers had an emergency and the weather didnt cooperate. So the project took a day and a half instead of just one. But everything was cleaned up and covered before the storm hit and Paul was back the next morning with his helper and the work completed before lunch. Planter looks great. Already plan on using him for another project next spring. Very professional and personable.

Paul did an excellent job and was great to work with. He explained what work needed to be done. He came when he said he would. He did exactly what he proposed. After he finished the job, a problem arose. When I called him to tell him about it, it attitude was - I'll be there tomorrow and I will fix it. He did show up the very next day, as promised, and stayed as long as he needed to in order to fix the problem. Paul is a professional who stands by his work.

Outstanding! This is the second time we've used Paul and Cream City Masonry this summer. The first was a rear raised patio. Paul completed the current project quickly, even thought there was a day of rain. This completed project turned out just as great as Paul's efforts for the patio earlier.
Description of Work: This project was to replace the front concrete sidewalk as a paver sidewalk using the same paver bricks as was used for the rear patio. Two different brick colors were used - an ironwood/dark for the borders and panel separators and the medium colored ironwood for the center portion of the sidewalk panels. Paul had to remove the concrete and the "slurry" used for mud-jacking the sidewalk twice in the past. He worked within the grass edges of the old sidewalk without intruding into the grass.

From start to finich everything went very well, I was very impressed with Paul Moscisker and Cream City Brick, the service provided was friendly, professional, courteous, skilled and resonable. Due to a family situation the carpenter I was using had to change the date of service, Paul was flexible to the change with no hassle. On the day of service Paul and his crew did everything possible to keep the dust (from cutting birck) down to a minimum, including covering the area with plastic to keep the area clean. An excellent job was done cutting the brick to create the opening, my carpenter even commented on what a good job it was.
