I called Paul and asked for an estimate. Paul called me back promptly and talked over the work with me. He got back to me the same day with a price I thought was very competitive. I would definitely have gone with Paul, but I had the work done with a family friend. Nonetheless, I was happy with the communication, quick response, and great price.

The door step turned out to be 18" thick concrete and took the crew several hours to remove and clean up. They worked past dark to get the work done and honored the original quoted price. Paul is very responsive and great to work with.

I cannot say enough great things about this business! Paul, the owner, is a very straightforward and honest guy. He is responsive to all messages and calls, which is very important to us. Paul personally came to our house to assess the situation--something that doesn't happen often with business owners! We felt important and valued, even though our job was on the smaller side. The job itself was performed in a timely fashion following the estimate. The workmanship was PHENOMENAL. One of our cream city bricks had to be replaced and you literally cannot tell which one it was. In fact, you can't even tell where the work was performed period! The brick has been restored to it's natural beauty. Very impressed with their work. We will be using them for our future projects and will recommend them to anyone we know! Excellent service.

I had questions about the efflorescence on my brick chimney. Other providers gave me a large quote over the phone without looking at what my concern was. Paul made some time to come out and see what was happening and informed me that it was very mild and only needed basic cleaning which I could do myself. I really appreciated his honesty and that he took time to understand the problem before making recommendations.
Description of Work: Provided recommendations for resolving efflorescence on brick chimney.

I was puzzled by how birds were able to enter my house, but eventually learned it was from a hole in the chimney. Needless to say, I wanted this fixed quickly! I first called a chimney cleaning/repair firm well known in this area. Long story short - they were a disaster!. So I called Paul, whom I had used previously to do work on my house. Unlike the previous firm, he totally understood what my issues was, and promptly came out to give me an estimate. Once agreeing to the price (it was a difficult spot to get to, way at the top of the chimney), he came out within a few days and fixed it! No more birds in the house! I appreciated the way he was able to squeeze me into his busy schedule, and the promptness in which he responded to my emails/phone calls. Paul is reliable, dependable, and completely professional. I would use him again in a heartbeat!

Paul explained that the mortar was in good shape and it was just a cosmetic issue, and it should just be monitored. He also gave me a heads up on the chimney flashing; that it needed to be replaced by a roofing company. (I wouldn't of known this otherwise). His honesty and professionalism made an impression with me. I would hire him in the future for any masonry work.

This is the second time I have employed Paul, and his work was just as good as the first time. He had to do some creative work to make the new area of stone blend into the old stone work, and have the mortar also match. I am very happy with the work he did. There was a minor incident when removing the old balcony post which resulted in some damage (given this is a very old house and neither of us knew how the balcony posts were attached, I do not think it was his fault). However, Paul repaired at promptly at his cost, and he really wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the results. This incident made me think very highly of him - it is easy to be a good contractor when everything goes well, but the true test is when something unexpected crops up like this.
Description of Work: I removed a door from the side of the house and replaced it with a window. Paul found stones to match my house, and filled in below the new window with stones. He also replaced a lintel above a door, and removed/patched a spot where a balcony had once (long ago) attached to the house. This required some creative work on his part to make the new stone work blend with the old.

I was concerned about some cracks in the mortar of my stone house. I called Paul and he promptly came out to do an estimate. I knew one window lintel was going bad, and he evaluated the others to see which ones really needed to be replaced, and which ones could last longer. I really appreciated that he did not try and pressure me into replacing more than necessary. He also pointed out a glass block window in the basement that had cracked, and offered to repair that. As soon as the weather allowed, Paul came out and worked on the house. He worked for several days until it was completed. He cleaned up after the work and did a wonderful job matching the color of the mortar. He was extremely professional, and I would/will call him again when I need more work done.

This is the second time we have had Paul do work for us. We contacted Paul in November, knowing that we may or may not get the project done before winter depending on temperatures. Well, this was the year of the Polar Vortex so it didn't warm up sufficiently until April, but throughout the process Paul was in contact and as soon as the weather was warm enough he started our job. Paul is always a pleasure to deal with and we are so pleased with the new sills. I have since referred him to a neighbor. He is a one man + apprentice operation, so I recommend allowing time for him to get back with you as he is usually hands-on with projects during the day.
Description of Work: Replace 18 stone stills that run between the siding and decorative stonework on the exterior of the house. Each sill is at least 2-3 feet long.

Paul was extremely helpful and professional through every step of the process. He provided accurate estimates while we were still in escrow which helped us negotiate repair credits with the seller. He provided us with expert advice which helped us make decisions on how to best proceed with the work that needed to be done. My handyman noticed additional areas in need of repair and Paul added the additional work with no problem. He emailed before and after pictures of the work completed on the roof. We're very satisfied with the work completed and will definitely work with Cream City again.

He had quoted me a price and yet he charged me lower than the price. His responsiveness was good. His quote was lower than he had anticipated. He was honest enough to say that it did not take as long as he thought and it did not require as much reconstruction as he thought. I was satisfied with his work. He had told me that he would not be able to get back to me for a couple of weeks and then he got back to me sooner than he thought. He did the work quickly. He was like in and out, and it was finished. It was not a big job.
Description of Work: I used Cream City Masonry, LLC, for a small job of masonry around the garage and he was lower than his bid, he matched the color to the existing color that was on the garage.

They did a phenomenal job! We took out an exterior door and had them fill that with [unclear 08:32] stone because the rest of the house is [unclear 08:34] stone. He did a wonderful job. He actually did such a great job that my neighbor across the street came over and had him do work at his house. My neighbor said, "I used your masonry guy because I saw how well he did on your house. So before he was finished I came over and he also did work on my house." I'm like, "That's pretty d*** good." We had it done at the end of the summer. He was punctual. I got an estimate right away. Since it was an exterior job he came and went. If he wanted to come, if he was in the area he would just stop and do some work and then come back a couple of days later or whatever. So it wasn't a big deal. He did a great job. I would definitely recommend him. I actually am going to use him again to fill in a hole. We're actually going to take out an air conditioning unit that was in the wall that old owners had put in. So I will be calling him back to do that job.

I explained my problems to Paul, the owner of the company, and he knew exactly what to do. Paul explained what he was doing and why, every step of the way. He alerted me to other possible problems and at my request repaired them as part of the job. The work lasted a number of days, and at the end of each workday all materials were neatly stacked and the area on my front porch (where the largest repair job was) was cleared and clean. Paul and his apprentice worked on some very cold Nov.days, but never made excuses or shortened their work day. It was a pleasure doing business with Paul and Cream City Masonry LLC. I am very pleased with the results. The repaired and tuck pointed areas look terrific and I felt that the price was reasonable considering the amount of work and skill required. I would gladly hire this company again and would recommend it to others.

There was a rough opening in the poured foundation (door jamb and door were removed) that led to a storage space that had been filled with concrete. Some of the concrete jutted into the basement. Paul and team closed the opened with concrete block and reinforced it with rebar after removing the concrete that extended into the rough opening. Not only did Cream City Masonry clean up the concrete that was removed to clear the opening, but also removed the concrete left from previous attempts to clear the opening. Very professional and would definitely use them again

Paul removed the ledges that were not pitched properly and reinstalled them. He also covered up any gaps and holes below the ledges and bricks with cement that matched the exisiting cement. He cleaned up any mess that was made. The ledges look great. You can hardly tell they ever needed to be repaired. If another mason job comes up in my future, I will not hesitate to call Paul.
Description of Work: I have cement ledges around the perimeter of my entire house & garage between cedar siding and brick. Some of the ledges have shifted as the house settled and the cement under the ledges was crumbling away, leaving a gap underneath the ledge where water and bugs were getting into the house. Paul came out as promised to take a look at the job and give me an estimate. He was very approachable and friendly. I know nothing about masonry and did not feel intimated around him at all. He explained what needed to be done in terms I understood and answered all of my questions. Once I received the written estimate I mailed in a deposit and Paul came out that week to finish the job.

The enclosure isn't being built after all, due to restrictions from the city on increasing the footprint of the sign. But I know from my extensive dealings with Paul over the summer that he would have done an excellent job.
Description of Work: I contacted Paul for an estimate on a design I did for an enclosure on a subdivision entrance sign, which included tapered pillars with bluestone caps. Paul was outstanding to work with - responsive, prompt, enthusiastic and honest and creative. He was always on time when meeting me at the site, went out of his way to research and source materials, provided a very fair estimate, and generously shared his masonry and construction expertise with me. I would highly recommend him.
