Hank Stern Carpentry & Handyman Services

He said he was going to come to my home and give an estimate and he never showed up.

Hank was very responsive from the beginning. He is an excellent craftsman and very conscientious. He arrived exactly on time and worked through until the job was complete. He is willing to do as little or as much as you want. In my case I took out the old doors and jams and Hank did the rest. We had a good time talking and all in all the experience couldn't have been better. One of the doors was sticking for some reason a day later, and Hank came over immediately and fixed it. I will definitely be using Hank again, and have already arranged for him to do more work on our house.

Hank came on time, came up with ideas for a project that I had been putting off for years, and even put up with me helping him. One of the projects required him to get on our 80 year old asbestos-cement shingle roof, which is very fragile. He figured out a system for getting on it without hurting a single tile.

I think he is very honest about what he can do and what he can't do. He comes, he doesn't subcontract, and it's just him. So it was sort of what you see is what you get and if he wasn't comfortable in doing the job, he would let you know that he wasn't comfortable which I find that's not always the case with people. He was prompt and came back when he said he would and got the job done. I didn't feel it was really over priced but I didn't feel like it was a great deal either.

Aside from a minor delay, all went as expected.

We use Hank on an ongoing basis. Every year we have a variety of carpentry projects that he completes for us. As stated before we would not use anyone else.

We didn’t end up going with him but he was on time and really nice. He told us that the project might be something we could do on our own so he told us what to do. It was a limited interaction but I thought he was professional, helpful, and honest.

Arrived later in the afternoon. Brought all his own equipment (ladder and tools). Completed the work on the roof in about an hour. No further problems and that was over two years ago. We were so satisfied with his work that we asked him to maintain or replace all mail boxes in our subdivision. The subdivision board is responsible for mailbox maintenance under the by-laws. Hank has been equally dependable.

Everything went well. Mr. Stern is a knowlegible gentleman and a very pleasant person. We like doing business with him.

Hank came to my house within hours of my initial phone call. He gave me a verbal quote to do the work and asked me to let him know if we accepted his proposal. I gave him the go-ahead call on Friday, and he was at my house first thing Monday morning. He had done some of the preliminary work at his house and finished installation relatively quickly. He kept checking with me to see if it was what I had envisioned.

Everything went very well. Mr.Stern is an affable gentleman and a pleasure to work with. We also discovered that he and we knew many of the same people through school and church connections.

He is great. The quality of his work is excellent. He is trustworthy and reliable. His pricing is fair; you get good quality work for the price. He is here almost every year for outdoor carpentry work; he does a lot of projects for us.

Mr. Stern is a very capable, knowledgeable and skilled carpenter. He was responsive, sought owner input, and made many helpful suggestions. He works quickly and with accuracy. To work with him on this very difficult project was a pleasure. I admire him and his work and hope that he will be available if I ever need carpenter services in the future. The final result is excellent!

He called me back and told me he will only do carpentry work. He was supposed to call me back the same day and did not. I feel like him being rated under handymen is misleading.

Hank responded promptly to my initial call and request for a quotation. He hand-delivered his estimate to our home. I spoke with him on the phone and he gave me a lead time of 3 weeks to complete the work. I returned the proposal of work with a deposit and Hank called me a couple of weeks later to schedule the work. He completed the work in one day, building two sturdy porch steps and hauled away the old rotten wood.

Very well. Mr. Stern did exactly what he promised.

I had a hole in the ceiling of our basement where there used to be an elevator. The floor over the area was sagging badly and needed replacing, but with a closet sitting on top of it in the room above, this was nothing I could tackle on my own. I called Hank and he came out the next day to take a look. He made suggestions on how we should approach it and scheduled a day the following week to begin. I purchased the materials ahead of time, and Hank called to let me know what time he could be out. While I helped out, Hank did most of the work and was very efficient. We were able to get the biggest part of the problem solved the first evening and finished up the following afternoon. He made suggestions but always asked my opinion. He also was a good listener and was willing to do things in a manner that I was comfortable. All in all, working with Hank was a great experience and I will definitely hire him again!

As I am a weekend warrior handyman, Hank suggested we work together on the project in order to save me some money. He coached me through those parts I could do, assigned some homework, and he took care of the rest. I learned a lot, saved money and got the job done. Hard to beat that.

He came to the house to take a look at what needed to be done and measured for the materials that I needed. He then went to the flooring company and matched materials. The laminate matched perfectly, but the noseguard didn't match, so I took it back and special ordered it. In a few days, it was in and he went to pick it up. We eventually reconnected and he did a beautiful job on it. There was even a rough edge that the contractor left and Hank was able to cover that with laminate so that it all matched.

I would highly recommend Mr. Stern. Our attic had two separate areas, and we decided to do install wood flooring, and do it in two separate jobs. He also came another time to do drywalling. He was very easy to contact, and always returned our calls promptly, and was able to schedule the work in a timely manner. The job was very well done, and the price was reasonable. Mr. Stern was trustworthy, and very nice to work with.

Went great Hank called us back and stopped over when he said he would. He did good work and was friendly. I would use him again.

Hank returned my call promptly, and scheduled the appointment within a few days. Hank s very knowledgeable, affable and efficient. This skilled person finished both jobs in 90 minutes. I am totally pleased with the results.
