It was a long process, but that was par for the type of work being done. Chris and I accommodated each other's timelines, with some agreed-upon delays on both our parts. I had to have electrical and plumbing work done between when Chris gutted the walls/ceilings and when he could put up the new drywall, etc. Chris is an excellent communicator and never kept me waiting. He and his crew were VERY hard workers and I liked the way he supervised his crew. I have animals, and more than anyone who has worked at my house, he was very careful about closing the gates and doors, and making sure his crew did, too. The work done on my house created a lot of dust, but Chris cleaned everything up multiple times, so I could slip through that part of the house during the times he wasn't working. He was very neat with piling up the refuse in my yard and having it hauled away. Chris was very helpful in many small ways, offering suggestions and helping accomplish things I needed done related to getting my house back in shape. I would work with Chris again any time and will hire him for future projects.
Description of Work: Originally I wanted just the ceilings in my bathroom, kitchen, and walk-in closet replaced. After consultation with Chris, the project morphed into a complete gutting of the bathroom, plus redoing part of one wall and the ceiling in the kitchen, as well as part of a wall and the ceiling in the walk-in closet. Chris also did a knockdown wall treatment in the kitchen to make the look consistent with the new wall. He set the new bathtub, did a tiled surround around the new tub, built a short wall at the back end of the new tub, tiled the wall between the kitchen sink/counter and the cabinets above, replaced some of the woodwork around the bathroom window and door, did a knockdown wall treatment in the bathroom (as well as kitchen), primed everything, painted the walls and ceilings in the bathroom and kitchen, installed a medicine chest and towel/tissue racks in the bathrom. He also installed insulation in the bathroom where none had been before. The new part of wall and ceiling in walk-in closet were also finished off with a wall treatment and priming and painting. Anti-mildew treatment was also sprayed up in the bathroom ceiling before he put the new drywall up. Chris also let me put a bunch of junk from my basement into the project-generated pile of refuse that he had hauled away. He helped me by disconnecting two stoves and having those hauled off for me.

Chris is a great guy and gave up a hunting trip to do the work in my home. How much more can you ask? Chris told me that he works for habitat for humanity and that made me eager to hire him although I had some lower quotes. As a painter, he was professional and timely. I thought he did a superb job and would hire him again.

The problem with the room was significant water damage to ceiling. At our request, Chris prepared two estimates, one for the ceiling only; a second for the entire room (panelling, fake ceiling beams, textured paint - design straight from 1977). We decided to go for the entire room. Chris's estimate was reasonable - middle of three estimates, highest was much higher; Chris's was a little over the lower estimate. We went with Chris because explained the work far better than either of the other two contractors (including a second trip to the house to answer additional questions). Chris and his crew started work on the day we agreed; showed up every morning at the same time; and worked hard every day until the job was done. Cleaned up tools and materials every day (which we greatly appreciated - we have three young children). Chris communicated well with us - called with questions; returned messages quickly. The job involved a few small unforseeable complications - all of which were resolved to our complete satisfaction. Chris was very attentive to the quality of his work. He wasn't satisfied until we were. We are very pleased with the result and enthusiastically recommend Mud Slingers to anyone needing quality drywall work.
Description of Work: Demolished, hung drywall, mudded, textured, and primed the walls and ceilings (including 1/2 30degree vaulted ceiling) in approx 200 sqft room. Work also included clean-up inside and outside.

Chris did a very good job on the painting. The woodwork was all painted white, which was a putzy job. In the center hall alone there were 7 doors and the moldings. In the bedrooms and bathroom there were windows, doors and moldings. Chris painted one coat and did not like the way it looked, so he gave the woodwork a second coat. It really looks very nice now. If you have ever painted woodwork, you would know that if it is not painted right you will have brush marks and it will look bad. Was very pleased with the work he did. He was very neat and cleaned everything up as he went along. I would definitely hire him again.

Chris was great to work with; he either answered the phone or returned calls right away. He was very understanding when I had to cancel an appointment at the last minute. Chris was on time for appointments and was willing to work with me on the price. He and his team cleaned up the work area every day and asked permission before leaving materials on site over-night. They hung drop clothes from the ceiling with painters tape in order to prevent dust from spreading throughout the house and always used drop cloth when priming & tecturing the walls. Last but not least, the new drywall looks great!
Description of Work: Mud Slinger's hung drywall then taped, mudded, primed and tectured 3 walls in our home (over 50'). Chris and his team also installed drywall in our kitchen where I'd removed a built-in cabinet and patched two other spots that were not in the contract.

I am grateful we went with Mudslingers. Chris was very fair and did several things without charging us at the end. Chris's follow-up and follow thru were amazing and appreciated.
Description of Work: Removed painted paneling due to water damage. Replaced several studs, insulation and trim. Installed new insulation, drywall and trim. Painted wall, trim and ceiling. We were out of town the week the work was done. Chris called regularly with updates. He took pictures every step of the way to explain exactly what he did. We will definitely use Mudslingers again if the need should arise. Mudslingers was not the cheapest quote (nor the most expensive). It was obvious Chris was hardworking and honest.

Response from Mudslingers
first off my first bid was not 50% higher than other contractors, I would say about 10% higher. There was more work that was to be done. They then wanted just the first floor done. I also do a quality check on every job, different lighting shows different touch up spots or misses. I feel really bad if that's the impression they have of my work. They didn't complain about any work I did and didn't charge for.

Very smooth. The project took a little longer than expected, but if you saw my attic, you would not be surprised.
Description of Work: Chris is the nicest dry waller you will ever meet. He did a great job on my 3rd floor attic conversion. Lots of odd angles and it all turned out great. A few weeks after the drywall went up, a few of the seems cracked. May be due to the extreme cold/hot the attic has been through this winter. Chris is on his way out next week to fix the new cracks at no additional cost. That's good business and a good person! -Matt Shorewood, WI

Initially, we contacted Chris to get an estimate for repair in three locations around our house. Chris and a co-worker arrived at our home within 24 hours to assess the required repairs. Within a day or two Chris called with a quote for service. My husband and I collected about 3 other quotes and ultimately decided to go with Chris because of his suggestions on how to best correct our damaged drywall, price, and availability. Work was scheduled to commence about 5 days after we signed the work contract. Chris and Alex arrived at our home on a Monday morning around 9 and completed the first phase of work. I was home with a new born and they were very polite asking if they could run the vacuum, told me when they were coming and going, etc. The project took about 4 days(what we were quoted in the beginning)and all three locations looked great when Chris and Alex were done. The house was fairly dusty when the work was completed-to be expected with drywall work-and they did try to clean the floors prior to departing. I still had to mop several times but not sure all the dust could be cleaned up with a single pass. I would definitely call Mud Slingers to do more work around our house.
Description of Work: Chris and Alex scraped and resurfaced the dining room ceiling and walls, bedroom ceiling, and replaced a 4x4(approx.)portion of our ceiling in the stairwell.

Chris came at the end of one week to give us an estimate and we signed a contract with him by Sunday and paid half down. We had read several reports about how people had felt comfortable leaving Chris alone in their homes so didn't hesitate to give him a key. He started work Monday morning and was there every day including Saturday morning until the job was finished. He was very neat with his work, always leaving any of his tools out of our way. We couldn't even tell he had been in the house most days except for seeing the progress in the hallway. By the time he left on Saturday, we were negotiating with him the start date of our next project, the nursery. He returned our key to us that Saturday even though we planned to sign another contract with him already the next day. It wasn't necessary but reassuring. I would say that communication is a strong point of this contractor. At one point he accidental broke the light in our hallway but replaced it. We wouldn't have even known except that he told us.
Description of Work: Our existing back hallway leading to the backdoor and basement was in need of repair. We had torn off the wood paneling only to find crumbling plaster in some areas and several cracks. Chris agreed that it would be okay for us to drywall over this existing plaster instead of tearing it down. He and his crew prepared the walls by removing the glue left behind from the paneling, patching and floating out the crumbling plaster area and preparing the area around the old milk can pass through (for lack of better word). He drywalled over the plaster, taped and mudded the seems and the walls look great. The ceiling wasn't as bad. He repaired a couple cracks and finished with a texture coat that matched the existing texture on the ceiling.

Chris accomplished the job in about a week. He worked through Saturday and most of Sunday to stay on schedule. There were a couple of unexpected challenges that Chris had to address -- some moisture issues and the walls of the garage did not appear to have been properly prepared with primer, making Chris's paint job fail to adhere in places. But I never felt in the least bit concerned. Chris kept me apprised of issues as they arose. He used his expertise and high quality craftsmanship to deliver a beautiful final product. Chris is a joy to work with. His commitment to excellence and customer service is admirable.
Description of Work: My garage was unfinished. Chris and his helpers installed a ceiling; it included a trap door. Extensive caulking needed to be done to fill in large gaps and tape had to be replaced where it was falling down. Chris then painted ceiling and walls. He also added wood trim around the garage floor.

Excellent. Ceilings look brand new. They started out with a piece of my ceiling already on the floor caused by a roof leak. They were up to their knees in blown insulation. They had to bag up everything and get rid of it along with removing some chicken wire stuff that held the old plaster. They then had to reframe the room along with repairing the drywall they also primed it for me so we were all ready to go. It was great working with them.
Description of Work: Mudslingers removed, framed, reinsulated, drywalled, patched, and primed two ceilings. It was very difficult work and they did this with no complaints. Very punctual and fair with pricing. I had to leave him alone in the house and he was very trustworthy and cleaned up after job was done.

Chris did a great job in creating my husband's vision of a room for him to "putz around" in. He built two walls, dry walled them, finished and painted all four wall, (the other 2 walls were block foundation walls) installed a drywall ceiling and painted it. He added a half bath and completed the interior of it - walls, ceiling and vinyl floor. Except for a plumber which we had, he provided or recommended all other workmen. All the work done was exceptional. Chris and his crew are all very friendly, courteous and clean. At the end of each workday, Chris would clean up as if the room were going to be used that night. How refreshing to find a man of Chris's character today. Professional, understanding of our needs, eager to please and very friendly. We will definitely use Chris again for any work we need done around our house and highly recommend him to others.

It went very well. First off, Chris is one of the most personable people I've ever met. He was fun to have around, and tolerant of my kids and dogs. He did a great job, and wanted everything to be just right. He said repeatedly he wanted me to be 100% satisfied. I especially liked the job he did staining and installing trim in my kitchen - it really looks nice.

Originally it was thought that the ceilings could just be repaired, however, they were in such poor condition that they had to be replaced. Despite the job being more complex than anticipated, it went well. Work was completed within two weeks and Chris and his helper Alex cleaned up after themselves. It was a positive experience and we were consulted each time there was a potential problem. Considering that the house is over 80 years old, we expected that there might be problems. It now looks beautiful.

I met Chris through Jesse Belk, a painter. Chris made a recommendation on how to fix the cracks in the ceiling of the Bay in my living room. I was very pleased with the work when it was done. He also did some patching in the rear hall. There was one wall that had pealed a number of times and the paint was chipping off the wall. Chris patched the wall and you can not even see where it was peeling anymore. He did a great job, fixing that wall. He was prompt and very pleasant to talk to. If he was a little late, he would call. Covered the furniture and always cleaned up when he was done.
Description of Work: Repaired cracks in ceiling of Bay in living room. Had cracked in a number of places from water damage. Chris cut out a piece of the drywall on the ceiling and replaced it. Then patched it and painted it. He did a wonderful job. Very patient and came back a couple of times, until he was satisfied that it was done right.
