They were there when they said they would be there. They started and finished the work on time.

They were awesome! Dale came out and helped determine what was needed. He was very knowledgeable and let us know what we needed to be done. He was "overkill" what we needed, and he advised exactly what needed to be done and how to do it. Very highly recommended.

Great...they told us how to fix the grading problem that was contributing to the water problem in our basement. They did not charge us for the advise even though they didn't get any business out of it.

This is the most ethical contractor I have worked with. Although he was originally engaged to repair water leakage in basement block walls, he determined that the source of the water was above ground. He made many visits to my property and worked with the condo association to inform them of the necessary repairs required. It was with water testing of the structure in one corner that it was determined the water entered along the front door roof line. With his expertise he saved us a considerable cost that would have proven to be unnecessary. He could just as easily excavated and resealed the basement walls. The building would have continued to leak. At the end of the day, he was only paid for water testing the building which found the leak at considerably less cost. He was considerate and extremely knowledgeable. Needless to say, he was honest. Not always that easy to find. I would recommend him to any consumer. He is a credit to his trade. His employees were here on two different days to water test the building at the roof line and at the brick line. They were friendly and courteous and certainly knew what to look for both on the exterior above ground and in the interior basement block walls.

We recently purchased a home and discovered we had water coming in the basement. We called 3 companies to see what we could do about this problem. The first appointment was with Dale Dobbe at Basement Specialists. He informed us that we didn't need his service, that all we had to do was get some soil and improve the grading. He also told us that just in case that didn't work (and he was pretty sure it would), he gave us the phone number of someone to call who can inject a substance into the cracks from the inside of the basement wall and that would be considerably cheaper than doing the work on the outside. It was so refreshing to communicate with someone who actually was interested in solving your problem even tho it meant no money gain for him. In this business you sometimes wonder who is honest and who is wanting to do unnecessary work. I believe Dale Dobbe with basement specialists is honest. I cancelled the 2 appointments with other companies and will be ordering the soil as recommended.

We met with 3 basement contractors. Dale (Basements Specialists) was courteous, knowledgeable and honest. He sold us what we needed and delivered exactly what we expected. His crew was courteous and professional. They worked wth us to establish a work day. They arrived on time, completed the work in just a few hours, cleaned up after themselves and left. Overall, a very positive experience.

Dale, the owner came out. Did an inspection of our basement and the outside of the house. Explained what was causing the basement flooding and said it would cost about $4,000 to $5000 and it was work that needed to be done by a contractor not him. Didn't charge us a dime. The last inspection said we needed the works, sump pump, new drain tiles, waterproof the walls....$10K at least. You don't find this kind of honesty often in business anymore. Dale presented to my home on time, and was available the following Monday after a call the previous Friday (that should have been a tip-off how this experience would go). After spending leass than a minute in by basement, and only a cursory visual inspection of the symptoms, he proclaimed the job required a several thousand fix, involving the removal of part of the driveway and basement floor. Two other contractor also came to look, and both provided DIY solutions, which totaled less than $500.00. ll to the consumer.I would not recommend these guys to anyone, based on my experience that conformed what many had stated before. They over sell to the consumer.

Everything went great. Very quick and efficient. Only thing that could have been better was to clean out the sump pump better afterward to remove stones and concrete debris

Mr. Dobbe came to look at my foundation. Based on what he saw, he said I needed a structural engineer - left and sent me the name of a person in the mail. I received four other estimates and none said I need a structural engineer. I asked a friend who is a housing inspector for the city to look at it, he also said I did not need an engineer for my particular problem. I contracted with a company not on Angies' list.

The owner (Dale) was able to stop over with a day or two of our calling after we found we had water coming into the basement. He thoroughly explained how drain tile works, and gave a specific proposal on what his team would do to resolve the problem. The initial timeline was to get the work done between the middle and end of April, but they were able to get us on their schedule before the middle of the month. The workers showed up on time, explained the work they were doing, answered all questions that I had, and cleaned up after themselves completely. We were extremely happy with Basement Specialists' services. They explained in detail what I can do to improve the grading on the side of the house that was experiencing issues. We would definitely recommend Basement Specialists.

Dale Dobbs came to my mother's house because she thought she had a problem with blocked drain tiles not draining into the sump. We've had a large amount of rain recently and it was a perfect time to check for this particular problem. Dale was very professional. He inspected the basement and the sump where we thought there might be a problem. He said he sees no reason to fix any problems on the interior. He did suggest we put more soil around the outside perimeter of the house to prevent water standing next to the house and wicking down into the foundation. Otherwise everything was fine, and we really appreciated his honesty.

I called Basement Specialists Inc. due to water leaks in my basement. I had started (but not finished) some landscaping so I knew part of the problem, but did not know where the new leak came from. Dale called prior to arriving and did a thorough inspection. He confirmed that landscaping would take care of the first issue, and found the source of the new issue. I now have to call my roofer back to repair the flashing on the chimney which will resolve the new leak. Dale gave me very good advice on how to complete the landscaping, change the downspouts, and resolve the issues without expensive basement repairs. I would definitely call Dale again should my issues not be completely resolved by the landscaping. He was very professional and didn't try to sell me services I didn't need.

Have cracks in basement walls. Company came to review. Provided a tutorial on how basements are constructed and the normal conditions that occur over time. Checked all walls to see if plumb. Found walls okay. Suggested not doing anything about the cracks. I am impressed with his knowledge and professionalism in not trying to sell work that he felt was unneeded.

From estimate, to the expeditor's visit and the work day everything went great. They were a half hour late on the start date for the job, however they finished the job same day, found a way to get the product into the basement,( steel poles for basement wall support) without damaging any existing paneling or flooring. Office staff was also very good. Easy to talk to, answered any questions we had and worked with us on scheduling a date where we could be there. All around, a definite A+ company.

I got him off of Angie's List. I'm very happy with him. They couldn't have done anything better, as I view it now. They were very professional. They were in and out in two days, and they did a fantastic job.

Company was very responsive and professional. Dale was on time and adjusted his time to meet me per my needs. Quote seemed fair and he recommended other alternatives, which is very honest.

He determined it was not a problem with the basement, but with water from above grade so I wouldn't need his services. But, he took the time to show me what needed to be repaired and adjusted with my gutters, and showed me why the water was coming in. He was very professional, and I would recommend Basement Specialists Inc. to anyone looking for someone to fix their basement problems.

Scheduling appointment was easy and professional. Received info ahead of the appointment (a plus) Dale Dobbe arrived, but suggested I contact his referred Structural Engineer and then call him - had to ask for a verbal estimate. Didn't seem to be too interested in getting my business - no follow-up.

My problem was that after every substantial rain storm I would have a trickle of water run from the basement wall to the floor drain for several days. Basement Specialists did an evaluation of the problem by punching into the drain tile in each corner of the basement to see if there were any obstructions in the drain tile. They found an obstruction in the draion tile on the wall that always leaked water and recommended replacing the drain tile on that wall. We agreed and they did the work over 2 consecutive days. They took out the old drain tile and some dirt and replaced with new drain tile, gravel and concrete. They cleaned up very well and the basement has not had any water leakage even after heavy rain now for two year. I would hire them again in a heart beat. They really know what they are doing.

Dale was an hoest professional and I would call him again and highly recommend him to anyone needing a basement specialist. He was prompt and did't charge me for coming out....Call him....he was great

Mr. Dobbe, inspected my basement wall problem, suggested a straight forward solution. I am a registered Professional Engineer, and I know his solution was conservative, but prudent and cost effective. The work was scheduled, expertly done, and completed in the time promised. The crew was efficient, neat and courteous. The clean up was outstanding.

Margie confirmed my appointment in an email which also outlined their business philosophy,the fact that they were prepared to give an immediate estimate(so many firms can make you wait up to a week)and the phone numbers of agencies to perform a ratings check of contractors in general.I found this very refreshing and helpful.Dale arrived a few minutes early (very OK with me). I explained my concerns and had photos of the area after a recent storm. Dale checked the wall inside and out and advised me it was a grading issue and proceeded to explain, in detail ,the materials I would need to remedy it myself! Who does that?! He spent a lot of time answering my questions AND I got a tutorial on efflorescence and the effects of salt run off in addition to advice on working with my neighbor. I found Dale to be extremely knowledgeable and quite personable.I am a better informed homeowner due to his visit and would not hesitate to recommend his company or to call on him again.Thanks Dale.

Dale is incredibly knowledgable and very candid with his opinions - I appreciate both. While I was prepared for this to be a big job, he seemed to have a negative view of the project overall, and I'm not quite sure why. Given similar techniques and assessments from other providers, I decided that I'd choose someone with whom I had a better rapport. The bid from this company was slightly higher than competitors, but it was by no means unreasonable. In summary, you should definitely have Basement Specialists take a look at your project, but they may or may not be the right fit.
