Services we offer
Basement waterproofing. Wall bracing. Piering. Foundation repair. Crawl space encapsulation.
We were having seepage problems in the basement plus water pouring in through our window wells. Though another company quoted us slightly less, we felt that Badger Basement Systems was the safest bet because of their long list of stellar recommendations. Plus, we felt their prices were VERY competitive. From start to finish, working with everyone from BBS was truly a breeze. The best part is that now we're not afraid when it rains!

The installation was done in 1 day and the cleanup was wonderful, I didn't have to do a thing. I was very pleased with the whole process and I would use Badger and the wonderful workmen again in a moment if I had anymore basement water problems. If any of my neighbors or friends are ever in need,Badgers Basement Systems would be my first reply to them.

Sales person was prompt, very knowledgable and helpful. It took about a month to schedule the service but it was in the middle of flood season. Print materials, contracts were helpful and easy to understand. Phone calls/questions were answered promptly. Work crew was on time and friendly; work was completed on time and in a shorter time than estimated. Clean up, however, was a big problem. Items that had to be disconnected for construction were not reconnected properly and caused further water mess in my basement. All debri was not removed without a follow up phone call. Areas of the carpet that were not involved in the construction project were left waterlogged and filthy and it was up to me to figure out how to remedy that, even though I complained several times. They say they "clean up" when the project is over, but be prepared to spend 3-4 days of your own time and labor getting things cleaned up. The office staff was pleasant until I called to complain; then they became cold and curt with with me. For $8000 I expected a better finish. I can't yet report if the waterproofing actually worked, as it hasn't rained.

Very well. The consulant who came out to give us an estimate was professional and explained the system in terms I could understand. He gave us a number of options as what to ahve done. The work crews arrived on time, were also very professional. The work was completed in two days - which was great. The work is guaranteed for life - the waranty even transfers to future owners which will help when we sell the home.

Dan arrived on time and was very affable. He took measurements, digital photos, and took copious notes. Then he provided several solutions ranging from cheap to expensive, and followed up within 24 hours with an itemized written quote. He also followed up with our city to make sure his recommendations complied with local code. Quotes were in line with our expectations.

The project went very well! The crew came as scheduled. Explained what they would be doing and did a nice job.The first part of the project involved trenching the basement floor along the two walls. This was the dusty and loudest part of the work since they use electric jack hammers. They used shop vacs to help control the dust but it does travel throughout the basement. My only comment is that no matter how they try and control the dust...and they did a good job of trying...you will still get dust. A fine concrete dust. Make sure you cover everything. They did a great job cleaning up the area they worked in but you will still have dust. Nice people to work with, greast job!
Description of Work: We had water leakage along 2 basement walls. We also had one wall of our foundation being forced out of plumb. I liked BBS's approach to managing the water problem rather than trying to re-waterproof the basement walls on the outside. They trenched along the 2 walls (about 80 feet total) and removed old interior drain tile. They then installed new drain tile and their system for removing water from within the cinder block walls. The out of plumb foundation wall was reinforced with adjustable power beams to prevent it from further movement. The two man crew were very nice, doing the job in 2 days. They answered any questions we had. Very Nice!

The installer was on time, did a good job, and cleaned up well. The company followed up with a questionnaire, which I returned, noting that I was a little disappointed with the screen not being very well built and installed. I was immediately contacted by the company who volunteered to send someone out and do it right, which they did. I was very pleased with this professional and courteous treatment. This is a very responsible company.

We had a significant amount of snow and rain in the spring of 2008. We spent every morning, noon, and evening cleaning water from a very, very leaky basement. I finally called Badger Basement and Fred came out to take a look and give an estimate. Although it was a very expensive fix, I can't thank them enough for the work they did. In two and a half days the job was finished. I believe it was the next week that all h*** broke loose in the Madison area as far as heavy rains and flooding. Our basement was dry throughout the entire rainy season. In fact neighbors across the street and on a hill had water in their basement and we were completely dry. I swear by the work they did and would recommend them in a heart beat. You won't be disappointed in working with them or the work they do.
Description of Work: Installed water guard (drain tile) around the perimeter of the basement as well as through the middle of the basement floor. They also installed their triple safe sump pump (2 electric pumps and 1 battery back up) as well as water vapor wall panels.

It took more than two weeks just to get this company out to look at our project so that they could do an estimate. I explained on the phone and to the man that eventually did the estimate that we did not want traditional egress well window units installed. He seemed to agree and understand when he was here and took lots of pictures and measurements. A week later he emailed us an estimate for traditional egress well window units to the tune of $9,500.00. I was more than disgusted and dissapointed as I had held off on our project for a total of 3 wks waiting for them to come to look and then to deliver the estimate only to have them try to sell us expensive units that will not work for us anyway and we were clear we didn't want. We have found another contractor who will do the job including retaining walls for the outdoor landscaping without any wells for about $5500. I was also annoyed that when I called to book the appt. for the estimate they sent me a bunch of literature on their basement finishing system - which I told the receptionist I wasn't interested in - just getting the windows done. Also a second copy of this same literature was sent again once they actually finished the estimate. I'm not talking about a little brochure, but a big pack of glossy books on the subject. Guess I know what they do with all that extra money they get from upselling people stuff they don't need.
Description of Work: We are installing 2 egress windows in our basement. The grade of the soil on the side of the house where both windows will be installed slopes sharply away and down from the house. Because of this, we wanted to remove some of the sloped earth and install the windows above grade. We were clear both on the phone and in person that we did not want a traditional "scapewell" or "bidwell" egress window well unit. In fact, if you had tried to install one, the back of the unit would end up sticking out the back of the slope. There is clearly no way one would work for our application.

Response from Badger Basement Systems
We just wanted to clarify a few things this is what our records show The customer contacted us 7/29, and due to her schedule conflicts and needing an appointment after 4 pm we couldn’t agree on appt. date until the 7th, she then made appointment for the 12th. We do tell customers that we also finish basements when setting appointments so that if they are interested we can allow enough time for the appointment. When the appointment was set we sent out our pre-mailer which contains: •Personal Profile So the Homeowner knows who is coming to their home (includes Picture and description of employee) •City Specific References from our customers •Dry Basement Science book- To help you better understand why your basement is wet or damp, and to show you the right and wrong ways to fix it! August 12th Patrick arrived and, could not leave a written estimate that day due to the unique requests of the homeowner. Patrick then discussed it with owner at Badger, and emailed her bid to her on August 17th. The bid he gave was what he felt was the best solution for her situation, we feel very strongly about giving bids for only what we know will work. We do not install anything that we won’t stand behind 100%. We highly recommend installing wells because they can be maintained and are structured to withstand all of the outdoor elements. We were also concerned with completely exposing the frost wall if no well was used. As stated below in an email conversation between Patrick Hack and customer. “The reason for the wells and keeping the grade built up, is to keep the frost from getting under the foundation and heaving in the spring, when you see a exposed, and partial basement, they will have a 4' frost wall built under them during construction, in a full basement there is normally a 8" footing under the wall, and backfilled with several feet of soil. Your basement could be checked for a frost wall, by excavating along that wall. An inspector will normally catch that during installation of the egress windows, or when applying for the permit.” Our email history with the customer -----Original Message----- Sent: Monday, August 17, 2009 11:17 AM To: Patrick Hack Subject: Re: FW: egress window Thanks, I got both messages Patrick. "We will still need to use window wells to keep the outside grade built up along the end of the house for frost protection in the winter time." I'm a little concerned that you think we still need wells for the windows. You are not the only contractor bidding the windows, but you are the only ones to tell us that. We are really not interested in buying a standard eggress window well package (very expensive $$), and we don't believe it will work well for our application. If it were truly necessary to keep the grade built up in order to avoid frost protection, how do you explain all the many homes built with partial or full exposures in their basements?? -----Original Message----- From: Patrick Hack Sent: Monday, August 17, 2009 4:37 PM Subject: RE: FW: egress window The reason for the wells and keeping the grade built up, is to keep the frost from getting under the foundation and heaving in the spring, when you see a exposed, and partial basement, they will have a 4' frost wall built under them during construction, in a full basement there is normally a 8" footing under the wall, and backfilled with several feet of soil. Patrick Hack Badger Basement Systems Patrick also offered a competitive price match on Total Basement Finishing. Patrick also new she was finishing her basement so he sent her a book on finishing the basement. He felt this book would be useful in helping her address important issues that arise when finishing a basement that can be overlooked, before she invested the time and money in her basement finishing project. This is different than the book she got in her pre-mailer. We are sorry that she felt we could not meet her needs. Customer service is our number one priority. We strive to make all customers happy, whether they choose our company or not. We were sorry to hear that she did not feel comfortable with choosing our company to do her work.

It did take awhile for them to have time to come out and actually do the work due to the volume of customers they have. That would be our only complaint. All other services from the initial estimate, phone calls to the office with questions, and the quality of actual work done was excellent! We were very impressed with the two men who did our job. They were so hard working, knowledgeable, and just plain nice. I felt very safe with them doing such a disruptive, expensive job in my home. I would have gone with no one else. (and we researched other companies). They were truly professional in every aspect of the process.

1600 is what we have to pay for the super dehumidifier. He was very nice and cordial. He looked through everything and took me with him to show me stuff. At the end he wrote everything out and gave us different options and what they would cost. He said that he was not going to call us until next week because he didn't want to put the pressure on us. They have a six month no-pay program.
