I purchased an Angie's list Big Deal for siding maintenance and repair that was offered by Kirch Improvements. I had siding installed previously by a friend of a friend who didn't finish the job, but took my money. Another contractor came in to finish the job, but didn't correct the mistakes of the original installer. Specifically, the top row of siding was not installed correctly. I needed someone who was willing to clean up after someone else's mistakes. I also had a laundry list of other items I wanted done. When I made contact with Kirch Improvements, I was set up with an appointment for an estimate within a day or two. The company's owner, John Kirch arrived exactly on time. I presented him with my list of things to do and he explained to me what would need to be done to complete the job and that he would email an estimate to me. I was especially pleased that he didn't cringe at the thought of repairing someone else's mistake. I appreciated the fact that he wasn't at all critical of my situation and he genuinely seemed willing to take the job. He was polite and courteous and easy to talk to. After he left that day, it occurred to me that I would like him to give me an estimate to install a storm door. He stated that he would be able to provide an installation for $110, if I provided the door. It took me some research to find an appropriate door, due to the fact that my opening wasn't quite standard. I was able to discuss with John, through email, the various options available and he helped me make a decision. He made a special trip out to measure the door opening to be sure I got the correct door. It would take about a week for the door to arrive, but I was able to make my appointment with John in anticipation of it's arrival. We set the date for May 10th. On this day, John arrived in the early morning. He set up his equipment and went to work. He worked diligently. and completed everything on my list. My job took up the majority of the day, and he finished in the late afternoon. It was apparent, that John took great pride in his work and he was very thorough in completing each task. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that he installed my downspout converter, when I thought he was only going to cut the downspout. I expected to have to install the diversion kit myself. I'm not all that handy, so I was so grateful that he did this for me. He did a fantastic job, and it looks great! John cleaned up the work site and hauled away my old storm door. From start to finish this was an excellent transaction. I would definitely contact him for any future projects. I am grateful that he was willing to take on my job and very pleased with the results.

It went very well. He has fast and reliable service. He was on time, polite and professional. He also did a nice follow up, which is important.

I wish I could give John more than 5 stars for his work on the siding. We had a chimney cleaning guy who first told us that moisture was getting inside our chimney. Upon closer examination, it looked like the entire chimney's siding had to be replaced. So I started calling contractors to get quotes. I got quotes from $ 2500 to $10,000 to re-do the siding and plywood for our chimney. The contractor who gave a quote for 2500 wasn't responsive enough. So we went with John who had the second best pricing for $3100. We had a tight deadline to finish the siding because we wanted to put our house up on sale. We signed with him on Friday night and he began work exactly 1 week later on a good day. He also took the leftover paint from our exterior painting project and painted the cedar siding ahead of time indoors since the weather outside wouldn't have allowed us to paint it after installation. John was the only one who agreed to do it on the good days in the middle of the heavy snow. On Thursday before the work was to start, it snowed about 6 inches. He came on Friday, dug out a pathway to our chimney which is on a hill and began removing the siding on the chimney through the terribly cold weather on his ladder. He spent five days and fixed the siding, plywood and the corner posts, which were not in the original quote. He charged us $400 more for the corner posts, hence the price of $3500. He also added a tarp to our children's playpen free of cost. He worked from 9 to 5 everyday for five days, and had one helper. But he understood our need to meet the deadline and finished on time and within budget under terrible weather conditions. He did a fantastic job of caulking and re-painting some stains on the exterior wall also free of cost. John Kirch is reliable, honest and extremely nice. We were very impressed and I wish I could do more to recommend people like him - hardworking and reliable.

John came out to look at an area in my small backyard that I wanted to build a permanent pergola. I told him what I wanted and he had some good suggestions. He sent me a quote later that day and I decided to use Kirch Improvements. He gave me options on the wood and stain. Also, let me pick the look of the ends of the boards. I was planning on getting a patio built and wanted to get the posts in. He came on the weekend to dig the holes and came the following Tuesday to set the posts. The following day he came back and finished the project. He did a fantastic job!!

He responded to my emails very quickly. After he came out, he emailed an estimate. As soon as we sent in the down payment, he gave us a projected start date. He then called a few days prior to starting to remind us that he was coming.We were happy to find someone that could do everything. We had had a hard time finding someone to replace the siding as well as work on the staining. He came when he said he would. worked quietly and efficiently with one helper. He matched everything to the original as much as possible. It was hard to match the siding perfectly due to fading of the old siding. When there was a rain delay, he kept me informed via email when he would be back. He left the paint and stain in case I would need to do touch-ups at a later date. He moved and protected everything while working and cleaned up afterwards. I facebooked his company and found many DIY tips and ideas for future projects. I would definitely hire him again.

John Kirch of Kirch Improvements was very professional from the beginning. He showed up on time for the consultation and was patient and not at all pushy. He was very easy to reach over email - answering any questions we had quickly. He turned around the estimate for work quickly and was very reasonable in cost. Overall, we love our new deck, trim and storm door. We are happy we found Kirch Improvements and will use them again in the future.

John did repairs over a couple of days. He was prompt, courteous, and the repairs look great. It was easy to get in touch with him to schedule the work. He seems very knowledgable and experienced. He repaired our door, which had some minor wood rot, with some wood putty and then painted it (which was not even in our estimate) at no extra cost.
