I will recommend them because I have been using them for several times now for number of different things. I am positive to use them again in the future.

Borth had done work for me for a number of years with no problems. However, this time altho I gave them multiple chances, they were not helpful. I first called them in January to fix a Moen faucet. Pete came over and worked on it. However, even though I paid the bill, he did not fix the problem. I had Pete come back and he still did not fix the faucet. Then Dennis came over and he told me I needed a new part for the faucet and that I should call Moen because they had a lifetime warranty. I did call Moen and ordered the part and it came an about ten days. Dennis then came over to put in the part and said that was exactly what was needed. However, it did not fix the problem. Then the owner, Don, came over and looked at it. He said he could see the problem in his mind, but did not have a schematic for the faucet. He said he would go back and look up the faucet on the Internet and get back to me. I waited about two weeks and had no response. Then I called Borth and they sent Dennis back. Dennis was not very friendly. He said he had no information from Don about the faucet and thaty they could not keep coming back. Thus after multiple times of leaving work to get to the appointments and paying them, I still had the same problem as January.I then called Moen and they sent me a new faucet and I called Gene Wagner Plumbing and they sent Dave. He looked at the faucet and sound a small part that needed tightening and this solved the problem. Thus he did in 10 minutes what Pete, Dennis, and Don could not do in 6 different trips. My faucet now works fine. All I can say is I am disappointed in Borth and that it must not be the same company since Pat has left the company. Plus the plumbers who used to come to my home from Borth no longer work there. I am disappointed that Don, the owner told me he ould look up the part on the Internet and get back to me. My daughter was at home and heard him say this. I try to take people at their word, but unfortunately that did not happen here. I will say that wehn I called Borth and talked to Barb she was easy to work with and helpful in setting up appointments for me.riedr

Borth-Wilson does not install Moen faucets, but for customers we will repair if required. We attempted to repair the member's faucet several times as he stated. Each time, it worked properly when our technician left but problems seemed to recur. We then recommended he replace the faucet and offered to credit the repair costs towards an new faucet; he declined. Had the faucet been supplied and installed by us, we would have covered the repair or replacement completely. We apologize that we were not able to repair his faucet correctly.

My son had flushed a huge Lego down the toilet and they were able to fix that. They were very prompt. It was a huge job and I was impressed because things like the tile or the commode could easily have been damaged but they took care and nothing was damaged. They were professional and they always clean up and never leave a mess behind. I thought that the price was reasonable. They treat your home as if it was theirs and I appreciated that.

I have used them before and they are always professional. They always give an accurate and detailed estimate. He followed up with me in the next couple of days or a week with a detailed estimate of what the price would be to compile the work. They are always nice. They were expensive and that is why I decided not to go with them. I just couldn't afford their price but I will not be able to say whether or not it was exorbitantly high or low.

They did a nice job but there were a couple of surprises. They quoted around $800 or $1200; I don't remember exactly how much it was. They found that the pipes that went to the shower had corroded and needed to replace them. So it took them an entire day and a couple of hours, and it added to the cost. I can't comment much on the price because I do not have much experience with plumbers. The quality of work was good. There wasn't much that they could do because the house is old and there was no access to the mixer in the shower. So they had to cut out the wall and put a big piece of tile over it. So you could tell that it has been repaired because the tile doesn't match. It works well and that's what I needed. I will probably use their services again in the future.

We were very disappointed, particularly on the (a) lack of communication and (b) lack of professionalism in handling a dispute. They did a fine job on the dishwasher installation and sink installation. Yet, they NEVER installed the door. Never. Allow me to explain. We needed a new door upstairs that goes out to the patio. They asked me to select the door that I wanted at Home Depot. This was in December 2010. Because they were going to charge in excess of $200 to stain the door, I said that I would stain it. So, they agreed to pick up the door that I selected in December 2010, deliver it to our house, I would stain it in January 2011, and then they would hang it soon thereafter. I selected the door, and let Borth-Wilson know which door in late December 2010. Borth-Wilson did nothing. In February 2011, I e-mailed Borth-Wilson to follow up on the calls I made (to which no one called me back). I received no response. Finally, in March 2011, I reached Mr. Wilson. He initially had no recollection about the door at all. He never picked it up. I asked him, due to the delay, whether he would stain it for us now free of charge. I was getting married in 6 weeks, so I wasn't going to have much time to do it myself. He agreed to do so. Yet, he never did. I got married in May, left town for a couple weeks, and returned. In June 2011, I called Mr. Wilson. Not only had he not yet picked up the door we selected 6 months earlier, he did not remember offering to stain it for us free of charge. Despite me telling him that was what he promised in March 2011, he denied. In essence, he was claiming that I was making it up. He said things like, and quot;I would never promise to do something like that.and quot; Yet, he did -- I can tell you! I wrote it down on my note pad after talking with him and immediately told my fiance. But, for Borth-Wilson the and quot;customer is not always right, and quot; but must be lying. Indeed, at this point, he would not agree to stain it -- even with a discount -- and blamed me because I was too busy, which he claimed was the cause of the delay. Mind you, he had my $540 now for 3 months, along with the door I selected at Home Depot. He had not even picked up the door yet. But, it was my fault, according to him. So, 6 months after we selected the door, Mr. Wilson: (a) did not pick up the door as he promised in December 2010; (b) would not stain the door for any discount, as he promised in March 2011; (c) did not apologize; and (d) blamed the delay on me. I asked him to reconsider, put in writing my demand that he stand by his initial offer in March to stain it as a courtesy for the delay, and asked them to give me their answer in writing by a date certain. They did not reply. I called. I left a message. No one called me back. Mind you, they had my $540 since December 2010. So finally, I called and reached the owner. He did not respond to my previous phone messages. He said that they had just recently bought the door (this is in July 2011). He refused to stain it, or provide any service, for a discount. He blamed it on me for being busy due to my impending wedding in the spring. I asked him that, given that he's been holding my $540 for 6 months, if he would pay me back with interest -- he laughed off that suggestion. He agreed finally to pay back the $540. I asked him to apologize, and he said, and quot;If that's what you want, I'm sorry.and quot; They sent the $540 in the mail. With it, he wrote that cannot return the door to Home Depot. So, they would really appreciate our business so they wouldn't take a loss on the door. Ironic. Yet, their request for me to do them a favor was not accompanied with any offer of a discount for the long delay. Incidentally, I had someone else repair the existing door, paint it, and do quite a bit of labor on it for $250 -- half the price Borth-Wilson said it would take to simply hang it. They may do good work, but do not trust them. I would never use Borth-Wilson again, and certainly would not suggest anyone else to hire them either.
Description of Work: We hired Borth-Wilson to do the following: (1) install a dishwasher; (2) install a new bathroom sink; and (3) install a new door upstairs to our deck. On items #1 and #2, they did very well (despite a high price). On item #3, though, they did nothing. I explain below.

We had an issue with the installation of the water heater - when the City Inspector came to inspect the installation of the AC/Heater, he smelled gas. Someone from Gross Heating came out immediately and they found the leak was from a pipe on the water heater- something had not been sealed properly. Also, Borth pulled the permit incorrectly for the installation of the water heater. It was not a big deal, except that it created more hassle/work (for me) in coordinating a second inspection with the City.
Description of Work: Borth installed our water heater. We did not, however, have any contact with Borth directly (except for with the guy who installed the water heater and that contact was minimal). We worked with Gross Heating who contracted with Borth to install the new water heater - Gross handled everything.

I called Borth-Wilson the Thursday before (Oct 22nd) to find out an approximate estimate on how much a Dishwasher installation would cost. Mr. Wilson estimated the cost between $134-$225. He said since it was a Bosch it would be on the higher end and not the lower end. We've been happy with them before and I did not think of calling another company. As a customer, that means 225$ would be about the max amount we would pay for the installation. Mr. Wilson sent a letter saying that the plumber explained that since there was more to do that it was explained to my wife, but she says that she had no idea that the plumber meant so much higher than the quote over the phone. The high end of original quote was written on the bill and this is what my wife thought was going to be the maximum rise. I feel my wife was taken advantage of. Three Hundred and Thirty Six dollars is way beyond the 225$ quote over the phone. I did not seek another estimate because in the past Borth-Wilson has been trustworthy. The install cost is almost as much as the cost of the dishwasher. As a consumer I feel betrayed by this BAIT AND SWITCH that Mr. Wilson pulled and would have been more open to a truthful estimate over the phone were he actually gave the upwards cost of a difficult installation. That obviously did not happen. Instead he sent a letter trying to blame my wife for the quote that was almost $100 off! I am very un-happy that I was fooled to believe the Borth-Wilson is any different than any other contracting company that uses low brow tactics to make money. Jacob Pickard

There are a few discrepancies regarding the quoted amount- Don had quoted $175-225 and stated that a Bosh dishwasher would cost more. The member’s wife approved the new quoted amount before the work was done. Please see the attached letter, which was sent to the member. The letter further explains the charge. Dear Member, Regarding the installation of your dishwasher, I apologize that you weren’t satisfied with the price. We do our best to quote over the phone so that our customers know what to expect, but we can’t always know the requirements of a job without being at the home. I had given you an approximate amount of $175-225 for a standard replacement and said that a Bosch would be more. When our technician arrived at your house, he explained to your wife before he did the install that this would not be standard. You needed an air gap and shock arrestor to bring it up to code. The discharge hose also needed to be replaced because of the Bosch unit. This is what increased the price from our standard quote. Our technician also explained this to you when you got home. At Borth- Wilson, we strive to keep our customers for a lifetime. We want to you to be satisfied with our service so if you have any other questions or concerns please give me a call at the office. Sincerely, Don Wilson Owner

They did all the work in my previous house as well as this house. I have used them for years. I've been using them since the early 1990s. There've been in business a very long time. They also do remodeling, but I have not used them for that. I have used them mostly for plumbing work. They are reliable and knowledgeable. They are great people to work with and do a great job. I just bought two sump pumps, and I will be calling them to install it for me.

Everyone we dealt with at Borth-Wilson was very helpful and professional. We visited their office and were referred to a showroom where we could see actual toilet examples. We are very pleased with the model they recommended (Kohler Cimarron) and had an excellent experience with scheduling and completing the installation. We would definitely use them again for any future plumbing projects.

When the project was completed, we were satisfied with their work. However, within several months, a leak developed with the shower attachment. Theyu returtned to correct this. Several months later, a portion of the drywall between the tub/ shower and the closet began to bubble. It was soft to the touch and the paint was flaking off. When we reported this, they scraped down the area, caulked behind the shower door, and repainted. Approximately 6-9 months later, the same problem appeared. We called again to report this. When Tim arrived, he stated that they could not keep coming back here because it was costing them money. He quickly scraped and repainted and left. To no surprise, the issue re-appeared only now the area is larger is size. When I called to talk to Don, he said he would send Tim out. When Tim arrived, he said it was due to excessive moisture in the room. When I explained that we have never had a moisture problem in this room, water never collects in this area, and have more than enough ventilation that was properly installed, he stated that there is nothing they can do. He offered to scrape and paint for approximately $ 450 however, he would be back in 3-6 months again. I told him that was unacceptable and my concern is a growing mold problem. Both Tim and Don have now refused to correct this properly. We selected Borth Wilson because we were told they do quality work and stand behind their workmanship. It appears their definition of quality is significantly different than most.

Contacted the company and was told that the cost would not exceed $325. I told them that seemed high and was told that they didn't know how to quote it since we had all exposed to studs and the fixtures. I was told the plumber would "modify" based on time and the $325 would cover 2 hours. Well, the plumber came and said we had to pay $325 since he was not allowed to change the amount. I called 4 times to get this resolved, lot's of "We're sorry" but no resolution. On top of all this the shower fixture is loose. The 4th time I was connected to the service manager and I have never spoken to anyone so rude and full of himself. He actually said he would have charged us even more and we were lucky. 3 weeks later I get a letter in the mail saying my complaint was looked into and no credit would be given but I get a $35.00 credit on any future work. I will never use the credit as I will never use this comany and I do not recommend them...unless you want to throw money "down the drain".
Description of Work: Over the tub shower fixtures replaced. I had already purchased the fixtures but wanted a pro to put them in. We were in the middle of re-tiling and so the wall was open to the studs making the job very accessible.

First visit was to install bathroom faucet and diagnose/repair kitchen faucet. Kitchen faucet issue diagnosed as broken levers, parts to be ordered. Second visit was to remedy bathroom faucet installed improperly (cold/hot reversed - should have been tested), levers for kitchen faucet were not ordered and knobs were installed. Third visit was to replace newly ordered levers for kitchen faucet. However, proper faucet cartridges were not available to make levers function, left with knobs. Total bill for this was $270. Communication from office and timeliness of field staff were great. I have used Borth Wilson previously and I have never before experienced such poor service at such a high price.

Upstairs bathroom just started flooding with water and ran down the onto the ceiling in the dining room. I had this fear it would cost 1000.00 and the walls would be ripped apart. The advisor who answered the phone was very polite and courteous and she new her stuff. She told me over the phone what it could be and they would send someone out. The plumber had to only cut a very small hole on the wall and replaced a pipe. I will have someone come in to fix the small hole. It has the drywall square piece that was cut out inserted in the hole. I will definately call them again if I need a plumber...hopefully not too soon though!

One of the best tile installers in the business. Carpentry, electrical and plumbing about average. Their own worst enemy is the person who oversees the jobs. When the job was "finished" according to them, there were a few minor issues we had. Custom installed cabinetry was damaged some, some fixtures are still loose, and there is a sewer type smell still coming from the shower drain. They offered a chemical to counter the smell but it remains ofter the chemical is used. None of the issues have been resolved by them.

From the phone call to setup the estimate to the arrival of the company president to do the quote, everything went very well. Everyone we dealt with was professional and timely. Quote arrived about 5 calendar days after they were on-site. Based on our uninformed guess at what it would take, we were surprised by the $ level of the quote. We re-thought our approach to the bathroom and have gone with a lower cost option due to our planned budget.

This company put in my water heater about 1.5 years ago - outside of the warranty period, of course. The pilot light wouldn't stay lit, so when they tried to replace the pilot light ignitor, they put in an incorrect one - found out it was incorrect and had to go back and find a correct one and put it in. Hence they charged me for the time they putting in both ignotors - first the incorrect replacement and then the right one for the water heater. Then he found out that the pilot light was still going out and then replaced only other thing he could do and that was the controller. So I felt this was a tactic to get more money out of me as they are paid per the time at the appointment. The parts were under warranty, but not their time.
