Eric arrived right on time and looked at our drawings. He said he thought there was definitely an alternative to pouring 18 inches of concrete and that we might be able to do a few inches of rigid insulation. He was really good about asking about our intentions for the house - making sure that whatever we were planning on now wouldn't need to be ripped out at a later date due to some grander long range plans. Our house has a strong architectural presence - it's a Ralph Anderson. He asked about how true to this style we wanted to stay and took that into account with his ideas and suggestions. He followed up his visit with a sketch of an alternative layout and an article about the rigid insulation he referred to.

This was our first time working with or needing an architect and we valued Eric?s insight into what we should look for in a designer and described each step of a design process. We appreciated Eric?s approach with a helpful attitude and impressed with the use of CAD and his design work. However we have chosen another architect whose previous and current work has more of the specific design style we were looking for and also shared some of the same positive characteristics that Eric held. We got a sense that Eric would be a skilled guide for a project and an exceptional designer. We would recommend contacting Eric to see if he would be a good fit for your project.

I contacted Eric over e-mail about a master bedroom expansion project we were considering. He responded right away and within a day we had arranged a phone appointment for a 20 minute introductory discussion. Since I was (am) new to the process, he spent most of the time giving me lots of valuable information about working with an architect and also alternative strategies to consider that might better suit our projected budget and type of project. Eric was extremely helpful in providing detailed answers to my questions, without any kind of "sales" pressure - I felt like he was really helping me with what I would need to make an informed decision about the remodel project. He also followed up after the phone call with some additional information, including a few recommendations on design-build companies that I could talk to. Although we concluded that our current project was not a good fit for an architect-led arrangement, I would definitely contact him in the future if we were to consider a larger-scale renovation.

Eric was very responsive to my initial emai. We were able to set up an appointment for him to come out and see what we had in mind. I had an initial idea about what kind of a front porch I wanted, but it was difficult for me to know what would work with our house. He listened to my ideas and my husbands and suggested some alternatives that would work. We choose the one we wanted and then he sat down at our kitchen table and drew up a sketch with specific details that our roofer and carpenter could work with. We will need to give this sketch to our roofer for a specific bid on what would work. Eric said he'd be available to talk to the roofer if the roofer had questions. I liked Eric very much. He knew exactly what we were talking about with our initial idea and was able to see what pros and cons there were with different specific designs as far as how that would affect gutters and roofing (an important consideration when adding on to an existing house). He gave us a sketch that we could use right away, and I thought the cost was extremely reasonable. I will certainly look to Eric again if I want to remodel something in my house.

Eric Gedney is a gifted architect. He has a knack for working with homeowners to bring the best options available to the forefront. Eric is dependable, reliable, hard working and has great vision for what 'could be'. My wife and I loved working with Eric and hope to utilize his obvious skills again in the future!

My wife and I very much appreciated the time Eric spent listening and sharing his thoughts about our house, our ideas, and our challenges. We very much appreciated his frank observations and opinions and found them instrumental in shaping our thinking about how to approach any change to our house. He gave us the clearest signal of anyone we?ve met with about the?folly, shall we say, of sinking a huge sum of money into the existing structure and expecting to get any return on that investment for a very long time. We?re spending more of our time looking at homes for sale and considering ways in which we can accommodate another family member without changing the house design. Should we change our mind and proceed with a major remodel of the house we will likely interview other candidates for design work since we would want to evaluate more than one architect for fit and cost. We would continue to consider Eric among any list of candidates. We didn?t think the personality fit was spectacular, but we also didn?t think it was bad. We liked Eric's portfolio and experience, which were certainly in line with our requirements, and would certainly recommend him to others looking for an architect.

Eric was professional, on time and budget. He was very detailed, and worked very well with our "random" ideas he converted into sketches we could talk to him on - and continued to tune them into full plans that we could execute on with a builder. He was available to the construction team to make sure they stuck to plan, answered their questions, and really gave us confidence in getting thru the process. his pricing was fair and he was open and transparent on his costs.

We can't recommend Eric highly enough. He was thoughtful in his approach to our design, taking into account our ideas and helping us to see what would work and more importantly, what would not and why. The finished design is truly representative of us. Eric had so many great ideas on how to maximize our site, our space and our design. It is a unique and welcoming plan. No detail was too small for his consideration. He was extremely considerate of our budget and top notch all around.
