Western Exterminator

Very poor. On several occasions the technician came out, claimed to have done the treatment and left. Inspection afterwards indicated no treatment was done. Technicians were dishonest and incompetent.

I still think that they should have told me, before they came out, what they charge to treat carpenter ants, but the young man who was here was very nice and tidy. He was charming, well groomed and he came on time. He did a good job and knew exactly what to do and he did it quickly and effectively. He also showed us where the soil ants were coming from. I thought that was very helpful. If I ever have a ant problem again, I would probably call them even though I think the $189 charge was a little much for one service (carpenter ant removal only).

Been great. I like the guy they send out and I would use them again.

The first guy did a decent job of spraying the whole infested room, then went throughout the house. The bugs were still there. The second guy refused to spray anything but the bed. These people obviously know NOTHING about bed bugs. One guy tried to tell us that the bugs would die in 6 weeks if they did not feed them. NOT! We now know the nasty creatures can live 18 months without food. Because of the warranty, they came back every 2 weeks for about 2 months. But again, refused to spray the entire room. We finally figured out that spraying the top of the mattress would not work because the bugs were buried. We got rid of the mattress and asked them to spray one last time. They refused saying that it wasnt "ecological" and they would not come back for 3 months. Now the house is infected, not just the room - and the room has been abandoned for a year. They charge us $100 every 3 months, have to be shown where to spray, have not made good their warranty, and we still have bugs.

They came to do the service within a few days of the time we called them in March. The service man said the ants might increase slightly for a few days and then would be gone. Now it is August and the ants are still in our kitchen and now the bathrooms as well. They've been back several times, but there has never been any decrease in the ant population. This company has been a nightmare to work with! They have refused to give us any refund. (I am a new member to Angie's List. This report is from our experience last summer)

When I talked to the individual on the phone they said for an average size yard the cost would be 49 dollars. I went with them since the other companies where 200 dollars and could not be out for 10 or more days. When the individual arrived, he gave me a quote of 250 dollars. I told him what I had been told on the phone, and I have a small yard. He said he could only go as low as 199. I could not wait another 10 days for the service, so I used him and was guaranteed they would be taken care of. Now I have had to call him back since we are still finding them. Not real pleased with the service - will probably not use them in the future.

Miserably! When guy arrived he said that the service requested (and agreed on) would only drive the ants inside the house, and that I should increase the service to cover this problem. That would cost an extra $85.00 (total $229.00). I told him I didn't like "bait and switch" and that he could leave. He pleaded to call his office to see if he could get the price down. He came back with a price of $179.00 - a reduction o $50.00. I consented and later regretted doing that. Two days later the ants (lots of them)were back outside. We sprayed them with Black Flag to kill them. I then called the company to complain and the fellow said I should not have sprayed - that that "will only trigger the queen ant to reproduce more ants." He offered no solution. He offered no service.

Perhaps the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. The technician who came out was unprofessional. He spoke loudly and inappropriately on his cell phone as he sprayed our house. When I showed him the actual location of the ant problem, he mentioned they could not solve issues in our upstairs and proceeded to commit us (without our knowledge or agreement) to an ongoing service plan using fine print on the invoice. When he and I spoke at the end, we explicitly agreed that I would call him if the problem did not go away and deal with it at that point. However, he had apparently decided to under-handedly lock us into an ongoing service plan. Although the problem did not go away, I was planning to call another company this summer. Before I could, the technician showed up at our house when we were not there and without my prior consent proceeded to apply the chemicals around the house again. Clearing this up with the office was a nightmare. I ended up paying just to be done.

Very prompt in scheduling. Even offered nominal discount, for being a repeat customer. Checked bait traps and rebaited them. Suggested to do a complete crawlspace clean out. They did not inspect where the rats were entering (or at least they didn't tell us). They did not have any suggestions, to repair any entry sites. They did suggest their yearly maintenance.

They came when they said they would. The man was pleasant and efficient. He answered all my questions and checked the rodent bait in the crawlspace for me as well.

They were friendly and informative on the phone. Arrived on time and were professional and informed. Gave me written info on the chemicals they were using (I had to request it). Not a service I have ever had to use before, but so far it seems effective (4 weeks later).

Guy was extremely late. After several phone calls, he finally arrived about 1 1/2 hours late (and I took the afternoon off work so he could spray). Once he arrived, he was very sloppy with the spray, splashing it everywhere, but assuring me that it was perfectly safe. It certainly was safe, at least for the cockroaches. It did NOT do the job it intended to do. I called them several times over the next couple of weeks and complained that I was still seeing the roaches and was told that ''it takes time''. Well, now they've had plenty of time and we still have the roaches. They have refused to come out unless we pay them for additional services.

The house is built on a slab so there was no crawl space to go into. To apply the product, they had to drill small holes in the exterior between the studs. When they got around to the back of the house, they hit a hot water line that was in the wall cavity that nobody could see. The applicator said he had been doing this for about 15 years and this was the first time that this had ever happened. Accidents do happen. I was very impressed when by the next day, they (or someone) had cut a hole in the drywall at the interior of the house, repaired the damaged pipe and repaired the hole in the drywall. You could not tell that any one had ever been there. I would not hesitate to call on this company in the future. As a home inspector, I know good work and sloppy work. I have seen both. Alpha Ecological can be trusted and does great work. They are the only company that I refer my clients to.

We purchased a new house that had ants. Luckily the builder paid for the service. The ants kept coming back, but they guarantee their work for three months. They've been back three times. All of the staff are very friendly. Their schedules are very flexible.

Each time they come out we continue to have ants, so they have sent their technician out for a second application free of charge. This usually takes care of the problem. Their specialists are professional and friendly, although it is usually a different person that comes out each time. The first technician said he saw signs of carpenter ants and tried to sell us treatment for that, but the last one said he didn't see any signs of them. Their customer care system is a little frustrating because you never talk to the same person, and it seems like they have scripted answers to common customer concerns.

I called them, due to possible damage by wood boring insects. Showed the person the possible areas. He did nothing to treat these areas. All he did was set off a bomb in the attic space. Charged me more to spray one side of garage.

They arrived when they said they would. The technician, Russ, checked out the crawlspace and mentioned he saw lots of rodent droppings which he was able to show me. He never tried to sell me additional services but had all the information I needed to decide to have them leave the poison bait as well as do the original spraying. I am impressed that they will come back once a month, at my convenience to check the bait and keep it full. This price included three months of service. I was also concerned they may try to sell me a contract for regular spraying, but the technician was helpful without being pushy.

Alpha has been doing our pest control for about a year or more. I have a very old home with a business office in my basement. Therefore a lot of problems with ants, termites, you name it. We have controlled the infestation inside our home while cleaning up the causes on the outside. They have been informative about the causes of some of our problems. They have gone the extra mile and check under sinks, etc, when I have a concern or question. They have cleared our front entrance for the spiders and such that were actually webbing us inside as well as covering our entrance with debris that would catch in the webs. My only regret is the tech that has been taking care of us has left the company; however, it has not caused any disruption in our service.

The technician was one time and very professional. He treated this house as if it were his own. He worked at a steady pace and was very thorough. Their products didn't leave any fumes or vapors so I didn't have to leave my home and I was able to watch him at work! The treatment was very successful but we chose to go with a yearly maintenance program just in case because we learned that ants can leave behind a pheramon trail that other ants may be attracted to. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who is seeking pest control done with a spirit of excellence. They might be a tad more expensive than other companies, but you know the saying: you get what you pay for. Enough said.

Alpha got rid of the bees on the first trip out then came back 24 hours later to ensure the bees were gone which they did without charging me for a second visit. They came in on budget, communicated well and were concerned about our pets safety. I was impressed!

The technician who came explained to me everything that he was going to do and told me how the product works and also gave me a lot of information on the carpenter ant. I thought that he was very knowledgable in his field of work and then with in a few days I didn't see any more ants!

The technician that came out was very imformative about the services he was performing. He was on time and very professional.

Thought the fee was right in the ball park and they actually showed up when they said that they would. We have had to call for repeat applications and there has never been a problem.

The technician was on time, and did a very thorough job. He was very polite and explained everything that needed to be done. I felt the price was very competative and that the technician was very experienced. I have not needed a second treatment because he did such a fantastic job the first time.
