Western Exterminator

We started with them about 3 years ago. They come out every 3 months. We are on a maintenance plan with them. Service is very well. They come over whenever I spot an ant, and they come out. There are others that are cheaper, so maybe a B on price. They quality is good

In the beginning, this company was great. Great service, quick response. However, they were bought out by Western Exterminator, and since that change, it's really like working with a different company. We have an ongoing contract, and what's actually done under the contract seems to shift depending on who you talk to. The purported system is that you have a specific 'technician' who always services your account, so that you can count on that person knowing your situation. However, the technician seems to be different every time. We get no information about when the technician has been there, or what he has seen or done. In the past, when we also saw ants inside, we'd just call and they'd come right over and treat the inside of our home. Now, when I call Western Exterminator, they seem to be unclear about what plan I'm on. The last time I contacted them, they said that 'my' technician would call us back. That didn't happen. I'm cancelling our contract, and switching to a highly rated local provider. I would not recommend this company to anyone any more.

After speaking with the district manager he offered us approximately $400 worth of services in an effort to get us to stay with A.E. rather than finding another company. Services have remained exemplary, there have been a few issues scheduling appointments but nothing major. The technicians have been very professional each time they've come out.

I had the work done over a year ago and didn't know their was a problem until the warranty was up. After I notified the company they came out and fixed everything They have been out three times to make sure everything was all right and did not charge me for anything. Charles and his helper came out to day to fix my sump pump and were very professional and answered all my questions. they were very nice to work with and if I need anything else I will call them.

It went very well. We are working with them quarterly to keep the pests out.

The A.E. technicians have been exemplary in the execution of services agreed to and paid for, including being on time when scheduled. They have taken precautions to protect my wood floors which I really appreciate. However, I have had extreme difficulties getting appointments made through their call center. When I first initiated the services from A.E. I had some questions about the package we chose so I called and left a message for the technician, I never got a return call because he was never given the message. Then on a subsequent appointment, the SAME call center person was very rude and abrupt with me when I insisted on getting an appointment that was "dedicated" so I wouldn't have my whole morning taken up by a "time range" type appt. She ended up putting in the call notes that I was "supposed to call back to get an appointment" when in fact we did make an appointment during that phone call. I assumed the appt. was made and was wondering why they didn't show up until I called the call center and they told me what was in the notes. A. E. did have someone at my house within two hours to correct the mistake, but my morning was already gone because of this unnecessary incompetence of the call center person. I felt as though this person did this on purpose just to spite me because it was so clear during our phone call that we did in fact make the appointment type I requested. A.E. did offer to have a manager make my future appointments instead of going through the call center, which I did and still do appreciate, but then I have to make multiple phone calls if they are not available just to make the next appointment. Technicians have told me that A.E. will call me to make the next appointments but I have had to call in to make my appointments-I have not received any follow up calls as directed by the technicians during the visits. Today, I had a scheduled, dedicated appointment and no one showed up. I called in to the call center and was told that the appointment accidentally got cancelled because of an "accounting error" in their software. Basically, when the technician reported that the visit he was currently on was finished, it cancelled my next appointment, which was for today. A.E. did in fact get another technician to my home within the thirty minutes they promised, but I don't need this kind of upset in my schedule, repeatedly. I am very frustrated with this company and have called to speak to higher management and have spoken with Angies List management as well. If I go to another pest control company I will have to pay another initiation fee which is the only reason at this point that I have not fired this company.

Went fine. The only major complaint we have with them is that they tend to send a different treatment person every time, and we have to "educate" him about the details of our home every time.

Came on time did the work effectively and throughly and we no longer have ants

We had some communication problems and the service took much longer than originally estimated. We worked things out and the services were completed as requested.

We have not used them in a while because our ants have not been back, but we used them about four or five times between 2001 and 2013. I don't remember how much they charged us, but it seemed reasonable. The reason we stopped using them is because they wanted to start doing a monthly spray and we did not need that. We only needed it every three or four years. They were always friendly and always on time. They were Christian because they had the little fish thing, which I don't like it when people advertise that, but other than that the service was great. The other reason we used them was because my son was a baby and we did not have to leave because their stuff was not toxic. Originally they came out every couple of years to spray. We would only call them when we needed them. I thought their pricing was reasonable, but I don't know because I have never had anyone else.

When I called, they could not offer service right away, so we scheduled for their representative to come out in a few weeks. When the appointed day arrived, the representative arrived on time, and immediately identified the insect causing the problem with our deck. He offered to apply the insecticide right away, and we accepted. Within an hour, the whole process was done. The representative also identified another problem with the deck, which he said was unrelated to the bees. He wasn't selling anything, just being helpful. Given the diagnosis, I probably could have cured the problem more inexpensively, but was content to pay Alpha to get it taken care of immediately, and to get a major company to stand behind the work.

I would them to others. They have done a fine job for me over the years.

They were real friendly, but they were way overpriced. The next guy came down the road and said he would do it for way less. We used them until December. We use somebody else now, who is like half price. They came in and put some stuff down around the outside, and a couple of traps, because they thought we were having some problems, and we were having ant problems. The problem did clear up, and so they did a good job.

We like them. They were really pricey. They were okay. They did the job. I just had to keep calling them to get them back here which was supposed to be an automatic show. That was the problem. I don't like paying money upfront for a year service. I like paying for the service when it's due. They were good. They came when I called.

Fantastic. Serviceman showed me where we had a hobo spider right outside our front door. Prior to the visit we had small ants that were moving their home from place to place in our front yard, I was worried when the rain came they would make their way into our home. The ants have not made their way into our home. Also, after the barrier was placed the number of live spiders in our house diminished rather rapidly. :)

They were good. I liked having a sustainable option of having less chemicals that are toxic for people and the planet. It was very easy to set up. They had a receptionist and she was very clear about when people would come out. They showed up and they were really nice. It was so effortless, just the way that I want. If I wasn't there, they would still spray and let me know. It was good. I liked them a lot but I found another competitor that was less in price.

Other than my every other month service, Alpha Ecological took care of a bee problem I had. They came right out and sprayed, and we haven't had any other problems. It comes with a 30-day guarantee, so if you see any activity within the month they'll come back, check, and reapply spray if needed.

We have a bimonthly service contract for ant and mice control. We specifically requested that service be performed on a day of the week when we are home so that we can talk with the technician. The last service appointment scheduled for 10/25/2013 was not performed even though the company claims it was and billed us for it. Both my wife and I were home all day and specifically looking for the technician to discuss other pest issues. The technician did not show up, their was no notice on the door (as there usually is), the bait boxes were not serviced (as evidenced by a date stamp on the box), there was no evidence that anyone had been at our house (no foot prints - nothing). When I called Alpha to report that our service had not been performed they stated that it was performed as reported by the technician. When I received the bill (for service I did not receive) we again called and they said their vehicle tracking indicated they were at our house. I know when anyone is at my house and I know that Alpha never showed up and performed any service. I paid the bill since it was less that $100 and cancelled my service contract. I do NOT recommend Alpha Pest Control.

They gave a good service and they gave good information. We don't know about the service or the outcome because there is a waiting period to have the service engaged and have the ants gone.

It went very well Better than last time as the provider did not try to sell additional services I was not interested in.

My experience with them is fine. I've been using them for probably a couple of years in getting rid of some ants and they do a great job. I know one thing that they focus on is being environmental-friendly by using non-toxic products and it appears that's case, so you have to take them on their words. They definitely let you know what they're going to be doing and how they are going to do it on things and situations that needed to be remedied.

The tech was on time and very professional. He explained every detail . We would use this company again.

Our kitchen floor was damaged by a dishwasher leak. The insurance company arranged the work. This contractor removed all of the old flooring, including asbestos tile below the hardwood. They used all of the hazardous material methods. The only problem was that they left a bag of debris. I didn't know whether it was contaminated or not, or whether it could go in the garbage. I called and a few days later they picked it up. I don't know the cost. It was a few months ago. The cost was paid by the insurance company.

We went through a year program and ants kept coming back. We signed up for Angie's list and found another recommendation. Problem solved.

They are great. In the Portland area there aren't that many pest control companies that are really reliable. There are a lot of fly by night, sort of unfavorable people who are involved in that business. Probably Alpha Ecological has maintained a high quality level both in terms of the competence of the people involved and the quality of the work they do. They are also very knowledgeable and very careful on how they provide the service since they come into your home and work very intimately in and around your home that is especially valuable. The guy that came out and actually walked around the house and tried to diagnose how the pests were getting into my house was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to talk with a construction man that was working for me about how to solve the problem. Normally that is not something that is done. He gave free advice to my construction guys who were extremely knowledgeable about houses and there they were talking on a peer to peer level. That was very impressive. So they gave good advice, and then the service they did provide was done carefully, meaning they were in my house, pulling up the carpets in certain places to treat for silver fish and so on. They did that very carefully even though they brought big equipment to do some of the work, they left the house in perfect condition.
