Excellent. Ron was professional and reliable from the moment of our first contact all the way through the end. He responded to my inquiry within just a couple of hours. We made an appointment to bid and he showed up on time and prepared. He sent the bid when he said he would. His bid was competitive with others bidders. He was clear and up front about when he could do the work. He showed up when he said he would and he sent me email reminders that he was coming. He listened really well, remembered everything I said, and did what I wanted w/o the need for prompting, reminding, or babysitting. The work was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. Ron's assistant/partner Mark was also excellent. They are no non-sense yet very personable. They don't complain and they did excellent work. They even fixed several handyman jobs I had around the house at no additional charge. We could not be more pleased with them. Would absolutely hire again. Hope this review helps others!

Ron is fantastic! He was prompt in his response, expertly communicated throughout the entire project, and completed everything ahead of schedule. His price point was extremely fair compared to the other two bids I received (one much higher, one within $1000) and I felt comfortable with him taking care of everything. My husband and I did all the demolition on our house ourselves and I served as the "general contractor" for the full house remodel. Many other contractors would have -- and did -- make comments about how we couldn't handle it, etc. Ron was supportive and interested, and even returned when we had a project that was over our heads without complaint. I look forward to doing more projects with Ron in the future (that patio roof, Ron!) and would recommend him to friends and family. Truly a delight to work with.
Description of Work: Installed an 18', 700-lb. engineered beam to open up the wall between our kitchen and living room. Also cut out and installed a 5' x 3' footing in the basement for support. Cost includes permits, material and labor.

Ron responded imediately to my initial email contact and came by the next day to look at the walls. The plaster walls in the bedroom were cracked and broken in several places--the result of old age and long-ago water damage. Ron gave a reasonable estimate of cost and put us on his schedule. He showed up on time the first morning (and each subsequent morning). He finished the entire job as scheduled, in four days. The bedroom looks beautiful. We are very happy with the work. We are happy with the cost. Ron has done work for us in the past, and we will definitely call him again in the future. He is a skilled, reasonably priced, reliable professional.
Description of Work: Repaired (taped and skim coated) two damaged bedroom walls and another wall in the basement stairwell. Painted all four bedroom walls and woodwork. Installed new bedroom light fixture. Planed two sticky doors which now open and close easily.

We are very satisfied by the quality of the work, the speed and responsiveness of this contractor. Very professional team, knew exactly what to do with little input from us after an initial consult.
Description of Work: Fixed dry rot on front porch, replaced beams and designed and installed a cover to uncovered section of porch. He picked up a project that was started by another contractor who had been working for weeks on the project. Ron's team completed the work in two days.

Ron and his partner Mark are amazingly hard workers! The two of them had my huge deck dismantled in just over a day, and the whole deck replacement with railing caps took less than a week. Not only were they fast, they were careful -- precise in their measurements and diligent in getting the boards aligned perfectly. Mark deserves particular acknowledgement for his excellent carpentry skills. Next came the doors. I knew there was some damage to the family room underlayment; the carpet had stains. However, I was unprepared for what showed up: rot all the way through the floor supports. They set to work, testing all the wood for soundness and cutting out and replacing everything that showed any weakness. They then thoroughly waterproofed the new floor structures, although with the new deck I think the water issues should be resolved. I very much appreciate their thoroughness and care! I also appreciate how careful they were to protect the new deck. The other doors were also replaced, including a garage door that wasn't in the initial bid because I didn't understand the extent of the damage. Ron and Mark were assiduous in ensuring that the new doors would not have the problems that the originals had, even though the deck height was such that it took quite a bit of work to get the doors correctly aligned relative to the deck. (Quite a bit of work was characteristic of the whole project!) They did the painting, installed new locks, and rehung the shades. I am delighted with how well my new doors work (the old ones never worked well), how they look, and how comfortable I feel that I will never have to get this job done again! Another aspect of their work that I want to praise is the way they dealt with my additional requests along the way. I discovered that an upstairs window surround had damage similar to a downstairs window near the aforementioned French door. I had hoped that adding the second window in wouldn't be too much of a problem, but it turned out that they didn't have quite enough of the replacement piece. Ron didn't even hesitate; he just drove back to the lumber store and got an extra piece. He was unfailingly cheerful and accommodating even though I kept saying "Could you ...?" and adding in yet more work during their time here. Finally, I want to express my gratitude for Ron's interest in making sure I didn't have to get any work done that wasn't required. For example, he preserved the deck railings, which were in fine shape, thus saving me well over $1000. He also found a way to avoid replacing or removing a piece of the hardwood floor. I ended up spending less than I anticipated for a better outcome than I could have hoped for, given the extent of the problems. The examples above mention just a few of the many details they tended to while they were here. To sum up, Ron and Mark have my very highest recommendation. Their work ethic, work quality, and professionalism made what could have been a very trying process into a positive experience with a extremely pleasing outcome.
Description of Work: First Ron and his partner replaced an approx. 1000 sq. ft. cedar deck that had originally been constructed with the boards too close together. Not only was this bad for the deck, it also caused water damage to both French doors and the garage door that opened onto it. They then replaced all three doors and repaired all the rotted areas around them. The entire floor was rotted through next to the door in family room (an unexpected finding). In addition, they repaired water damage around two windows and dealt with water damage to the floor and baseboards in an upstairs bathroom.

He did an excellent job. He did the remodel with the person that assists him, Mark and they did most of everything themselves so they were here everyday. There weren't any gaps in the remodel and they came in and got it done. He was very responsive, very easy to work with and I felt very comfortable having him in my home.

It went exactly as he said it would. he seemed honest and straightforward during the bidding process and am extremely happy his actions spoke volumes. Work was done in a timely manner and exactly on budget. The tenant says Ron was personable and professional and polite. The project final result was impressive. I will certainly use him again.
Description of Work: Moved a fixed pane 5ftx6ft window from the house to the porch. Replaced old window with one that has sliders. Redecked small porch. Enclosed a previously open porch. Added structural support to porch roof. Added anchor bolts to concrete stairs for existing metal railing. Painted everything to match existing color.

Ron was great to work with. We initially contacted him through his website and we had a quote within a couple of days. His bid beat most of those we had for the work and his upbeat attitude made him the clear choice for the job. The job was scheduled and he was able to perform the work in a single stretch of just a few days. He was flexible enough with the schedule that we were able to have a weekend to paint in the middle of the job. I have to give Ron an extra "thumbs up" for being able to take a sketch of an extremely complex tile design and making it a reality. The bathroom turned out fabulous and we are extremely happy with his work.
Description of Work: We hired Ron to help us complete some specific tasks in our bathroom remodel including framing the shower nooks, tiling the shower surround, installing ADA grab bars and a slide bar (for the hand shower), and hanging drywall butting up to the tile. He also completed taping, sanding, and texture of the drywall in the entire bathroom and cut and installed the vinyl flooring.

Bottom line - Ron was great. We interviewed several outfits, and Ron was the only one that would do all the work himself, with one helper. The other people who gave estimates were not the people who would do the work, or even supervise it. This was especially important to us as we were living in another state while the work was being done. During the work Ron kept us well informed, sending pictures as the work went along and calling with any questions if he was not sure just what we wanted or to discuss something we had not thought about when we asked him to do the work. When Ron was finished and we arrived to look at the work and for the inevitable punch list items, we were very pleased with the quality of the work, and just as pleased with how Ron immediately undertook to make right every little thing we had questions about and to do several small things we had forgotten to ask him to do. All in all it was the very unusual really good experience with a contractor on a fairly sizable job. We gave a B for value only because Ron's bid was higher than a couple of others we got, but it seems likely that we did get our moneys worth in quality of work and peace of mind.
Description of Work: We bought a small cottage in need of quite bit of mostly cosmetic work, including refinishing all the wood floors, replacing all baseboards and the inside trim around all the doors and windows, adding crown molding, skim coating the really rough ceilings, painting everything, and several smaller jobs, along with fixing a bunch of deferred maintenance type problems, including shoring up the floor under a previously leaking bath tub.

The whole process went great! When I first contacted Ron, I left a message and he got right back to me. He was about to go out of town on vacation, but still scheduled a time to come and give me a bid that worked with my schedule. He even got the bid to me in less than 24 hours after viewing the damage and before he left on his trip. Ron's bid was very reasonable. Once I contacted him that we wanted to move forward on the repairs, Ron promptly scheduled his start date. Throughout the repair process Ron kept to his timeline and checked in with me either via email or phone each day since I was not home when the drywall was replaced. There was slight increase in cost due to an additional issue he discovered when repairing the ceiling (a piece of duct work had been removed by someone else during the clean up process). Ron let me know about this right away and clearly explained what it was and how much it would be. The carpet repairs went just as well. The worker Ron contracts with was on time, professional, and did a nice job. We are very happy with the results and would contact Ron again for future work. We highly recommend him!!!!
Description of Work: We had water damage to our home, the second floor toilet overflowed and continued to run for while we were outside. Water damaged the ceiling below and carpet area outside the bathroom. The drywall was replaced and painted. New carpet padding was laid down and carpet relaid over new padding. Carpeting was done by another professional Ron contracts with.

Due to a bad past experience with a previous contractor, I have been hesitant to sign any contracts. I decided to hire Ron for a couple of home projects based on his great reviews on Angie's list. I am so glad I did. Ron was professional, very pleasant, upfront, understood my needs, didn't try to upsell, and very easy to work with. Mark, his partner was just as proficient. The bill came in exactly as his bid. There were a couple of small surprises that came up and he covered the costs including labor. The work was outstanding and they completed the projects in a very timely matter. No mess left behind. I can't say enough about Ron, Mark too. I would definitely hire them again under any circumstances. Thanks guys! You did a great job and have given me some faith again in contractors.

Fantastic. Ron said the work was going to take two days and it did. They arrived at 7:30 each morning and worked hard all day. They cleaned up after themselves and the bill was exactly what he said it would be. I would use Ron Wackerly Construction again in a minute.

The work had to be done in stages. First Ron Wackerly did some needed carpentry work, then the insulators (sub-contracted) did their work and then Wackerly did the drywall. Each stage went quickly. Very business like. The work was performed with great skill and attention to not making a mess. There was more that I should/could have had Wackerly perform but I was paying attention to cost of the project. All in all we were very content with Ron Wackerly Construction. Ron Wackerly stated to me, " that it was his intent on receiving A's in his review and that was the type of attention/detail he pays to his work. Good reviews get me more work." We were and are happy with his work.

We are very pleased with the bathroom -- Ron does quality work. We got 3 bids and Ron's was the lowest. The project moved along at a good pace. He put up dust barriers and cleaned up after himself. He was conscientious in communicating with us, but ideally we could have benefited from further discussion on a couple of issues regarding dimensions (for the sink and the shower door). But everything turned out fine. Ron is a pleasant person to deal with and he does good work.

Ron was honest about when he could do this job and was able to get to it before he said he could. I know enough about drywalling to know that he knew what he was talking about - particularly in working with bathrooms and kitchens. He used the right materials, did quality work, was detailed and meticulous and finished the same day he started. I would highly recommend him for general handyman work as well as construction. The price he quoted he honored as well.

On time and under budget. The whole project couldn't have gone more smoothly and Ron was great to work with as well as quite tolerable to have him and carpenter Mark in the house. The scope of the work was to convert an unfinished basement, with existing concrete floor into a 500 sq ft, one bedroom rental apartment. Work was done to meet city code and function as an Accessory Dwelling Unit, with kitchen and bath. The work I performed was installing kitchen cabinets and countertops, finishing the floors, installing bathroom vanity and all painting. I first accepted 3 bids from contractors I found through Angie?s List. The bids were within 10% of one another. One reason I hired Ron is that he was able to dedicate himself daily to the job, which I needed completed by a particular date. The only days he wasn?t present were known well in advance. The house had some particular issues to resolve in order to meet code. The gas furnace, overhead ducting and a stairway needed to be relocated. A portion of the house?s center beam needed to be removed and proper support installed. A new electrical panel was needed and relocated. I was interested in having sound dampening materials and methods applied to the construction. On Ron?s first day he gathered his electric, plumbing and HVAC sub-contractorsto discuss ideas of how to solve these particular issues. I was impressed by the brain storming and several ideas they discussed. His subs were well seasoned and familiar with city code. Ron likes to keep busy, work quickly and has a good sense for spotting potential issues. Other than the above mentioned subs, Ron and his experienced assistant Mark handled all the work. A few changes of materials or construction were suggested, and made, for the sake of durability, safety or appearance. His communication regarding actual or anticipated issues was excellent. Ron and Mark were also very helpful giving advice for the work I was taking on. In all, the work was not only done well but done on time! All the above issues were resolved, resulting in a roomier and quieter space than I had envisioned with updated electrical and plumbing systems. It turned out so well that a property management company told me to price it $100/mo. above what I thought was a fair price! I?d certainly hire Ron and Mark again for any size job on the house.

He was excellent. I used him in January. He was super! He responded every time I called him. He showed up on time. His price was not the cheapest. He was nowhere near as expensive as others. The front door he needed to repaint. He suggested that he wait until the weather dries out so it would last longer. I was impressed. He came back exactly when he said he would. He painted the door and it was good. I would give him top marks.
