Cascade Fence and Deck

The job was finished on time and the new fence looks great. My neighbors are already commenting on how nice it looks. Everyone I dealt with at Cascade was professional and pleasant.

Cascade Fence and Deck company did an all around excellent job with our fence replacement. The work required a tear down of old fencing and replacement with new. The team was easy to work with from start to finish and communication was clearly important to all involved. Getting the bid was quick and timely, including multiple options and great patience from Mike (estimator). Scheduling and billing was handled marvelously in sync with our schedule and needs by Sharon, and day to day work was lead by a craftsman (Dustin) that made sure his crew was efficient, meeting our needs, and answering our questions. The project was on time and complete in the week's time that was estimated. It was clear from bid to completion, and even after completion, that the Cascade team had meeting our expectations as priority one. They worked with us on design elements, offered suggestions, and were able to quickly adapt to our changing requests (even during the project). The on-site crew was very good about cleaning up after themselves, and took great care to design & build around some trees & shrubbery. It's obvious they enjoy this creative aspect of their work. In addition, they were very considerate of our neighbors and made sure to check in with them, as needed, to ensure they didn't have any questions or concerns. Most everything for Cascade on this project is graded as "A". Pricing for the project was comparable to other bids....not the highest and not the lowest. I just graded this one category as a "B" because the cost of our project was a little higher than I was hoping for, and that with a slightly lower price point, this company would be a no doubt quality / price point leader. Despite this, I can say that Mike, Dustin, and team were able to utilize prior concrete and stanchions to help keep some costs down, and were also flexible to absorb some minor adjustments that most companies would probably just mark up on the final bill. Cascade did not do this and were true to their quote. The company also includes a warranty on their workmanship, and I'm confident that they will handle any issues that may arise over the life of our fence. Other companies didn't offer a warranty quite like Cascade's. No doubt that we will be recommending Cascade to others that ask us about who to go to for a fence project. We've already had folks comment favorably about the look of the final product. And to top it off.... Cascade gave us a gift of a Cutco knife as a token of appreciation for choosing them for the job. Cascade Fence and Deck demonstrated its first-class workmanship and total commitment to customer satisfaction in replacing our large backyard deck from the ground up. The crew removed our old deck entirely in one day, even taking up the concrete supports for the joists—even, in fact, taking out the old ledger board, since they found the flashing to be far below their standards. Every bit of the old structure was replaced. Daily progress was huge, since they worked so hard and so efficiently. The whole job—duplicating the existing deck, which included long benches—was completed in four days. It was easy to see the care the crew took with every aspect of the construction, the extreme precision with which they measured, cut, and installed materials. Tops of joists were covered with G-Tape to slow rotting—a feature not present in our old deck. Deck boards were attached with screws, not nails as before, so boards can be removed easily if access is ever needed under the deck. We chose a PVC product for durability and ease of maintenance with no sacrifice of visual appeal, since it looks so much like real wood. The finished deck looks absolutely beautiful. The crew, despite working so hard, encouraged us all along to ask about any aspect of the job and answered our questions expertly and thoroughly. All the guys were friendly and enjoyable to be around. We recommend Cascade Fence and Deck to anyone who wants the highest possible quality for this kind of work.

It seems a little strange to me to be this appreciative of a fence company, but truly we had such a fantastic experience at every stage of the process with every person we encountered at Cascade Fence. Ours was not a big job for Cascade Fence, so the level of service we got was not just because they were pulling out all the stops to impress a “big client”. This is just how they do business. From Mike who responded so promptly to my initial inquiry, showed up on time to the bid appointment, made very helpful suggestions, and took copious notes (I noticed he even jotted down personal things that were important to us about the function we wanted the fence to serve like keeping our dog safe and privacy). Then there was Sharon and Cory whose emails always kept us apprised of the schedule for the project with such professionalism and incredible organization. Finally, there was Jonathan and his crew that actually came out and built our beautiful fence who were really one of the most professional, courteous, and impressive team of workers I can imagine. Here is one example of the kind of professional crew they were… The gate on our fence is quite large. We hadn’t included in the contract to have a handle on it, but after it got built it I realized that it would be helpful to have a handle on the outside to close it more easily. As Jonathan was wrapping up the project I just mentioned that I thought I would go out and get a handle and install it. The next morning I left the house and found there was a handle installed on the gate. Jonathan (or one of his crew) had come over even after they had finished the project and installed a handle for us. Now that’s above and beyond. We love our fence. But even more than just the fence, we had such a great experience with Cascade Fence. We would most certainly go with them again if we have another project. We would have paid more for that level of professionalism, but actually their bid happened to be the lowest we got, it was completed ontime, and exactly on budget. That is really a rare thing these days in construction and we are very impressed.

Very happy with our new fence. Love the look and pleased with the instillation. Gates key lock from both sides that give us added security. Crew was very professional and concerned about pleasing us. Johnathan the crew supervisor was kind and explained things well. Our Salesperson Scott was professional and walked through the project in every detail getting it right. We talked with four fence companies and only Cascade knew how to adequately deal with our sloped and terraced yard.

This is a very difficult evaluation to write, since there were both pros and cons to our experience in getting a new deck. When the estimator, Mike, came out, we explained that since this deck was the entry to our home, appearance was very important - that is why we chose clear cedar even though it is very expensive. We also explained that we wanted the deck rebuilt in the same configuration as our old deck. The estimator explained how the fasteners for the decking would be hidden. The first hint we had that Cascade might not understand that we wanted an aesthetically pleasing deck was when the foreman, Cory, emailed us to suggest that the decking overhang the fascia board, exposing the ends of the decking. We nixed that. The main problem was that Cory never came by the house to see the existing deck or discuss the project with us, nor did he accompany the crew when they came to do the work, and in fact never came out until requested by the crew and us. The first problem was when the crew changed the height of the stair risers to the maximum allowed by code (and in one case, in excess of code). When we objected, they readily agreed to change them back. Then we noticed that while the decking fasteners were hidden, on the stairs and at the edge of the house they used big, shinny steel screws that distracted from the appearance of the deck - made it look like it belonged at an industrial site. Cory finally, at the request of the crew, agreed to sink the screws and cover them over with putty. In addition, he wanted to use ugly steel brackets to attach the rails to the railing posts. When we objected, he agreed to use standard hidden nails. We eventually found that there were alternative ways to do each of the things we did not like. Cory did not seem to understand our request for an aesthetically pleasing deck, but the crew (especially Dustin) did, listened to us and stood by our requests. That’s why we ended up with a beautiful deck. The pros are that Cascade was extremely responsive to our requests and accommodated all of them. The crew that did the actual work was excellent and great to work with. Most importantly, we ended up with a beautiful deck. My recommendation would be that if appearance of your deck is important to you, you need to supervise Cascade very carefully. In any case, you will certainly end up with a well-built deck.

We worked with Mike to get the project started. He was awesome to work with and gave us some great input to help make final decisions. He was patient and never pressed us. The kind of front man you want when starting an expensive project like a new deck. Louie and Zack were are main two installers and you couldn't have asked for a more dynamic duo to do the job. They were joined by Lance on day 3 and they all worked hard to complete the project ON TIME. They were professional, detailed, skilled, polite, and did it all with a sense of humor - in the rain! The overall experience was very positive. The crew was very professional, hard-working, and detail oriented. Omar, the project manager, was very good at consulting with us about issues that arose about the design and construction of the fence. Job very well done!

While a little pricey, the entire outfit from estimate to installation is highly professional. Mike (the estimator) was on time, professional, and quick. Josh, the lead, and Shannon, in the office, made sure that all communications about construction and installation were handled quickly, and accurately. Construction took 3 days only! They removed the old fence which included hacking out a ton of ivy and blackberries, removing 2 sumac trees and a series of lilac bushes, and installed the fence and a new gate. Everything is level and beautiful. I split one side of the fence with the next door neighbor so that reduces my cost, and they had a small discount for winter work to be able to keep their guys working.

We had cascade build a fence for us over the summer, we love it. These people went above and beyond to make the work go quickly and smoothly.

Dustin, Jake and Roger from Cascade Fence and Deck began the process of replacing the deck by the removal of the current deck. A day later the construction began. Cascade's employee's were professional, efficient and ethical. The finished product is beyond our expectations and we couldn't possibly be more pleased. In fact, we have additional deck work that we need to address and Cascade will be the company we hire for the work.

This company is A++? They are professional and demand quality every step of the job. Sharon who schedules the work is a wonderful customer service individual and that those same qualities are in every employee. Polite, responsible, dedicated and professional. Their work is impeccable, and from the initial measurement to the final nail, there is complete attention to detail and delivery of a quality product. We will definitely use again and would recommend to anyone.

We are very happy with the work from Cascade. We hired them to replace 110' of old cedar fence. They were on schedule and easy to work with. On install day the workers showed up ready to go. I spoke with the lead person and we walked the fence line to look over areas that may need some install finesse. Omar was great and answered all my questions. He and his crew started work, but shortly after, an additional crew showed up. Turns out a job had been cancelled so they got assigned to us. I know not every job will have the benefit of two crews but it was a fun scene to behold, having six guys swarming the yard and just Getting It Done! The thing that would really make us choose Cascade again though, is not so much the work (even though I give it an A+) but the workers seemed to mesh together so well. They looked and sounded like they were having fun. We enjoyed hearing their banter as they worked. All good-natured stuff. Our job took 2 days and on day two we had what I assume is the regular 3 person crew. My wife and I can't say enough about how professional, polite and sincere these men were. That really makes a difference. They finished up the job late afternoon on day two. The fence looks great. I will hire Cascade again.

Excellent - Install team was really a "team" - each of the 3 knew what to do and how to work together in a coordinated fashion. Along the way, they provided updates to us, so we had an idea of project build progress, every step of the way. Amazingly, they finished in one day! Their clean up was just as professional as their installation. They were beaming with pride during the walk around and so they should be. Sure glad I called them!

Absolutely fabulous. They were so professional, personable,on time, and did extremely great work. Finished the fence within the day and removed all the debris. Highly recommend.

We wanted a nice looking but maintenance free deck (read that as composite and metal that requires no painting/staining and just a quick hose down for cleaning). We received estimates from several companies in the Portland/Vancouver area and chose Cascade based on their portfolio of past jobs and the great reviews they have online and they completely lived up to their reputation. Mike provided us with both the lowest pressure and most helpful sales visit of all the companies that provided us with estimates. He and Cory made several suggestions that were far better than our original drawing, and the original quote only changed due to us adding a privacy screen onto their revised design. Louis and the rest of the work crew arrived early and ready to work every day. The craftsmanship was excellent and the communication of the overall plans and their daily goals made us confident throughout the project that we would get exactly what we wanted. All of our questions were answered immediately and they were by far the most professional crew we’ve ever had work on our house. We couldn’t be happier with the new deck and are looking forward to spending the rest of the summer on it.

Shortly after contacting Cascade Fence (Winter 2015), they sent a representative out to assess the damage. And not surprisingly, the recommendation was to replace the damaged section and in total about 200' of fencing. The company provided a few options, explained in detailed the differences and was empathetic to my situation. Once I made a decision, the next critical element was how long was I going to live with a rather precarious fence until replacement. Although Cascade was booked with many jobs, they found a way to get my fence replaced quickly (within a couple of weeks). The weather wasn't cooperative, setting concrete was tough and their team came back to my house on multiple occasions to get as much done as possible (weather permitting) over those couple of weeks. Overall, although I elected for the highest grade of fence and posts, the experience was excellent and I'd recommend Cascade Fence and Deck to others. Fast forward to the Summer of 2017, and I'm actually in the process of using Cascade Fence for another fencing project. So far, same story as last time. The crew was professional and knowledgeable and took time to explain and answer all my questions. Cascade fence stands by their work. A half year later, one of the boards came loose (it was very close to a tree and difficult to nail) Jonathan R replaced the board and even installed rabbit wire for free on the gate. He showed the same attention to detail and courtesy that I have experienced all along from the entire crew. A well run company!
