Cascade Fence and Deck

We are over-the-top happy with our new deck! From start to finish, the Cascade team we had were very professional and did an outstanding job with keeping us informed during the process. They double-checked for our input on how we wanted something to look whenever that was an option. Also, they were very amenable all the times when I asked them to change a couple things around; and the team especially Jonathan, the supervisor, were very patient and always willing to listen and answer our questions. I appreciated that they also cleaned up the job site each day and were very courteous letting me know when they would be showing up the next day. They were very efficient and skilled, including strategically tackling some obstacles that came up. Jonathan had this fun little drone he used to take videos of the progress and that was impressive to watch the drone and also see the transformation from the sky above. At the completion of the job there were just a couple minor cosmetic issues with the deck (associated with ipa), which we let them know and they came back to fix right away. They had to order some parts for that fix, that we are still waiting for, but we are confident that the final details will soon be complete. I would without hesitation recommend them to my friends and anyone else wanting an excellent, quality job from a team of hard-working professionals with positive attitudes as a bonus. The fence/gates look so great! It has a more private feel to my property, which I love! I've already passed along Cascade Fence & Deck's info to my best friend & her husband! I have to give Leif & Tyler a two thumbs up! Leif was very patient since it took me a little bit to finally pull trigger. Had a deck put on the front of my small cottage. The entire process with Cascade was great. They are professional, on-time, and detailed. Even a lot of fun to work with. During the planning and estimating phase, I really got a sense that they were paying a lot of attention and then during construction, we made some changes in the field that they were happy to accommodate which proved it once again. We had selected Cascade Fence and Deck from a competitive bid process in 2019 to replace our back deck. We were so pleased with the results (and the company) that we hired them all over again in 2020 to replace our deck on the front and side of the house. They are first class!

We had another very positive experience with Cascade. The office got Mike out quickly do prepare the estimate, and they scheduled the project quickly as well. Tyler and Walter did the work, and we are quite happy with the new fence. It is both well-made and attractive. And both Tyler and Walter worked both hard and efficiently.

We got five bids due to the size of the project. Cascade was the next to the most expensive, but they also included higher quality decking material and a superior guarantee. The project manager and installation team were top notch. The installers worked tirelessly through Portland winter rain and cold without impacting their professional install. The final results were BEAUTIFUL. We were so pleased that we have started a new project on the front side of the house. Cascade Fence and Deck is awesome.

This is the third time we've used Cascade Fence & Deck, and this was, by far, the biggest job. They completely demolished and rebuilt our 101-year-old bungalow porch. The project was not without unwelcome surprises, but they met each challenge with smart solutions and superior execution. The whole team, from beginning to end, were honest, cheerful, and enthusiastic. We could not ask for more!

Cascade Fence and Deck installed a new patio cover for me, after dismantling the existing 67-year-old cover. From start to finish, everything was perfect. Zack was always responsive, he listened to my concerns and made sure things were done properly. I had had 5 or 6 other contractors look at the job, and Zack was the only one who could explain how the old cover was attached to the house, which was a huge concern to me, in terms of how the demo might compromise the structure of the house. Scheduling was prompt and clear. Wayne and Lance (who are CF&D employees, not sub-contractors) did the job with professional perfection. They welcomed and encouraged my questions, and successfully dealt with an unforeseen issue with the old structure. They skillfully connected the new downspout to the pipe of my existing drywell, which had been another of my concerns. Wayne was able to back their 25 ft long rig into my driveway, which is narrow and difficult to access. They were on time, they cleaned everything up, took care to make the new concrete look seamless and professional and did some extra work so that I could hang an awning. This was the best experience I’ve ever had with a contractor. You can’t go wrong with Cascade Fence and Deck! They have integrity, and are have amply demonstrated total commitment to customer satisfaction.

Out of teh other companies, they're the one who seems to tailor that bids to our property needs. They gave good advice in materials and placements. They did a great job with a reasonably priced. They cleaned up, they exceeded my expectations and they're just great. I was very pleased with the work and I will recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic! Tyler, Armando and crew were punctual and professional. They kept the working area neat and tidy and worked non-stop. In addition to building a stunning, carefully constructed fence their extreme care around the plants and the way the trimmed and tidied the shrubs was much appreciated. The whole backyard looks amazing! On a personal note -- these are excellent, well spoken, polite men who are precision craftsmen with good work ethics. I would trust my Mother's house and yard to them any day.

Put in the request to fence in the whole yard. There was a bit of miscommunication and when this was brought to Cascade's attention they proposed a solution and immediately fixed the issue. The whole team was really professional, responsive, and just...really nice! Would hire again, for sure.

We chose Cascade Fence and Deck to replace an old deck. Leif did an excellent job presenting us with options for our project. His knowledge of materials and design really helped us create the deck we wanted. The crew, Jonathan and Victor, arrived promptly on the arranged date and time. They introduced themselves, reviewed the scope of the project and answered all questions. They worked diligently to demo the large deck, pour footings and remove the old material from the site on the first day. Jonathan was careful to ensure nails were picked up and the area safe at the end of each work day. As promised during the bid process, the area was always left neat and clean of all debris when crew departed. Jonathan kept the project on schedule and led his crew well during all phases of the construction. He is a very good communicator, telling us of their arrival each day and the progress expected. At the close of work, Jonathan would update the status of work completed that day and confirm expected arrival for the following day. We found Jonathan and his crew to be very concientious and they paid attention to details. This work ethic resulted in our beautiful new deck, which exceeded our expectations. We recently bought a house and needed a fence built to enclose our yard to protect our kids from the busy street we now live on. There was no standing fence to replace and, in addition to figuring out what kind of fencing we wanted, we also had to figure how much of the yard to enclose – it wasn't so straightforward. Cascade was one of 7 bids I collected for the project, and from the start, they stood apart from the others. Leif came out to meet with me and, after hearing what I envisioned, took a bunch of flags and put them into the yard to designate where the fence line would be – the only one of the 7 bids to do that. I appreciated that because it let me know that he clearly understood what I wanted and that his bid would be reflective of that. He then used a measuring wheel to measure the linear feet of fencing we’d need; I mention this because many of the other bids I got used a hand-held measuring tape (resulting in a much less accurate estimate) to estimate the linear footage. I think it was later that night that Leif emailed me the bid, which included a map he created to show exactly where the fence line would be and the different heights we discussed for the different sections of the yard. Again, Cascade was the only bid to include a map of the project. BE AWARE: if you live in Portland, there is a zoning ordinance that requires the height of any fence section built beyond the face of the house to be a max height of 3.5 feet; there are also set-back rules you should be aware of. Here’s all the info on that: [*** Link removed ***] To make a long story short, Leif was very accessible throughout the project, even responding to my emails sent after business hours. He was very patient and collaborative as we changed the design after learning more about the zoning laws - he even called the city of Portland on our behalf to find out more about how the laws affected our particular project. And, despite being told that it would take 2-3 weeks to get on their schedule, it turned out that we got on schedule within 2 days. I don’t know if they prioritized our project because of the risk to our kids with the street or what, but I really appreciated that it was a much shorter wait than I had anticipated. The project itself took 4 days to complete, and the crew: Omar, John and Pano, did a fantastic job! They were very communicative throughout and clearly wanted us to be happy with their work. They were approachable, professional and courteous. During the build, one of our neighbors wasn’t happy with where a part of the fence line was going to be. It was John who recommended the solution we ultimately went with – a solution we all felt good about and looks great! Two areas that could be improved: 1. Zoning. I happened to find out about the Portland fence and deck zoning laws from another contractor. It didn’t seem that Cascade was aware of the PDX laws. Perhaps the onus SHOULD be on the homeowner for things like this, but as a new homeowner, I didn’t even know to check. Had I gone ahead with my initial plan to build a 6-foot fence all around, even in the front, I could have been fined by the city and required to re-do the front fencing to bring it into compliance, something I probably would have had to pay for out-of-pocket, not covered by Cascade’s warranty. 2. Transparancy in pricing. Like everyone else on the planet, we’re on a tight budget. And, because of the pricing software Cascade uses, it was difficult to figure out how to manipulate the different variables in order to bring the project cost down. At one point, as we were changing the fence design to conform to the zoning laws, the new pricing looked off – it didn’t seem to go down as much as it should have. I asked Leif about it and he fixed it, but this is something I would have appreciated more visibility into. Bottom line: I was very pleasantly surprised by how much Cascade stood apart from the other fence companies I got bids from – in terms of professionalism, punctuality and accessibility. They did a fantastic job and I would hire them again for another project in the future. Thank you Leif, John, Pano and Omar!

This was not your regular deck/fence construction project. This staircase had to be safe, stylish and engineeringly sound and had to be designed from scratch. One of the key elements for us was that they had an engineer as part of the team to ensure construction, footings, and erosion were all take into account to have a safe structure Mike, the salesman was knowledgeable and put together the budget. Cory, the construction lead and Mitchell, the engineer constructed the framing and footings and then a full team of 4/5 guys finished off the instal under Cory's supervision The whole team was polite, professional and cleaned up after each day What I liked was the patience and expertise in finding solutions to little hiccups that happen on a non-standard project like this and the end result is really good See the before and after pictures Would highly recommend

Great, Cascade referred us to Fence Repair Master and Joe set us up with a custom gate of his design, showed up when he said he would, and completed the work beyond our expectations.

From start to finish the entire experience with Cascade Fence and Deck was top notch. Scott came to our house and gave us a detailed explanation of how they would build our deck. It was clear in the initial meeting that the company was committed to quality. The job was scheduled and the crew arrived when promised. We had the same crew throughout the three and a half day project. Omar, Dustin, Young and Nate were polite, hard working and had the strong attention to detail that I expected. For them it wasn’t about getting the job done as fast as possible, but getting it done right. This was clear watching them work. Rarely anymore do you see craftsmen spend so much time ensuring that every aspect of a project is done to perfection. At the completion of the project Omar wasn’t happy with a very small gap near the stairs. A crew came back the next day to remove the pieces and do it again. I’ll be honest, we got many quotes for this project and Cascade Fence and Deck was not the cheapest. There are many different approaches that companies take to deck building. If you want your project built to last by a company that is truly proud of what they do, spend the extra money and go with Cascade Fence and Deck. You’ll be glad you did.

Everyone did an excellent job from quote to finish. Zach came out on several occasions to make the plans work, he was responsive, respectful and knowledgeable about what we wanted done. The work was done quickly by Johnathan, Lance and Israel. They were great at getting everything done so quickly and cleanly. It was actually cleaner after they left! My praise for everyone at Cascade could not more effusive. Johnsthan was phenomenal and thoughtful, we had a last minute change to plans and they made the change free of charge.

The service from them was A+ from the first contact with Scott to the completion with Cory, Leif, Omar and Young They were very attentive to my needs, attention to detail, arrived when they said would and completed the project as stated. I would recommend them highly. Excellent teamwork!

Cascade did an excellent job from explaining the bid options to completion of the project, they even replaced our mailbox at no additional cost when I asked if they could help.

The entire team at cascade fence and deck was incredible. From giving us a bid to helping us find ways to save money, as well as the final execution. We researched many companies and they were the most timely with response and got the job done beautifully and on time!

All the employees were professional and efficient. Most of the fence was straight forward surrounding my backyard. However, there was on section that was installed under an existing awning. The area was tight and a laurel hedge needed to be taken back. They did that with no problem. Once the work was done, I noted that a gutter needed to be installed under the awning because rain would directly fall on the fence; but when we measured for the gutter, we realized that the area would not accommodate the drain. I called Cascade Fence and Deck back. Within two days there were two men back to remove the top section of the fence. They were very accommodating. I am totally satisfied. The price of the fence was high, but I felt like I got what I paid for and am happy with the project.

Perfect! They were fast, efficient and a pleasure to work with. On time and always kept in contact with me. I never had to call back. I highly recommend them.

Cory Wantaja came to my home to provide an estimate on replacing two older, cedar gates. He was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Most important, he provided a solution to my gate problem that allowed me to forestall having to replace both gates at the moment. That type of assistance is no longer common practice. Thank you, Cory. I definitely will call Cascade Fence and Deck when I need to replace the gates and redo the fence in its entirety.
