Using Angie's list as a reference, called several flooring contractors for bids. Two did not bother to respond. Alexsey did not have the lowest bid, but his explanation of what needed to be done, how he would do it, what wasn't worth doing cost/benefit wise, made the most sense to me. Made down payment of 50% and signed contract. Alexsey and assistant showed up on time, on schedule, and completed the work when promised. They did not waste time and were always working. The house was empty, i.e., the floors were done before we moved in. Some additional work was needed which caused the final price to be higher than the initial bid, but that was because of hidden damage to some floor joists. Alexsey expained what was needed and got my approval before he did the additional work. Since the work was done, have had several contractors out to bid on different jobs, plumbing, electrical, etc., and without exception, they have all commented on the floors, using words like beautiful, great job, etc. I recommend Alexsey to anyone who needs their hardwood floors refinished, installed, or repaired without reservation.

Aleksey is wonderful! I absolutely love love love my new floor. It turned out so much nicer than I'd even anticipated. Aleksey is extremely conscientious and takes great pride in his work. He is punctual, efficient and obviously an expert in his field. I called Aleksey a week before year-end hoping I could have floors completed before 12/31/11. Aleksey went out of his way to make sure all was done in the time frame requested which was amazing. He was great at explaining process to me (I ask zillions of questions) and was really patient with me. He takes such care with what he's doing as if it was his own house which I really appreciate. He also took time to show me eight different samples of the stain color as I was having a hard time deciding. I chose the ebony which is out of the norm and it just looks so beautiful. I must attach a picture. Aleksey also came back and helped me move three large pieces of furniture days after the project was completed which was way way beyond the call of duty. Aleksey is definitely now my floor guy forever. Thank you thank you thank you! Everyone is amazed at how gorgeous all turned out.

He showed up to give us an estimate when he said he would, and he always arrived and worked in a timely and professional manner. It was an excellent experience, from beginning to end. We got several bids, with which AVA's was competitive. We have had several wood floors installed, and got a feeling of competence and professionalism from Aleksey, which was thoroughly justified. We were very happy with the installation, the staining process (which can be very tricky as far as getting the "perfect" color), and the finish coats. I really can hardly wait to use him again (other than the fact that it'll mean we'll have a torn apart kitchen...).

We obtained 3 estimates beforehand and Alexsey was the most punctual with the estimate and also the least expensive (by $2000 compared to another estimate). He started the project earlier than he had anticipated and finished before his estimated deadline. We could not be happier with the floors and the whole process. We would strongly recommend working with Alexsey and AVA.

He was wonderful. Answering all our questions. He is not the cheapest but his work is wonderful and worth the money. He is very knowledgable. He was punctual and friendly. I would recommend him to all my friends and would definitely use him again

The floor was worn and stained in two rooms from urine and a leaking dessicant. Aleksey looked, measured and estimated what he should do to improve it in June. Before he could start on the job we had to finish work on the ceiling, windows, walls, remove the quarter rounds at the bottom of the walls and clear the area. Aleksey started as soon as we were ready, in August, and completed the work in five days. The result was beautiful! I would recommend AVA to everyone needing wood floor refinishing.

I called Aleksey after reading reviews on Angie's list and he came out to our house within a day or two to provide an estimate. We were actually considering a few alternatives, and he was happy to provide a few different bids based on total size of project and materials. We were trying to match existing hardwoods in the house, and Aleksey provided some excellent information and suggestions. He emailed me the quotes within a few days, we talked on the phone, and agreed to the plan that fit our goals and budget. Two weeks later Aleksey dropped off the wood as we agreed so that it could acclimate to our house for a few days. The day the project was to begin, Alexsey and his assistant arrived at the exact time they said they would, and completed the project in less time than they expected. The floors look fantastic. The match to the existing hardwoods surpassed our expectations, and the room just looks like a completely different space. What a difference. There was one aspect of the job that my wife and I decided we wanted to look a little different. I called Aleksey, and he was at the house that day and completed the change to exactly our specifications. I can not say enough about his professionalism and skill. He is not the cheapest, but I definitely feel like I got good value. The work is of the highest quality and I will use Aleksey again when we remodel other areas of our house.

Aleksey was such a joy to work with. He gave us a quick and very reasonable estimate and we were happy to proceed in hiring him. He installed the new flooring to tie in with existing oak flooring. There is no way to tell the old flooring from the new. He did an incredible job! We could not be happier! Thank you, Aleksey!

He explained the process of repairing the floors and explained all our options. He brought the wood in and had it sit there to acclimate. He layed plywood on top of the old floor and placed the new wood on top. I thought there would be more dust but there was not. We has a waters based coat put on top, and my wife, who is very sensitive to odors did not nothing anything at all. It all went very well.

Aleksey was right on time to give us the estimate, he explained everything really well. He was punctual every day and did a great job. He even moved the free standing kitchen island to make sure the finish was uniform throughout. He cleaned up afterwards and gave me all the information about keeping my floors looking great.

I can't say enough good things about Alexi. What a guy. He really did a wonderful job on making out home look spectacular. Part of the job involved collaborating with carpet contractors on a stairway. We had a few issues with the nap of the carpet and Alexi came and solved the problem in less than a couple of hours. The stairs look WONDERFUL. As does the rest of the house. Alexi was on time, every day he worked for us. When he thought he would be late, he called in advance. He was clean, respectful of our privacy and really top-flight in his craftsmanship. Even if you don't use him, he's worth getting a bid from.

Aleksey did a fabulous job on my floors. He responded promptly to my request for an estimate, discussed the pros and cons of engineered wood versus solid hardwood flooring, did a thorough examination of my existing floors and clearly outlined my options. His bid was not the lowest I received, but it was far from the highest, and I feel he provided a higher quality product than the other companies I considered. On the job, he arrived on time each day and got right to work. He and his assistant were professional, respectful and efficient and the quality of their work speaks for itself. I would certainly use AVA again and will enthusiastically recommend them to anyone looking for hardwood flooring services.

We had Aleksey install a wood floor on our main floor and stairs last year and we were so pleased with his work, we called him back this year to do more upstairs. We called Aleksey on Monday and asked him to give us an estimate. He was at our house in less than two hours and started the work the VERY NEXT DAY. As with the last job he did for us, he came on time or early every morning, he always cleaned up after himself, he fixed all squeaks and subfloor issues - including a redo of our top stair/hall floor - free of charge. He is extremely professional and does everything "by the book." No mistakes, no weird corners or stain problems. Everything is just as it should be. Our floor that he did last year is holding up beautifully. The three coats of finish really help, I think. We are 100% satisfied with Aleksey and recommend him do everyone. In fact, after seeing our floors, two of our neighbors have already used him to redo their main floors as well. He is a gem and I wish he had every kind of skill so that I could always work with him on my home improvements projects. We will have him back one more time to do our playroom soon.

Aleksey is an artist at installing hardwood floors! He transitioned the new hardwood in the family room into the existing hardwood floor in the kitchen, and it's impossible to tell where the old floor ends and the new floor begins. He explained everything to us before he began. He did everything he told us he would do, and he did it with great skill and attention to detail. He arrived on time and cleaned up meticulously after himself at the end of each day. There were areas in the kitchen where the old hardwood floor looked damaged, especially in front of the refrigerator, and now the entire kitchen floor looks like new. He also noticed that the seal was faulty around the toilet in the guest bathroom, and his observation saved us from future water damage there. Aleksey has a very friendly, pleasing personality. He is a true professional in every way and takes great pride in his work. We highly recommend him to anyone wanting new hardwood floors installed or their existing hardwood floors refinished. I called, he came Alexi he gave me an estimate for everything and just the kitchen too so I could decide what to do. We spoke several times so we had a meeting of the minds. He did the job and cleaned up. I found NO SAWDUST FROM THE JOB OR LEFT OVER GARBAGE!

It went perfectly. 1st, I should say that I did not find Aleksey direct but rather he was referred to me via another highly rated wood floor refinisher who felt that the job was more in Alekseys ballpark as it needed a heavy duty old school grinder to get that glue up and A. was one of the few in town with the tools and expertise to do it. Bottom line, he arrived on time each day, did exactly what he said he would, charged us the exact quote and did great work. He even brought his brother when we decided early in the project to do a few stairs and a landing and his brother did a wonderful job as well with some back breaking work.

I used Aleksey to install the hardwood on my main floor in the past and was very happy with his work. This time I had him install prefinished hardwood on the second floor of my home in three bedroom and a hallway. Just as expected Aleksey was a wonderful. He is extremely profesional, prompt and hard working. In a perfect world all contractors would take a page from Aleksey's book. If you are looking to have work done on your hardwood floors you need to hire Aleksey!

Aleksey was one of the most professional contractors I've ever hired. He is very punctual, honest, and hard working. Aleksey offered a very fair estimate on the job, and didn't change it at all. Aleksey arrives punctually every morning, and works mostly non-stop through the day. He has a deep work ethic, and it shows. He did many small things for us without asking that clearly show his professionalism. For instance, we neglected to remove the lower shelf in our pantry. His buffers wouldn't reach underneath them, so he removed the shelf, all of it's contents, and sealed it all on the counter to protect it. Our house was sealed perfectly and there was virtually no dust anywhere. We were so surprised that there was no mess! Each night at the end of the work day, Aleksey cleaned up after himself. He would place all of his equipment neatly in a corner, and roll up all of his electrical cords. There would be no left over dirt, dust, garbage, etc. Aleksey was very respectful of our house, and our opinions. He listened to us, and suggested some wonderful ideas. In fact, we are THRILLED we listened to his advice on the stain. It is GORGEOUS! Overall we are so delighted with everything Aleksey did, and the way he did it. This is the second time I've hired AVA. Aleksey is honest, hard working, straight-forward, organized, and shows up on time and sticks to his agreed schedule. His pricing is fair. The floors were nice and almost didn't need to be resealed and he's honest enough that he told me I could get away with not doing them yet. We proceeded anyway, taking advantage of the furniture being out from the end of a remodel. The bid was for one coat, but when I reviewed his work there was some grit and dust in the finish. I texted him that I wasn't happy with the results and the very next morning he buffed out the stuff and put on another coat and did not try to charge me extra to fix the issue. Ideally he would have cleaned the floor a little bit better the first time to avoid the grit and dust, but in lieu of that I truly appreciated that he stood by his work, the original bid, and was incredibly responsive to the issue. In the end, my floors turned out beautifully and I would hire Aleksey again.

We left on a cruise and came home to new floors. There was no dust in the house from the job and Aleksey moved another job to accommodate our schedule. The whole thing could not have gone more smoothly.

Aleksy does all the work himself. He gave me an accurate estimate of cost and time, was punctual and clearly an expert in his field. He told me exactly what steps he would take and what type of finish he would use, was very careful and considerate about containing the dust and minimizing the noise. The end product is an absolutely gorgeous, original fir floor in my hall bath. My experience was completely satisfying from start to finish.

We went to Angie's list and selected the top three for bids and did not go with the cheapest. Alex was very professional and always on time with meetings and work. ALWAYS . The floors were a challenge because of the light and oil finish that was used. Let me say that I am a picky guy and want the job done right. Alex proved why he has all the AAAA ratings. We brought in factory rep and others to bring this floor to its present condition and I am pleased. Many other contractors when faced with any problems would just put the problem on others or just not go the distance to make things right. ALEX WENT THE DISTANCE AND HIS HONOR IS SUCH THAT ALL CONTRACTORS SHOULD READ AND DO AS HE DID. All I can say is that He is an honorable contractor and one that anyone would and should try. I interviewed a few Angie's List contractors. Aleksey was the best bid and seemed the most willing to listen to me and educate me and work with me on the price. He broke out each piece of the bid so that I could, for example, choose to save money by removing the carpet myself. I let him do this but did remove the existing baseboard moulding myself to save $50. The floors had suffered much abuse in 66 years and had stains and holes and water damage and missing chunks and lots of other problems. Since this is a low-end rental, I elected to fix some of these problems but to leave a lot of the stains and go for "character" for budget reasons. Aleksey was conscious that all along I was price sensitive and he both saved me a lot with his suggestions, and refrained from trying to up sell me on anything. The floors look amazing for what I paid, and the one major repair is invisible. Most impressive to me, though, was the way he handled the numerous tricky and challenging moulding issues. He had to go around all sorts of curves and did a really great job. He also had to craft complex weird-angled bi-level transition strips between the laminate in the kitchen and the wood in the living room and these look so professional one would assume they were manufactured that way. Also, I originally picked out moulding that he went and got, and when I subsequently changed my mind, he took that back and got a different style at no extra charge and didn't make me feel a bit bad about the change. He worked around my schedule and my vacancy timetable, even working on one weekend day (I think). He is extremely customer-service oriented and communicating with him was a pleasure. He does have an accent which makes him maybe a little harder to understand than a native English speaker, but I didn't let that stop me from using him and boy, was that the right decision! He also has a very even temperament so that when surprises turned up, he simply educated me about my options, offered advice when I asked, and then set about fixing the problem without getting irritated or anything like that. He is not a complainer. I'm kind of a chatterbox and he never showed any impatience. His paperwork is precise and we signed a change order when I added some things just like all the "how to work with a contractor" books suggest. I am so pleased with the end result, especially given the initial condition of the floors, which was, frankly, terrible. For a relatively small upfront expense, I will never have to replace the carpet between tenants (and their dogs) again.

They were prompt to come for an estimate. Showed up right on time. Gave us options on products they could use along with reasons why and why not each would be used. We scheduled an appointment. Again they showed up right on time. They helped us move some very heavy pieces of furniture out of the room. They were very careful and thorough. Finished right on time. The floors look beautiful!

Went great. Ava construction was quick and professional. The quality was excellent and I would recommend them to anyone.
