They charged me $12000 for their services. They were competitively priced and knowledgeable about the products. They did a pretty good job with the installation. I will use their services again in the future.

I just moved into a house. The furnace is located in a dirt-floor crawl space (that you literally have to crawl in.) The air quality was terrible and I was considering moving the furnace. The first 2 companies gave me quotes betwee $6500 and over $8000 for the work depending on options. Narrows came out, told me that sealing the ducts would fix the problem and that the gas company would pay for it. They don't seal ducts, and they didn't charge me for the advice but they did take the time to email me the information about the gas company rebate program. They were right, saving me $6400+. So I called them to clean the ducts and service the furnace. They were available the same week (rather than the several week wait others gave), they cleaned out over 10 years of dirt in the ducts (they still had dirt from the oil furnace that was decommissioned 11 years ago), cleaned the ducts from under the house (not easy or pleasant and not their usual procedure with a furnace location like mine but it got the ducts cleaner) and told me about a cheap filter that I could buy at a local home improvement store to further improve the home's air quality. Honest, top notch work, all three people I've met were pleasant and they don't try to sell you something you don't need - even when that's what you thought you needed. 100% recommend these guys.

I wanted a new Trane furnace and heat pump for my home. Narrows Heating and Air Conditioning was recommended by my remodeling contractor, who had previously hired this company to install a similar Trane system in his home. Narrows was one of 3 bids, which were all in the $12,000s. While they were not the absolute lowest bid, their professional approach won my confidence immediately. First, they were not a one man show - they had depth. One person did the estimation and sales, 2 other guys did the installation, and a third person did the set-up and teaching of the consumer (me) on how to use the fancy touch-screen thermostat, which we love. The other 2 bidders wanted to install the new heat pump where the old one had been. Only Narrows analyzed the situation and suggested a better placement on the opposite side of the house (more expensive and labor intensive on their end, yet my final price was comparable). RESULT: Quiet bedrooms. Workmanship was top quality, fast. clean, and on time, with all staff completely courteous and professional. Also, the salesman showed me a HIGHLY persuasive independent Puget Sound HVAC trade journal which showed that Narrows was one of a tiny handful of outfits in this area that got their highest rating in every category. So I believe I got the best brand AND one of the best installers around. I would say if you are anywhere between Olympia and S. Seattle you should definitely seek a bid from Narrows Heating and AC if you want a Trane system.

We dealt with Chris Calhoun through the quote process and up until the installation occurred. Chris was professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. He looked at our current system, and took measurements of the system and the house itself. He left us with a good amount of reading material about the product line, consumer reports, third-party company reviews. He took the facts, answered questions, left us facts, and did not really present a sales pitch at all. We got the quotes three days later along with a house load report based on his measurements of our house, number of windows and vents. That was helpful and appreciated. The installation took two days. Although Chris had mentioned he would show up with a crew the first day, we only saw the one installer. The installer was prompt and seemed to worked efficiently throughout the day. Even though in our pre-install talks with Chris, we were told they would get the heater up and running the first day, the electrician was not available so we had no heater (thankfully it was a mild night). The second day, the installer and electrician worked to finish the job. We were told the electricians were employees of Narrows, but ours was a sub-contractor (although he seemed to do a good job). The installer was kind enough to put the water heater in first the second day and get it going so my husband could shower before going to work; we appreciated that. When the work was finished, another employee arrived to inspect the work, turn the system on and make any adjustments and walk us through the system and answer questions. He was very thorough. We were a little surprised that Chris did not show up or call to check on how things were going or went (after the fact) and by lack of communication about some paperwork details by the office staff (although the office staff was always helpful and friendly). These little details and the fact that the electrician was not an employee as expected (and not available until the second day) is why I reduced the Professionalism score. I received no heads up from Chris about any unexpected changes, so not sure what happened there. The system is working well and we are pleased with the product we purchased. Overall our experience was that the Narrows employees (and subcontractors) were knowledgeable and worked hard. We would definitely recommend them to others.

The rep could not answer my questions and spent very little time in my home. He did not ask me any questions about what kind of furnace I was looking for in terms of efficiency or any other consideration. I was very disappointed and had a very strong impression that if the rep was any indication of the quality of service this was not a company I would get anywhere near. I read online that the prices for this company were significantly lower but when I compared actual services and accessories offered there was very little difference. If I had no knowledge of what I was looking for in a gas furnace I would have done myself quite a disservice by only contacting this company. Glad I didn't.

I called in and said I need my air conditioning serviced.. The company wrote it up as a heat pump needing repair (or service). Since I don't have a heat pump, I have an air conditioner, he fixed the furnace. Mind you this was in the middle of July. Since I was there, the employee could have easily confirmed what I needed. After servicing the furnace, he tore into the air conditioner. Finally, he came and told me there were issues with the unit and it would require an estimate (apparently he was not capable of costing the project out on the spot). He called the office after I pointed out his mistake and spoke with a supervisor. But rather than charging me $75 for the estimate/service fee, which is what she said to do, he charged me the full $150 for the service fee AND time charge. Any business man would have asked for $75 and not have charged me the extra $75 time fee. They emailed me an estimate after telling me they mailed one (never showed). The estimate calls for an approximate amount of $452.00 needed to fix BUT does not break out the estimate in case the unit is unrepairable (I was told if the leak is in the aluminum, then the compressor will need to be replaced, another charge) I am now sitting here, two weeks later, with no air conditioning and going into the hot time of the year. I had to go to Best Buy and purchase a small stand-alone unit at a cost of some $550.00 to just keep the place liveable while I come up with a resolution.

They came in and did all the work in a day. My heat pump was broken and they put in a new, much more efficient one, which has resulted in lower electric bills. They used good equipment. I took a lot of estimates before the work started, and their price was about average.

Our furnace stopped working just as the September cold snap started. We called several company's to fix it but could not find someone who worked on Lennox. We called Narrows and they sent someone out the same day. Bob was polite and very helpful. He could not find anything wrong so he assumed it was the thermostat. He told us we could replace it cheaper then having him do it and told us where to go to get a new one. Once we did that we realized it wasn't the thermostat, we called Narrows and they sent Bob right back out. It turns out we needed a new circuit board for the Furnace. He apologized for the error and did not charge us for the second service call. He ordered the part and it came in the very next day. He replaced the part and tuned up the furnace for the season. He also gave us helpful information on maintenance and energy saving tips. Over all it was a great experience.

They were so thoughtful about accommodating me. They drew directions on how to change the filter. The filters were easy to get at any store. They did what they said they would do. They were extremely efficient. They had a team that got the job done very quickly.

At 8:30 am our furnace decided that it had worked enough for that day and just died. Hate that. Called Narrows Heating and A/C and was told that someone would be here within an hour. Amazing. Mike rang our doorbell approx 1 hour later and after introducing himself he slipped on his shoe coverings and professionally began performing what I hoped was not an autopsy on our furnace. Within 10 minutes he had identified the problem and within 30 had replaced the igniter and then checked for other known, to him, problems associated with the make and model of my furnace. Very friendly and very accommodating by keeping us informed of what he found.

Narrows was very courteous and flexible in setting up an appointment date and specific time. The work was performed efficiently and with good explanation of what the technician was doing.

GREAT PROMPT SERVICE, COURTEOUS MAN WORKED ON THE SYSTEM, FRIENDLY AND HAD NO PROBLEM BILLING US FOR THE SERVICE CALL THAT DAY. HE MADE ONE QUICK CALL TO VERIFY AND ASK PERMISSION AND THEN WE SIGNED THE PAPERWORK AFTER HE REPAIRED THE AC.
