Generally service runs fairly well. However, service is spotty frequently and has intermittent connection problems. Whenever the cable technician installs another person in the neighborhood on the same pole, they install the protective covering incorrectly and water collects in the covering rather than being shed by the covering, thus resulting in shorts at the telephone pole. Getting service to come and fix this is always an issue.

Very frustrating. I finally bought a new router and just started over.

As a long time cable customer we noted our bill kept climbing yet advertisments offer new customers more than we have for alot less. We contacted the Customer Service Dept to discuss it and was pleasantly surprised. The representative immediately transferred me to a department I did not know existed titled "Customer Retention Dept". A representative pulled up our account, discussed what features we had and what we might like to have if given the option. We said we liked what we had; however, we wished we could get HBO; however, the add-on fee to our current package we felt was too much. The representative indicated he would need time to review things further and scheduled a call back for 2-hours later. Just prior to the appointed time, the Comcast representative called back and we were pleasantly surprised. He said we could keep what we have and, based on the fact we were long standing Comcast customers, they could lower our bill by $50.00 a month for 1-year AND would add HBO to our account for free for that same 12-month period! We feel Comcast is managing their business in a good way by rewarding those who remain loyal customers!coma

Very badly. All I wanted to do was switch my service from one home in Monroe to my new home in Lakewood. I began online and was ready to be pleasantly surprised that Comcast would be as easy as my other utilities. Unfortunately, it took a turn for the worse quickly. After 10 minutes they insisted I chat online with an agent. Thus began a back and forth as the agent attempted to sell me more services. An hour later they succeeded - at a price less than my what i was currently been charged. By half. Nice, but a pain to obtain since it wasted an hour of my time. On installation day, I rushed home from my moving and waited. No one showed and there was no note left on the door. I called the next day and the person I spoke with was polite, but I was frustrated. We rescheduled and the installer came on time the next appointment. Sadly, he gave me the wrong box and two days later he scheduled to come back out again to install the correct box. All has worked properly, but this is by far too much of a hassle for what should have been a simple procedure.

Description of Work: My internet is through comcast and we have not been happy with them. Their customer service is terrible. You often times wait on the phone for a long time before you can even talk with anyone. Then when you get through, they are not helpful. I am also not happy with their prices. They give you a good price for 1 year and then they increase the price really high and you have to change companies if you want a lower price. We are not happy with them.

One year service rate expired and new service rate for same service increased. I requested a new service equal to the same high speed internet home service at a lower rate. Customer service referred me to a Customer Specialist to find a lower rate and he did .

Very professional help from a courteous representative. Problem fixed with just one call.
Description of Work: We were having trouble with our DVR box not recording the scheduled programs. We phoned in to their 24 hr Customer Service and the representative analyzed the problem, and worked with us over the phone to reset the DVR and upload a fresh version of the software. It took approximately 20 minutes and now everything works great again.

The mechanical hook up went fine, but it took an in-person visit to comcast's office to get the mailing address and actual services I was being charged for correct. I was being charged (at this point it was for several months) for a high-speed internet connection that the customer service rep helping me said was not physically possible to deliver to our location! Also, for some reason that no one can explain our mailing address (which is different than the service address) was changed after months of correct billing. Eventually I realized I had not received or paid our cable bill that month so it was paid late - something that had never happen in our 8 years of cable service with Comcast. I called to straighten out the mailing address and it took two more months to get it right. In the meantime, I was charged a late fee for that one month and it took phone call after phone call and threat of stopping service to get the late fee refunded. They actually try to convince you that the only way to refund late fees is if you take on more additional monthly services then they can give you credit against that! Don't fall for it - I got the late fee back.

They gave me options and spelled out the costs very carefully. While it STILL cost more than I told them I wanted to spend, it was a better deal than I've had. The staff was very friendly. I have often considered cancelling sertvice and trying DirecTV and an ISP. You have to go back to them repeatedly, every 6-12 months, to get a discount deal or their bill creeps up. This deal had no contract commitment, which was great. The previous time I talkd to them, on the phone, they'd only offered me a deal if I committed to 24 months.
Description of Work: I went into the Redmond location to try to find a way to reduce my bill, or to just give up the service. I ALWAYS have better service face-to-face in their "store" (whatever they call it) then over the phone.

Well Comcast. We feel held hostage to the price and the beaurocracy of Comcast on principal. Our experience with the actual cable, high speed internet and VOIP phone have actually been good. The line at the support store and phone support always require a deep breath of patience and going into the "zen" zone. Just expect an hour and you could get out sooner! So while we pay alot we have gotten good service as long as everything is going ok. We did have to go back and get the bill readjusted as we were quoted a lower price than they billed us. So watch your bills.

Finally, after I had subscribed for 3 ½ months, a Comcast tech actually got it to work right! The internet ran unacceptably slow 95% of the time. While I am paying for 60 mbps, usual speed was 0.5 to 3 mbps. The exceptions occur late at night or early in the morning. 3 prior cable technicians had installed, checked, double-checked all the cables and hardware and it seemed to be OK, but the speed was SLOW.... Repeated calls to support resulted in the same tedious sequence of rebooting and checking things. So I was elevated to a visit by a a higher level "network engineer". While waiting, I compared Ethernet to WiFi speeds. Before, they had both been slow. But now the Ethernet was very FAST, only WiFi was awful. Maybe a cable tech had fixed something (though they didn't say so). The network engineer was very suspicious that the problem was a software glitch in the combo Cable Modem and WiFi router that Comcast provides (Technicolor TC8305C). He tried the usual solution of returning/resetting the network name back to its default. No better.... So I pulled out my Apple Airport Extreme (802.11b/g/n model). We connected it to the Cable Modem by Ethernet and created a new network (different name). Wow! Suddenly the WiFi also ran over 50 Mbps, the same as Ethernet. End of the story: Comcast is installing a combo Cable modem/WiFi router with a serious glitch. The phone techs and Cable installers are unaware of the problem or the solution. Unfortunately, if you use Comcast's phone service you have to have this combo device. If you don't need the phone, rent the cheaper cable modem and use your own WiFi router.

Unfortunately there is no real alternative in my location. Comcast is almost a monopoly so it doesn't care much. I'm paying almost $60 per month but Comcast does not guarantee anything. They advertise the top connection speed (like up to ...) but never mention that your real speed is less, what's more important - no guarantee that at any particular moment you'll have connection at all. Their contract is deliberately missing the quality of service, so they collect their money even if you have no service.
Description of Work: Very unreliable internet service. I need constant connection because I telecommute quite often. The connection is dropped multiple times a day. Technical support has only one advice: reset the router (turn it off and on again).

Reception is always good even in storms. Customer service has been pretty good and they have been really responsive. Once I called when I was having problems with one channel and they reset it from their office. No one had to come out to house or anything.
