Our electric double oven panel was dead; no lights, completely non-responsive. Through a series of phone conversations with Ben's wife it was determined the probable cause and a price estimate to repair. That was all that was needed to decide whether or not it was worth fixing. Sorry I am unable to recall her name at this moment but she is soo nice and communication was excellent. I would definitely recommend and will do business with Ben's in the future. A very good experience overall.

Elizabeth took our call, had us describe the problem in detail, and made an appointment for the next afternoon. When Ben came out, on time, it didn't take him long to spot the problem--a plugged up pressure hose. He cleaned it out, did a test run and checked for any other potential problems. No parts needed, just a service call. We are well pleased with his work and will call him next time we are in need of appliance repair.
Description of Work: Our 3-year-old washing machine was going through all its cycles but was not taking in any water.

I basically called Ben and told him I had killed my range - it had a blinking display and clicking noise when I opened the oven door (everything operated great but it scared me everytime I opened the oven door) and that when I unplugged and plugged back in it still did the blinking display and clicking noise when I opened door. So decided to call for help - when I was sliding it back in its spot, there was popping sound along with bright flashes of light and then the range went dead. Looked on Angie's list - read the reviews and called Ben. Appointment made for same day that I called (today). Ben arrived and he was professional, pleasant and very personable. I would recommend him to friends (in fact I already did). Used oven tonight and all is great. Thank you Ben I'll call when I kill my next appliance.
Description of Work: Ben arrived and already had a pretty good idea of what happened to my range based on our phone conversation earlier this morning. He removed the back part of the range and found that the cord had shorted out and burnt some wires. Ben replaced the cord and the terminal block. Ben also installed a safety plug in the hole with the cord (can't remember what he called it - but it basically will prevent the cord from being pulled loose and shorting out again).

Overall it went fabulously. We had a dishwasher not draining and leaking. on the floor. He found that we had some plastic pieces blocking the water from draining and a seal wash broken so it was causing it to leak on the floor. He removed the pieces, showed them to me and then showed me the seal that was broken. Went out to his truck and grabbed a seal. It went smoothly.
Description of Work: He came out to our house, arrived on time as always, and did excellent work. Always friendly! We had a portable dishwasher not draining and he went right in and found the issue. Left no mess and tested it in front of me so I could see it working.

On Sunday we discovered our refrigerator/freezer wasn't working. I left a phone message and Elizabeth called promptly Monday morning. She asked about the symptoms, particularly whether there had been any "clicking" noises (there were). She said if we were lucky it would just be a relay...a quick fix. She scheduled Ben for Tuesday morning. He arrived, confirmed there was a dead relay and had the necessary replacement part on his truck. The new relay fixed the problem and Ben was out the door in about an hour. The appliance is working flawlessly. This was the third appliance we've had Ben troubleshoot. The two prior times (dead washing machine; dead dishwasher) resulted in Ben recommending we not invest in the repairs, but buy new appliances. He isn't out to fleece customers with high cost repairs to old appliances. This was the first appliance Ben actually repaired. We're extremely pleased and heartily recommend this company.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator/freezer stopped working. Ben diagnosed and replaced a dead relay/capacitor, which fixed the problem.

Ben's wife took my call for an appointment. And although the only 'symptoms' I could describe were 'it has started to get really loud lately and it clanks sometimes when agitating' isn't much to go on, she happily scheduled me for a in-house visit at my convenience. Ben showed up on time and immediately diagnosed the issue and recommended we replace the washing machine as the repairs would cost the same as a new one. He did not charge us for the in-house visit either. Wow--what service!

Very knowledgeable, pleasant, and knew his stuff... and I will call him any time I need someone for appliance repair or information.
Description of Work: I called for an appointment his wife set it up asked me the model number and a brief description the problem. This was a side by side refrigerator. Ben arrived with the part in hand, he was quick which helped since I had to go to work. He knew exactly what the problem was. Both sides were warm on top and cold on the bottom and he replaced a fan which circulates the 2 sides with cold air. Cleaned up after himself and was very pleasant to deal with. I wrote him a check and off he went only to return to let me know I had written the check for to much money. Now he could have gone off and I may have never known that I gave him 40 dollars to much. So another quality honesty... I will use him in the future and I have already given his name and info to several others I work with.

Oh my gosh, I really couldn't ask for better service. I had been limping along with 5 broken appliances. (oven, stove, dishwasher, washer, and dryer) I called Ben's. His wife answered. She walked me through the process of identifying the appliance model numbers and doing some basic diagnosis. The goal was to make sure that Ben had the parts he needed on his truck when he arrived. Before Ben arrived we had determined that parts could no longer be purchased for the oven. We also knew what parts we might need for the washer and dishwasher. I was given a 4 hour block of time on a Wednesday when Ben might arrive. He arrived right in the middle of that block of time. He jumped right in on the stove and found a tiny scrap of paper towel wedged behind the flame sensor. Problem #1 solved, no charge. Next we looked at the dryer. The dryer noise was determined to be an issue with the motor. He estimated the repairs at about $300 and recommended that I not try to repair a dryer that was between 10 and 15 years old. Next he moved on to the washer. He popped open the control panel and instantly spotted a defective component. A new control board would cost around $300 after installation. Again, he recommended that I think long and hard before investing another $300 in a really old washer. Finally he moved on the to the dishwasher. 10 minutes later the dishwasher was fixed. My wife and I decided not to repair the washer and dryer. Ben gave us some advice on what he has found to be reliable and where we might find a good deal. I really couldn't ask for a better experience. Ben and his wife were polite, professional, and very friendly.

Responded quickly to initial call, fixed the icemaker and stove top, but had to order a part for the oven. Placed the order in front of me, verified it had to ship from the factory, so gave me a realistic timeframe for a second visit to install the ordered part. Was conscientious about cost. Nice guy, professional, worked fast.

BEN'S APPLIANCE SERVICE Ben's Appliance Service's, wife answered the phone and she was very informative, quick to get a hold of him and set up for him to come out. I called in the afternoon and he came out the next morning, was on time, very knowledgeable in what he did, was quick, and easy to deal with. I had some questions and he explained things to me so I would know what is going on.

They were amazing. Came on time...found the problem. Showed me how much it would cost for the replacement part, then showed me how to order it on line for less, then showed me how to put the new part in. When I got the new part and put it in, it didn't work. I called him and he CAME OVER ON THE WAY TO HIS ANNIVERSARY DINNER WITH HIS WIFE AND RECONNECTED A HOSE SO I COULD PUT THE NEW PART IN - NO CHARGE. I would recommend him one thousand percent!

Tuesday before Thanksgiving, a hot, electrical fire odor permeated our kitchen. There was smoke coming from the top of our dishwasher door so we shut off the electrical circuit. We've been highly satisfied with Ben's Appliance Service so we called them again. Elizabeth said the first available appointment was the following Monday, which was OK, even though it meant washing all the Thanksgiving dishes by hand. I described the problem, where the smoke was coming from and provided the dishwasher make and model # to Elizabeth, which was enough for her to obtain prices for the parts which might need to be repaired/replaced. Ben arrived on time and went right to work. He removed the dishwasher door panel and showed me that the "mother board", wiring harness and ribbon wire to the control panel were melted and brittle with wires exposed. We were lucky a larger fire had not occurred. Ben said that while he could repair the dishwasher, based on its age, the cost of replacement parts and labor, we likely would be happier with a new dishwasher. He offered some opinions on brands that generally require fewer repairs. He charged his minimum, one hour service fee, which I thought was a good value (he said his rate may increase slightly next year). This is our second onsite experience with Ben's Appliance Service and we are completely satisfied. In addition, several months ago they provided a telephone consult on a clunking noise coming from our refrigerator. The ice maker isn't hooked up but they suspected that was the noise source. They suggested lifting the ice maker arm so it would be in the "off" position and that resolved the problem...no charge. We highly recommend Ben's Appliance Service.
Description of Work: Ben diagnosed and showed me the problems that caused smoke to come out of my dishwasher door. The dishwasher's mother board and atached wiring had melted. He advised that based on parts prices and age of the appliance it likely would be better to replace it rather than make repairs.

Freezer in our refrigerator was running too cold (-20 to -30 degrees). I contacted Ben's and he was out in a day to evaluate what was going on. Unfortunately, there were numerous solutions to the problem and of course my freezer had two of those issues. Ben kept coming out at no extra cost until my freezer was running correctly. He showed much professionalism and courtesy during each visit. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

Awesome, fantastic, amazing! Best experience I ever had with an appliance repair company! I called Ben's at 9:00 a.m. and he was at my door about an hour later (really lucked out that he was in my neighborhood today). He found the problem quickly, then informed me that I could purchase the part myself and save some money. Elizabeth was polite and professional on the phone and Ben was great to work with! I will ABSOLUTELY call Ben's again for any large appliance repair and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for fast, dependable, and reasonably priced service. They're the best!!

Elizabeth provided excellent service and information over the phone when I called re: a broken front loader washing machine. The price was right for a service call. When I first contacted Ben's appliance, the person answering the phone was very thorough in questioning my problems in order to ascertain which part to order, if indeed any parts would need replacement. Ben showed up at appointment time, was fast and competent. He replaced the control board on my GE oven and reset my Dacor oven temperature. Service call fee was $75.00, Oven Control part $125.00, labor time charged $45.00. In all, I am very happy with the service. I wished he was able to fix my GE Profile Refrig - my freezer keeps wanting to defrost itself. Ben did explained he no longer worked on GE Fridges since he had a past problem with GE and advised me to contact GE directly. However, he did give me an idea/diagnosis as to the problem with my fridge - the mother board. I guess I can understand his reasoning but I still have my fridge problem. Again, I am happy with his service, the fridge issue did not detract from an excellent experience and would certainly refer his services to anyone/everyone. One other thing, he only comes across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge/to the peninsula once a week - Weds, which may pose a problem for people who need work done immediately.

We used Ben's Appliance when our fridge died. They were very helpful and nice to deal with. As noted, we repositioned the ice maker arm to the "up" position and the clicking stopped. Ben's did not charge for this telephone diagnosis and fix! We'd definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Elizabeth at Ben's Appliance diagnosed a loud clicking noise that our refrigerator/freezer began making shortly after the warranty expired. Even though the automatic ice maker isn't connected she asked if the "arm" was down in the "make ice" mode. She advised that if so, the machine's electronics would try to produce ice even though there wasn't any water plumbed to it.

Ben showed up on time and was very professional. We had a wine cooler which he wasn't sure he could service before he came out to our house, but he showed up anyway, gave it a good examination and told us that it had a problem with the refrigeration which would require a system analysis by a refrigeration company. He was totally honest and open about how much that could cost. The unit showed rust in the several places, and one fan was not working. He said freon alone would be expensive and considering that the repairs would probably run equal to or more than the original cost of the unit which was 4+ years old, he agreed with me that it wasn't worth fixing. He did not charge me for the visit and when he was leaving, I asked him how I would go about getting rid of the unit, and he said he could recycle it for me. I was ready to pay for that cost but he said "No, he would just take it and recycle it for me." He trucked it out and took it away. What a guy!! I would definitely recommend Ben and Elizabeth's company to anyone who appreciates honesty, integrity, and professionalism. It was obviously a pleasure to work with Ben (not only because of the free service) because he is such a friendly and personable guy and one that goes out of the way to help. Kudos to both Ben and Elizabeth!
Description of Work: Our Franklin Chef dual-temp wine cooler had stopped cooling altogether. Ben looked our wine cooler over, told us what he saw as being wrong, and we agreed it would be too expensive to repair. He therefore did not perform any maintenance or repair as such.

My Maytag washer was making a howling noise and smelled hot. I called Ben's Appliance Monday morning and he was able to come the same day. He was a little later than expected but called ahead to say he was delayed. Ben was pleasant and professional. He delivered the bad news about the cost of repairs sympathetically. He left the laundry room clean and tidy. His charges were about what I expected for the service call and troubleshooting. We'd use him again.
Description of Work: Ben evaluated the problem with my Maytag washer and determined the rear drum bearings were shot. He obtained a price for the parts (>$550) and said he would recommend getting a new machine rather than fixing the old one. He provided suggestions about brands requiring fewer repairs and possible retail sources.
