Recently had the roof redone in which the roofers removed the existing flashing, so I had to get a mason out to install new flashing and do any other chimney work needed. Got bids from several companies and chose this one. Not the cheapest, but overall felt the best about them and what they proposed to do. Mason Brian and helper Kevin showed up on time and promptly got to it. Brian explained what they were going to do and showed me details along the way when I asked. They had to come back for one touch-up due to running out of caulk at the last corner sealing, but that was done in a timely manner. Professional, personable and would recommend.

I have used The Chimney Specialists for several years...even before I was an Angie's List member. They have cleaned my dryer vents and cleaned my chimney during those visits. I have an extra long and ackward dryer vent which needs cleaning every year or so. The Chimney Specialists always are able to schedule me within a reasonable period of time (maybe a week)...they show up as scheduled, on time. They are professional, organized, quick and are always willing to check out my wood stove/chimney while they are here to see if it's in need of cleaning. Their fee is reasonable...and they never try to sell me something I don't need. Thank goodness! You won't be disappointed if you hire The Chimney Specialists.

I can't say enough good things about this company! Jud Irish came out to our home to give us an idea of what had to be done and we received a detailed written estimate the following day. After agreeing to the proposal, we set a day for the repair to begin. Unfortunately, the brick that was used in our old chimneys was no longer manufactured for residential use so it had to be a special order for the center chimney brick. This caused a delay in the start date but Jud kept us informed as to progress during the wait time. The repair and installation took two days to complete and we are very happy with the result. They cleaned up the yard and area around the house as well. I would highly recommend Chimney Specialists!

I called Chimney Specialists based on Angie's List reviews. I am very happy with Chimney Specialists. It was easy to make an appointment, and the crew (Toby and Wes) showed up on time. Tobey and Wes are very efficient, personable, professional and they know what they are doing. Considering that I got chimney caps that are lifetime caps unlike the most common kind that will rust in a few years, the cost of all the services is very fair. I will definitely call them again.

They were just wonderful. Professional, friendly, kind. They gave me many options on fixing my existing chimneys and fireplace that were falling apart, old and crumbling. They gave good option about the fireplace and saved me money by advising against the more expensive purchase of a gas insert - because my fireplace is unique and the face of it would have to be altered in order to make the insert fit in - so they recommended instead the gas-log-sets, which I selected and I love it. It is on right now, warm and beautiful and I'm TOTALLY pleased with the entire job. Kirb was the mason guy who did all the outside work, and Jud and Erik worked on the gas line and the log-set. They were all just extremely wonderful. I highly recommend this company. The office person, Jackie is also very nice. I had gotten several bids/estimates for the work, and The Chimney Specialists were right in the ball-park, plus they give Senior Discount, or Angie's List Discount. A pleasure to deal with. Competent, gracious, honest. They did what they said they would, when they promised and sold me what I needed - not everything that they could have. The price was reasonable. The people were experienced and careful. I'd happily recommend them.

I was so impressed with their work I asked them if they would take a look and a fireplace located in our other home, they told me that since the fireplace brand that I had was not one thet is being made any more, they suggested that I call another fireplace service (Even gave me there name and contact phone number). FAST, GREAT WORK................REAL VALUE SERVICE PROVIDER!

Prompt response to inspect and provide estimate, ordered matching matching replacement material, and two days later completed the job. Very professional technician. Maintained absolute cleanliness, Every thing in the are of their work looked better when they left, than when thy came. And they did it all in a couple of days, by properly monitoring the weather and getting on with the job in a minute. I highly recommend them, and would not hesitate to call them for any chimney work.

It went great. They actually gave us a weekend appointment which seems unusual these days. The two guys came a few minutes early and inspected the fireplace from inside and from the rooftop. They left NOT A SPECK of debris or soot anywhere as promised. They cleaned the chimney using several pieces of equipment and a vacuum of some kind. They explained everything they were going to do and how it would be done. We'd removed an insert a year before and with that went the flue. They recommended a replacement solution...the cost...and had an example of the product which they brought in and showed us how it worked and how it would be installed. Since it was right before Christmas we decided to wait to have the flue installed but they said it would cost the same when they return to do it no travel costs. We did ask a lot of questions and they patiently answered them all. They explained why our fireplace has 'draw' issues and now we build better fires! They also did some minor repairs...no extra charge. Look no further...these are your guys!

The crew was on time, professional and friendly. The work was done quickly and the clean up was fantastic. They even removed and hauled away the old TV antena that was still attached to the chimney.

Al was good and went as expected. Chimney is good to use again. My disappointment was that much of the old grout was washed off the roof onto my deck and windows. Clean-up was.. minimal.

They were fast clean and courteous. I'd use them again.

SHORT STORY: Use this company for anything you need done on your chimney/fireplace. LONG STORY: We originally called Chimney Specialists to investigate what we believed was a water leak in the chimney of our wood-burning fireplace. The high rating on Angie's List was the reason we called them, so I was hoping that our experience would be similar to the other reviewers. Their technicians showed up on time and were very professional. They identified a major problem with how the chimney cap had been installed. They gave us a quote to fix it and bagged it off so that it would not leak. While we were talking to the technician, we got on the subject of gas inserts and he told us they do those also, but that Jud Irish did all the estimates on those installations. We asked for an estimate, and Jud was at our house in a matter of hours. We decided to have the insert installed, which would also take care of the problem with the chimney cap. The only thing that needed to be verified was whether or not our gas line would be compatible with the insert. Jud asked if he could come back the following week with his partner Eric to check that out. Over the weekend, there was a bad wind and rain storm, and we started seeing water again in the house. Assuming the temporary bag had gotten ripped, I called Chimney Specialists and Jud and Eric came right out with a heavy duty chimney bag to replace the one that we believed had ripped. When they got up there to put in on, however, the bag was not ripped. Jud and Eric spent the next 2 hours helping me find where the real leak was, which turned out to be the roof flashing at the base of the chimney. They did not add any additional charge for all the extra time and work, even though the real problem had nothing to do with the chimney and I even told them they should. To me, this is the very definition of excellent customer service. We scheduled the insert installation and Jud and Eric were at the house right on time and did an excellent job installing the insert. We opted for a custom faceplate to fit within our existing marble surround. Jud and Eric brought that out and installed it a couple weeks later. The installation was completed on 12/5/14. It looks completely built-in and like the entire installation was planned that way from the start. We love the new Regency insert. It is a thermostatically controlled unit that we can set to a certain temperature and the fire comes on and off to keep the area at whatever temperature we set. We have a very large house that is a challenge to economically heat. The insert, however, is in the family room/kitchen area where we spend most of our time. With the insert, we can keep this area at a much more comfortable temperature without having to heat the rest of the house to the same temperature. I can't say enough about how professional this company is. There was not a single aspect of the whole experience that I was unhappy with. They were courteous, on-time, professional, and the quality of all the work was exemplary. I will use them for any future chimney/fireplace needs.

These guys were great. On time with all their tools and vacuums - Cleaned nasty wood stove and it's chimney - tenants burned plastics logs! Cleaned two chimneys serving two fireplaces - Not too dirty but one needed a new external cap. They did it all, quick and efficient. They also pointed out that we need to get a new boot for the base of one of the metal chimneys. (They don't do that type of repair, but recommended some people to call.) Highly Recommended!

There were two fellows that came out, and they had done a visual inspection of the chimney stack prior to even ringing the doorbell. They let me know that there were caps missing on two of the open flues. When I let him know that one was no longer in use (old oil furnace), he offered to cap it with sheet metal for free; this was without me even agreeing to pay for the other cap to be added. We ended up going ahead with adding the cap of course; they were speedy, took their shoes off without asking, and didn't leave a speck of soot around the fireplace. Highly recommend them!

This company is very professional. They honored an 8 month old bid, did their work efficiently, and left all places they worked in a cleaner condition than they were before the job started. All workers were friendly and polite. They also did not try to oversell the repairs to be done; other firms that bid seemed to pad their bids with unnecessary work. We would definitely use this company again if needed.

We were completely satisfied with the service provided by the two very professional gentlemen who made every attempt to complete the job in a timely manner. They were very clean about the messy job at hand and were even agreeable about taking away the old glass fireplace cover and the old fire grate. (we are planning to get a gas insert, so no longer needed either item). We would highly recommend The Chimney Specialists!! Thank you for a job well done!

The service providers were prompt, professional and resourceful. They phoned prior to arrival and did a good job of estimating the time it would take to complete their work. We won't know exactly how the installation of the new flue and cap will affect the efficiency of the furnace, until fall. But, we're hopeful!

To start with, they came out and gave me a bid on what I asked for and didn't add 10 more things to it. Person who came to bid was very professional. He was stuck in traffic and would be 20-30 min late and called me to let me know. He listened to my questions, put together the bid and presented it to me in a clear way. I called the next day to make an appointment and was able to schedule it for just a few days out. The workers that came were also professional and considerate. They cleaned up when they were done. They did a great job. I would use them again and highly recommend them.

I was very pleased with the work that The Chimney Specialists did for our fireplace and chimney. My wife and I bought a 40's build home last year and were eager to use the fireplace, but nervous about the condition of the overall structure and decided to wait until spring to have an inspection and estimates to determine what work, if any, needed to be performed so we could safely, and efficiently use our fireplace this coming fall and winter. We requested estimates from several local chimney repair companies, and to our dismay, we found that most estimates were in the $3 ? $5K range, which was way out of our budget for this year, as our chimney/fireplace is more of a aesthetic device rather than a primary heating resource. The estimates we received indicated that our entire chimney needed thorough updates (new liners, updated terra-cota tiles, full tuck-point, caps, etc.). I had all but decided to forget about repairing the chimney this year, but decided to get a third estimate with The Chimney Specialists. Their inspector/estimator, Jud Irish, did an inspection and we indicated to him what the other estimates had pointed out in terms of the "required" repairs. Jud was extremely transparent with us, and explained in plain terms (as neither my wife or I are masons) what key repairs were needed, and since we are planning on updating our central heating to a heat pump system next year, did not need to install a very costly, updated liner from our furnace. Jud also indicated that the entire chimney didn't require a full tuck-point, also saving us money. In short, Jud gave us an affordable estimate that not only updated and repaired our chimney, but did so in a reasonable way for our future heating plans and expected use of the fireplace. It became clear that the other estimates I received were in some ways exploiting my lack of understanding of chimney/masonry conditions, and therefore the other vendors were simply telling me that I had to update "everything" in order to feel safe about using our chimney. I really appreciated that The Chimney Specialists didn't do this, and asked more questions to hone the estimate to what we needed. We moved forward with the work, and a mason and assistance arrived on a Monday morning to begin the work. They had completed all the agreed to work by about 3:30PM. Both the Mason and his assistant were extremely nice, professional, and were eager to explain everything to me as they did the repair work. I really appreciated how well they cleaned up (tuck point work is pretty messy) around the house, and were careful not to make a mess inside when cleaning out the chimney. The entire project went very well, and as a result, we have a very nice looking, safe, and more efficient chimney. We were very pleased with the entire process. If you are looking for a honest, professional, and skilled chimney repair company, then you should consider The Chimney Specialists. They were great to work with.

I hear birds in there every spring, so they put a chimney cap and repaired the chimney. They first came to give me an estimate, and they put the cap that day, and then they came to do the repair, chimney pointing and the flashing.
