Description of Work: I had a new HE gas furnace installed. D**** is great to work with. They were a bit more expensive than other company's, but we went with a brand we trust. Their install work did not cut corners, were clean, and respectful.

Description of Work: My elderly mother lives in a mobile home and about 6 yrs ago Dick's replaced her heat pump. We signed up for 5 yr annual inspection/ maintenance program with them. We were told this year was the fifth year and after this the maintenance inspection would be free. We have had problems with this Coleman 2 ton system before. When the heat goes off the inside unit makes a very loud bang! noise and then really cold air pours through the ducts. This always seemed strange to me. When the maintenance checker came this year for the fifth year of regular maintenance he said the heat-pump had multiple problems and would need to be replaced or would simply stop working. I was told there would be no air conditioning ability soon. This was the fifth year of regular maintenance. I did not feel good about the process and watching the worker questioned to myself whether he was new and untrained? Heat pump quote was $6000 and Dick's was the company that put it in 6 yrs earlier. Another more advanced person could come out and verify what we were told, but by that time my instincts told me to stop working with a company that I felt had not been properly caring for my elderly mother's heating and air conditioning system: something that is even more critical during old age. With inspections by other companies we learned that the outside 2 ton unit was not working efficiently with a mismatched 2 1/2 ton inside heat unit, that the bang!ing noise was not normal, nor the freezing up of the outside unit, nor the cold air flooding in when the heat stopped. My mother's electrical bills were often extremely high. I am grateful that we researched and chose another company to replace these dysfunctional, mismatched units. The new units are quiet and highly efficient, like they are suppose to be.

 + -1 moreDavid Jansen is the name of the owner. He came out on a service call. The inspections were rushed and based on my research it was inaccurate. He claimed that I had valves that were unsuitable for my coolant. I had looked up the valves myself online and found out that they could be used for either kind of cooling. He either didn?t explain it well enough to me or he was incorrect. In the meantime I kept using my furnace and the problem kind of went away and I didn?t have to fix anything. I couldn?t tell whether the work was of good quality. He had come out when he said he would but didn?t spend enough time to adequately review the job. I think he was too busy that day to actually deal with me and I had asked for somebody to come out right away. I would be less likely to hire Dick's Heating & Air Conditioning in future.

They even fixed something that was not right and did not charge extra for it. On top of that they gave us a lifetime maintence agreement with the purchase. These guys really want to be your heating company for life!!

 + -1 more11/26/06: SYSTEM WAS NOT HEATING. CALLED DICK'S & SCHEDULED APPT. 11/28/06: TECH SAID THE ELECTRICIAN (AS PART OF THE INITIAL INSTALL) HAD WIRED IT INCORRECTLY. ALSO, ONLY 2 OF THE 3 HEAT COILS WERE INSTALLED, PLENUM WASN'T FINISHED/INSTALLED CORRECTLY. 12/1/06: DICK'S DETERMINED REFRIGERANT HAD LEAKED OUT; THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR. THE NEXT WEEK, DICK'S WORKED ON THE HEAT PUMP. 12/27/06: I CALLED DICK'S FOR UPDATE. NEEDED TO CHECK WITH TECH, NO CALL BACK. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, DICK'S CAME OUT & SAID THERE WAS AIR IN THE REFRIGERANT LINES; THAT HAD CAUSED THE COMPRESSOR TO STOP, DRAINED THE LINES & REFILLED. HE SAID THE FURNACE ONLY HAD 2 OF THE 3 HEAT COILS INSTALLED & WOULD COME BACK TO INSTALL 3RD COIL. 1/3/07: DICK'S SAID THEY WEREN'T COMING BACK. HIRED 2ND COMPANY TO REVIEW SYSTEM WITH THE TRANE FACTORY REP. I HAVE LEFT 3 MESSAGES WITH DICK'S TO DISCUSS FINDING AND NO CALL BACKS.

 + -1 moreNext morning, office person calls, saying "I understand you need service. Would you like to schedule an appointment?" I was in the process of speaking to another company, told him so, and said I'd like to speak to the supervisor. She tells me she is the supervisor (I doubt it). I declined to have them work for me. Their service is terrible. Why advertise 24 hour service when you don't intend to provide it? Then on top of it, the person I'm talking to does not try to make amends for the poor service rendered the night before. I will not use this company if I have any other options ever.
Description of Work: I came home from work at 10:30 pm to discover that my furnace was out. Dick's advertises 24 hour service, so I called them. I was told I would receive a call from a technician in 20 minutes. I Never got the call. I called their answering service twice more over the next 3 hours - no one called back. Their answering service got testy with me and told me they would not page anyone again for me.

 + -1 moreTHERE HAVE A BEEN A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN THEY JUST HAVEN'T GOTTEN IT QUITE RIGHT. THEY REPLACED THE CIRCUIT BOARD AND IT DIDN'T WORK AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK RIGHT. I HAD TO TAKE TIME OFF OF WORK TO TRY AND GET IT FIXED.
