Sturm Heating & Air Conditioning

At annual service they diagnosed the problem with the humidifier. Scheduled a return and ordered the parts. Returned on time an installed the line. Did not charge a base service call the 2nd time only parts and labor. Serviceman knew his job and was courteous and professional. Only complaint was that the fairly simple parts seemed overpriced.

They came in with a crew and replaced the entire furnace and added a head pump in a day. They were very professional. They were also able to get me a rebate from Inland Power that other companies discouraged me from trying for. We love our new Train system.

They came the day after I called them (igniter failed late in the afternoon and we had alternative heating) right when they said they would. They have done work on my furnace before so everything went as expected. IN and out in under an hour.

The service was fine. I would use them again.

Specifically asked that they address a condensation issue where water was draining out the front of the furnace. Clean out seemed to be knowledgeable and done although I never fully opened the furnace to verify. Later came to find condensation still leaking down front of unit and water spraying from pump outlet due to split tubing whenever it ran. Tubing had also been stretched excessively tight. A call to Sturm was non-apologetic.

From the estimate to the actual firing up and check out of the systems, Sturm personnel did an excellent job. Andy started the ball rolling when he knocked on my door to introduce himself as working for Sturm and he gave me an estimate that mirrored another companys estimate but slightly lower in price and I liked Andy's personality. He sold me on his company. When John, Morgan and Tim showed up to remove my old furnace and air conditioner they were very friendly and professional. They placed drop cloths on my floors. John didn't mind my asking questions about my new equipment. He worked on removing the old furnace and installing the new one while Morgan removed/replaced the old air conditioner. Tim, the electrician removed electrical service and installed required GFI, per code. The new air conditioner didn't work, so they had a repairman come out and look at it. It had rotor lock which they said was very rare for a brand new ac unit and ordered a new one. A week later, they were back to install a replacement air conditioner and this time the district Lennox reps-Dan and James were on-site to make sure all went well. I appreciated their presence as showing Lennox cared for my new equipment and wanted to make sure I was taken care of. All went well and both the furnace and air conditioner were fired up, tested and ok'd for normal use. Since then I have had a chance to play with the controls and am impressed at the quietness of the equipment. It should last me for many years to come. I'm glad the ac went out this spring and not during a hot summer. I missed out on the federal rebates offered a year or so ago, but am happy as I went from an 80% efficient furnace to a state of the art 98% and a 14 SEER AC unit to a 17 SEER unit. All in all, a good experience.

Went well. After 2 months unit had problem, but they came right out and fixed it on warrenty. Can't ask for more!

I thought their rate was extremely high to just replace a fuse, which costs $5 at the hardware supply store. After their last service, I will not be using them again. Their work is good and don't have any complaints about their quality of work, but their rates are too high.

They are always very professional. I have used them for many years. They are always very responsive and show up on time and when promised. They are actually coming tomorrow to give me an estimate about placing a new heating system for my garage.

.I had quite a few bids and the price they gave was very competitive. The people that did the bid and the work did a wonderful job. They gave us options about what we could do and didn't try to sell us more than we needed. They were very honest. They were very courteous and clean so that they even cleaned things that were there before they did the job.

I got quotes from three heating installation companies. I was most impressed with Andy from Sturm. He was very knowledgeable and explained all the options. His quote was only $50 different (less) than one of the competitors for comparable equipment, so I was confident that it was a fair price. The third quote wasn't for comparable equipment. The major work was done over two consecutive days. The preliminary work was done the first day and didn't involve shutting down the heating system. The second day the new furnace was installed in about six hours, About a week later Andy arranged for a third party to come and drain the remaining oil out of the oil tank. A few days later the oil tank itself was removed and disposed of. Although the tank was big, the men took it out in one piece without damaging any door jams, walls or floors. There was a little mix up in the time the men would arrive to take out the tank, a delay of about four hours. Otherwise, the people arrived as scheduled, and cleaned up everything before they left. Finally, the city inspector from the Spokane Building Department checked the installation which he approved. The inspector said, "They did a good job."

Technician arrived exactly on time (rare with service companies these days). Serviced our heat pump and made a minor repair, no extra charge, during his inspection. During his visit, he conveyed a great deal of information on the best method of operating our heat pump. Even talked me out of purchasing a "set back" thermostat for our older heat pump, which would have cost me about $100. I wouldn't hesitate to

We were so happy with their services. We even called then after the work was complete to thank them and let them know. We had several people come out and give us bids. Theirs was not the lowest, but it was the most fair. We feel that they really listened to us, worked with, and acknowledged us. We will continue to use their services for anything heating and air conditioning related.

They are a large company. They did really quality work and we were very satisfied with them. They were totally on time and have really courteous personnel. They made sure they didn't track any dirt in the house. We are new in the area so we are not familiar with the prices in the area. We would use them again.

.I think the service was great and they came out and gave me a solid estimate in advance and told me exactly what equipment they were going to put in. When they were here it only took them a morning and they didn't have to come back and do anything or finish anything up. It was all in and it worked fantastic as far as I can tell everything is working fine. I have had no need to call them back on the furnace. I do have an air conditioning issue not related to that job but I will probably use them for a new air conditioning unit put in next year.

The guy they sent out looked over the water heater and told me the valve was broken and I needed to relace that expensive part or re[place the whole heater. I also let him know I needed it done fast because I needed it in good working order before my husband deployed the next week to Iraq. He told me he could replace it in the next day or so. He made it sound like the best option was to replace it because it is a 12 year old unit and because it is so old it may need to be completly replaced soon due to other parts may break soon causing me to have to spend more money then just getting a new one.I agree with that theory because I know that labor and parts cost can make it more practical to just buy a new one. He then gave me a writen estimate for over 2000.00 on the replacement. He then told me he would have his office call me with and estimate for replacing the part. I did not get that estimate after what happened next. Being the estimate seemed like alot of money to spend I call 2 other service providers that I found on Angies list with A ratings to also give me replacment estimates. One came out and gave me the same estimate for replacment but did not open up the water heater to see what was wrong. The other one I called (Holliday heating and cooling) came and looked at the heater and opened it up. We talked about what was wrong with it and he asked me for a screw drive since he did not bring his tools in with him ( he was just there to give and estimate on replacement or repair. This was not a repair call). He showed me the valve that was causing the problem then hit it twice with the screw driver. That did not work so he asked me for something heavier and I gave him a pair of pliers. He hit the valve again and that worked! He had to restart the water heater (gas) and test it again but the problem was solved!! He told me since it was an older heater the valves can get stuck and you just need to tap them to loosen it. He then said that I may need to replace the heater someday and he would love to sell me one but not until I really needed it. He then showed me haow to fix the problem again myself and told me to call him if that did not work. I tried to pay him but he would take nothing from me. You can guess who I will be calling when this thing really breaks down or I have any heating or cooling needs.

I had a bad experience with them. I was unhappy. I told them right away when it got hot that the air conditioner wasn't sufficient because I couldn't set it unless I set it way cold. I usually like to set my air conditioner between 71-73 and if I would do that it got so hot that it would never catch up. I would always be setting at 76 or 77. When I called them to look at it, they said there was some piece they didn’t have. They charged me $95 and never came back. They never called back to set up another date. When they did the installation, it wasn’t a sufficient size to make it so that it would cool. If it is a hot day I hated to set it to 70 but in this house if I didn’t, it wouldn’t get cool. It turned out that a friend of mine was able to fix it and it didn’t need the part. It turned out that the heat pump just needed to get the dust out of it and then it worked again. We fixed it ourselves and we shouldn’t have had to.

This was a horrible experience with a company I would never use again. The entire unit was removed, and in doing so the company completely bent up the unit to get the unit out. Rather than remove a few ceramic tiles to get clearance, the company decided that bending the metal framing of the heating unit would be a better option. The unit was bent more upon replacement, so all of the seams didn't match up with the ductwork. So, instead of doing the work right and fixing the bent metal, they taped over the seams with heat tape, in some places leaving a gap of more than 2 inches between the unit and the ductwork that was simply covered up with the tape. All of the doors were bent, so the unit wouldn't even work, so we had to bend them out to get it working. After several back-and-forth conversations with an unprofessional representative who only wanted to deflect blame and claimed nothing was wrong because the heater worked, I had to push for a better solution. Just because the unit worked didn't mean the service was conducted properly. I told them if I took my car to an auto repair shop for engine work and the body was all dented in from the work they did, I wouldn't be happy just because the engine ran if my car was all dented. They eventually - after numerous phone calls - made new ductwork and pounded out most of the dents that they caused so the ductwork and unit would match up. But they still failed to make sure air didn't leak, and hot air was leaking out of seams. After two weeks of back-and-forth, I told them I didn't want them in my house anymore and fixed the remaining problems myself. I will never use this company again and will make sure I tell others who might be looking for heating or air conditioning service to avoid this company.

There price was in the middle and we almost went with them. If we hadn't gotten a lower quote we probably would have went with them. He did a good job with the estimate.

Very well. There was a problem with one of the parts shortly after installation. They came out the next day and fixed it immediately at no cost.
