Spokane began as a trading post in the early 1800s and was officially settled in 1871. The city’s name, originally known as Spokane Falls, means “children of the sun.” True to its meaning, Spokane experiences much more sunshine than its western neighbor, Seattle. Situated in a valley between several mountain ranges, Spokane is protected from the wetter weather patterns that dominate the rest of Washington.
More than 600,000 people live in the metropolitan areas of Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. Nearby communities include those of Spokane Valley as well as Hayden and Post Falls, both in Idaho. Because of its proximity to many bodies of water, Spokane is a haven for swimmers and boaters. Its friendly, small-town atmosphere helped Spokane earn the title of All-American City by the National Civic League more than once.
The residents of Spokane get to enjoy all four seasons, and they look to Angi to equip their homes with the necessary products to stay comfortable no matter what the weather outside is like. Join Angi Spokane.
