Darius contacted me within just a couple of days of purchasing this deal. I was able to schedule the initial consultation for the following week. He met me promptly at the scheduled appointment time, did a survey of what was to be accomplished (inspection and repair), and scheduled the work to be performed. My only critique is that I didn't hear from him after that. The work was done a short time later but I was unaware (the home is unoccupied and I did not need to be present for his worker to complete the job) until I called to follow up. He returned my call promptly and provided documentation of the completed job upon request. Overall it was a good job for a fair price, and I appreciate that it was done quickly and efficiently.
Description of Work: I purchased the "big deal" roof maintenance package for a roof inspection and minor repairs. Alpine conducted the inspection and took care of a minor problem I pointed out to them.

Made an appointment with Darius for the first part of April. Darius showed up on time and did an inspection of my roof. He made a diagram showing where the nail holes and flashing would be caulked. I asked him to look at a particular section of the roof where I had problems with leaking in the past. He did that and said it looked OK to him. He also informed me that my roof would probably last five or six more years. That was a big relief since it is an older roof and I thought that it would have to be replaced sooner. He was very patient and answered all my questions. My only problem was that Darian told me the person doing the actual work would probably be there the afternoon he did the inspection. No one showed up and I didn't get a phone call. I waited for a while the next day to see if I would get a call, I didn't. I called them and the person doing the work could come that afternoon. I was going to be gone during that time so I told them it would be fine for him to come while I was gone. He showed up just before I left and I talked to him for a couple minutes before I left. There is no reason for me not to believe that the job was not done right. All in all it was a good experience and I would call them again for roofing and other job that I needed.
Description of Work: Checked my roof for needed repairs and completed the repairs per the $99 special.

My husband called 5 roofing companies to get bids. Alpine was the only one who not only returned the call, but came out, gave us a written bid, followed up and did EVERYTHING they said they would do. The roof looks great! Darius called us every day (or so) to make sure everything was going well. The guys who did the job were polite, kept the area as clean as possible and worked hard. We really have absolutely no complaints. I would (and have) recommended Alpine Construction to my neighbors. (Of the other 4 companies my husband called, only 2 called back and said they would come out to give us a bid. They never, ever came.) Alpine was great and really did a great job on the roof.

Excellent!!! Alpine responded quickly to our request for an estimate. They were very honest in referring us to another companyl for one of our projects. Within a short timeframe the work on the deck was completed. We were very happy with the finished product. They went "above and beyond" in removing and replacing the heavy deck furniture - not part of the contract. We plan on calling them with any future improvement projects.

I found Alpine to be very responsive to a cry for help. Squirrels had knawed holes in my roof in several places and a cat. presumably chasing a squirrel, went into a hole and appeared to be unable to get out. Cat finally freed itself and meanwhile Alpine after seeing their special offer on Angie's list) was called to inspect and repair roof. Darius came out promptly and even though this is a busy time of year for them, sent his roofers to have a look and within the week the roof was repaired. I appreciated their prompt response and felt that the price quoted was fair. I wouldn't hesitate to call them for further roof work.

They came out and did a roof inspection, I was happy to find out that my roof is in good shape. There were a few minor things that need repaired. I was impressed with the fact the worker took pictures of the minor repairs needing to be addressed. This build trust cause I can't get on the roof to inspect with him. I am awaiting the estimate of those repairs but so far they have been a good company to deal with, plan to continue using in the future.

Were slow getting started due to subcontractor problems, after that things went pretty smoothly till the main lead man left and went into business for himself. Second man was very good, but hampered by workmen of poorer quality, had to go back and redo several things. The tile work in the bathroom was the biggest complaint I had, the man was not qualified no matter what he claimed. Overall I was satisfied with the addition and Alpine Construction. Steve Skinner is a joy to work with and I would use Alpine again with provisions.

The project started off poorly when the crew did not show up on the date they promised to start work. It was raining that day so it wouldnt have surprised me if they wanted to reschedule, but I did not receive a phone call letting me know either way. The project to replace about 150 square feet of siding got started about a week later. The crew arrived, introduced themselves and started the job. Later in the day they left without any communication to me regarding the job being complete or not. I also did not receive any communication back from the office as to the status of the job. Wanting to get it painted prior to the cold weather, I cleaned up a few loose ends that should have been done by the contractor, and painted the new siding. A week or so later, I received a call from the contractor that a worker was at my house "finishing up the caulking". I was concerned over the additional caulk because I had already painted, but decided to go ahead and let them finish and I would touch up the paint again later. After returning home and checking the new caulking, I was stunned at the sloppy and unprofessional job that had been done. There were drips and gobs of caulk stuck in various places that would have stuck out like a sore thumb if I had painted it. I contacted the contractor to ask them to clean it up and they sent a worker out to do so. I again inspected it and found little to no improvement. I contacted the contractor again and was told that they were sending out the gentleman that sold the job to me in the first place to finish up the work. He informed me that they normally dont caulk underneath each row of siding, and proceeded to take a razor knife sloppy caulk job and cut away the excess drips and gobs of caulk. He made some improvents but as you would guess trying to clean up dried caulk is not going to end pretty which this didnt. Evidently since they normally don't caulk underneath each row of siding, he opted to not re-caulk the areas he had cut away - so now I have siding that is partially caulked underneath each row. I have grown tired of dealing with this contractor, their lack of communication and unprofessional results and will finish the clean up myself. Lesson learned, stupid me for not more thoroughly checking references and talking to multiple contractors before making a decision to use Alpine. I am

First contact was Tom, the estimator. He listened to what we wanted and had several suggestions to clarify the work. Alpine's price was the lowest. The start date shifted a little because of weather and because they apparently like to finish one job before they start another. Five guys showed up (I had expected only three) and removed the old roof in just three days. They were very neat and policed the yard as they finished each day. They worked basically 9 to 5, so our home schedule was not severely upset. The actual roofing was done with three workers who worked through the weekend. The whole job took a week, and it looks great. They continued to keep the yard clean, even after a pretty good wind. The workers were very good. They even took time out to help a neighbor who was building a playhouse for his daughters. They helped him put up the roof, which was more that a one-man job. They often asked my desires when they encountered unexpected situations. There was one small glitch - delivery of the skylight hardware was delayed because the vendor screwed up, and Alpine made the vendor call and apologize to me directly - I couldn't have asked for more. About the only negative I can think of is that the roofers often had to wait for a trailer to haul off the old roof or the scraps/junk from the job. Other than that, the job went very smoothly and we are very pleased with the result and the experience. I would certainly use these guys again.

First job was back in the early 90's they refinished some old oak floors that were in bad shape. The did an excellent job They remodeled our bathroom in the 90's - great job. Another floor refinish, two roofs, window repair, interior painting and small construction prior to a sale. Deck sanding and repair. They most recently did work early in 2012 - when they repaired some dinged walls, did interior painting, refinished a wood floor and repaired a roof - all for a pending real estate sale. They were under the gun to get the work done very quickly and they did an excellent job! We once called them at night to secure my parents house after it had been broken into. No one was in town to do that and Alpine saved the day.
Description of Work: Alpine has done work for me and my extended family since the early 90's. They have redone wood floors, replaced roofs, remodeled bathrooms, repaired decks, painted, some masonry work - they have done it all and always exceeded our expectations.

My 15 year old home had sustained wind damage to the roof from a storm. I called several companies that I was referred to by friends and family. Alpine was chosen to do the work based on price and references. Darrius did a nice job explaining options for color and style that would work well with my home. The work was done in a timely fashion and to my satisfaction. I would refer others to them for roofing needs.

Roofing, sheetrock were good. Porch still needs working on.
Description of Work: Had damage to the house from record snowfall in 2008. Replaced roof tiles and replaced sunroom ceiling/roof. The porch cover collapsed and needed replacing. The new porch cover leaks and the pitch is not right. The new porch leaks where it joins the house. The company made several attempts to fix the leak to no avail. I tried to contact them a week before Thanksgiving in 2009 to let them know porch still leaked and no return call. I feel since we paid in full they won't come back to fix it correctly.

Synopsis: I wouldn't let these guys touch my house again even if they paid me. Work performed: Removed old roof and installed new roof. The good news first: I asked every contractor I interviewed if I needed a new roof. They all were vague except for Alpine who said I could still get by for years. The basic workmanship was fairly good. I'd give them a B and only that low because one of the valleys wasn't as straight as it should be. I believe the workers were well experienced. The bad news is with the management. It took 2 months to replace my roof and another month to complete the trim work. Work started Aug 3 and did not complete until Nov 3, 2009. First they ripped the old roof off. THEN they discovered they had to order special mold drip because I told them I wanted it to be brown (this was told to the salesman during the initial quote process). That took 2 weeks during which the house sat with nothing but tar paper on it. They then ran out of roofing material 2 times. Each time they had to order material, the house would sit for 2 or more weeks. My guess is every time they ran out of material, the workers would go another complete roof before they came back. It was beginning to appear that they weren't going to finish before the weather got too bad and I was actually forced to start discussing my options with a lawyer (the first snow came just a few weeks after they were finally done). Fortunately they got their act together before I had to resort to firing them and bringing in another contractor, but I am still out some legal fees as well. In multiple, unhappy, discussions with the owner he would invariably blame someone else. First it was the workers - he didn't know where they were because they should be here. In my discussion with the workers, they were working other jobs during the 6+ weeks of inactivity. Then he blamed the materials company for taking so long to get the material. Well, I ended up buying some spare shingles from them and I got them in a week. Then he blamed the heat. Yes, there were some hot weeks. But when the workers were actually on the job during such weather, they would work until noon, then come back after 6. At the end of the project I demanded what amounted to a 4% discount for failing to comply with the contract, specifically "the job would be completed in a timely manner". Of the 3 roofs replaced in the immediate vicinity, 2 were done in less than 2 weeks and one took about a month. Two months is completely outside of timely. The owner then blamed God. The problems were all an act of god and those weren't covered by the contract. At this point I was so flabbergasted I decided the best thing to do was pay him to get him out of my hair, then make sure others know about his poor management skills. It certainly did not occur to him that he did a poor job estimating materials and promptly getting a crew back out to my house as soon as the materials were available. Some other issues: They 1/2 removed the garage roof and then quit because they hit a problem for which they didn't have tools. They tarped the roof and of course it rained fairly hard that evening. Part of my garage was doused when it leaked thru a tarp with a hole in it. Fortunately not the part with dry wall. There was also incessant profanity between the workers. I'm no prude but there are kids all around my house the they sat up there cussing like sailors at each other. Good grief. As I said, I wouldn't let these guys touch my house after 3 months of b.s. If you are going to use them, I strongly suggest that you require they put a reasonable completion date into the contract. I certainly learned my lesson and I won't sign any open ended contract again.

Response from Alpine Construction
We find this past customer very interesting. He was adamant on installing a special order product against our suggestion. The only truth to this post is, yes we did run short of material on two different occasions. This individual has done everything in his power to post negative, untruthful comments everywhere. There are always two sides to every story. Please remember anyone can post anything whether it is true or not, so please check with the Better Business Bureau before you take comments like these as gospel. We have served thousands of customers in the Spokane area for more than 25 years and have maintained an A+ rating with the BBB. Incidentally, after this job was completed he asked us to perform more work for him on the same home! Only after we didn't credit him back money he then went on his slanderous rant. Very curious!
