drain cleaning, septic tank
+ 0 moreWe discovered that our lower toilet had overflowed and since it had been quite a while since the septic tank had been pumped we presumed that it was time. Well -- not quite the situation. We called and left a message (it was Sunday) and Gary returned the call late that day and said he was already booked for Monday but that if an early time on Monday worked he would come by. OK let's go for it. When Gary arrived he had to dig to expose the pipe connection and that's where he found the REAL problem. TREE ROOTS. Typically he does not deal with this situation and he suggested that another company be brought in to clear the roots. However, Gary did a bit of poking around in the pipe and cleared the roots and the toilet now was back in action. It was now time for Gary to move on to his previous commitments but we agreed to have him return and pump the tank. Two days later Gary returned to do the pumping however he had to dig to holes the tank covers. The digging was extra but quite reasonable especially in our "rocky" ground. So -- all in all a great experience and the next time we have a "sewer pumping" challenge, Gary is the guy. Oh by the way, Mr. tree has been removed.

+ -1 moreA true professional. I mistakenly thought I had a gravity system. It turned out that I have a pressure system and there was some repair work that needed to be done. After he helped me find and dig up the lid to the pump tank he gave me a name of a repair service and didn't charge me for the trip. I will for sure call him back if I need to have the septic tank pumped after the repair is complete.

+ -1 moreWhat a relief! We were having trouble locating our septic so we could inspect it and report the findings to the County Health Department. Finally gave in, called a few septic companies for estimates and information. When hearing what we were trying to do, Gary from Clean Septic Pumping provided very good information, was patient and explained what services a reliable septic service should provide. He was responsive and was able to schedule the service for the next day, and promply arrived at the scheduled time. Gary found and uncovered the septic and then determined that it did need pumping. Gary was extremely efficient, provided a wealth of information about taking care of septic tanks, cautions about some septic service providers and septic additives. Very sanitary, he also made sure that while spraying off the hoses and tools that he did so over the tank and not on the ground. While it is not something that anyone usually would look forward to, it was a pleasure to have Gary come out and service our septic tank. We will definitely hire him again!

Gary was able to come out the same day I called and was even able to come out a little earlier than scheduled so he was almost done with pumping out the tank when I got home. + -1 moreWow! AMAZING SERVICE. My septic was backing up, evidenced by my shower not draining and toilets gurgling and not flushing. I called Gary late in the evening and he made special arrangements to be out the very next day. Turns out my toilet paper (costco brand) was not breaking down despite good bacteria in the tank? It had had gotten to the point that it was backing up into the house. He cleaned it all up. Gave me lots of really great information and didn't try to sell me anything! Gary was incredibly personable, gentle and kind. I would use him again in an instant and would highly recommend him to others! I am very impressed! He was like a good neighbor.

+ -1 moreGary arrived on time, started right away and was done within 90 minutes. He pulled the lids off of all three compartments and emptied the tank from one, cleaned the filter from another and inspected the D box from a third. He noticed that the previous company we had out to work on our system only extended one pipe out of the D box so the ground where that pipe lead was completely saturated, thus the cess-pool. He recommended a company to come out to re-work the drain field and replace the D box (which is the original from the 1950s). He also didn't mind me standing there while he worked and asking him questions about how the system worked and what kind of maintenance needed to be done. He recommended a 3-year schedule to empty the tank and said he would put us on his calendar to call around that time to see if we were ready. All in all, Gary was professional, courteous, punctual and well work the money (which was VERY reasonable). I will recommend using Gary to anyone who says they need their tank emptied.
Description of Work: Gary came out and pumped the septic tank, cleaned the filter and looked at a problem we were having with a cess-pool in the yard.

+ -1 moreHard worker! Nice! Dug major holes with a shovel for six tanks (all on same property) on the hottest day this August. Pumped them all clean as a whistle. He's also honest, and smart with a lot of great advice. Very fair value for a true pro!

+ -1 moreGary went looking for a switch, and in a matter of moments found the switch, flipped open its cover and said he thought he'd found the problem - the switch was off. With a flip of the switch, the pump immediately came to life and rapidly drained the tank we'd been observing. In fact, the draining was so quick that Gary smiled and said the pump was just fine. That said, Gary closed up the access hatch to my second tank, said he'd clean out my in-line filter (which he said all Septic systems should have) and told me my septic didn't need any further attention this year - he was certain the tank wasn't full. With a promise from me to call him next year for another appointment, he cleaned up all evidence he'd been there, handed me a few business cards, refused any kind of payment for his terrific service or time, and left. If you don't call Gary for service of your septic system, you're nuts.
Description of Work: The approximate cost of service is not what I paid, only approximately Gary's normal fee, tax included. My septic tank alarm had tripped, but, somehow or other, I'd turned it off without ever hearing the alert; instead, last week I noticed the red light on the septic panel was illuminated steadily. When I re-enabled the alarm, it blared like there was no tomorrow and I knew I needed a septic clean out. Yesterday, I discovered and called Gary at Clean Septic Pumping through Angie's List. He scheduled me for today and was right on time. I showed him the location of the tank, and he went straight two work. Ten minutes later he was at my door, telling me I had a problem. With concern I followed Gary to my backyard and over to my septic's second tank where Gary pointed through the open access hatch and showed me a tank that was within inches of overflowing. Gary then pointed out the two electrical boxes for the septic pump and observed the silence of no pump running, and what looked like evidence of overheating of my septic pump - he was worried my septic pump was burned out and needed replacing, a job he couldn't do but estimated would run me about $2000 to $3000. Gary offered to call some companies he knew could do the job and see how quickly they could respond to my needs, but the best he could do was buy me some time by emptying my overflowing tank and filling his truck to its limit with effluent from the septic tank itself. Then Gary asked me a question: Do I have an exterior on/off switch for the septic pump? I told him I have no idea.

I highly recommend him.He responded to my phone call promptly and when he was running late to come to my place, he called me to inform of this. Great communication. When he arrived, he was very polite and professional and efficient. I didn't know the exact location of the septic lid but he had a way to find it and he found it and went to do the pumping job. He was very courteous throughout the service and very helpful. He measured and drew the map of the lid location so that it would be easier to pinpoint the lid location in future. To me best of all, I had a very good impression that he was very honest and that is very important and feel safe and good to do business with him.

+ -1 moreGary from Clean Septic is great, answered all my questions and took the time to explain how everything works and how to keep my system in top shape. This is the first time I've owned or lived in a property with a septic tank and he was super patient with all my questions and took the time to teach me all the basics. No pressure to oversell, actually quite the opposite, he was willing to just take a look and give me some basic info without charging me, then explained the fees for the inspection and if necessary pump, once we had the tank open he said it didn't need to be pumped but I felt better starting with a clean slate so I had him do it and he did a great job for a reasonable price and was in and out quickly and left the place looking like he was never even there. Will definitely be using him again in the future although I hope not to have to see him for anything other than a routine pump every 5 years!

+ -1 moreOn Saturday night(of a three day holiday weekend) our toilet overflowed. We have a septic system so we immediately ceased using anything that required water - making life difficult. On Sunday morning I began calling people on Angie's List starting with the 1st company on the list. I called 4 and no one was even returning phone calls. I did not call Clean Septic at first because it said he did not work on Sundays. By late Sunday afternoon when I hadn't heard back from anyone(after calling them for a 2nd time)I decided it couldn't hurt to leave a message with Clean Septic. To my surprise Gary answered the phone and said he would come out first thing Monday morning. I was so happy because I figured we may be stuck until at least Tuesday after Labor Day! Gary is so nice and professional. He arrived first thing Monday morning and got everything done within a few hours. A+++++++ customer service. Will recommend him every time if someone is looking for septic services!

+ -1 moreGary kept in contact with me concerning his arrival. He got hung up on another job and called to make arrangements for a later arrival. Gary found the septic tank and dug down to the opening and pumped it out for us. We had a problem with the sewer pipe separating from the tank. Gary uncovered the break and told me how to fix it. A little more digging on my part and a trip to Home Depot and $90 later I was in business. Great guy, highly highly recommend!
Description of Work: Called Gary because toilet running slow. No experience with septic systems or where the tank was located. Was quoted $250 to find the tank by another contractor. Gary found the tank in two minutes and was included in price to pump. He was able to uncover the tank, and pump out. Found problem with connection to septic tank, Gary told me how to fix.

There was some digging to find the lid and then he recommended we have him put in risers so the lids are closer to the surface for the next time. We really appreciated his professionalism and his great attitude.

+ -1 moreI called Gary because we were seeing some slow drainage and due to our lack of experience with septic systems we thought it would be needed. After digging out the opening he took a look and explained that there was not a problem with the tank and there would be no charge for the trip out!!! After I told him about the slow drainage he took the extra time to dig out the tank baffle and found a small clog which he cleared. He was still not going to take payment until I insisted on some payment for his efforts. This is my kind of professional service man.

+ -1 moreI was expecting this would cost a lot more, especially when he came out and saw that he'd have to lift what looks like 300+ pound slab of concrete to get to where he needed to pump. Not just once, but twice (my septic tank has two compartments, also an unknown!). Though unexpected and probably not something he would prefer doing, he told me it would be a bit more for labor but he'd be able to take care of it. He showed me where everything was, and gave me some tips to give to the new buyers. Top of the line customer service.
