Beautiful! Professional! Amazing outcome! The Zvara family went beyond what anyone could ever expect of a service provider. Our job was unique. Refinishing and staining 1000 sq. ft. of an exotic wood species that not many companies have worked with: Australian Cypress. The job called for staining this floor a dark walnut color. Extremely limited information or documentation supporting this combination. We interviewed 7 companies, and received 5 bids. Two companies flat out did not want to deal with the complexities involved. Joe, Noah, and Peter came and spent considerable time and effort just preparing for the job. Stain trials and flooring repairs that were actually beyond what was called for in the bid. But the truly amazing part of the entire experience came after some of the complexities of working with this species of wood became apparent. Their experience with hardwoods made all the difference. Long story short, Zvara Custom Wood Floors ended up going more than the distance to make sure that we were completely thrilled with the results. Can't say enough about the care and integrity that they demonstrated. Thanks guys!!

The work was done beautifully. I waited to post my review until after 'the honeymoon' period of my beautifully refinished wood floors was over in case I was 'new floor' blind. I am proud to report the honeymoon is going strong. The floors turned out gorgeous & my expectations were well exceeded. Amazing work. Super nice people to work with - I forgot to set up payment in full so I reached out to Joe - he reassured me not to worry and that Peter would put an invoice in the mail. It all went perfect!

Right from the start the Zvara's were professional and super to work with. They were very responsive by email, phone, and text. While their price wasn't the lowest I felt confident in their work because of their reviews on Angie's list and the way they answered my questions. I heard from several companies that quoted the job that staining a fir floor can be unpredictable because it can be splotchy, uneven, etc. The Zvara's explained the risks, but had a technique where they get the best results. I couldn't be happier with my floors!! They turned out even better than I imagined. I highly recommend Zvara Custom Wood Floors. I would hire them again in a heartbeat! Thanks, Peter, Noah, and Joe!

Noah showed up on time to give us an estimate and he was very patient and polite, taking the time to answer our questions about the process. Their price was not the cheapest but it was very competitive and we selected Zavara based on our positive experience with Noah and the reviews on Angies list. Joe called us after we accepted the proposal and made every effort to schedule the work for a time that worked for our family. They arrived on time and did a fantastic job despite the fact that our floors were very worn and damaged. The work was completed on time and they did a great job cleaning up so there was very little residual dust. We had a minor issue with the floor vents but Peter Zavara worked with us to resolve the issue to our satisfaction. This is a very professional, well run, responsive company and I've already referred them to friends for additional work. If you select them, you will not be disappointed.

It went amazing! Zvara was prompt, easy to reach with questions, helpful with explanations, and did a very professional and beautiful job. They are competitively priced, friendly, willing to work with you and your schedule, as well as patient with my millions of questions.. They came, worked hard and quickly, and left leaving behind beautiful wood floors finished perfectly. Zvara is a family owned business with father and sons, and the sons were on site at all times working with the crew. Truly a top notch business. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone.

Peter came out and did the measurement and provided me with an estimate. He was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Due to scheduling reasons I chose to use our handyman to perform the work at the end. However, I was very impressed with their professionalism, service offered and responsiveness. I would definitely use them in the future.

From the initial contact with Peter Zvara through project clean-up, this company was wonderful to work with. We're preparing to sell our home and the floors were in desperate need of refinishing. In addition, we took advantage of the opportunity to replace some carpet in odd places with hardwood for a more seamless look. Peter was punctual, communicative and responsive in all contacts with him. His son, Joe, led the crew that did the work. The first crew member to arrive (a few minutes early) found us still struggling to move some heavy furniture and jumped right in to help. Joe arrived next, and he helped us make a good decision on stain color, made sure we understood the process, and got his very pleasant crew right to work. The first thing they did was put up plastic sheeting to protect the areas of the house that weren't involved in the project, which was no easy task as our home is mostly open spaces with 24-foot ceilings. They also moved the washer and dryer for us, as well as the refrigerator -- which they made sure was plugged in for the duration. And we didn't even have to pack up the contents! Joe called on the third day to confirm we could get back into the house that evening, and was there finishing clean-up with one of his crew members when we arrived. He walked through with us, pointed out where they'd filled a couple of nail holes and told us that a few more might appear and that they'd promptly come to fill them if they did. He was concerned that the odor might bother us (others might have chosen to let it air out overnight before returning but we were in a hurry), but it was minor relative to what we thought it might be. Clean-up was quick, efficient, and thorough. And I should mention the lovely little oak vent covers they installed to match our floors! I'd hire this company again in a heartbeat, and we've already got one neighbor who intends to hire them in the near future after observing our experience with them and seeing our gorgeous floors.

I lined up 4 quotes on a single day - I was the most impressed with Peter Zvara. He showed up exactly on time and offered many tips for how to get the best looking and lasting hardwoods. We scheduled a date to work around my schedule (about 2 months out) and they held that date, and even send reminders along the way. Our floors were badly worn, but now they look stunning. I am very pleased with the quality and professionalism of Peter and his team.

From our initial meeting with Peter, we were impressed with what a bright , friendly gentleman he was. He took the curved hearth situation in stride and assured us his crew could manage it. The job started on time just a couple of weeks later. One day was spent installing the floor. Then it had to sit for 4 days. Then the guys returned to sand and apply two coats of stain one day and an additional coat the next day. Three days later we moved our furniture back and have been congratulating ourselves ever since on how smart we were to go to Angie's List to find this wonderful company. We marvel that there is absolutely no way of telling where our kitchen's hardwood floor ends and the family room's begins. The stain match and flawless work is that good. Peter's crew were kind and hardworking. We were impressed by how much pride they took in their work - and it shows. We heartily recommend this company.

This is a family business that takes pride in its work. Peter, the father, was very quick to respond and schedule an appointment. Arrived for bid on time and emailed proposal quickly. I got two other bids from Angieslist, and they were all about the same price and experience. I chose Zvara over the others because a friend said they were the best and that I should hire them even if I had to wait, which I did. They arrived 15 minutes earlier than scheduled, and the crew got to work immediately. I think there were four men, and they knew exactly what each of them was responsible for doing. No chatting, no fuse, no questions, just focused, organized and professional. I have a large open home with high ceiling, so they had to seal off areas that are not usually part of the job. No problem. Several of the baseboards are round and could not be removed, so there was a lot of hand-sanding. No problem. There are carpet insets that needed to be masked off and finished by hand. No problem. Although I have always given the home TLC, I built the house almost 30 years ago, had kids and large dogs, and this was the first time I had the floors refinished, so there were areas of obvious wear. I plan to stay in this home for many more years, so I wanted the best finished I could get. They applied two coats of "Swedish" plus a top coat. All of the wear, scratches and a few deep gouges have disappeared completely, and the floor is exactly what I hoped for.

Customer service was excellent. The crew promptly arrived at 8 am every morning that they working. They were fast, efficient, and polite to us and explained each step. We had to do this in stages with the master bedroom first because we needed to clean out the room and store and live elsewhere. This is a long process and they worked great with us. The floor is beautiful and we would highly recommend The Zvara Family to anyone who appreciates quality workmanship.

We were pleased with the service. They were able to fix the flooring that the previous vendor messed up. The finish was uneven, the corners looked bad. There were rotary marks on the floor. Zvara was able to buff it all and refinish it. The previous company took months to do the job; Zvara was able to finish the job in a few days. We give them an A+. They were easy to reach, which was a bonus. There was a small problem when they were done; they came back and fixed it right away.

Received several bids but choose this provider because they were not going to remove the base board and were going to carefully work close to the edges so as to not potentially damage the base boards. They were on time, on budget and did a fantastic job. They communicated exactly what we needed to do to prep for the job and were helpful in making the decision on the change in the stain color. They also gave good information on how to care for the floor in the near term as well as long term. I would highly recommend them.

Peter was responsive, but declined to work in Federal Way unless the job was 1,500 sq ft or more.

Zvara was highly professional throughout all stages of the refinishing project. Excellent communication, highly responsive, fair price, and we were very impressed with how clean the house was upon return. The floors were in fairly poor condition prior but their work made it look like a brand new hardwood installation. Highly recommend Zvara.

I had a few quotes for new hardwood floors in our home office. Zvara had the most reasonable prices and the installers were fantastic. They were very professional and courteous. Noah always called the night before to remind us that they would be doing work the next day and tell us exactly when they would be arriving. They were always prompt and showed up on time. The finished hardwood floors were gorgeous. The stain matched the existing hardwood in the rest of the house almost exactly and we couldn't have been more pleased by the results. I would have Zvara back for additional work (for new hardwood installation or refinishing) in a heartbeat.

We had a water leak in our kitchen from the refrigerator ice maker water line. This damaged a 4 x 8 foot section of the wood flooring around the refrigerator. The insurance company came out and estimated the repair at around $4500 - $5000 including replacement of damaged wood in the immediate area of the leak and then the sanding and re-finishing of the entire wood floor in our kitchen which extends into a hallway and a bathroom and the main entrance to the house. We received two bids, one was around $4800 and one was from Zvara Custom Wood Floors that was around $3500. Both seemed capable of the job and the reviews were about the same for both companies so we went with Zvara. This is a family run business and we met each of the prinicipals....Peter does the estimating......Noah does the scheduling and some of the work....and Joe did some of the work also. Peter suggested that the damaged section be torn up about a week before the actual job so that the wood underneath could be evaluated for dryness and any additional repair if necessary. This was done on Wed 12/3/14 and took Joe about 2 hours to accomplish. There was no need for additional repair and the area was sufficiently dry so that the replacement and sanding/re-finishing work could take place the following week. Then on Monday, 12/8/14, Noah arrived and took over the beginning of the job. We turned over the keys to the house, walked through where everything was and left. We spent two nights in a local hotel while the job was accomplished. When we came back on Wed 12/10/14, everything had been accomplished and it looked great. We also had a plumber come out and install an extra turn-off valve for the water line (the original turn off was under the house) behind the refrigerator that will make it easier the next time (we hope it never happens again). Zvara accomplished this scheduling and put the additional work on the bill, making it a no-brainer for us. We appreciated the professionalism of the company and the quality of the work. I would strongly recommend this company.

From the first email to the service this organization--Zvara Custom floors was responsive, prompt and professional. After 4 months of either missed appointments or bids with no follow up, Mr. Zvara showed for the bid appointment on time. Provided the bid via email at the time he said he would with a great bid. It was $1500 less than other bids. Then the scheduling of the work happened in a very short amount of time. The personal call from the man who was going to do the work was great, the follow up from the supervisor and then the follow up phone call and email...all above reproach. And the floors are amazing! After getting 5-7 quotes on our hardwood floor project, we decided to go with Peter and Zvara Custom Flooring. Peter came out to do the initial quote and I was impressed from the start. He was very easy to communicate with and straight forward in his quoting process. His demeanor that first day already had me leaning towards choosing them. Once we chose Zvara Custom Wood Floors, Peter called to ask if he could bring out his wood supplier just to make sure they got the order correct. We have a white oak, but with a lot of character, so several providers mistook it for red oak. Peter went the extra mile to ensure our new wood would be as close as possible to the existing (30+ year old) wood. Peter was very detailed about what needed to be done for us to do the prep work ourselves. We chose to do this in order to save some money on the big flooring project. Noah scheduled our flooring and told us what dates and times we needed to either be there or be out of the house. They were able to work with our very busy summer plans! (We had the project completed end of July 2014) The team was punctual, laid the floors in one day and came back a few days later to do the sanding and layers of finish. After the project was complete, Peter made sure to check in and have us see if there was anything that they missed. They sent someone out right away to patch a couple of places where the filling didn't quite cover a few wood nails and correct a few finish drips. We left our house in disarray for a few months as we switched out lighting, painted the walls and installed new baseboards. Then in Oct 2014, we were noticing some movement (bowing in one section, and what looked like finish being squeezed out in another place) in some of our hardwoods as well as a few additional drip spots (or spots with residue stuck in the finish). I contacted Peter again and he immediately set me up with Noah to have him come check it out. Noah came by yesterday (Nov 3, 2014) and checked out my concerns. He was on time, polite, and on top of communicating his timing with me through all the rain and traffic we were both battling to get home. He told me he would set something up right away to have someone come in to fix a few of the drip spots. He also said he'd like to come back himself in two months to track any of the movement in the floor in the kitchen and make sure it's settled (or dried out, or done moving). There may be some residual moisture from a dishwasher leak back in April (that actually spurred this project) and he wants to make sure the floors settle evenly now that we are running heat through the winter months or that they are sanded and corrected. He also explained that we were correct in thinking some of the finish was squeezing out in the couple of areas-the floors adjust and settle with the seasons and weather changing. He was more than happy to have someone out to come sand off that slight squeeze out if we wanted. Overall, I found Peter and his team incredibly responsive and easy to work with. There were a few spots in the finish work that could have been better, but I understand that it's a large area and the work is done by hand. The finished project is beautiful and we get loads of compliments. I've been very impressed with Peter's responsiveness and willingness to come correct the few imperfections when we called. I would definitely recommend Zvara Custom Wood Floors for any flooring projects.
