Estimator came out within a few days of my original phone call. Was prompt and very easy to talk to about what we needed to do. His visit was quick, he left and sent me an estimate about an hour later via e-mail. The electrician that came out to do the work couldn't have been better. At the last minute we had decided to add another outlet to the closet in the adjoining room. No problem. I still have not got a final bill reflecting this additional work, but I assume it will be reasonable. Very good company, will use them again.
Description of Work: We had a closet opening enlarged and needed an outlet moved as the contractor doing the closet did not feel comfortable with our older wiring. We also decided to add another outlet on the other side of the closet.

When a customer wants something performed beyond the scope of our estimate we strive to accommodate. It's often more efficient to perform small extras on a time and material basis while we are already onsite. In this case, the customer only paid for 30 minutes of labor to get the additional outlet, whereas a separate trip out would have resulted in at least an hour of labor. 50% savings is a pretty good deal.

This family owned company was OUTSTANDING! Jeff Whetzel, the president himself, came out to do an estimate for me on a repair or replacement of an electrical panel. Upon inspection, the problem was a very simple fix and he was honest enough to tell me the panel did not need to be replaced. He was professional, friendly, punctual, and done in 10 minutes. I will be recommending him to others and will keep him in mind for the future!

This was simply a push of a button to correct. Sometimes a customer will have a tripped breaker or GFCI outlet causing problems. When I suspect this is the case, I will ask customers about checking their breakers and GFCI's and this has saved more than a few customers the expense of having an electrician sent out.

First off, of all the contractors who came to do an estimate, EHS was the only contractor who handed me their business card, first thing. - Very professional. // EHS was comfortable and experienced working on older homes. They did a great job estimating and coming up with the best way to route cables through the old walls. They *always* showed up when they said they would and worked quickly to complete the job. The city inspector found some minor fixes needed in final inspection (technicalities, not basic), and they quickly remedied them, with no charge. A pleasure to work with.

Thank you! Just wanted to make a note, that we never charge "travel fees' on estimated work. When we provide a quote, we spell out what we are going to do and how much it will cost. This is one of the reasons we encourage our customers to take advantage of our free estimates. While we also perform smaller repairs without estimates, we are happy to discuss our rates at the time the order is placed.

Jeff came out and did a walk through of the house. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. It took two days for him to prepare a bid for us and then just overnight for him to modify the bid based some further questions from me. The bid was competitive but we ultimately chose to go with someone else. I would not hesitate to call him in the future though to bid on other work or to recommend him to a friend.

We needed a bunch of switches installed - in a new to us home. 3-ways, dimmers, fix a fried outlet in the living room, bathroom fan on a timer, etc. They got us a terrific fan and installed it, as well as addressed all of the other items. They came when they said they would, were pleasant and communicative, helpful and provided us with useful information.

I'm sorry to see the "B" grade on price. We conduct annual survey's of residential electrical contractors in the greater Seattle area and our rates are on par with other similar sized firms. We welcome the competition for business and have enjoyed considerable success in providing a high level of service at competitive prices. We believe that price is very important but more important is knowing that you are working with a qualified electricians that you can trust and feel comfortable working in your home.

It went perfectly. Jeff came out one morning to give us an estimate. He was on time and efficient while he was here, discussing in detail the work to be done. It was a pretty simple job, but he treated it as though it were important. I was especially pleased that he inquired about our work schedules and arranged for us to be the first appointment of the day, with our choice of days. The next morning we received a written estimate for the job. On the day of the job, the electrician arrived exactly on time and got right to work. He was finished in just about the time estimated. He walked us through what he had done, cleaned up and went on his way. All in all, we were very please with all aspects of EHS.
Description of Work: EHS installed a motion-detector light over our backdoor. There was an existing switch and light, but it wasn't functional. The wiring was wrong and it was a pretty bad fire hazard. They had to extend the wiring properly from the existing wall junction box to the outside of the door and install the light (which we provided).

The work was handled very professionally. They ran into an expensive glitch that certainly took a bite out of their profit on a relatively small job, but they dealt with it without complaint. I have hired them several times, always with a competitive bid. Their bids are always detailed and low, and their workmanship is great.

The electrician arrived on time and quickly determined the problem. He told me what sort of bulbs to buy and showed me how to replace them. It wasn't all that obvious. I'm not the helpless type who can't change a lightbulb! Well, but I did feel a little sheepish, and asked him to consider adding the two jobs mentioned above. That, also, wasn't easy: to add a receptacle in the hall, he had to squeeze into our nasty attic and drill through to the wall which had a few blocks of wood horizontally between the studs. More than he anticipated, in this 87 year old house. But he did the deed, cleaned up after himself, and left us electrically adequate at last.
Description of Work: An undercounter light fixture stopped working and EHS was asked to troubleshoot the problem. Turns out all the bulbs were burned out. Since the electrician was here, he was asked to change a 2-part receptacle to a 4-part, grounded receptacle and to add a new receptacle in an upstairs hallway. Even though the reason for his visit was done, he agreed to add the extra work.

I was able to schedule an appointment quickly to get an estimate and I got the lowest price of two other bids. Jeff recommended I use a 125 amp panel to save money (including the City fee for upgrading capacity) and he based his price on that initially ($2071). I decided to go with the larger panel due to more power needs so he gave me a new quote for that which I was happy with. On the day the work was scheduled to be done the installer was sick so it had to be rescheduled. EHS was very accomodating to fit into my schedule, though it took longer for them to get back to actually start the job than I was expecting. Their installer Joe was very professional, competent and friendly. In order to meet the City requirement of the power coming to the house in the front third of the house the mast (strike) had to be moved and 20' or so of 2" conduit run. He was very willing to work with me to make sure the electrical conduit wrapping around the side of the house was located in an aesthetically pleasing place that I wouldn't mind looking at for many years, not just taking the straightest or quickest route. The work was bid to take only one day but due to the complexity of the situation and the thoroughness of the installer the job had to be completed in a second day. He was very good about making sure to leave the power connected and in a safe condition at the end of the first day (since it took a few days for him to get back to finish). At the end of each day the jobsite was left clean and tidy. The City inspector approved the new panel with no problems. I was very pleased with the work performed and I would recommend EHS to anyone else. The only advise I would give is to make sure to confirm the date of the scheduled work and make sure they give your job priority. It worked out fine for me but something to keep in mind.
Description of Work: To replace an existing electrical panel in our 1940's era home with a 200 amp service and add grounding rods. Relocate the mast on the roof to meet code and route wires alongside the house to new panel. The existing wires inside the house were reconnected to the new panel and no other changes (or upgrades) were made. The price included labor and materials and the City permit fees and taxes but not a one time service fee for upgrading the capacity added to the monthly utility bill.

I must apologize to the member for the scheduling difficulties in finishing this project and we thank you for your patience. Our electricians are human just like everyone else, people get sick, personal issues come up, etc. When these situations arise, we do everything in our power to meet our customers needs, even if it means we have to switch personnel around (as was the case here) and in most cases we are able to limit delays that result from unforeseen circumstance like this to a few days. Every member of our service team has been hand selected from the hundreds of electricians we have employed over the years. We have some service electricians that have been with the company over 20 years. The key is that they are all qualified to perform a variety of electrical tasks with proficiency. As such, it doesn't matter which electrician we send, you are going to get a well trained, experienced and dedicated electrician. We understand that home improvement projects require not only our time but your time as well. And of course, our first consideration anytime something like this happens is working within your schedule needs.

I will admit, I really enjoy getting straight A's, but I also know that there are going to be times when electrical work gets to be more expensive than people would prefer. Ask yourself, when it comes to the safety of your family and possessions, do you really want a "cheap" electrician? We find our rates to be very competitive but we understand we can't always be the lowest bidder. We are glad that our customers see the importance of looking at more than just the price but our goal is to give pricing that is fair and honest. When examining a "low-ball" estimate, make sure your contractor isn't leaving anything out or taking short cuts. Check their record. I've heard about this Angie's List website that is very helpful in avoiding pitfalls.

See above for detail on overall experience. The electrician was at our door, right on time, ready to go. He must have gone up and down our stairs fifty times to double-check everything. When we threw the switches on everything, it all worked!
Description of Work: We had a rather complex project, as our house still has some old knob and tube electrical. These guys really know their craft! They had to wire for two dedicated circuits. Running wire from the basement panel, up the back of the house, and into the attic required the agility of the squirrels that make their home in our gutters. Our guy then had to crawl into a tiny space, put in the new outlets, and exit without too much of a mess. Big success! He did everything in about six hours, where other outfits were telling us twice the time, and twice the cost. He also wired our "media" room for installation of new electronics that would have blown the circuits, unless we rewired. A really terrific job with minimal intrusion. Was nice to our dog as well. :)

Jeff Whetzel came within days to give me a quote on the work I needed done. He scheduled a good residential electrician to do the work within 2 weeks. David, the electrician who did the work, was great. He also showed me how to get a large ladder up my steep, narrow 3 story stairwell.

I love this report because it highlights one of our electricians going above and beyond the call of duty in helping the customer solve a problem that had nothing to do with the electrical work and everything to do with sharing our experience. While the "B" grades on punctuality and professionalism are a little disappointing in light of all the "A"s we typically receive we appreciate knowing we are still above average.

David showed up right on time to disconnect the wiring to the existing porch light before the cement guys came to demolish the front porch and existing light pole. Once the porch was demolished and the new porch was framed, he returned to extend new wiring from the basement to the new post location before the cement was poured. At this point in time, he also installed the exterior outlet and looked at the lighting fixtures that I had purchased. He pointed out to me that the pieces didn't fit together. Turns out I bought a post that was supposed to be sunk in the cement instead of set on top of it. Once the cement was poured and dried and I had bought the right type of post, he returned to install the light post and fixture and make the final connections. He also installed a new dining room chandelier at this time.
Description of Work: I needed a new light post installed on the outside of a new front porch, a new electrical outlet installed on the outside of the house, and a chandelier replaced in the dining room. The porch project involved multiple visits that required coordination with the cement and construction contractors.

Fuse box was finished months before the remodel started. Miscommunication between remodeler and owner caused electrician not to be scheduled when needed.
