Company stopped by after noticing trees and asked if I would be interested in having the work done. Arborist went through stand of trees with me, discussed what I wanted done and gave me the estimate. It was reasonably competitive with other estimates I had gotten for the work, but on the high side. Their scheduling flexibility worked in their favour though. Arborist promised to be there when the crew arrived the next week. Team was about 45 minutes late arriving, and the arborist was not there initially, but did arrive prior to the team commencing work. Team was ~8. Truck was marked Evergreen Tree Service (which has received poor reviews here) leading me to stay outside with them while they worked. Overall, the team was quick and deliberate in their work, did not remove anything that I had wanted to keep and consulted me on how I wanted things shaped and whether or not I wanted particular branches removed. Team was also willing to work with me to get individual branches that had caused me issues removed. Debris removal was efficient and thorough.
Description of Work: Skirted and removed all dead material from 5 pine trees and 1 hemlock on property, removed 5 large dying evergreen bushes and removed other brush/debris from area. *Site was in Port Orchard, WA, though Angie's List says they don't service that area.

After he left and my husband signed the estimate, we found out that all the information about our trees was wrong. He didn t even identify the trees properly, let alone what we needed to do. We never did hear from them and we were excepting to schedule work. We had a guy show up at the house six weeks later and tell us that they guy who had talked to my husband and had him sign the contract left the company. My husband didn t sign a contract. It was represented as an estimate. He talked to another gentleman who gave us even further incorrect information about what our trees needed. We were very unimpressed when we got an extremely aggressive and nasty phone call from someone a little higher ranking in the company. They said they would be legally holding us liable for the initial contract. It s been a bit of a screwy situation. We are in the process of consulting an attorney to get it stopped. We feel like they are harassing us. They showed up at the house yesterday. We ve had them show up three different times. They are pursuing us rather aggressively and there was some bad representation involved.
Description of Work: They sent someone out to look at doing some work for my husband. My husband spent some time with him. We have a lot of tress on our property and the man represented himself as an arborist.

Chris seemed very knowledgeable as an Arborist, the guys were fun to watch climb the trees. They did a good job cleaning up also. They had to come out a second time due to breaking of some climbing equipment, but they showed up less than a week later. Chris was easy to reach by phone and answered all the questions I had.
Description of Work: I received a telemarketing call from Evergreen Tree Service for a free consultation by an Arborist. Since we live in a heavily wooded area and frequently have trees blow down in the wind, I decided to take him up on his offer. Chris Hayden, Arborist, came out and looked at our trees. We had two firs that had ivy growing up almost to the tops (the trees are about 80 years old). We also had a fir that needed to be trimmed so that it wouldn't drop all it's stuff on our new deck. Chris recommended that we have all 15 of our trees windsailed (for a total of $3500), but we wanted to keep the price lower, so we settled on just having the two trees removed of the ivy and all three windsailed. It was amazing to watch the guys climb the trees!

The company provides free tree and shrub analysis. They did a great job cleaning up after the work was done. They give great advice for tree care and are receptive to all your questions; they are very friendly and helpful!
Description of Work: We have used them for a wind sail technique to thin out large pine trees so that wind can pass through them easily; they have also done some work on our birch trees as well.

A representative had come door to door canvassing for work. I have 3 very tall fir trees in the back yard that I wanted to make sure were healthy. He checked, thought they were but recommended the trees be thinned (sail trimmed) to allow the winds to go through them better. He gave me 2 quotes, one for the front yard tree ($200) an another for the sail trimming ($2400). If I had the sail trimming done, they would do the front tree for free. I contracted them for the front tree removal which was done satisfactory. Not sure about the sail trimming. If I decide to go ahead and have this done, I would get some more bids. It seems expensive, but maybe not considering the dangerous work it is.
Description of Work: Removed a small tree from my front yard, including removal of the brush.

I called on a flyer left at our door. Chris Champoux came by, appeared knowledgeable & gave an appropriate estimate, saying work would be scheduled, he would be there to supervise and direct crew. Crew called a few days later, saying they were on their way! They arrived and started before I arrived home. Chris Champoux was NOT there, and NOT available by phone. When reached later he LIED about what he had said. Crew proceeded with work on shearing. They argued that they were only going to fence, not property line, as "at that price" they shouldn't go an additional 8" back. Crew did not know how to prune ornamental trees. For example they cut LEADING branches off (including branches approx 4" in diameter) and then kept branches crossing through the center of the tree. This permanently damage the shape and look of the tree, plus will lead to sucker branch growth in future years. Oh, and they refused to cut the brown leaves off as stated in the contract. The crew leader tried to bully me into accepting his non-performance of work. I just wanted them OFF my property and for the damage to stop. I will NEVER use them again and wish I could go back in time and unhire them. Crew was then hired by neighbor, dropped all Neighbor's limbs into yard, and then tried to BULLY me into saying that I had agreed to this when they said "any debris they dropped into my yard they would clean up" meant LIMBS from 40' up. Um, no it's leaves, needles and sawdust. In what I can only assume is pure spite, the crew then incited the neighbor to authorize the trimming of the ornamental cherry back to the property line. It appears the crew is unable to distinguish between hedge trees and a 30+ year old ornamental tree. I waited a couple of months to post this, and I still feel the same way. This review is not written in the heat of the moment.

Poor follow-up when soliciting for new customers is bad for business.
Description of Work: A sales person came door to door asking if I was interested in tree services. Since I was in fact in need, but hadn't begun searching for an arborist yet, I agreed to an appointment. We scheduled for the next afternoon. The Arborist called just prior to the appointment and said he had been double booked and wouldn't be able to make it. We rescheduled for the next day, but no one showed up or called to cancel. I called the sales rep., Erling, who apologized and said he would contact someone and make things right and then call me right back. He never called back. Needless to say I wasn't very impressed with the lack of customer service.

Evergreen Tree Care workers came to my door while they were doing other work in the neighborhood and asked if I wanted an estimate for tree care. I had in fact already gotten a few estimates for some tree work, so I said yes. John came a half hour late the next day, which made for a rushed and uncomfortable discussion. He came back the next day as we had planned and had a more thorough look at the trees, and came again early the next week, when I agreed to the work. Although I was irritated by John's focus on what made their company better than others (the guys who work for Evergreen have been doing it for a long time), he seemed to really get what I wanted and promised he would communicate that to the guys who would work on the trees. They came out early the next morning, as planned, with John's notes that he had apparently faxed to them. I had to explain to them what I wanted because in fact John had not talked to them. I left a message for John asking him to call the workers and brief them on our discussions. Apparently he didn't get that message until much later in the day. Luckily, they knew what they were doing and did a great job on the trees, even agreeing to go back into one of them and cut a few more branches after they'd packed up.

I asked for bids on removing dead wood and windsailing (trimming tree to lessen wind resistance) trees on my lot. Evergreen's representative (Mike Pratt) appeared the most knowledgeable and looked around the most. After accepting Evergreen's bid, I contacted Mike and scheduled a Tuesday afternoon for the work. They didn't show for the scheduled time and I called Mike. He was apologetic and explained they had job that was bigger than they expected. We rescheduled for the following day. The 2 man trimming crew showed up on time the next day. The crew was quick, cleaning up 2 120 ft. + trees in about 2 hours. The chipping crew showed shortly after the trimming crew and quickly picked up and removed the dead wood and some brush around the base of the trees. They even cleaned the roof of the house under the tree. Overall, except for the scheduling snafu, I give them an A! They quickly and efficiently did exactly what they said they would do.

We are very pleased! We called several companies, most of whom either didn't bother to return our calls or failed to show up to give us an estimate. The rep from Evergreen Tree Care came as promised on Tuesday to give us an estimate on removing the large hemlock and also made suggestions on some things they could do to help one of our large firs handle wind better. We accepted the estimate and scheduled the work for Thurs afternoon. The Evergreen crew arrived at about 11:30 am and got right to work. The hemlock was only about 15 feet from our house and nearly surrounded with landscaping. One fork was leaning toward the house at quite an angle. The tree came down with no damage to the house and only a few broken branches in the landscape plants below. All of the wood was cut to 18" lengths. The branches were gathered up, chipped and hauled away. We've got some more tree clean-up to do in the future and we will definitely consider using this company again.

Rep showed up on time for consultation and estimate. We walked around yard and we talked about each tree I had questions about and except for the dead tree removal all else looked healthy. Gave me a price of $800 to remove tree and had service reps in my area and could preform work within a week. Team showed up two days later as scheduled and preform a very safe, clean, and satisfactory tree removal. I was very happy with the work done.

The work crew was very quick and efficient. They came when they said they would and finished the entire job over two days. They were very careful of other trees and plants in the yard and of the house when they were working near it. Clean-up was thorough and they did it at the end of each day's work. The only small problem was that they dropped a branch from one of the large trees onto a piece of metal yard art that was attached to the trunk of the tree, bending it slightly. The worker tried and was able to bend it back almost to its original position.
Description of Work: Evergreen windsailed 8 large fir trees and cut down a small hemlock that was dying from the top down and a large holly bush next to the house. They cut and stacked the wood from the trees that were cut down and disposed of all of the branches and other debris from the wind sailed trees. This was about 2/3 of the work they recommended doing when they first visited our property; they willingly scaled back the job to meet our budget.

They were in close quarters and they didn't damage a thing. They took care of their debris and were out of there amazingly fast.
Description of Work: They cut down 2 trees for us. One of the trees was a huge, dangerous Alder. They cut down all the limbs and the trunk into sections. The other tree was a half dead fir tree that was also kind of dangerous because it was unbalanced. They left it as a wildlife stump for us. They pruned and wind failed 2 more. They suggested that we just reduce the wind fail for a maple and a giant fir tree.

A representative came to the door and asked if I was interested in an estimate for any tree work. We walked the yard and discussed different possibilities. The estimate was $1500 for 6 trees to be thinned and shaped, plus cleaning up of 3 or 4 large shrubs. The two trees that I had done were $500. He said they could do the work on the following Monday (the estimate was on Wednesday). I called back on the next day and said I would like to go ahead with just the two trees in the front. I left a voice mail. The crew had a cancellation and stopped by that very same day and completed the work in about 3 hours time. They did a nice job.

The representative seemed professional and knowledgeable. He gave me the estimate on Wednesday and was working on another job in the area on Friday and told me he would come out Friday afternoon around 2 pm. 2 pm, 3 pm passed and no trimmers. Around 3:30 I called the company and the woman who answered the phone had not heard of me and could not get in touch with the crew. She said we would have to reschedule. By Tuesday, I had not heard from them and called them and told them I would get another tree service who was more reliable. Maybe one who knows something about customer service! If I had received a phone call I would have let them do the work but nothing!
