Second time Evergreen has worked on my forested property. Great service at a fair price. They have a knowledable foreman and crew with good attitude. Arrive on time, get it done and clean up. Since most big trees might cost $1000-$2,000, they will work with you to offer a payment plan. This makes it possible to stay on top of maintenance. They get an A+ from me. D. Kirtley

Started with a cold call to our front door. They gave us an estimate for the work (we and our neighbors had a lot of tree damage from last winter's storms) and we scheduled a time to have it done. The estimater also said he would give our neighbors a good deal if they wanted their storm damage removed. The estimator was very knowledgable about the plantings in our yard and we can now put names to more of them. The crew showed up on time and accomplished the tree trimming, thinning and shaping in short order. They chipped up most of the material and picked up and cleaned off our decks and driveway. But, there was quite a bit of small trimmings we had to pick up out of the flower beds. They also removed a huge dangling fir tree top from the neighbor's yard. Overall a good experience, if a little pricey.
Description of Work: Trimmed storm damage out of three big firs in front and backyard. Did windsail trim to these trees and trimmed up a big cedar over the driveway. Trimmed shrubs back from the house, shaped our rhodies and took storm damage out of sweet gum tree and rain cut the broken top.

Came to our door despite no soliciting signs and walked around our house. Questioned why he was in our back yard (we have cameras) and was very pushy. Finally left but not before saying our arborist who did our trees last year didn?t know what he was doing. We would not use a company as pushy as them let alone one that can?t read or understand not interested. They claim to be hiring people of the highest integrity on their website. I?d say they should look at their existing employees first.

I set up the appointment for 10am on a friday morning. At 1030am I received a phone call wanting to know if I would rescheduling to noon. I agreed. Then after I hung up I thought about the situation and decided I did not want to do business with someone who misses an appointment and then calls late to reschedule. I called the arborist back and explained that I was sorry but I was going to have to cancel my appointment at noon because I was not comfortable doing business with someone who missed an appointment and then called late to reschedule. The arborist then got very rude with me saying that I need to be more flexible and that it was beyond his control. He proceeded to tell me that by canceling the appointment that I was denying the woman that made the appointment her commission and that he was going to have to explain this to the company all because I was being rude by canceling. I simply replied by saying, "this conversation confirms that I made the right decision". Then about 15minutes later I received a voicemail from the arborist apologizing, and hoping I didn't hold his behavior against the company. I have read good things about this company and was looking forward to working with them, but I will not be using them.
Description of Work: A woman came to my door a week ago wanting to set up an appointment for an arborist to come by and give a quote on any tree work we needed done. I have a few trees that needed trimming/pruning so I agreed to make an appointment.

They cut off the lower branches of some large trees and ever re-trimmed a few that I wanted cut back a bit further than they did the first time. They moved 2 small trees taking good care of the landscaping I had around the trees. They even re-moved one so that it would better block out a sign from the road.

The salesperson, John, was half an hour late to our initial appointment which meant that I had very little time left to talk with him in the hour I'd allotted for the appointment during my workday. Other than timeliness he was a good salesperson. I wanted him to give me a quote on cleaning out three large evergreens that were shedding onto the roof and in windstorms dropping branches onto the roof. He persuaded me that a 4th tree which I didn't see as an issue should also get worked on, telling me that as it has a split stem it really is a hazard and that they should cable the stems together. He was a bit hard to pin down on price but very good on qualifying me. I asked him to give me a quote with and without the tree I didn't care about- he said it was an extra $500, we settled on an extra $300 for the cabling work but that the crownwork was included. I didn't have time to wait for him to write up the quote so he emailed it to me and I emailed back my ok. As I was 'getting a special deal because they were already doing some work in the neighborhood' they couldn't commit to what date they'd be there, but just that I'd have to trust that they'd get the job done on a day they'd be working nearby. I'm a sucker for a good salesperson (anyone see "Tin Men?). A couple weeks later the job was done. At least three trees were cleaned up and they did a nice looking job with it. The person who happened to be at the house at the time said they were polite, hard working, and thorough. As i didn't know when they were going to be there I hadn't given her a copy of the quote to validate that they were doing what they said they would. There's this one tree where I couldn't see a cable installed per the quote. Twice their customer satisfaction department has called me to ask if I'm satisfied and twice I said, "No, you didn't do what you said you were and you charged me for it we need to do something about that." Each time he was very apologetic and said he'd have it straightened out, the second time he seemed shocked that no one else had contacted me. I'm very surprised they didn't follow up. Especially as I said I was on the edge of writing my first ever negative review here). I think that what I should have done differently is not allow time pressure to affect my judgement and just told the guy he was half an hour late and we'd have to reschedule for some time not during my workday. Then, when he said they couldn't give me a solid date on when they'd do the work so I couldn't be there to watch, I should have said, "No." I think they're nice people, more than halfway professional and good at climbing trees and cutting branches, but I'd like to suggest a bit of buyer beware with these folks. UPDATE 10/1/12: Since I posted this review the salesperson, John, got in touch with me to apologize. He sent a crew back to trim that one tree and document that there actually was what appears to be a nylon rope tying the split top together. Additionally he sent me a refund check for $75. John eventually made good.
Description of Work: I hired Evergreen to crown clean and trim three trees, and to crown clean trim and cable a 4th.

Evergreen Tree Service sent a truck to my home to remove trees on a day that I needed to work. They arrived fifteen minutes before I left my home. The guy in charge, who was supposed to come with the work crew, did not show up. The crew left big piles of mess after they were finished. I wanted stuff put in a certain place, but they blocked up my whole yard. I could not clean up the mess and tried to get in touch with the boss of the crew to come check the work done. It was difficult to get him out and when he finally did show up, he stated that the crew did a good job. The crew that did the work was fine, but the man in charge was not even there. He was not really helpful.

Because of the thunderstorms, the workers could not complete the job in one day as planned. However, there was a large amount of debris that was not removed, and the workers did not come back to complete the cleanup. There was no follow-up by the arborist, not even a phone call to see how we liked the work performed. The firewood was not cut to 16". The basic work was good, but the loose ends were annoying, and we did the final cleanup.

Unfortunately, this review appears to be mistaken because I do not know the client, nor do I perform the services referred to or service any area around Seattle. I am a self employed arborst so the references to "they" also do not relate to me. Hopefully, the review will be directed to the proper business.

I don't know how these people stay in business. If anyone ask ask me for a suggestion for a landscape service of any kind, I will NOT ever recommend Evergreen Tree...EVER.
Description of Work: Evergreen fouled this job up in every way possible. They didn't communicate with me from the start--they were supposed to be at my house to start a landscaping job on June 6th, but never called to tell me when they were coming; I had to call them to find out. And this was an omen for the way they treated me and commuincated, not with just me but with each other. When the crew didn't show up at all on the 6th, I talked with Jeff Ingmire and he had no idea that they hadn't shown up. It took several tries, with crews either not showing up or leaving and not returning, but they Kathy at Evergreen finally told me that a crew would be here at my house on Saturday, June 23rd at 8:00 am. She also told me they would not be charging me so much as a penny for this botched up mess. She also credited the $40 deposit I had paid via my Mastercard. Much to my surprise, the crew actually DID show up on time and did the job quickly and well. Today, June 26th, I checked my Mastercard account and there was a charge from Evergreen in the amount of $398.First I called Evergreen and left a message on Kathy's voice mail, informing her that my card had been charged in error and that I have NO intention of paying it. Then I called USAA to explain the situation and informed them I would not be paying that charge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the broken hedge trimmer incident: The trimmers said they'd go back to the warehouse and see if they could find another unit that worked. I gave them $10 each (the crew was 2 people) for lunch because it was nearly 2 o'clock and they hadn't eaten. They accepted my money and never came back, never called me--they disappeared and I never saw them again.

Response from Evergreen Tree Care
This member was told not to pay for the service; she experienced a scheduling issue and a hedgetrimmer that broke on site. I did not know that she had provided her credit card for payment, the office staff ran her card. She called stated that the card had been run - it immediately was credited - as I told her we would. We finished her job and at NO CHARGE to her.

This company was doing work in the neighborhood and was sent to my door by a neighbor who knew I was concerned about our ~40-foot tall evergreens. I made an appointment for an arborist to come look at my trees and give us a quote. He was very professional, looked at all the trees in our yard and recommended windsailing or thinning several of them as well as removing the branches from the tree that were hanging over the house and cabling one tree whose trunk was split about 20 feet up into two of about equal size, as well as removing the dead tree. He also pointed out an alder that was leaning against another tree so we decided to remove that one as well; he also recommended trimming the azalea that was hanging over the garage and removing low branches from several trees to open up that corner of the yard. The quote he gave me seemed reasonable so I agreed to have the work done. The crew arrived on time on the appointed day and the foreman reviewed the work to be done with me. They then went to work and finished the job in just a few hours. I also asked if they could remove a few low branches from another of our trees that were on a shared fence and they agreed for no extra cost. After the job was done the foreman reviewed the work done with me and mentioned a couple of other problems I should take care of in the near future, such as ivy growing up into the trees. He also said we should check the cabled tree in 5-10 years to make sure the tree had not grown too large for the cables. They chipped all the debris, including from a lilac that went down in the snow, and left the lawn and yard in good shape. They also removed an old loose stump and another piece of tree trunk that were left from a tree that fell several years ago. I was happy with the work they did and would use them again as well as recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Removal of one dead tree and one that was leaning badly; windsailing (thinning) tall evergreen trees near the house; trimming limbs of an evergreen that overhung our house as well as low-hanging branches on several trees; cabling a tree with double trunks; trimming an overgrown azalea bush next to the house; removal of all debris.

We recently bought a new home and needed trees cut (at least 3 feet) away from our roof. We had received a few flyers from Ever Green Tree Care so my partner called. We got a quote and discussed the necessity (home inspector's recommendation) to cut the branches back far enough from the house to stop the clogging of gutters from pine cones and needles dropping to the roof. The Arborist quoted the job verbally; when we called back to ask about the 10% off from the flyer he said that was already included in his quote. They were going to be in our area Friday (4 days later) so we needed to let them know right away. I wishwe would have gotten other bids. The team was on time and very professional. There are a few random branches that we feel should have been cut off and an entire section that grows over the roof that was missed although it is extremely high off the ground. We weren't home while the work was being done or we would have pointed out where it looked like it was missed. Otherwise, they did a great job and were extremely professional and fast! They took all branches, scrap and materials from the area when done. The yard looked great.

They are very professional, they are not just tree cutters or people who come with chain saws to hack my trees apart. I have had people like that come out too, to cut down some trees, and they did an OK job. But these people are arborists, and they belong to the International Society of Arborists. They look at a tree and if it is healthy, they recommend what I should do with the tree. I have had other people who just go ahead and cut down trees if I say so, but these people look at the health of the tree, and their primary focus is to preserve the tree if they can. If they can’t, they recommend corrective action, they are more than just Paul Bunyans. Their price seemed reasonable to me.

They brought four people with a box truck and chipper machine (which was nice). They didn't give me much notice ("we'll be at your house tomorrow"). They started trimming the cedars too low, so that privacy was compromised. But then they continued at the desired level. A neighbor complained because of debris left in his back yard. When I told the manager, he said he would show up the next day with the crew, but he never did. Also, the tree cutter began dropping heavy tree limbs on my deck until I told him to stop. Price was pretty good, though, I thought.

This is not the first time Ever-Green Tree Care Inc. has trespassed, without any attempts at communication, and caused damage on our property. They use scare tactics and high pressure scheming to frighten people into doing unnecessary tree work. They can get away with doing unauthorized work on a stranger's property. What does that tell you?
Description of Work: THIS IS A STATE WIDE COMPANY. BEWARE. Ever-Green Tree Care Inc. TRESPASSED on to our property, UNAUTHORIZED and UNANNOUNCED, on Memorial Day weekend while we were away and stripped our tree of its branches up 30 feet high. Our midsized fir tree was blocking my neighbor's view (ironically, a view of trees). The neighbor (a complete stranger) asked if he could cut just 3 branches. He promptly hired Ever-Green Tree Care Inc. against our wishes. We immediately called and left a message at Ever-Green Tree Care Inc. explicitly telling them to stay off of our property. We explained that they were being hired by a neighbor and NOT the property owner. We made it very clear that we decline to use their company and they were to cancel any work our neighbor schedules. We gave our name, phone number, and property address. We repeated this information several times and stated several times that they are to stay off of our property. We NEVER received any calls and there were NO attempts made at communication. Meanwhile, we scheduled an appointment for this upcoming week with our own arborist to assess the health of the tree. If we agreed to do this for our neighbor, we would take great care to make it look natural and be sure it was healthy for the tree and safe in terms of becoming a blow-down hazard. This negligent work was done without our written consent, blessing, knowledge or presence. It is now an eyesore and a potentially dangerous tree. Shame on you Ever-Green Tree Care Inc.

When the boss of the project came for the estimate of the cotton wood he also saw a few other areas to address. He then suggested if I would hire an entire team I could get more done for my money. As he was writing up the contract he mentioned a few other things. He said he would not write them in and his crew was so good that they would fix the issues themselves. I had problems with the team he assigned for this project. They said they would come on Monday but then called and stated that they would have to come on Tuesday because some of the equipment was broken. Some of the guys who came on Tuesday had an attitude. I felt they took their working out on me. They cut two trees into the wrong direction and the trees fell into my un-cleared land. My wife and I assessed the situation and came up with twenty different directions they could have removed the trees. They told me they had to cut it into my neighbor’s yard because of the way the tree was leaning but I know he was lying to me. We lost about three hundred dollars’ worth of logging because of their errors. I really think they could have done better. We also had issues with the contract. Nothing was addressed that I had on my contract. They were pathetically bad. I know for a fact they lied to me a few times. We originally decided I was going to use my tractor to pull some of the trees out once they were cut. It was supposed to be a team effort but no one wanted to work with me. I called the boss to have him look at the crime scene in my yard. He assessed the situation and questioned their work. He offered to have them return but I told him I did not want them on my property again and I felt they had done enough damage. They are not prompt. They told me on the day of the service they would return that following Saturday. No one ever showed or called. I would never recommend their services.

It was a large job and the crew was professional. Considering how many flowers and shrubs I have, they did a pretty good job of working around them, considering the large job and crew involved. The crewman who was to do the cabling had something come up so he wasn't able to do the cable the same day, but he came out himself the next day after work to finish up the job.
Description of Work: Normally we don't respond to people who just show up at the door, but we knew we needed service with our trees, so we decided to go ahead and make an appointment. Gary came to walk through the yard with me and he clearly has a passion for trees. He explained everything to me, including things that didn't have to do with the job (like how to prune my rhodies), so it was a learning experience. We ended up with what I thought was a decent price for a large job. We didn't have a set date for the work, but Gary got back to me within a week and the crew came out when they said they would. They windsailed 5 huge cedars (100-150 feet tall?), and removed the lower branches so we would get more sunlight in the yard. They removed three small trees, trimmed some other trees and hedges, and pruned three fruit trees. They also cabled a tree that had split into two large trunks. They chipped it all up and I had asked to keep the chips, so they deposited them neatly in our side yard on a tarp for me.

Pros: Final job appeared to be done professionally. Cleaned up the site very well. Reasonable price compared to two other bids. Licensed and Bonded. Cons: Getting a set appointment time proved to be difficult. Widely variable level of skill and customer service from crew to crew. (First crew would get a D on professionalism) Salespeople do oversell the company, "Yup we have an A rating on Angie's List". Communication can be difficult. First crew out to see the actual job left without explanation and had no knowledge of the company contract and did not care about such things as septic drain fields, fences and would not listen to females. Second crew was very professional, quick and neat. Getting a firm appointment was impossible , it's usually along the lines of "sometime Tuesday or Wednesday, maybe." Be sure to get an itemized price breakdown and be sure to show the crew that arrives exactly what you want.
Description of Work: 4 large trees "cleaned up" and 1 removed. Two bushes removed and 1 trimmed.

They were excellent; they were on time and most of all they cleaned up everything. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Evergreen Tree Care for tree service. They pruned some massively huge, 150 feet trees on my property, and cabled one maple tree. It was a large project.
