Nw Sewer & Drain

We have had several plumbing problems with our house. When a neighbor had a serious sewer back-up situation in her house due to roots growing through her sewer line, we thought it would be wise to have our line "rootered" . We bought NW Sewer & Drain's $149.00 "rooter" special. We had many questions about whether the rooter process was what we actually needed. After addressing all our questions, Spencer, the owner/operator of NW Sewer & Drain, suggested that he could swap the rooter special we had bought for a camera inspection so we could know for sure if the rooter process could handle any problems or if a more expensive, high-pressure water clean out would be needed. We agreed that sounded reasonable. He also gave us a quote of $800.00 to install the extension from the sewer line to ground level called a clean-out valve. It seemed expensive but he had to dig deeper than my husband had dug to expose the whole sewer pipe & then laid a solid bed of pea rock under the sewer pipe to stabilize it. Spencer did the camera inspection first and then had me watch as he ran the camera through the sewer line and explained what I was seeing. He said there were no blockages and was almost like a new pipe (our house is 26 years old). So that meant we didn't need a rooter procedure! He recorded the camera inspection on a DVD & gave that to me for future reference. Then he installed the clean-out valve & replaced all dirt & bark around it so it looked like it had always been there. He hosed down the whole area so it was neat as a pin. Then, to my surprise, he gave us a $150.00 discount on the clean-out valve installation because he said it hadn't been as difficult as expected! Spencer answered all our questions openly, honestly & took his time; we never felt rushed or pressured. In the end, we got the correct services for our needs. And Spencer is a really nice, down-to-earth guy! I would definitely use him again & trust his professional opinion & insight.

They were timely and came the same day I had sewage backing up into my laundry room. They inspected and confirmed a blocked drain. Cleared the tree roots from the drain and found not only was there a crack, but holes in the drain. At least the drain was clear and we could use our toilets sink and showers again. Two days later they came out and replaced the broken section of the drain. It took much longer that they anticipated, but I was only charged what the original price quoted. The drain section was in a tight area, near some concrete steps and they were able to dig out and replace the broken section without having to break up the steps. They cleaned up the area before they left.

The experience was good. The service man gave me a heads up call to tell me when he was on the way. While he was performing the inspection he explained what he was doing and what he was seeing. He was happy to answer questions, He wrote up his recommendations and provided files on a usb stick. He offered to credit a portion of the inspection towards future work if needed.

The two professionals arrived right on time and went right to work. They explained precisely what they were going to do and proceeded to do it. They seemed very knowledgeable and livery interested in me as a customer.

It was not an emergency but Spencer and his assistant came the next morning and with use of a camera determined there were no problems with the main sewer line. By removing the toilet and again using the camera, they did find a blockage. The line was cleared using Hydrojett power washing. It solved the problem and work was done very quickly (and very neatly.) I appreciated the quick service and the fact that Spencer explained clearly what was happening.

Anyway, these guys showed up in a few hours, cleaned out the line to the main, explained everything they were doing, showed me the camera that they had snaked through the line, did not try to sell me additional products I did not need, and charged what I thought to be a very fair price.

He was really good about letting me know what the problem was and that I didn't need to get my sewer re-lined. Even though he wasn't able to fix it he took the time to exlain things to me. Another company was just going to line it which would have caused several problems for me. He went above and beyond making sure that I could get things fixed. He spent a half hour of his own time and didn't charge a dime.

I highly recommend NW Sewer & Drain. We had a sewer back-up and called one of the big name places for emergency service not knowing any better. I wont go into the mess they caused, but I will tell you that NW Sewer & Drain is one of the companies I got quotes from to complete the cleaning of our sewer pipes and to do trenchless re-lining. They had a great price, they were very professional, but also very fun and friendly. They were very upfront, told us exactly what they were going to do, kept us updated during the process, did what they said, were quick, and the results are perfect! They even let us watch and see how the process is done which was really cool and interesting. I appreciate how quickly they were able to take care of us and how easy they were to work with. We ended up not being able to be home on the day they completed the work, but they said no problem. They would just send someone by to bill us another time. They were busy so it was about a week before they made it back even though they needed to collect money from me. It was such a pleasant experience working with someone who's main concern was getting the job done and making things easy on us instead of just on getting paid. I will definitely use them again in the future if needed, however it won't be for the sewer since that is now beautiful and new:)

Spencer and his partner arrived on time and got set up in quick order. After inspecting the area they spent some time looking for an external cleanout, which I appreciated. When they couldn't find one they decided that it would be better to cancel this appointment and have an external cleanout installed; i was okay with this option but only if they could get it done the same day. They admitted that they couldn't have it done same day and agreed to go ahead and try the internal access point to get to the rootball that they verified was there via camera. Unfortunately, using the internal access point meant that they couldn't get the entire sewage pipe cleaned out, only the 125', which was the length of their smaller hose. I agreed to this and they performed the work as agreed upon. Both techs were very polite, professional, and did a good job. They were very communicative and kept me informed of status throughout the time they were there to work on the pipe. After the service was completed they did a good job of cleaning up the area. I would use this company again in the future.

Showed up on time and walked me through the procedure. Allowed me to observe the video feed of the sewer line and watched as the cleaning was done. Made recommendations on needed maintenance. I found it to be friendly and professional.

Went well. Solved our problem by finding the cause.

The sewer was backing up into basement shower at my mother-in-laws house on Beacon Hill. It was built in the 1940's so this kind of thing is not unexpected. We had it "roto-rootered" in December but the problem came back in March, indicating it was more that a clogged line. I got bids from three contractors. Two of them wanted $1,500 to do some excavation with additional, unspecified charges based on what they uncovered. Too open-ended for me. NW Sewer and Drain gave me a firm price for the entire job, with two options based on how much of the pipe I wanted to have lined with their epoxy liner process (they actually ended up recommending the lower cost option as they got further into it). They gave me a schedule for each phase and that's exactly how it played out. Everyone associated with the repair was polite, knowledgeable (I asked a lot of questions), on time, and minimized the impact to the house and plants. To show how involved Spencer is, I called on a Sunday evening to make sure they planned to do a utility locate (they did), expecting to leave a message. Instead, Spencer answered the phone. That's commitment and customer service. In summary, the job was done well, on time, on budget and entirely to my satisfaction. NWS&D is a great company and gets my strong recommendation

Spencer was great. We had a situation where the laundry room toilet in the basement was backing up, and we were heading out on vacation in two days. Spencer was able to come out within 12 hours notice and take at a look at what was going on. Honesty and professionalism is what stood out for me with this service. After taking a quick look at the situation, Spencer was able to give me advice that allowed me to fix the issue myself in the short term, and then do the proper research to get it fixed right after I returned from vacation. I have a septic system and am not connected to the city sewer system which is what NW Sewer and Drain specializes in. I will be using NW Sewer and Drain again if the need arises.

We called Spencer in a bit of a panic one evening and after we talked for a while, he suggested that we would save a fair amount of money if we waited until the next day. He arrived first thing in the morning, unplugged our drain and replaced a short section of external pipe that was clogged with roots. Very happy with his promptness and overall professionalism. We have more (non emergency - hopefully) work coming up and will definitely use him again.

They were efficient, with good follow-up, and always on time. I especially appreciated the lead Eric who handled the bulk of the heavy work, the interface with the city inspectors, and the replacement of sod, top soil and grass seed where needed. He and his supervisors reassured me that their main purpose was to keep me happy with the outcome, and they succeeded.

A sink on my basement started backing up. After cleaning the drain myself (that was not what caused the backup), I had my regular plumber trying to unclog the sewer line with a cable snake. He determined that the problem is a broken section of the sewer line about 20 feet into the pipe, the snake end came back with sand and soil. He recommended to get a camera inspection done to assess the situation and locate the clog. This was beyond his capabilities and tools. This is where I found NW Sewer and Drain from the Angie's list. I called the company on Saturday morning expecting to leave a message and hear back from them on Monday. To my surprise, Spencer returned my call 10 minutes later, and showed up at my house 1.5 hours after returning my call! He had state of the art camera inspection and locating tools with him, and in 20 minutes was able to pinpoint the clog, and recommend next steps. He was happy to do the repair work, but since the repair requires opening up the basement floor and slab, he gave some advice how I could tackle the labor intensive part (opening up the concrete slab to expose the sewer line) myself to save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in cost. I was impressed on Spencer's professionalism and service friendliness, he was all about doing the right thing while trying to save money for the homeowner. Once I have the floor open, I will definitely have him back to fix the broken section of the pipe and I can recommend him to all Angie's listers.

This review may not seem fair but here are the facts. I have a three story house with 3 bathrooms in one stack and a 4th bathroom in another location on the third floor. The odd bathroom was backing up in the tub when I took a long shower. The other three bathrooms worked fine and did not back up regardless of the amount of water used. I incorrectly believed that all waste exited my house at one location and that the blockage was in the vertical stack leading down from the 3rd floor. I had called the company asking for someone to come and snake the plugged drain. The company dispatched two people. I wondered why there were two people and they just dodged the question. I explained the situation. There is an outside clean out on the single stack. When we flushed a toilet in the three bathroom stack, no water came past the clean out. This proved those bathrooms went to the sewer independent of the other bathroom. When we flushed the toilet in the single stack water came out the clean out demonstrating the blockage is not in the vertical drain; rather it is outside in the horizontal drain relatively near the clean out. The workers confirmed what we had observed; they obtained a sewer drawing from county records on an iPhone that showed my three bathroom stack entered the outside sewer downstream from the single bathroom. Without going into detail, the two workers were consistently quarrelsome with respect to my assessment of the problem and the performance of a prior company which had previously cleaned out this sewer. I asked again why they had sent two people and one man said "I am a Mexican and I don't count". I asked them to please clean out the sewer. They went out to their truck and shortly after the other worker showed up with a work order and asked me to sign a three hundred dollar contract to clean out the sewer. The two had been at my house less than 15 minutes total and all I needed was to clean out a short run of side sewer. They had been unprofessional and quarrelsome during their entire visit. So, I asked them to bill me for their time and to leave. I said I would not sign their $300 work order. They choose to leave and accept no payment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend hiring this company.

Fantastic. Resolution time 1 hr 30mins - after hours! 7:00pm: We came home to a bathtub full of $!@# (blocked side sewer). 8:00: Called NW Sewer expecting voicemail, but Spencer answers! 8:05: Doug calls me back & says they can come tonight! 8:30: Doug & Sam onsite 30mins later. Get their cable out & start working on cutting through the blockage & roots. 9:30: SUCCESS! Blockage cleared & line fully inspected by camera. 9:45pm: Happily wrote a check & sent them home :) Doug & Sam were great. Very competent & explained options clearly. Their first priority was helping us get our emergency resolved. NW Sewer charged a fair price & offered a good price on fixing the root cause. I'm sure you can find cheaper, but personally I always avoid the lowest bids. I plan to have them come back with their high pressure jetter/cutter to clear the mess of the roots we discovered with the camera after clearing the initial blockage.

They did a good job and they were knowledgeable. I would probably use them again in the future if I need to.

This was an amazing customer experience. One of best I've had in my 35 years as a homeowner and landlord. My drain clogged completely in the middle of the snowstorm at 10:00pm on Sat night. I called my regular plumber, but they don't pickup on weekends. So I turned to Angieslist and began calling around. After three unsuccessful attempts to arrange a plumber to come out on Sunday, I called Spencer at NW Sewer and Drain. Despite the snow and ice on the roads, Spencer and a helper were onsite 12 hours later and went to work. After the pipes were cleared, Spencer, using a camera with a very clear image, showed me foot by foot where the trouble spots were in the pipes. I could see where he had shaved down the root growth in several spots and cleared the clogs. The work was excellent and Spencer gave me detailed options/solutions to fix the damage done to the pipes from aging and root growth. He and his helper did a great job cleaning up afterwards. I recommend this company highly. They are responsive to a customer's needs and perform excellent work at a very reasonable price. I plan to use them again to permanently fix my 50 year old main sewer drain. When plumbing problems arise in the future at my rental properties, I will also use NW Sewer and Drain and recommend them to my friends.

Spencer was great and very knowledgable. We had an odd situation with our yard in that we didn't know what drainage went where. After calling a rooter/scope company and getting a very high bid for coming out and trying to diagnose the problem, I called Spencer and he was very helpful and positive. We used the Angie's List deal for a $99 scope. He got the job done, was very informative and a nice guy.

I called in a crisis with sewage backing up in my basement on a very rainy Saturday. Spencer was already booked but referred me to a friend. He called the friend and checked on availability, then called me back. When the friend had the wrong number to contact me, he called me again and gave me the other plumber's number. He made three phone calls, taking ime away from his jobs on a busy day, all to make sure my problem was taken care of. This is A+ service from someone who has not (yet) earned a dime from me. I've asked him to bid re-doing my side sewer as a result.

Spencer did a very good job in a difficult situation.
