YANES LANDSCAPING SERVICE

The area looked very clean when they were finished, and they were even able to replant some of our neighbor's plants, which our neighbors had said would be okay to remove if necessary. Most importantly, the bamboo has not grown back yet (5 months later), and if it does, I feel like I could dig it up relatively easily. From initial contact to action, everything went very smoothly.

Jose promptly responded to my request for a consultation and was able to meet me at my house two days later. His crew came the next week to clean up the yard of my rental property. Two crews came in one day: one to trim and prune the trees and shrubs, the other to shape the bushes, weed the beds, and add bark. They did a good job, knew how much to cut back the bushes to allow healthy growth in the spring, and made the property look really beautiful.

I was shocked when I came home at how good it all looked. I had just contracted for the removal of the sticks and the stumps. Jose had mentioned that he would rake too but I didn't realize that it meant he would rake everywhere. My driveway is clean. My porch is clean. He even brought over a huge load of extra dirt. I am so very impressed (and grateful. I had no idea how I was going to get rid of that huge pile of cut grapevines and sticks). Thank you so much!

The guys showed up early on a near freezing morning and were hard at it for hours. There was no slack in their work ethic. I bought them coffee at Starbucks, but had to re-heat one cup because the fellow was too busy to drink it before it went cold. I won't hesitate to have these guys back.

Yanes was quick to answer my call, came out same day to provide a bid, and his crew was out the next day to complete my project. They did a great job and were very friendly. I recommend Yanes and will use them again next year!

Jose left after getting his crew of four guys started. His crew did an excellent job on the beds, lawn, and small bushes (see pictures). They also did a nice job pruning the trees... but only up to ~8ft high (see pictures). That was as far as they could reach. They didn't speak much English (Jose's English is fine), and left after around 4-5 hours. That was on Friday. I called Jose today to ask if they guys were coming back to finish pruning the trees, since they look terrible with the bottom half trimmed and the top half wild--they looked better when the whole thing was wild. Jose said that they're done, and that they don't go above 8ft for a clean up job. I've spent less money before having a yard clean up that did include pruning the full height of the trees, so I was really surprised by this. Especially since Jose didn't mention anything about only pruning 8ft high when he came to give me a quote. I would have gone with a competitor had I known I'd have to have somebody else out to prune the top half of my trees (who wants just the bottom half trimmed?!). Jose says they may be able to do something about some of the trees on their first maintenance visit... I'll update my review based on how that goes. For now, I'm very pleased with what they did, and very displeased with what they didn't do.

Jose was uber professional, and quick to call back if he cannot answer the phone right away. He came the very next day for an estimate, and was able to make a deadline that was rapidly approaching. His crew was prompt, courteous, and hard working. I would highly recommend Jose and Yanes Landscaping. NOTE: This was for services originally done 4-5 weeks ago. I called Jose yesterday to get a bid on prepping/graveling the side yard and he came out that same day. Really good guy, with a great crew. I only wish he could do all the projects around my house/yard!

Jose and his crew put in a couple of days work clearing and shaping and made huge improvements in my overgrown yard. They showed up on-time, worked hard and went the extra mile to provide the excellent service. Jose took a bee-sting under his eye, sorry about that. My neighbor asked me about the crew and I referred Yane's to him -- without a doubt!

Mowing, trimming, pruning. Pulling out old weedy plants and clearing dirt so I could plant new plants. Brought and laid out dirt, left a couple of piles of bark for me to use for mulch after. I did need to follow up with Jose to schedule work after he gave estimate. Jose seems to still be very busy now, which sort of surprised me. I thought would be less busy with summer over. It was a different crew than before but same good work. Not sure if price should be A or B for rating. I haven't gotten prices from that many others. Prices were definitely fair but don't know if it was excellent.

Jose and crew did an exceptional job. No overthinking just no nonsense, experienced help to give our front yard curb appeal. We will most definitely use Yanes Landscaping in the future and for regular maintainence.

Jose was called me back within minutes of leaving a message about possible work, and was able to come the day after I spoke with him to help me with the hauling project. After I spoke with him about the rest of the yardwork, I said anytime within the month would be fine for completion but he arrived within a few days with a team and completed the whole massive job within one day. I was very impressed by his professionalism, courtesy and good work. I'd use him again (especially for the tree trimming- he was very sensitive about some challenging neighbor yard boundary challenges).

This is our second time using Yanes Landscaping. Our front lawn was a mess - lawn was more moss and weeds than actual grass, plus we had two huge stumps drilled out in the center (Doug Fir and Wisteria). I texted Jose and he came out a few days later to give me an estimate. We walked the yard together and talked about what we wanted (the far end of the yard would be left alone for a garden area), and as always, he offered suggestions. We had already removed three old rhodies, but still had another plus a juniper bush we were going to remove prior to new sod being laid, but he said not to worry about it, his guys would take care of it. Also, he said if I wanted, before the new sod was laid, they could install drain pipes (hoses) to two of our gutter spouts so that the water went under ground and away from the house and septic - great idea! He and three of his guys showed up a few days later, and we walked the yard again so he could make sure they knew exactly what we wanted done. His guys are amazingly hard workers. Three of them removed the rhodie and juniper, moved the dirt we had piled up on a tarp and the tree dust from being drilled out, and removed all the old sod - that was just the first day!! They returned the following morning and smoothed and leveled, brought in new top soil, smoothed and leveled some more, then laid the new sod. Our new front lawn is beautiful!! They also weeded the two flower beds in front, just because they were there. So sweet. They always clean up after themselves, and are just so hardworking - it's great. I have recommended Jose to neighbors, my contractor, and will continue to refer folks to him because he's just so wonderful to work with. His prices are very reasonable also - thank you, Jose!!

They were reliable, very nice, and they did good work for us at a good price.

I would highly recommend Jose from Yanes Landscaping and plan on using him for any future landscaping projects. He and his crew removed our old, weed-infested grass and installed new sod in our front yard. They removed shrubs from our front porch area that had overgrown, trimmed trees, and edged a small portion of our existing lawn that we kept. They even added bark to a few areas to make it look more "finished," which was above and beyond what we were expecting. Jose was super easy to work with and very professional and responsive. We got 3 quotes before hiring him, and he was by far the most economical for what we had done. He returned calls promptly and showed up when he said he was going to show up. We recommend him and will definitely use him again!

I moved into a newly remodeled house in Fremont last year. The yard had been neglected for years, and overburden from an extension to the house was piled up on in the back yard. The extra dirt was about a dump truck load full. Additionally the backyard is sloped uphill away from the house and was fairly steep. I had bids from various contractors that ranged from 40K to what I wound up paying with Jose. Jose was really nice, listened, had good ideas and was very good on price. I felt like I found someone who was going to do a great job at an affordable price. Turned out to be right. Jose walked my property gave me some ideas about retaining walls (that I wound up taking) and also provided a really reasonable bid for the work. He was a couple weeks out on work when I talked with him. His crew showed up when they were supposed to, and went straight away to work. And boy do those guys work hard. They were able to remove yards of dirt by hand in what seems like a moments notice. The first job was to clean the yard, which took the crew a day. The second day was removal of dirt and the beginning of wall construction. The third day was finishing the wall, installing the sod, topsoil and bark. I subsequently had Jose back for what turned out to be another couple retaining walls which added about another 1.5 days to the overall. Very happy with how this experience went for me and will look to Jose going further for my landscaping needs.

Fine, but the mulch did not look as we expected. The are fixing it every time they come to do maintenance.

I was pleased. Jose came out the same day I called to give an estimate. We scheduled a date about 2 weeks out. I was not home when his crew came, (the day they said they would) but they were just finishing when I came back. It looked great. At one point early on, Jose called and asked for clarification about how much and which trees to trim. This seemed like an extra effort and was much appreciated. I thought the price was very appropriate to the amount of work done. I plan to use Yanes Landscaping for my ongoing maintenance.

The team worked about 2.5 days. This included leveling the site and spreading new topsoil. I had an old pond 4X4 concrete pond removed and hauled away. I met with a few contractors prior to choosing Yanes. Jose clearly was experienced and knew what he was doing.

The crew did a great job. They did weeding, trimming, and the moving of 2 huge plants. They mowed and trimmed the grass. They then installed some top soil in the back yard and covered all planted areas with bark. It took them about a day and a half to complete everything.

Based on reviews on Angie's List we requested to have Yanes come out to our home to give us a bid/quote for landscaping work. Oliver was persistant in his follow up as we were difficult to reach. We did make contact with him and an appointment was established. He was prompt and courteous. We walked the yard and discussed all of the work we wanted done. He gave us a verbal quote. We did not receive a written quote or bid. When we informed Oliver that the reason we contacted Yanes was because of Angie's List he got a worried look on his face and told us that he was NOT part of Yanes. Jose, who owns Yanes, gave our number to Oliver to contact as he (Jose) had too much work to do. It seems that Jose and Oliver are cousins and Oliver used to work with/for Jose before going out on his own. We were deceived from the beginning and only discovered the deception by accident. This is not how a reputable company operates!!!!

Everything has gone smoothly since we started having Jose's team work on our yard. We are very satisfied with their quality of work. He has always been accessible by phone/text messaging.

Because of the ratings exhibited here on Angie's List Yanes Landscaping Service was contacted. We left a message to call us to arrange for a visit to give us a bid for the work we wanted done. We were quite impressed with the persistence of "Oliver". We are not the easiest people to contact, but he was persistent. Contact was made and an appointment established. He showed up on time and reviewed with us the work we wanted to have completed. He gave us a "verbal quote". (never did get a written quote/bid nor was one offered) He was very nice and polite and we were going to proceed to have him do the work. Just before he left we informed Oliver that the contact we made with him was a result of Angie's List. He paused with kind of funny look on his face----then informed us that he was NOT with Yanes!!!! Yanes is owned and operated by his cousin(Jose) who told him to call us..... Obviously, Yanes has too much business. Oliver used to work for his cousin at Yanes but split off and went out on his own. We did not have the work completed by Oliver as we felt we had been deceived as we were expecting to have Yanes (an up till now well reviewed provider) do the work.
