TED'S CHIMNEY SERVICE

Ted did great work rebuilding the top section of our chimney. He coordinated with our roofing company to ensure the masonry was flashed/counterflashed appropriately for the wet exposure we get. He was available and responsive every time I called. Now the chimney looks as good as it did when the house was built-- truly a professional job. I highly recommend going with Ted's Chimney Service if you have an old house like mine with a chimney that needs to be refreshed to be on a regular maintenance schedule.

Ted came by and gave me a estimate which sounded reasonable compared to the other estimates I received. Ted removed and hauled away the old flashing and mortar. It took about a week and a half from estimate to sealing to complete the job. When he finished the job the area was neat and cleaned. Ted was very professional and went above and beyond of what I expected to be done. After paying the bill Ted asked me how I found him and I told him Angie's list he said I had a 5% discount coming and gave me back $60.00.

Water was leaking into my house from the chimney area, and it needed to be fixed before autumn. Ted and associates completed this project in a timely way during difficult, hot weather. He worked independently yet was responsive to my inquiries by both phone and email. I hired Ted partly based on his Angie's reviews, which are accurate. His was the only bid I needed and got: he was available, reasonably priced, and experienced, which are the three criteria I had.

Ted showed up and evluated job. Provided a quote on the spot. He indicated he would be out in a couple of weeks provided weather was good to do the job. They came out as discussed and did some work. They did not complete the job the first day. They came out again a couple of weeks later and finished the work. Overall I am happy they did the job and did what they said they were going to do.

I called Ted per recommendation of Angie's List. He said we would stop by in the next week to see what needed to be done and call me with a quote. He called back 10 day's later and told me what he found and gave me a quote. I accepted the quote and Ted said he would get to work. The next week he showed up and started flashing the chimney. A week later he replace the surface mortar and installed a drip edge with a new cap. He waited a week for that to dry well before applying a sealant on top of that to finish the job. The job took about 3 weeks but will last for another 50 years.

Before I had Ted redo my chimney I had tried unsuccessfully three separate times with three different contractors to stop the chimney from leaking down inside my house and getting the ceiling sheet rock at one end wet. I would think I had it fixed then a heavy rain and same old problem and back on would go the tarp. Well I was going to get a new roof put on my house and wanted to get this chimney problem solved once and for all. So I started my search on Angieslist contacting the different masons when I came across Teds Chimney Service and I'm so glad I did. His webpage said that he had been doing this work for a long time 30 years I believe and that fixing leaks was his specialty. I called and talked to Ted and just from talking to him I felt he was the right man for the job. He rebuilt the crown and installed a drip pan at the base and then seal coated the crown. He also sealed all the brick and installed stainless steel flue covers. My chimney is beautiful and looking at it up close you can see the wonderful craftsmanship. I've had many compliments on my chimney from neighbors as well as the contractors that reroofed my house and I've recommended his service to others with chimney problems I'm so thankful that I came across Teds Chimney Service because I finally have a chimney that's beautiful and most of all.... doesn't leak. We installed a new roof and our chimney required new counter flashing. Our chimney is not a traditional red brick chimney. Ted needed to order wider flashing. Once Ted had the flashing him and his crew took two days to complete the flashing. He also installed a new vent cap.

Ted is knowledgeable and personable. Gets the job done, took a while though since he had to work around the weather in order to completed the sealing on the chimney.

Hire these folks if you have ANY problems with your chimney. Ted is personable, professional, and extremely conscientious about making sure the job is done right. On what was supposed to be a visit just to give an estimate, Ted spent almost 2 hours on our roof with a hose to try to recreate the leak and figure out exactly what was going on to make sure the problem was something he could fix rather than an issue with our metal roof. It turned out that the leak wasn't the flashing, but was seeping through areas inside the chimney where the mortar had been crumbling and a chimney cap that was not properly installed. Additionally, a previous homeowner's repair/waterproofing had failed. Ted gave us the estimate and we had him start work the next week. He spent 2 days on the roof repairing and repointing all of the masonry from the roof up and returned twice after that to waterproof, install a new chimney cap, and double-check that the repairs were accurate after heavy rain. We've not had a drop of water since he was here, even in last week's torrential downpour. Our dealings with Ted are how we wish ALL contractor dealings went!

Look no further Ted and his crew are professionals and repaired my 2 chimneys to full satisifaction. We dealt with extreme weather conditions and project was delayed but Ted was always in direct communication and when condition were safe him and his crew back on the roof. He knows how to fix, repair and was very considerate to our budget. Plus he is just a great person and was a joy to work with and they left no material or clean up for us to do later.

Super job. Also price is reasonable. Ted even deducted 5% for Angie's List members. Ted and his two workers worked for 2 days. They worked hard. After they finished the job they cleaned the roof and walk way well too.

Our nearly 50-yr.-old chimney looks like new. Ted and his crew did a super job and were most pleasant and professional. They completed the job in a timely manner, as weather allowed. They were especially neat and highly adept at working on our metal roof - keeping themselves safe and being exceedingly careful not to damage the roof. They reconfigured the chimney cap so that rain water will not run down the front side of the chimney as it did with the original design. As they finished up their work, Ted noticed a problem spot in our roof gutter and worked to improve it . . . service above and beyond his call of duty. We would definitely hire Ted's Chimney Service again, although we think they did such a good job, we most likely won't need them in the foreseeable future.

I found his prices to be very reasonable and competitive. His work was excellent. He did what he said he would do when he said he would do it in every case and did not expect payment until he had fulfilled every promise. Very professional looking jobs, in one case even having to match mortar color with existing structure.

Ted came out to the house and gave us an estimate that was very reasonable. He was very courteous and responsive. He came back about a week later to do the work and he and his crew worked very diligently and got the work done in less than a day. They did a nice job and our chimney looks like new. We would definitely use Ted again and would recommend him to everyone.

I contacted many Chimney repair companies listed on Angies List. Most of them wouldn't even come out to give me a quote, I had to email them a picture of my chimney. After looking at the picture, they all told me the chimney would have to be torn down and replaced at a cost of $8,000 - $10,000 ! When I called Ted, he came right out to look at it before making any determination. He examined everything very closely and offered to patch it up. He was prompt, professional, cleaned up everything just like new, and the chimney looks great! He spent two days here working on it and did a wonderful job. All for around $600.00. I was thrilled that I was able to find someone to repair it.

All went well. Very nice crew and Ted explained everything well to us. They even found a large bees nest in the flashing and took care of it for us! They left a very clean work area. We are very happy with everything they did and thought the price was very fair.

It took 3 visits to finish all the work. very labor intensive. I was pleased with all aspects of the job. 1. very professional crew, led by Ted the company owner. 2. explained to me all the steps needed 3. worked hard, never any slacking off or loud music. 4. cleaned up the entire site perfectly 5. twice I went up on the roof and had them show me what they were doing. 6. made the price estimate and kept to the amount. Not complaints or disappointments at all. I was completely satisfied. .

Ted was prompt and pleasant. He did the first part of the work by fixing the morter that was pretty much falling out, put a new chimney cap on, replaced the flashing and then came back a few days later to seal the chimney. He was pleasant and respectful and finished the job entirely within a week's time. Excellent job and he told us if there were any problems, he wanted to hear from us and would be back to fix any problems. We felt he did a great job and would recommend him.

Excellent. I needed the work done on a rental property in a hurry. Ted understood exactly what the issue was and turned up within a few hours and fixed the problem that day at a reasonable price. Outstanding service!! Five stars!

Ted's was respectful, professional, honest, friendly and courteous from start to finish. Ted was able to swing by and provide an estimate within a reasonable amount of time after we called - within one week. He is kind of man that conveys his honesty and integrity with his demeanor and a handshake. After making the decision to go with Ted's, we were able to schedule an appointment and the new chimney was completed within two weeks after receiving the estimate. Ted's team worked efficiently and left the work area clean and tidy when they were finished. Ted and his crew clearly have pride in workmanship, which is sometimes hard to come by these days. They even added a nice finishing touch at the top that was/is absent from the original (and rebuilt) chimneys in the neighborhood. The bill was what was expected with no surprises. We usually like to wait a little while before providing reviews to see how things hold up and are happy to say that we are extremely pleased with the job. Ted did a superb job on our chimneys....and made them both look like new...with an additional drip edge to keep rain from flowing down the side of the chimneys. He pressure washed them and did repairs in a timely manner.....he was methodical and very particular about his work....and is a very nice man to deal with. I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to repair their chimney masonry. Reasonable price...kept right to the quote. He even called to tell me that he had forgotten to subtract the 5% Angie's List discount....and told me to deduct that amount when writing the check...and offered to refund me that discount if I had already mailed the check! Ted came to the house and showed me what he does regarding removing the old crumbling crown, the metal flashing below that to divert the water from the bricks, sealer coat over the top of the crown and also a breathable sealer on the chimney itself. Our old crown was crumbling as are most in our neighborhood where the chimneys were put in the 1950's and something needed to be done before further damage to the chimney took place. He scheduled for a few weeks down the road which was fine because it was summer and dry. On Sept 11 he came with an assistant and did all the tasks. We feel great about it and it also looks much nicer from the street as well. We couldn't be happier.
