Description of Work: Sunergy installed 18 solar panels on the roof of our house. The options and benefits of our choices (# of panels, sun exposure, etc.) were clearly explained. Sunergy handled all the permitting and set up our program with Puget Sound Energy. The workers were all friendly and very professional in their work. I recommend this business with confidence that they will do a great job.

Sunergy did an initial estimate of how good a candidate my residence was for solar power, made some initial estimates of cost and how fast it would pay back, schedule, and what to expect. After deciding I wanted to pursue it, they came back with different types of panels I might want to use, what they would each cost, and how quickly each would provide payback for the initial investment. Then they did a follow-on assessment in more detail, provided me an updated set of estimates on the system performance, and set a schedule. There was a bit of unexpected delay in the installation, as the inverter used for the system I had chosen was in high demand and low supply, but we did work out a schedule, and a team of three came out and did the installation. It took only three days or so for the whole installation job, and it did not interfere with what I was doing at all. This also followed a bit of paperwork turbulence with the town, as we have municipal power, and I am apparently the first resident here who has gone solar. The town now says that the original paperwork we did was not the right paperwork (town gave us the wrong paperwork), and Sunergy is now working with the town and me to get it all done. The installation is nearly invisible from the street and looks good even if you get to an angle where the panels are visible. Sunergy does all the paperwork and technical discussions with the local government, making the job of the customer as painless as possible. Their operation is professional, experienced, and extremely customer-oriented. I am very pleased.
Description of Work: Provided free assessment for applicability, expected cost benefit, equipment options with respective prices, and services they would provide.

Response from Sunergy Systems
Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback (member name removed), it is always helpful for other potential solar customers to see testimonials. We are glad you are happy with your whole experience with Sunergy Systems. As for the paperwork, this is a young industry and the utilities are still working out the kinks in their process. We will follow up with your individual utility and make sure they have everything they need to get your system fully registered so that you can reap those incentives!

The installation crew did an excellent, neat job. Two connect the two arrays (one on south roof, one on west) they had to be connect with a conduit. They minimized the appearance of this by painting it flat black and tucking it behind the chimney. You never even notice it from the front of the house. Then, in order to connect to the meters, I wanted the wiring in the attic. This wasn't so easy since it's hard to crawl around the attic and we have scissor trusses which means it's not even flat in the attic. Initially the electrician (Tim) said he would see if it was possible, but that he wasn't sure. Once we thought about it for a while, we thought it would have a better appearance, so he said "let's do it." He was able to do this and it wasn't any additional cost, which I appreciated. The crew also painted the mounting brackets flat black, so they totally disappear into the roof. Much better than the silver look. The installation of the inverters and panel hookups was also very neatly done.
Description of Work: Installation of two residential solar arrays, 7.2kWh total, one on west part of roof, one on south, plus hookup of all wiring, inverters, and the production meter. An opening in the install schedule was available about 2-3 weeks earlier than I expected, and they offered it to me, and the whole job finished ahead of time. I am very satisfied. The installation took 3-4 days, and they gave me updates at the end of each day, locked up, and answered all questions I had each morning. Plus they really listened to several ideas I had for installation.

Everything went smoothly. They kept their appointments, worked quickly and efficiently, didn't trash my house, and cleaned up after themselves.
Description of Work: Sunergy planned and installed photovoltaic panels and power inverters to connect it all to the electric panel in my house and to the city power grid. Every member of their crew was knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy. The office staff was supportive and helpful. The system looks great and is working well. The original inverter were manufactured out of state. As soon as the anticipated in state models were available the old ones were replaced, the entire process was seamless to me. Sunergy also helped me understand and properly file all the concomitant applications and correspondance with our electric utility. All around they are a class act.

We initially contacted Sunergy late last year (2011) for a quote. Sunergy provided a detailed quote with several options. They explained the benefits and drawbacks of each and showed estimated savings and timelines for recouping your investment. Once we signed the contracts, Sunergy took care of all paperwork for permitting and state incentives for solar. We had to wait a few months as the panels were backordered, though we were kept apprised of the status throughout. A bit before the panels came in, they did as much pre-installation work as possible. Once the panels came in, installation took only a couple days. The system passed inspection no-problem, and we were up and running with our installation. I don't believe Sunergy is necessarily the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for. In all, we were extremely happy throughout the process and are now considering adding a solar hot water system as well.

We approached Sunergy Systems and a few other local contractors about installing a photovoltaic system on our new home. Not only was Sunergy the most prompt in their reply but they were the most innovative in that they offered us three solid options and took the time to explain the merits and drawbacks of each system. They didn't just push the most expensive system nor did they just give us a one-size-fits-all option. We ended up choosing a high efficiency PV array by SunPower with a total capacity of 5.7 kW. The system has since been installed and is both attractive and functional. Coming into summer we're seeing peek outputs as high as 5.4 kW which is above the estimates they provided us up front (there are expected efficiency losses through the wiring, inverter and other areas). Since installation they have continued to be very responsive to our questions about the system's performance and characteristics. The only problem we had with the installation was that we were originally quoted an installation date in November but shortly before installation they informed us that the panels they thought they were receiving were instead allocated to a different company and so they had to delay our installation until they could procure the necessary panels. This was frustrating but I understand that a company can only do so much when they are reliant on a supplier to obtain components. They were very communicative during the delay and did their best to make sure that we were installed as soon as the panels arrived.
Description of Work: We had a 5.7 kW Sunpower photovoltaic solar array and inverter with in-home monitoring installed on our home. Sunergy supplied and installed the panels and performed all the necessary integration with our existing electrical system, filled out the necessary permits with the city and filed the necessary grid tie-in paperwork.

The whole crew at Sunergy Systems were friendly, professional and answered all of our questions and concerns with courtesy and timeliness.

My mother was immediately impressed with how informative and knowledgable Aimee was about the products available. But what impressed me the most was her honesty! She was upfront with pointing out that one system would be more beneficial to consider than the combination of some others we were considering even though there was a substaintial difference in price and therefore her commission. I truly value a saleswoman who is looking at the long term interest of her clients! I will recommend her tirelessly to anyone considering solar and even those who aren't aware that it can be an economical (as well as environmental) alternative to the standard installation.

This all went extremely well. From the first contact and meeting with the sales rep to the final meeting and payment it was all done very professionally and all our questions and concerns were taken into account and dealt with promptly. Once the initial bidding and planning was completed and the contract signed, the Sunergy people coordianted all the installation of the roof hardware with the roofers. It was an amazing production with the roofers dropping off a dumpster on Friday, and both roofers and Sunergy showing up on Monday to do the work in concert. Sunergy had to put on the anchors into the rafters between tear off of old roof and installation of new materials - which went off without a hitch or any lost time by anyone I could see working on the roof that day. Once the roofers were finished with putting on the shingles around the anchors for the panels, Sunergy came back to do the panel and electrical installation. Again, it all went very well. All the Sunergy team members are professional and thorough. There was one confusion with the final electrical permit, but this was also taken care of right away.
Description of Work: Installed solar panel system on our roof that included coordinating work with the roofers who were tearing off the old roof and putting on a new one. The electrical work included installation of the inverter, the link into the house electrical panel, and installing the new meter.

We had a home built with an orientation to take advantage of solar power when it became cost effective. We've been checking off an on over the years and decided to do it again last August. We researched several companies online and spoke to several by phone. We met with a representative of Sunergy. He was very willing to work up several different proposals of different sizes and walked us through the systems' pros and cons. We were shown the qualifications and degrees of the various employees and went with Sunergy. They came and designed the system to give an esthetic look to our roof, working around two solar tubes and moving some vent pipes so the array would be even. The day that installation was started, they arrived on time and were very professional. Their electrician and crew did have to have access to the interior and were clean and tidy. A gutter was dented when some wind caused a ladder to move but they're making good on its replacement, pointing this out to us before we even noticed the dent. I had seeded an area of lawn and they were good enough to walk around this so the grass is now growing there. All in all it was a wonderful experience. We look forward to working with them in the future as our system is online.
Description of Work: They designed and installed 48 solar panels, covering over 600 sq. feet on the back of our home for a 10.1kW system. They explained all the rebate programs available at this time and completely handled all paperwork associated with this. They consulted with us about making modifications as they came up, installed an electrical sytem to interconnect with the house and Puget Power. For this large job they were finished in 5 days.

The process from start to finish was fantastic! At every step of the journey, the services that Sunergy Systems provided were highly professional, educational and fun. They always had a respectful and open ear when it came to listening to what our needs were. They were always very honest regarding the costs and worked within our budget in a very cooperative way. The most impressive thing of all, they did the upfront research as far as how the numbers worked with our home and lifestyle. They gave us the true and full cost benefits before we signed any agreement, giving us a clear and easy direction in which to choose. The team that installed the system were highly professional, organized, on-time and a blast to be with. There is no mistake, they love what they do.

Our experience with Sunergy was 100% positive! We got estimates from 4 different companies, since solar is a pretty big investment. Sunergy was in the middle of the pack as far as price quote, but we were won over by their combined years of installation experience and professionalism. The crew arrived on time and worked together like a family; it is obvious they all like their jobs and each other. Anytime we had the slightest question about anything, it was answered immediately. The office took care of all the paperwork, which is immense in this case. All we had to do was sign the paperwork and everything was filed for us, including the federal rebate, state rebate, and local utility requirements. On-site, the crew kept everything clean and didn't leave a single thing out of place. It was amazing. The best part? The crew was able to finish the job in much less time than was originally estimated, so the company is refunding us a check for $1500. How often does that happen in this day and age!
Description of Work: Sunergy installed a 4.3 KW photovoltaic system on our house, which included 21 Evergreen solar panels matched with a Sunny Boy 4000 inverter. Sunergy also completed and filed all the paperwork needed for the federal, state and local rebates, so that we didn't have to worry about anything. The electrical contractor was present to take care of all the inspections.

I didn't accept their bid. Overall, Sunergy may do a fine install and have a good product, but their sales tactics are similar to timeshares and you can't trust their numbers. The engineer didn't actually figure out how much roof area he could use despite complaining that my roof drawing was "incredibly detailed". He gave me 4 options but since he hadn't done the layout he couldn't tell me if I had enough room for the larger systems. Some of the presentation was boilerplate and had incorrect numbers from a previous job. Their engineering and products looked fine and initially I was impressed at the payback point. However, after looking at the numbers closely, I realized they didn't use my PSE bill. Even though the total consumption was close it was just boilerplate from another job. The chart of month-month usage clearly didn't match my chart. Worst yet was the engineer told me that historically PSE rates are rising at 11% per year and he gave payback estimates based on 11,14,17%. I looked at the last 7 and last 10 years of PSE rates and they rose at 4% and 7% respectively, nowhere near 15%. They also started my payback calculation at 13.3c/KWH even though he knew PSE rates were currently at 9.5c - that's 40% higher without any justification. Perhaps that was another boilerplate mistake. I wrote my own spreadsheet and those two inflations meant that the payback was really twice as long! These are all tactics that timeshare sales use and not the professional engineering evaluation I thought I was getting. He also had asked that both spouses be present - I thought this strange but now I realize that's another timeshare tactic. At my appointment he gave me a bill for $125 which he never mentioned before. It's one thing to make a hard pitch and pay you like a timeshare does. It's quite another to make an "engineering" pitch and charge you for it but use inflated overly-pessimistic numbers to fool clients into thinking their payback will occur in half the time it will really take. When I confronted the "engineer" about it he was very rude even though I was still willing to consider a system. Again, the "engineering" of these systems is pretty standard and so are the products, so I wouldn't be overly concerned about actually having them install one. Their prices were also what I was expecting and pretty standard. However, know up front that their numbers for payback are way off and that you can't trust any of the numbers they use in their presentations. I think there are better choices out there.
Description of Work: I saw Sunergy at a homeshow and had them give me a bid. I gave them a detailed PSE bill and a professionally produced roof chart in advance. I was given 4 engineering proposals with exact and detailed cost contracts.

The personnel are extremely nice and understood that we had already studied solar systems and did not want to be sold. They were good about answering questions and provided careful estimates of return on our investment. Guarantees are long as this equipment is expensive. Installation was on time and very neatly done. They provided all the documents and instruction on collecting the various tax incentives and rebates. The original inverter failed after a few months and they replaced it quickly with a minimum of hassle. There have been no problems since and our electrical bill decreased substantially. We have recently installed the hot water system. Again, after a return visit for some adjustment, the system is functioning as planned. The personnel return phone calls, answer questions and are all very nice. We did not shop by price so I have no real experience with competitive bids although its my impression that the price we paid was fair. My emphasis was on quality since this is a long term investment.
Description of Work: Sunergy initially installed a home photovoltaic electrical system including roof panels and an inverter. The roof panels are in racks and the racks are tied to rafters under the roof. The inverter is on side of the house and tied to electrical production and use meters and to our electrical box. After one year, we had them install a solar hot water system in addition. This includes the roof collector system, insulated lines down to the basement, a pressure release tank, pumping and control system and the electrical hot water tank. They handled everything from design to installation and start up and are available for maintenance should it be necessary.
