They were on time, explaied how long it would take, and worked efficiently; moving our four couches, and our heavy bedroom furniture. They even swapped out the washer and dryer, and then had to swap them back out after ourrs wouldn't fit in the new house. Oh yeah the washer and dryer are on the third floor of our new place. It took them 7 hours in alll, and it would have taken me twice that long.

This was SUCH A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. When I contacted Nice Movers initially, Scott's response was fast, and I had an accurate price quote immediately. We needed two movers to move heavy furniture. On the day of the move, the two wonderful Nice Movers men arrived on time, were pleasant and professional, and took great care to safely move our items. This was a temporary move for us, and we will be doing a large move in about 6 months. We will definitely call Scott at Nice Movers again. Can't say enough nice things about these guys.

They were on time, and pleasant mostly. The owner is wonderful, thoughtful, and competent. They damaged an antique chest, breaking off part of the jade accents, and horribly scraped other furniture. They also damaged entrance weather stripping. I did not, however, pay them to pack my items, but I did point out the items I was concerned about ahead of time. Perhaps had they packed items it would have kept this from happening. Because of that I did not file a complaint. Other people in my building felt that the movers did not make the elevator available to them as they needed it. While the owner was very professional, I would not necessarily say so for the staff, who need to learn not to bad-mouth other customers or the people in the building. Other than that, though, they were very nice to us, if not to my items.

Response from Nice Moves Moving LLC
I spoke with the crew members from this move. Here are my/their responses in regards to the issue on this day. 1. the chest - This must have been a smaller item packed by the client inside a box. On move day, the client was still packing a reasonable amount of boxes as our crew was loading. Often, this kind of last minute packing leads to hap-hazard filling of boxes by the customer to keep up with the crew and not waste time(as charges in this case and in most are by the hour). This is only my speculation based on the available information, interviews with the crew, and personal experience. There was also necessity for additional boxes as the client ran out, I delivered the boxes personally and no delivery charge was assessed for the delivery of the additional boxes. Movers do not have liability for the contents of boxes as we did not have control of the packing of the boxes. The only exceptions to this are if there's gross negligence(i.e we physically drop the box), or if there is an accident with the truck that causes damage to the load. 2. Damaged furniture items - Lesson one:CALL ME IF THERE WAS/IS A PROBLEM. If I don't know there was an issue, I can't fix it. Damaged furniture would have been covered under the liability option the customer chose had the customer made a claim. This review is the 1st time I've heard of the damage and it's been so long since the move, a claim is now not possible. Moving is dangerous for everything and everyone involved. Given enough moves over enough time, accidents are bound to happen. But if I'm not even given an opportunity to make it right or even made aware of the issue's, How can I fix them? 3. Bad Mouths - Our crews make every effort to accommodate other residents when loads or unloads are taking place in a apartment or condo complex. Most often, the building management and the client will have made arrangements to lock the elevator for exclusive use during the move. That was not the case in this instance. The crew informed me that they did run into one difficult resident as the unload was taking place. Their description was that they had a full elevator of items that they just finished loading on the elevator when the resident walked up. The resident demanded that the elevator be unloaded to accommodate them and the movers should then wait to use the elevator while they gathered items from their unit and came back down. After making the demands, our crew tried to explain to them that this type of reconfiguration would result in our customer having to pay more money for their move, as much as $45. They tried to reach a compromise to allow the flow of work to continue and still accommodate the resident. The resident then became unreasonable and began to berate the crew. One of the crew then responded to their comments with something along the lines of "...the world doesn't stop to meet your demands." Now this is a highly unusual situation and I don't condone the statement, but I can understand why he did that. He's clearly trying to protect the client from undue additional costs added to their move, and he's human. As are we all. In the heat of the moment, with someone standing over you, berating you as your trying to do very difficult, very physical, and very intricate work, your going to say something back. We did try to accommodate and reach a compromise, but it was not accepted.

The movers had some kind of scheduling glitch, and were a little late arriving. However from that point forward the move went perfectly. The movers were professional, and very careful. I have found nothing that was damaged or broken. The job took about 8 hours, and needed three men, so I thought the charge very reasonable.

They did a good job. We almost went with someone else who was a tiny bit cheaper but once we were done scheduling the move, the other company ended with "Oh, and call these people to rent a truck." Nice Moves has there own truck, which made them much cheaper overall then the original company we were thinking of going with. Nice Woves was careful with everything but they were extra careful with the stuff we told them to be careful with. They packed the truck well, covering all the furnature with moving blankets. They didn't seem to waste any time both moving the stuff out of the old place or moving into the new place. They stopped for lunch since our time had noon basically in the middle of it but were punctual to the time they said they'd be at the new place and the amount of time they took for lunch wasn't very long anyway. They were actually done faster than the estimate time and they took the angie's list coupon they had at the time no problem. I even didn't have a printer, so I printed it to PDF and e-mailed that over and it was no problem.

Scott, the owner, was very helpful in our communications prior to the actual move. The two movers he sent were cordial, professional, efficient, prompt and careful with our things. We had two snags - they arrived with a truck that was too small for all of our stuff - I may have underestimated the volume, but I'd suggest asking for an on-site estimate rather than relying on the person being moved to be accurate in assessing how much they have. That said, once they realized the truck they brought was too small, they delivered a larger one and the move went ahead, though a bit behind schedule. Second snag was that they left a piece of furniture in our storage unit - attributed it to miscommunication with me. They did pick up that last piece and delivered it to us - for a modest charge - within two days of my notification to them of the oversight. I was impressed with the care they took with some framed art, a glass coffee table and with packaging our TV. I would definitely use them again, with the caveats of asking for them to estimate the amount of stuff to be moved, to ensure the cost estimate and equipment they bring is adequate. Would also do a final walk through of all of your spaces once the move out is done, to catch anything that might have been left behind. Seems obvious but I didn't do that with our storage unit. Their pricing is fair and I really appreciated their professionalism.

Response from Nice Moves Moving LLC
To address the couple of snafu's here. 1. The truck size - With all orders, we request a list of large items. Many of our preliminary decisions are based on this list and the description of the properties. This member listed 4 items and "several bookcases". This, on paper, looks pretty small. Her place was a 2BR condo. Generally, places that small are pretty easy. 2 man crew with 16ft truck. However, in this instance the square footage(1200 or so) and the additional on site storage(8x8 roughly) put her over the top on the truck we had sent. Luckily, there was plenty of work to do in loo of me getting a larger truck out to the site(roughly 1 hour from our initial arrival). There was a long carry distance and an elevator at the condo so the crew was able to stage most items in the lobby by the time the 2nd truck arrived. 2. Left item - According to the crew, the client left the load location prior to completion of the load, thus a walk through prior to departure was not possible. It is standard practice to do a walk-through with the client once the load is complete. Lesson learned? Be thorough with the information you provide to your mover. It's easy to gloss over the details, but if you want an accurate assessment of your needs the information your mover receives also needs to be accurate. If your not able, then request an on-site estimate. On-sites are free and we are happy to provide them.

Description of Work: We had several estimates to move my father from his retirement center to our home and ended up using the another company that had moved him into the retirement center the year before, but the NIce Moves estimate was excellent. Scott was very professional, prompt and thorough and the estimate came in at less than the company we used. If we need to move again I will probably use Nice Moves.

These movers REALLY ARE NICE!! Most pieces that we had moved were fairly easy and straight forward but we have a large kitchen refrigerator/freezer that posed huge problems on both ends of the move. Neither of these two movers became flustered or upset but were extremely professional and problem solved around the both situations. On reaching our destination, besides moving our possessions into the house, they were very accomodating in helping us rearrange furniture, even carrying some heavy pieces out to the garage for a garage sale. I very highly recommend this moving company.

We had only about three weeks time to relocate for a job, and it was the beginning of the summer moving season. Nevertheless, we managed to get three estimates. Nice Moves was the least expensive, and the owner, Scott, was the most professional in his demeanor and presentation. We selected him, primarily based on his knowledge and professional approach, not on the price alone. They began the packing ahead of the move date. On the date of the move, they arrive 1.5 hours late to begin. The three men sent out seemed to be very disorganized and acted as if they had not done this type of work on a regular basis. They did not coordinate with one another very well, and seemed to have difficulty finishing the packing and loading the truck. At one point, I found one of the men starting to dismantle our brand new electric recliner leather sofa; something that would have voided the warranty, and may have caused damage to the unit, which had just been delivered to our home the week before from the furniture store. (Where we were moving was rural, and we decided to purchase a new sofa before we found ourselves in a somewhat isolated area.) Fortunately, I was able to stop the disassembly of the leather recliner sofa before he got very along with the process. On the way out the front door, the movers hit the door frame very hard with the sofa, and ripped part of the frame away! And, the owner of the rental home was coming over in an hour to do a final walk-through for damage deposit refund purposes. I phoned Scott, immediately, and he readily agreed to come over, himself, and bring his tools to see if he could repair the door and frame; the front door would no longer close! Unfortunately, the homeowner arrived at about the same time as Scott, and the three of us worked on the door, eventually getting it repaired on the spot. So, the owner of Nice Moves was very responsive to the situation, and I will give him points for that; but his men should not have broken the door in the first place. Scott then finished supervising the last of the loading, and the moving team headed on toward our new home destination, while I finished the walk-thru with the homeowner. At the new home, the guys began unloading and placing furniture and boxes. After a bit, I heard one of them say to the other two that they had lost some of the hardware for our brand new wooden bed frame! I went upstairs to talk to him about the bed. The guys said they would "figure it out." Eventually, they reported that the bed frame was reassembled and the mattress placed on it. I sat on it, and it seemed to be okay. (We had just purchased the new wooden frame the week before the move, when we purchased the leather recliner sofa mentioned above.) It was only about two days after the move, that we discovered that they had, indeed, lost hardware that secured the frame and headboard, causing the frame to repeatedly separate from the headboard, and major instability of the frame and matteress. Since the frame was specially made for the company from which we purchased it, the missing hardware was not readily available at the local hardware store. So, the movers managed to ruin a brand new bed frame! We are still tryihg (almost a year later) to get the lost hardware replaced, and having to endure repeated slippage of the frame, along with a lot of noise when getting in or out of bed. To add insult to injury, we discovered that the packing was extremely sloppy, with many heavy objects tossed on top of delicate objects with no padding or wrapping, and cartons were overloaded. Ultimately, we estimate that we suffered about $1200.00 in damaged items due to the lack of proper packing. I am not a professional mover, and I have packed cartons much better than these guys when I have moved in the past. I have also hired professional movers to pack before, and so I have seen how it is done by pros; this was the worst packing I have ever seen! In addition, we also later discovered that two pouches of assorted precious and semi-precious gems that we use to make jewelry, were missing altogether from where we had placed them in the tool cabinets (worth approximately $600.00). To be fair, we did not actually witness any of the movers taking the two large pouches, but we had seen them just the day before the move took place, when we wrapped and placed them in the tool chest, and nobody else had access to them apart from ourselves and the movers. Another thing that occurred......For some reason, after the move occurred, Scott (owner of Nice Moves) said that our AMEX card would not go through, so he would need to use another card; rather odd, since we have used AMEX for virtually most of our credit purchases. Fortunately, we had enough credit available on one of our other cards to cover the cost. Then, he advised us that we would have to pay a surcharge to him to cover his expense for using a credit card! In case you are wondering about the insurance; the insurance does not cover the missing gems, and the other items damaged are only covered for a miniscule amount based on weight, not replacement cost. There are so many exclusions in the replacement cost insurance, it does not pay to get charged the extra for it (read the fine print). Consequently, we did not even bother to make a claim for the damaged and missing items, since the payout would not even cover the cost of replacing one broken table lamp. I like Scott Lewis (Nice Moves owner) as a person, and his willingness to educate customers about the shady things that are often done by other movers. I like the fact that he does not gouge customers with regard to his rates. And I believe that Scott knows what he is doing! The problem is that he was not directly supervising most of the packing and loading, and the his crew were a disaster with regard to their performance. So, for that reason, I cannot recommend Nice Moves to others, though I wish that I could. I took notes around the time of the move on all of the above, and purposefully waited a while to write this review, as I did not want to do it while still angry about the outcome; thus, the delay of about 8 months time.

We contacted Nice Moves because of their Angie's List discount. They were very friendly over the phone and gave us a reasonable quote. After setting up a time for the move, we called them with two additional requests - disposal of a couch that was no longer usable and the delivery of one of the items of furniture to a second location. They had no problem accommodating our two additional requests, and at reasonable rates. The two workers were punctual, efficient, professional and friendly. Overall it was a good experience at a reasonable price.

I tried to explain in advance that my driveway was long, narrow and steep, but it wasn't until they got there that the guys really understood. They got their supervisor to come by and he had them bring in a pickup to shuttle my belongings down to the street. Until it arrived, they wheeled what they could down the drive. When the pickup arrived, they worked hard and fast, but the initial delay and having to move everything twice slowed things down immensely. It ended up taking much longer and costing more than the online estimate, but was close to the written estimate I was given at the time. The crew worked hard, non-stop and never complained even though it was Super Bowl Sunday and the original plan was to be done by 2pm. Even when it started raining at the end, they kept going. I wish they had told me in advance that they weren't able to get the last few items in the truck. I had to get a friend with an SUV to drive up the next day. It wasn't the end of the world, but a bit inconvenient. Overall a very good experience.

Unfortunately, The only way to deal with a long steep driveway is to do the shuttle configuration. It saves as much time as possible by cutting down the number of trips up and down the driveway necessary to get all the belongings out. We didn't charge for the delay to get the additional truck out to the site, we didn't charge any additional for the extra truck itself, nor did we charge the standard overtime charges due to the delay. While it wasn't entirely caused by us. We found doing that was the most fair. As for the items that didn't make it, it would have been impossible to be able to tell any sooner. By the numbers, it was close, but looked like it would make it. We couldn't really tell until the end that the last few items weren't going to fit. Moving is not an exact science. We did have our largest truck on site which was filled to the brim. We would have needed an additional box truck to accommodate the last bit of overflow, which in the end would have been unnecessarily expensive for so few items. However we are sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for using us and understanding the difficulties of your location. Best of luck in your new place!

They go by the book for estimating and are right on top of the legalities of moving. Their detailed estimate and care structuring in won them the job. The crew showed up on time and worked hard all the way through. The move took longer than anticipated resulting in a rise in price but it was not due to lack of effort. These guys hustle. They worked straight through from 9 AM until 7 PM with only a short break for lunch with only a bit of an energy drain toward the end. The reason for a B for quality, is a broken book case and damaged end tables. Broken casters on the end tables can be understood as they were already fragile and one had broken previously. However the book case crumbled due to overloading the top of it packing. It was, ironically, used to support boxes of books that were too heavy and it caved in right away. Nice Moves was honost about the damage and the reason. We did not choose to claim it on the insurance they provide due to low value. And what the heck, something is going to break moving and I would not give them anything less than the B and an A average over all. They knew what they were doing, were a fun crew to have, and we would use them again.

Thanks for using us. We are really sorry about the bookcase, it was deceivingly fragile. It looked and felt(due to the weight) like an Oak piece that was built solid. There's no question that it was overloaded on top which is why it collapsed, but only had 1 row of small boxes on top. After it collapsed, we were all(including the client) surprised to find that it was a particleboard piece. A solid piece would have been able to handle the weight. Particleboard, as we all know, is not nearly as sturdy. While we always strive to have a perfect move every time, even the best mover will have a casualty now and again. What's important is to respond to it immediately and appropriately. Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to helping with your next move.

We moved a short distance but it was worth getting Nice Moves to handle the loading and unloading. I had filled out a work order and entered the wrong date but Scott contacted me to double check the date. We got 3 movers and truck. They were professional, friendly and efficient. And were careful of our belongs. No surprises. They kept us informed about the logistics and asked when they were unsure of whether an item needed to be loaded to the truck. When I asked for a heavy bookshelf to be moved to a different part of the house after it had been unloaded they happily did it.

Excellent job, no problems at all; I will definitely use Nice Moves on my next move.
Description of Work: I was very pleased with my entire experience with Nice Moves. I contacted Scott at the last minute (my fault) to arrange for a large move from Seattle to Kitsap county. He initially didn't think he had the crews available to fit my needs, but was able to quickly adjust his crews over the weekend to make the moving schedule fit my needs. The crews were prompt, well organized and worked efficiently to complete the job on time and at a very reasonable price. In total (including truck rentals, fuel & ferry charges), my total move cost was about 40% less than what a full service moving company quoted.

On moving day, four guys and two trucks showed up right on time. They were pleasant to work with, very professional, worked well together and were very careful with our belongings. They were not phased at all by the scope of the job. At the end of the day they came in under budget and were done earlier than estimated, even with breaks. I was very impressed and would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs to move.
Description of Work: I received a thorough moving estimate by Scott, the owner, about 3 weeks before our move. It was one of many quotes I received. While it was not the lowest, it was within our budget and I was comfortable hiring Nice Moves based on the reviews on Angie's List.

Prior to Move - They communicated very well prior to the move. Confirmed our date and everything was on schedule. Then they hit a snafu the day before our move -- their truck got stolen. No problem, they called me and said they would be 1 hr late due to having their truck stolen. Day of move - they showed up on time, and they had their truck back (someone stole it for their move and then abandoned it). Two guys loaded everything up, they worked at a good pace, and nothing broke. We even had more stuff than originally estimated and they were able to fit everything on the truck. During the unload, they were very respectful of not tracking in dirt, they laid down blankets on the carpet and again, everything went well. They even gave us a discount for being Angie's List members. Would highly recommend.
Description of Work: Moving from a Kirkland 2-bedroom condo to a house on Whidbey Island. We did our own packing and they did everything else.
