We do our very best to put your mind at ease and strive to make your moving experience fast, friendly, and without incident. But Don't take my word for it, look us up online. Description of Work: They moved my elderly father-in-law from one building to another next door. He is 94 and was a bit befuddled. These guys showed up on time (to the minute), they were quick, calm and extremely efficient. They turned what could have been a nightmare into a very fast, seamless operation that got Dad moved with an absolute minimum of upset. |They ROCKED!

Description of Work: Moved up from our very small 1 bed Apt and put our stuff into storage and moving truck. My things were not packed professionally or carefully. I had to give quite a bit of instruction and help and even with that, it took entirely too much time even with help. One of the movers let me know it took so much time because I wanted things packed the way I did. I had moved 9 months prior and it took half the time and it was a 2 story home with twice the amount of stuff. Needless to stay we were very disappointed and would not use them again.

I'm sorry that this member felt they had a poor experience. There are a number of factors that made this gentleman's move more complex and time consuming than one would be imagine based on the size of his place. 1. Preparation - The initial order for this move was a 1 bedroom apt to move from a downtown high-rise to storage. 1 week prior to the move, that request changed to add packing of 10 wardrobe boxes and for us to supply said boxes. 2 days prior to the move, the request changed again to add packing of the kitchen. When we arrived on the site, nothing was packed or organized and we were requested to do the entire pack and provide all necessary materials. This created obvious challenges as were weren't prepared for a full pack and did not have necessary materials on hand. 2. The Pack - The clients belongings were going to 2 separate locations. There was no clear cut division or marking in any room, drawer, or cabinet that distinguished what was going where. Without a clear division, every drawer we opened could be 40% one location and 60% to the other and we can't know that information without asking. We had to essentially ask about the destination of every item before it went into a box. We were also requested to organize the apparel in a particular order prior to packing and to wrap each shoe individually. all this organization takes time, and much more than would be typical. 3. The Location - They were on the 14th floor of the condo building in Downtown Seattle. In conversations with the client, we were told that there was a loading zone available for us to park in that was close to the lobby. Upon arriving this was no the case. The loading zone was not a reserved space and was occupied when we arrived, the space was also too small for the moving truck. This left only the option of parking illegally in a pay lot that was behind the building, across 6 spaces. From the front(where the loading zone was) the carry distance from the elevator to the truck was approx 150ft. From the back(where the truck was parked), the carry distance was approx 250ft. Add the elevator and key-fob entry at all doors and you have many obstacles that make loading time extend much longer than one may think. 4. The Bottom Line - For the best results from your moving experience, we all need to work together. We as your movers don't know what your plans are for every item to be moved and won't remember 100 small details without asking multiple times. Having well communicated intentions and clear-cut organization prior to our arrival will expedite your move and save you $ overall. Having been in business for 15 years, I understand that I won't be able to please everyone all the time, though I do strive to do so and so does my crew. Please consider our other reviews.

Description of Work: I was so pleased with the way that Nice Moves handled the challenging logistics when moving furnishings from a city apartment (plus the contents of three separate storage units) to a house and a separate storage unit on an island. Scott Lewis provided quite an accurate bid for the work. | |The wonderful crew was hard working and positive, arranging boxes and furnishings in the truck so everything could be moved systematically. It was a long day, they worked extra hours to get the job done. They were professional and personable, and finished tired but smiling. | |I heartily recommend Nice Moves, and would hire the company again if I ever decide to leave island living. |

Response from Nice Moves Moving LLC
There is only so much stacking we can do when moving only large items. This client had roughly 6000lbs(approx 35 pieces) worth of large items and only a 10 x 10 storage unit to fit it into and a good handful of them were delicate antiques(glass-front bookcase, apolstered arm chairs, etc...) . These items just don't stack. We did all we could to squeeze them all into the 10 x 10 but it just wasn't possible. We ended up with about 8 pieces that wouldn't fit requiring the client to rent an additional unit. It would have been 4-5 pieces, but in the interest of speed, we placed a few extra pieces in the overflow unit rather than spend the time squeezing them in the full unit. The original 10 x 10 unit was also 10 ft high, we were able to stack to roughly the 7 ft mark, wall-to-wall, front-to-back, leaving a 3 ft gap at the top of the unit. There was simply nothing that could safely be up that high and on top of everything else.

I called the owner Scott about 3 weeks before the move and discussed my needs. I used Nice Moves twice before, hiring 2 guys each time, but was concerned about the long day with just 2 guys. Scott suggested that a 3rd guy would actually be more cost effective as he could stay on the truck for the most part. The guys were scheduled to arrive in Gig Harbor between 9 - 9:30 a.m. They called at 9 and said they were stuck in Seattle due to extraordinarily heavy traffic. They arrived at 10:30. Their tardiness had me concerned but they really hustled and made up for it. Loaded quickly and were on our way to the Seattle house at 12:30. They stayed behind my u-haul on the drive, in case someting went wrong and to give me space when changing lanes. We unloaded in Seattle, the guys took a brief lunch then off to the Seattle apartment to reload. Then back to the new house, finished by 5:30 p.m. The guys were polite and professional, which is why I have been a 3 time customer of Nice Moves!
Description of Work: Moved items from a house in Gig Harbor and a Seattle apartment into a house in Seattle. Because of a the long driving times and moving out of 2 residences, I hired 3 movers for approximately 8 hours. I provided a 26' U-haul truck.
