Unprofessional. No response at all from the company.
Description of Work: Emailed via Angie's list and left a couple of voice-mails and we did not receive a single response. I figured that at the least, a call back or an email response with "we're too busy" or something along that nature would've sufficed.

I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused. During the month of January I was traveling a bit and it is possible that I could have overlooked the email from Angie's List.

I didn't take the estimate or pursue the job further. Everything was fine except the cost. They told me exactly what needed to be done. I told them what I wanted. It was all satisfactory. If somebody wanted to use them, I think they would be fine. They showed up on time. They gave me a thorough discussion over what needed to be done.

If an idea can become a reality, Jared preforms it's construction with precision. Our deck is lovely.
Description of Work: Constructed a free standing 28' x 17' Ipe deck accessed from french doors with a custom 30 sq ft, 45 degree angle deck leading to side yard. A single concrete supported 20' step is placed along one 28' side of deck and there are two steps leading down from the custom angle. We wanted an infinity deck. The job started with hand excavation of the area to be covered by deck. An old maple tree's roots had to remain intact, great attention was paid to preserving the tree's root system. Weed barrier was laid, concrete footings were poured, pressure treated incised supports and framing were placed. The decking boards were laid perpendicular to the house with 3" overhangs, all cuts to Ipe were treated with Anchor Seal, all boards were fastened with stainless steel fasteners, the fascia is clear cedar. The deck was not secured to house it is free standing but looks built on. A top coat of Penofin Penetrating Oil was applied.

When we removed our front cement 5-stair stoop, we discovered the wood under our entry/porch was rotted out. We called Jared, who had done work for us previously, and in a panic described our situation. He was very helpful and reassuring on the phone and came the next morning to look at the entry. It was a complicated job because it was difficult to access the woodwork under the front of the entry, but he was quickly able to devise a plan to fix it and was available to start on it right away. He worked tirelessly in the hot summer sun, kneeling on the rough cement rubble of our former stairs. He did an excellent job rebuilding and installing metal flashing to the foundation/support of our entry. The cement contractor who came after the job was finished (to pour new cement stairs) remarked on what a great job Jared had done. Our neighbor also complimented the work, as well as his work ethic.
Description of Work: Jared removed rotten woodwork from under our front entry/porch and rebuilt the bottom of our entry, including installing metal flashing.

Jared came out, on time (early actually!), gave me a estimate. I was immediately impressed with how professional he was. He brought a portfolio of past work and references to the first meeting, which is rare. He worked with me to refine the details of my project and was extremely patient as I worked through options. He was booked out pretty far in advance, which was not convenient, but i felt (and now know) spoke to the quality of his work. I got on the calendar for 3 months out and waited. tick tock. The appointed day, Jared came on time and started work. My house proved to be an extreme challenge with a lack of straight, level walls and right angles, but Jared was unflappable. He worked through every single challenge and delivered flawless end results with no drama. He is a perfectionist, which is also rare to find in a contractor. His work is meticulous. He worked long hours and ended up having to work the weekend to get it done on time, and did so without a complaint. He also spent way more time than either of us expected, but stuck to his original estimate. He was neat and clean, and just a generally nice guy that you don't mind having around. I am beyond excited about my new door. And i would HIGHLY and DEFINITELY recommend Method for any project you can get them/him for.

In the end I budgeted about $2,500 for this job. After talking with Jared this seemed pretty right on, and in the end it was just a little less than that, including the windows. An issue came up during the job regarding the slope of the house that made the area the windows go into less than square, which is a real concern for me. But with good carpentry skills and a bottom line attitude that aesthetics are as important as sound construction, Jared was able to both fix the trouble areas and hide this flaw entirely. So, in the end, the price of the job was what I expected it to be and structural flaws that could have been a problem in the appearance of the final product were worked around. So, I'm more than happy with the money spent.
Description of Work: The job was centered around a small, enclosed south oriented porch/mud room of my house with no tree cover. The house has no awnings and that side of the house gets hammered by wet weather in winter and loads of direct sun during the summer. This section was an addition to the original construction, added several decades ago, which unfortunately has sagged a little over time due to the hillside the house sits on. This combined with an ancient leaky gutter created some water damage that took a toll on the sills, the exterior of the house around the windows, and contributed to some wood rot in structural areas. It's a nice little spot though and we wanted to start using it. Jared replaced the damaged sills, added metal covering, repaired the window flashing and a load bearing corner 4x4, added some lumber-based support to the concrete slab the porch sits on, installed 2 windows, insulated the area and did some finishing work. The result is an area once only good for tossing junk in, is now perfect for morning coffee or a little, almost outdoor time at any time of the year.

I worked with Jared to do several minor (non-structural) renovation projects on my 85 year old house and he did a great job on all of them. The largest project was a bathroom remodel that involved installing a new single hung window, an exhaust fan including dedicated wiring, replacing the formica walls with 8x6 tile, refinishing the tub, and installing new copper plumbing and fixtures. Jared's workmanship and attention to detail was outstanding. For example, when Jared installed the new window he also made new a casement window header that matched the existing house trim (bungalow-style 1.25" fir) and notched out the tile around the header. He gladly did the extra work to preserve the character of the house instead of chop-sawing the angled header and minimizing the tile work. It's this attention to detail that I highly valued. The bathroom looks great and his suggestion of installing an exhaust fan was an excellent one - it's whisper quiet and adds a much needed light to the tub area. In addition, in the process of discussing the renovations he suggested that we include a recessed niche in the new wall that was sized for bulk-sized bathroom products. This was something I hadn't considered and it's worked out extremely well. It's an excellent size and the sloped tile base never leaves standing water. The other major project was the replacement of a steel shower stall with a new freestanding one. The new shower's installation requirements combined with the slab foundation forced Jared to improvise a shower pan base frame and trim (mitred, of course) work. Being an old house, it's often the case that improvisation is needed to accommodate new materials and products, and Jared always came up with a solid solution to the numerous problems that were not possible to foresee. He also routed out the shower trim so that the shower side's screw heads were concealed - another example of his attention to detail. There were also several smaller projects (custom reducer for a threshold, conduit for external wiring, deadbolt lock replacement, drywall patching around previously poorly installed pipes) that he worked on with equal care. Despite the inevitable setbacks and unexpected situations, Jared did an excellent job. Pricing was highly competitive and he's willing to work with you if you want to do a bit of the legwork yourself. The final price was well in line with the original estimate. I acquired many of the products myself (both new and used) and he was happy to work with me to get them installed properly. Professionally, he's extremely punctual and will notify you of any change of plans, and the daily cleanup was exhaustive. Highly recommended. Best of luck Jared.

Jared and Harley are OUTSTANDING! I have done many remodels, large and small, over the years and they are among the best contractors I have ever worked with. They started on time, finished early, cleaned up every day, and were most pleasant to have around. Their detail work is impeccable - I am known to be picky and I could not find fault with any part of their finish work, since they are even pickier than I am! They carefully explained anything extra they needed to do, and gave me options and alternatives if possible. They are creative and thorough, and very good at what they do. I would use them again for any type of project. Their price is not the highest, but not the lowest either. I was fairly confident from the way they approached the bidding process that I would get value for the investment, and I certainly did. Their work was superior, and I know that other companies would have charged more - some would have charged less, I'm sure, but the quality would not be as good.
Description of Work: The work involved replacing countertops, sinks, toilets and plumbing in two bathrooms, and replacing cabinetry, sinks and countertops in a 3rd bath. They also removed mirrors, repaired drywall and replaced/upgraded electical components.

It went very well. He was not the lowest bid, but he was very detail oriented. I was shaken at first by all of the work that he said I needed, but after I talked to all of the other carpenters, he stood out as being the most conscientious. That turned out to be the case. He would ask me as the job went along for my opinion on various things. The finished product looks quite good and I felt that it was definitely worth the cost.

Jared responded promptly to my initial telephone call and came out to look at the project. He helped me determine the measurements of my garage opening so that I could order the doors from my manufacturer. The doors and frame were delivered to his shop where he primed and painted them. The paint job was excellent. He delivered them to my home and installed them. He was meticulous and very hard-working. He left the job-site tidy every day. Jared's attention to detail is extraordinary.

It went really well. Jared is an exceptional contractor. He came for the estimate on our schedule. The "B" given to responsiveness was due solely to the amount of time taken to receive the estimate. Jared arrived on a day convenient for us. He worked quickly, kept me informed of the progress, and cleaned up after himself (the kitchen was probably cleaner after he left than before he arrived).

Overall this remodel went really well. He showed on time during the big snow to do the estimate. They were there all day, everyday and worked late several times (after checking with us first). They cleaned up daily and were very respectful of the fact we were still living in the house. Jared did a line item bid, thus we could decide where to make cuts in order to stick to our budget. Jared was very open to us DIY'ers do small bits such as flooring and paint. He even helped us cut out part of the old flooring in anotther room. The cherry on top they finished ahead of schedule.
Description of Work: Kitchen Remodel Jared and crew took out two walls, replacing one with a half wall, raised a dropped ceiling, lowered the floor, moved eledtrical outlets/switches, installed lighting (recessed, in cabinet and under cabinet), moved the sink, moved a window, assembled and installed cabinets. In short they turned our early eighties dungeon like kitchen into a beautiful modern oasis.

I sent an email on Easter Sunday requesting a fast estimate for some wood rot to be replaced on a house I am trying to buy. Jared called me within a few hours and although he wasn't going to be able to do the estimate in the time frame I needed, he referred me to someone and said not to hesitate to call him with any questions. He was very nice and willing to help however he could. He even wished me a Happy Easter. :)

He did a great job. The new door opens with a whoosh as the bottom insulating piece brushes against the threshold, and it shuts tightly, without letting a whisper of sound come in. It is the best fitted door we have ever had! Jared also stayed until the job was finished, working into the evening to get the job done.
Description of Work: Jared installed a new doorbox and door to replace a basement door in our 1915 house. This required cutting out the old door (as the old door's lock was broken and therefore the door itself was inoperable), fitting and insulating the new door box in the opening and making it plumb, installing the new deadbolt lock and door knob, and adding exterior trim.

We had a basic drawing of what we wanted and between our ideas and Jared's we ended up with a beautiful/functional front porch. This project was loaded with custom woodwork, custom cooper work and a lot of snow. During the snow it was discovered that we had a major leak from the upstairs balcony. Jared brought out a building inspector to have the problem double checked, it turned out the flashing had to be completely redone on the balcony. The exterior of the balcony, cedar shake had to be removed, the under board replaced and proper flashing installed. It was a complete disassembly of the 3 exterior walls. Jared constructed custom copper diverter flashing for either side of the balcony. The porch columns consist of custom wooden bases with individual shingles adhered to a triangular custom form capped with a smaller custom wooden base that leads to all of the custom copper that completes the column. Into all of this went flashing and a lot of consideration as to how water would fall from the columns. 10 porch beams were capped in copper and small copper pieces were put into place: around the drain pipe opening on the ceiling, over the existing oxidized porch brackets, to give the whole project a finished look.
Description of Work: Put in place a painted tongue and groove porch roof with 2 outdoor recessed lights and 2 electrical plugs, controlled by 2 switches inside the front door. Wrapped 2 unfinished braces/columns with a wooden form wrapped in individual cedar shingles and custom copper pieces. Capped 10 exposed porch braces with copper, replaced porch swings chains with stainless steel chain. Removed/replaced siding, caps etc. on existing balcony above front porch, installed flashing, replaced cedar shingles, custom made copper diverter flashing.

The radiant heat system was a major concern of ours and Method came through with flying colors, attention to detail is one of Methods strong suits. Our final product is a floor with a lower threshold than previously existed, our heating system is intact and all went smoothly from start to finish. The job entailed moving a 6 burner Viking range, removing a dishwasher and placing the flooring around existing cupboards with a an eye to the future when they will be removed and replaced. An add on : sub-floor and wood flooring to a 3'x3" concrete slab entry way was also completed.
Description of Work: The sub-floor of our kitchen was removed and replaced before a new engineered wood floating floor was installed. Our kitchen floor was a mess with seams breaking through the ceramic tiles in 4 places and the sub-floor was thicker than necessary. Add to all of this the fact that we have hoses adhered to the underfloor for our radiant heat system.

Jared and his crew were very professional and knowledgeable about what needed to be done and how to go about it. Due to several foundation problems, the final cost was more that the original estimate, but well worth it. I am very pleased with the final product and would recommend Jared and his crew for any of your carpentry needs. They know how to do everything. I plan on using him for all future projects at my home.
Description of Work: I hired Jared and his crew to replace my 400 sq ft. covered deck, stairs and railing. During the demolition, he discovered some foundation problems that had to be addressed. He immediately knew how to solve the problem and proceeded. I decided to use TREX decking and railing and Jared was a great help in choosing the right decking and color.

Jared and David are men of integrity. All subcontracted work was done to Jared's exacting standards: drywall, paint, glass shower door and wood trim. Method was on time, on budget (with 1 minor add on for our additional request) clean work site and very personable. Our bathroom job entailed 6 different tile styles: the floor, and 5 in the custom tiled shower. Jared suggested that we choose 3 different grout colors and we did. David went to lengths creating a beautiful niche that blends perfectly with our band of linear glass tiles. I appreciated that Jared and David both had suggestions and opinions, we did not hire a designer but with the level of detail preformed, you would think we had. Our fixtures were not on site when job started, but J&D were able to keep to schedule and work them in as they arrived. The only unexpected occurrences were: because the shower trim was not here when the plumbing and tile were put into place, extensions had to be purchased in order for the trim to be installed and when the sub contractor installed the glass shower door, one of the tiles cracked. Once Jared had replaced the one glass tile, he had the owner of the company handle the re-installation of the door.
Description of Work: Demolition of main floor bathroom, new plumbing for sink and shower, ducting for fan, framing shower stall, soffit, and pocket door, drywall, paint, trim, tiling, fixtures and custom wood vanity with custom metal brackets. Created opening between dining room and kitchen, fir trim, replaced door between kitchen and hall, installed French doors in living room, matched trim to existing color.

Jared was able to come to give an estimate the same day I called which was super compared to the other carpenters I had called. I waited more than a week for some of them to just return my call. When it came time to install the door, Jared came prepared, with all the necessary tools and equipment. He was also very willing to utilize some additional security measures we wanted to employ with the new door. He was very considerate of both our dogs and 2 young children and cleaned up after the work was done. Jared was professional and very personable, and clearly takes pride in his work.
Description of Work: Our house had been burglarized in July and the front door was quite damaged. Jared installed a new pre-hung exterior door. The job had some challenges (walls not plumb etc.) but Jared made it work and put in a 12 hour day.
