Jared has a message on his answering machine that he is unavailable and will not be taking on any new work (as of my call on March 2017). Maybe too popular due to Angie's List customer response ;-)

Not responsive or professional at all.
Description of Work: I didn't have any work done because he would not call me back. I left a message through Angie's List for him, waited a week, and then left a voicemail. He didn't even bother to call or write a message he was too busy or not interested. I guess maybe you should pass on trying to hire him unless you want to delay your project by two weeks.

Within a week, Jared called us and said he had time to do the work. He had said it would be a one day job. He called me in the middle of the day and said that he would have to do some modifying to the original plan due to unforeseen problems inherent with a 70 year old house. He explained our options, and was able to describe it over the phone well enough that I could picture what he meant. I agreed with his assessment of what would work best. I felt secure that Jared would make it work. We have had him do two other projects that ended up great. Even with the slight detour in the plan and having to go to the lumber yard for more lumber, he was still done that evening. We are very happy with the way it turned out aesthetically, plus the porch is now so much safer. (The previous post was not even attached to the porch. Jared said he removed it with a kick.) After Jared is done with a job, we never even know he was there. He cleans up the project with the same detail he gives to the work.
Description of Work: Our front porch had a rotting support post that needed replacing. We also wanted the railing replaced and updated, and a new porch light installed. We provided the porch light. Jared came and gave us a good estimate in a very timely manner. We signed the bid and paid half up front. Jared said he would put us on his calender.

Jared was very helpful, listened to what I needed, made good suggestions including several that saved me money and built a really nice access door. He asked multiple times through the project about various options and followed my direction in keeping the work and cost down. Most importantly, there was another area of sheathing with a small amount of rot - I asked him if he would replace it all - and he suggested using some scrap from the access door to replace the quite small rotted section and told me I would be wasting my money to replace all the sheathing. Can't be anything but happy about a nice guy, competent, listens to what the owner wants, and saves the owner money even at the cost of turning down more work. I'd hire him again without any reservation.

Went great. One of the reasons we hired Method Finish Carpentry was the amount of time giving advice Jared gave us before we even hired hiim. While having a new floor installed, we discovered some water damage to the subfloor in the entry way. We looked for contractors on Angie's List and saw Method Finish Carpentry got good marks. I called, left a message, and then shortly thereafter got a call back from Jared. He explained what we he thought was going on and what we needed to do even though he was too busy to help us right away. We delayed finishing the floor so we could get the problem fixed. Ultimately we decided to have a new door installed. We chose Jared because he seemed to approach the leaking water problem holistically as opposed to someone like Washington Energy Services who were just going to do a cookie cutter installation. We had to wait a bit for Jared to get us on his calendar but once we were he was prompt and reliable. Once the door was installed he followed up after two big storms and tweaked it a bit to make sure it was not leaking. Jared is an interesting person, very easygoing, committed to making sure were satisfied, and just a pleasure to work with. We were very happy with the project and will gladly hire Method Finish Carpentry for future work around the house.

I called Jared and he visited my home to discuss installing a new deck, including demolition on existing one. This was a considerable job, in the $40,000 to $50,000 range. In addition there were some smaller jobs in the house - installation of bookshelves and rearranging some windows in basement. Jared was prompt, courteous, professional and enthusiastic, and although I did not proceed with him I would certainly recommend him. Timing was a key factor in our decision and another contractor was able to start work sooner. That being said I have confidence Method would have done a good job had we proceded with them.

VERY high quality work. Jared is a perfectionist and well worth the price for his input, attention to detail and follow through. He spent efficient time on thorough walk-thrus prior to pricing (and while sharing his experience) then again once after the contracts were signed but prior to starting the work. He has a casual style but an obvious love for his what he does. He was flexible with his contract amounts and how we would structure his providing materials for the projects. He provided complete and comprehensive tools for the scope as well as the experience to efficiently and expertly use them. His availability was limited when our scope crept beyond what we had planned but he was thoughtful and a good communicator in getting to dates that would work for us all in the end and to complete the work. Our house was built in 1957 and we bought from the original owners so we are extensively remodeling. We look forward to working with Jared again for the myriad of projects this house requires...

Professional. Honest. Quality Finished Product. Problem Solvers. Clean. We worked with several companies for quotes on our new deck but went with Method Finish Carpentry, mainly based on their price and professionalism. The quoting process was extremely detailed which provided an easy way to see where we could make simple trade-offs and also track our costs throughout the project. Method even provided some creative ideas (e.g. baby gate) and solutions (e.g. removable decking) when we needed to augment the existing design. The Method team was extremely gracious when entering our home, always removing shoes and ensuring that there was no trace left behind. The same goes for our yard and deck area, as well, as the team took the time to clean-up after themselves everyday which was incredibly thoughtful given that we have three young children. The finished product certainly exceeded our expectations - the deck looks great and the team went above and beyond to install a weed barrier under the deck prior to the final construction and even let us know where flashing was incorrectly installed and offered to reinstall correctly (charging only the time and materials needed). We are incredibly pleased with the outcome. We are currently finishing a large scale interior remodel of our home and I know that we will use the Method team again on several interior projects.
Description of Work: Built a 750 sqft deck to the architectural specifications provided and managed the permitting process through final inspection. The Method team dug out all footing hole casements, built casts for / installed the footings, and then built the framing, deck, and railings.

Jared came through for me and my family again. After too many years since our last interior painting, we decided to bite the bullet and have it done. Magically, Jared was able to cause this to happen when our family was to be out of town, so that we had the luxury of not living through the process. As with our first remodeling experience with Jared a year ago, he was beyond professional, communicative, and courteous. We are thankful for the day we found him and will always call him in the future for our house issues.

Everything went exceptionally well. I've used Jared before on my kitchen and really enjoy working with him, which is why I waiting for his schedule to have room for my bathroom remodel. Jared is really patient and helpful, and offers lots of great suggestions. As I planned this remodel myself, its great to work with someone who takes the time to understand and help on my unprofessional plans. Working with Jared I foresaw a lot of issues and we came up with workable plans to some tricky situations before they arose. I'm really happy with the results. I outsourced some of the work (plumbing, electrical, and tiling), and Jared managed everything else. I had planned just to do the bathroom, but as the work was looking so good, it would have made the rest of the house look terrible! So we added in some extra skim coating, new trim, and painting in other rooms. I also had an old chimney from an upgrade for an oil furnace to gas, and Jared saw to removing the chimney and patching up the roof and floor. Jared was flexible with schedule once things got underway, and worked well around the other contractors. Overall the schedule went reasonably well considering the amount of work done. My bathroom is the envy of all my friends now! I can't wait to have Jared back in a couple of months to give me a new deck on the front of the house as well,
Description of Work: Ripped out entire existing bathroom structure, including floor, ceiling, and two walls, for old bathroom and half toilet. Removed and replaced water damaged floor joists Moved an existing wall between bathroom and bedroom to enlarge bathroom Reframed an exterior wall for new window layout Leveled existing floor joists and installed new subfloor Chimney demolition from roof, down through study, and into basement Installed new insulation, drywall, and backer board. Slopped the shower flooring to install an 'infinity' shower drain. Built structure for shower and bathtub pony walls Jacked up and put in new concrete footing and post for poorly supported beam under the bathroom floor Build new wall with pocket door for bathroom entrance Skim coated hallway and installed new baseboards. Skim coated entire living area (old cracked plaster) Installed new door and frame and attic access in study room Repainted all walls and trim in bathroom, hallway, living room, and study Painted ceilings in bathroom, hallway, and study

Jared Mauck is the consummate craftsman and perfectionist! Which is exactly what you want from a contractor. Method Finish Carpentry should be on the Page of Happiness! This was our 2nd project with Jared. He did an amazing kitchen remodel for us. New custom cabinets and granite countertops and he did a fantastic job with that project. So we hired him again to do this work on our entry way. He is meticulous and clean and careful and creative. He is very easy to work with. He has a great sense of design and makes wonderful suggestions. He goes above and beyond and stands behind his work. My wife and I love this guy! We like him so much that we plan to take him and his family out for pizza just because he did such great work! We have 3 more projects in mind one of which is 3 bathroom remodels. We will hire him again for all of those. We trust him so much that I won't even bother to get other bids. He will be the guy for all our future projects. Just like the jewelry store advertisement I am proud to say that, "We went with Jared!"

Our experience with Jared was great. When I first contacted him, he was vacationing with his family and took the time to discuss my project. We had a structural engineer draw up plans for reinforcing our deck and, upon meeting Jared, Jared appeared to have no trouble going through the blueprints to identify the work to be done, which consisted of replacing a supporting beam, adding another to be held up with new supporting columns, reinforcing other existing columns, adding flashing and--with my apologies to Jared--many other details that are beyond the scope of my understanding. We had a few bumps getting our job scheduled, on both our sides, but we were each flexible and once the job began, Jared focused on it until it was finished. Jared always stayed in contact with us and I found I could rely on him to let us know when something noteworthy was about to take place. He was even considerate enough to try and jackhammer concrete around my toddler's naps (we discovered we have sons the same age; we probably swapped as much parenting advice and stories as we did work-related information!). Even though it might be said our job was straightforward (though still a good amount of work), Jared made sure all of his t's were crossed and his i's dotted. He requested a pre-inspection with the city with my husband and me present, had his work inspected before any concrete was poured, and then arranged for the final inspections, which passed with no trouble. After witnessing neighbors deal with a job that had to be redone after an inspection, we were very appreciative of Jared's thoroughness. Along those lines, when a couple unforeseen discrepancies came up between the blueprints and the reality of our deck, Jared quickly shared the information with my husband and me and asked permission to speak directly to the engineer. Issues were resolved promptly. I might add that Jared keeps an *immaculate* job site (I found him scrubbing out some little stain in our driveway today...I'm sure I would never have known it was there). I can only imagine how this translates into his work. If we have carpentry needs in the future, I am sure we'll call on Method Finish. .

Since Jared's quality of work is out there and always give us satisfaction, he has been our first choice to ask whenever we need help with the remodeling. This time he put new dishwasher and garbage disposal in our kitchen. The new dishwasher was little bit taller than old one, so he had to cut off some tiles shorter to create a bigger opening for the new one to go inside. He did such a great job with cutting tiles and putting them back together. He also noticed that some tiles are slightly separated and told us about future water concerns if we didn't take care of it soon. He really pays attention to details and loves to educate customers for their own sake. I highly recommend Jared to everybody. He is a very talented carpenter who completes any projects A+.

My old bathroom ceiling fan was noisy and not very effective. I emailed Jared (I've used him before) and asked for recommendations on the type of bathroom ceiling fan/light to replace the old one. He did recommend a fan/light. I asked if he would do the job. He responded right away and though I was in no real rush, he was able to schedule me between his larger jobs. And because he is so thorough, in the process of the installation, he discovered that the duct leading to the exterior of the building had a bird's nest. And, being Jared, he went and purchased and installed bird blockers to prevent that from ever happening again. For which I am so thankful! What I most appreciate about Jared is his integrity and meticulousness.

Jared was amazing. We had a very good experience with him. He is professional and courteous, paying close attention to details such as leaving our home the way he found it and to the way he would want it in his own home, including winding our hose up in the backyard! He and his team were fast and available to meet our needs for a support beam installed in a short amount of time. He was available by phone or email and aside from one communication break down, was great at staying in touch throughout the project. We would recommend Method Finish Carpentry to anyone considering a remodel. We look forward to working with him again.

Jared did an outstanding job. I have a rather 'unusual' house a little over 100 years old, and if anything can go wrong, it will. Jared quoted an hourly rate rather than a flat rate due to the unknowns, and this worked out great. Among the unknowns hit: - The extractor hood was quite heavy and I had taken out a wall where it was to be hung. Although the wall was non-load bearing, the ceiling wasn't quite level and sagged a little. Jared spotted this and put in some sturdy structural support in the ceiling. - The drywaller hadn't done the best of jobs, and some of the surfaces weren't exactly plumb and level. For the wall with the build-ins Jared had a plasterer he recommended bring the wall out to level. For the hood trim Jared did a great job at contouring/hiding the non-square surface with his trim work. There was one minor mishap where a wall he raised wasn't quite high enough. Even though I blame myself partly (as much of the work was me explaining what I wanted, not having good written plans), Jared took it upon himself to correct the wall height at no charge for his time. I found Jared very easy to work with. He is very relaxed and stress free, yet very professional and thorough. He was great to bounce ideas off and make recommendations when my requirements weren't clear. I'm looking forward to working with him again.

We have been very impressed with Jared from start to finish. He came to the house and we discussed what we wanted done. He sent a detailed estimate the following week as promised. The estimate included the materials options that we had discussed. Once I made my choices, he sent the revised estimate back, then we set an estimated start date. Once the project began, Jared let us know what he would be doing that day and the next. We really appreciated the level of communication. He ran into a problem with the electrical and traced it back to a bad breaker, which he fixed, making sure it was safe before he left for the day. At the end of the project, he explained everything he had done. He did some things that were not a part of the estimate. Jared is a very thoughtful person and the quality of his work reflects that thoughtfulness. We could not be happier and are already planning our next project. Thank you Jared, for everything.

Jared & wife were having their baby right around the time I called for an estimate. I got the estimate, but had to wait several weeks for the work. For awhile, I thought he had forgotten my project and/or bypassed it for bigger jobs. However, he eventually followed up and once on the job, he completed it quickly. The job was thorough & professional. He made it look easy. I have recommended him to others. I've read the other reviews which all seem to be more complex jobs. I have to say that mine was a small repair. Nonetheless, Jared paid attention to details and conducted himself professionally. Well Done!

In just a few hours, Jared practically performed surgery on this door and did outstanding work. The gap is closed and there's almost no evidence he was ever there. The door and frame look perfect. The original plaster around the door was left untouched and no patch work was needed. Jared was professional and patient as we walked through the work together and some other work I needed last minute. My only knock was that we had to reschedule several times, but I understand that's because this was a small job and he was trying to squeeze me in. I would definitely recommend or use him again for other projects.
Description of Work: The front door to my house was the original door when the house was built in 1920. It had a huge gap between the door and the frame that let a ton of cold air in most of the year. I asked Jared to close the gap but preserve the original door and trim.
