Leaf It To Me

Leaf it to me did the thing I respect most of all. When a job does not go well they came and made it right. In the spring of 2013 they installed a new sod lawn. Through the summer it flourished but during the winter it all but died. This past spring they came back and renovated the lawn at very modest extra cost. Their responsiveness and willingness to shoulder responsiblity recommedns them highly.

This was the Best work I have ever had. I am very please on my sprinkler system and hope he will do other work to my yard as I would like Brent and his team to take care of my lawn on a monthly service

The process itself was a breeze to schedule and arrange - they came out to give me an estimate, then I scheduled the work. They were quite prompt about everything and very responsive to any questions I had. When they finished, the yard looked great and I was quite pleased with the results. I was quite impressed that they were able to do the estimate and work within the same week. I'll certainly be availing myself of their services again.

Considering this is the busy season for these types of projects, I think the work progressed in a reasonable time and manner. I am very pleased with the outcome and Brent's willingness to work with me and give me the very best he could within my budget constraints. It was very pleasant to work with his assitant Alisha and Brent and his crew.

The crew came in and went right to work..Worked hard the entire day. All very nice, professional and extremely hard workers. The project didn't get completed in the same day as they had orginally thought and had to come back the following day. The person that was to finish up all the loose ends didn't do that and I had to have them come back again.. Everyone was very responsise, and the job got done promptly therefter - no harm done. I appreciate all the hard work, the yard looks great ! I particularly appreciate your support and professionalism in making sure that the project was completed to both of our satisfactions. Brent and his crew pulled out to 2-3 stubborn old stumps and their deep root system with their truck which I think was more work than anticipated but they did it with no complaint. They built a little rock wall around the entire front flower bed where the stumps were pulled and the side bed which was not expected by me but very much appreciated as they had all the extra rocks they had to purchase. Moodoo was spread in both flower beds and it looks great!

First of all, you have to know that their is no written estimate. The price can easily change after all is said and done so you think you know what it is going to cost but you are surprised at the final total. Second, there is not breakdown on the bill as to how many people for how long, how much did the bark cost, what were the dump fees etc. We brought them back this year because last year, they reallhy did a great job at a very reasonable price. Brent is such a great guy and so easy going. He came over right away and his crew came over the day Brent said they would. We were not home when the crew was here so we did not see what they did until we came home. They did a great job on the hedge, just the way we asked them to. the side yard was beautiful, the bark was laid out exactly how we wanted. The lawn was not mowed and we wanted them to do that because it would be the first one this Spring so it was pretty high. Also the clippings were left over in our neighbors yard. The last thing was that we ordered medium bark and the bill said medium bark but we got fine bark. We asked Brent to have someone come back and clean up the leaves on our neighbors side and someone did but still did not do a very good job, in fact I will have to do it myself. Will not call them back next year.

Brent is one of the friendliest and most easy-going guys I ever met. He's very flexible and cooperative. I wish I could find the phone number of his office assistant on angieslist.com because I don't want to call his cell unnecessarily, as he's so busy on jobs. I'm always impressed with how big and strong he is; he can tackle the toughest jobs with ease. I was very impressed with how he picked up a large, heavy bag of potting soil like it didn't hardly weigh anything at all! He's also willing to do a little bit extra if it makes for a better job, which is a big plus nowadays. Sometimes I wonder, though, if his crews will always trim the bushes and ivy back as promised when they mow. Overall, though, it's great to have a company that shows up mostly when they say they will and do a good job.

Fast workers; need for additional supervision...as trees, vegetation grows, crews overlook need for trimming back growth. Communication needs to be through "Leaf it to me" owner; ineffective otherwise. Workers are pleasant, good workers, industrious.

Quick response to my message for an estimate. Made an appointment within 3 days and arrived on time for estimate and many good suggestions for creating an easy care yard. 3 workers showed up 5 days later, as well as owner, Brett, and completed all the projects we had discussed plus an additional parking pad. They were professional, worked quickly and were flexible during the process including getting a load of gravel and completeing parking space. Easy to work with and knowledgeable.

The job took two days - his crew showed up on time did the work efficiently and returned the second day and did it again. The yard had not been properly taken care of for over two decades. The crew also transplanted some Laurel to allow it to grow into a new hedge along the back of the property.

Excellent. The 4-person crew worked the entire time that they were here, even during a substantial downpour.

Brent came over right away to do an estimate. He had the job done within days and it looked great! I am going to call him today to have him come and do more work for me. He is very friendly and easy to do business with.

Made an appointment for yard work to be done, and they were a no show. Never called me, and never tried to reschedule is there was a problem. I wouldn't give them the time of day!

I identified 3 landscapers through Angie's List & another source to evaluate the job & bid Leaf It To Me didn't show up for our appointment however I didn't really care for the other 2 so I gave them another shot. He most the most sense discussing the work & his bid was competitive The crew was professional, worked hard, and did a good job

very well - had three estimates, the others were in excess of $3500. Brent assembled the crews to get the job done quickly and the yard looks better than it ever has. Only minor issues - a few things were left undone (some trees were not trimmed; the sideyard was largely untouched) but not sure it was communicated to the crews (and it was not listed on the written quote he gave me earlier in the day). Brent did not come back later on in the day to check on the crews' progress though they got 95% done of what I wanted for what I consider to be a reasonable price.

The owner was the first of 3 people to return my call. He came over that evening; others took a few days to come over. (By the time they came over, he had finished the work.) He gave me a quote and that's exactly what they charged. His workers arrived promptly, worked hard for much of the day, did a beautiful job without his supervision. Once before I hired someone to do the same thing, and they did not leave the hedge nearly as tidy. I was very impressed with their professional, friendly, affordable service.

Courteous, efficient, friendly. And they smile at special requests and get them done right away.

They were wonderful. Brent understood my situation and got a crew out on the weekend to clean out flower beds, weed, edge and mow. I would certainly use them again!

I used this company last year for similar work and it went well so I called Brent again this June to have more work done on the overgrown hillside in my back yard. I told him I wanted to use his Angie's List coupon for 5 hours of clean up for $125 with all other services at 15% off. I also spoke to his office assistant, Leanna, about this job and some possible future work. I mentioned the coupon discount to her as well. Brent and I agreed by telephone that I would pay by the hour for this work rather than a set price. He said his normal rate is $30 per hour but that the discount rate would be $25 per man hour. I asked if he would be coming with the crew and he said he would stop by to get them started but would then leave. On the scheduled day a crew of 3 men arrived and began work at 9:00 am. Brent did not come with them. They worked steadily for a few hours then one man said he was leaving to go into town for lunch. The other 2 continued to work while he was gone. He was gone for 30 minutes and when he returned all 3 men took a 30 minute lunch break. They went back to work until 3pm. After they quit work they called Brent and spoke to him for some time. Then they told me that I owed $ $586. I gave them a check rather than argue with them but I called Brent and told him I thought I was overcharged. The crew had been at my home for 6 hours. One man took an hour lunch break and the other two took 30 minutes breaks. Therefore they worked a total of 16 man hours. 16 x $25 = $400. With tax the total should have been $434.40. Brent argued with me and said things like he had to pay them from the time they arrived at his place of business. I asked if he charged for travel time and he said no. The conversation was difficult as he was on a cell phone either driving or at a job site so we ended the call with no resolution. I later discovered that the crew had left some brush piles around that should have been hauled away and I found they had broken a large trunk branch off a rhododendron and just left it without telling me. I sent a detailed email requesting a refund and when I did not receive a response I sent a written letter. I got no response to the letter so I called their office. I spoke to Leanna and she said Brent had received my letter. She agreed that it sounds like I was overcharged but said I would need to talk to Brent. I called Brent and left a voicemail. He has not returned my call or responded to the letter. The only reasonable interpretation of offering 5 hours of work for $125 is that it would be 5 hours of work at my home. If a business needs to charge for travel time it should be stated up front or factored into the hourly rate charged.

I have been using Leaf It To Me for over a year. When Brent is on site, the work goes smoothly and is done beautifully. However, as he gets busy, he sends crews out to do the work. This does not go well. They do not show up when scheduled, they do not do the scheduled work, they are not careful with the plants - breaking two of my plants twice when just moving a hose. I have e mailed, spoken to and written Brent about the problems but they continue so I am done. It is too bad; Brent is a pleasure to work with.

All Mr. Jones had to do was to repeat his absolute PERFECT performance that he demonstrated back on 09-21-2012. Again that reveiw was posted here on 09/22/2012. This time his men came finally came to my home a day after Mr. Jones clearly stated they would. The resultant job was absoluttely TERRIBLE. Mr. Jones did not follow through at all with the performance of his men this time although I called him twice!!!!! The fee was resonable, even competitive, but because my ivy was trimmed horribly, my two sections of hedges were trimmed horribly, I reduced the fee paid to Mr. Jones by $100. The only reason the tree was trimmed properly was becuause I had to baby feed his head man during the entire course. I had to watch his men waste time talking on the "cell phone." They took 1.5 hours for lunch and still one of them wanted to use my bathroom in my private home. This has never happened before. I never let any one inside my home. I am no better than any one else, but I do respect ones privacy. I was so completely satisfied that with his previvous performance on my property, that I left Mr. Jones his full fee in the form of a check for $600 under the front door mat. Mr. Jones came by my home, removed the check, but left me a note. His men ever showed on the date that he had promised. I never leave a payment to any one because of all the "scams." He stated this check would not be cashed until I was !00% satisfied. Never, Never, PREPAY PEOPLE UNTIL THE WORK IS DONE NO MATTER HOW PLEASED YOU MAY BE WITH FORMER WORK!!!!! NEVER, NEVER. I would have paid the full $600, but Mr. Jones stated that he wanted his full "DUMP FEE." Hoever, I was not fully statisfied. I stated to Mr. Jones if you can not come and trim more of my hedges the way I want it done, then I will not reduce his fee. He never gave me a signed written estimate on this job either. Always make sure you obtain your bids on paper and both of you sign it. I did stop payment on this check. This account will be closed in the next few days. Stop payments on check expire in six months. Mr.Jones although you refused to give me back my check you might as well tear it up as the account will be clased very soon and a lot sooner than six months. Obviously this is more work and inconvenience to me the customer. Oh well, that is the way it goes some times. I did write this person a new check for $500. He was not happy. I could care less. His men were constantly talking and using the cell phone. They did not arrive until Tuesday and thank the LORD, I was home. I had to spoon feed these wrok men becuse if I had not been here it would have been more of a disaster. I didn't take a look at the work until I suspected that some thing was wrong. This led me supervising the work all day, and they still did not finish until the next day. I might as well should have done the work myself. I did ask Mr. Jones, why did he not SEND THE SAME CREW TO MY HOME THAT HAD DONE SIMILAR WORK ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2012???? The only good experience I had was with his receptionist that actually talked me into doing businness with him again. But after placing a call to Mr. Jones with his negative attitude, at her request he was not appologetic at all. He damanded his entire fee of $600. TO HECK WITH MR. BRENT JONES. I have found another company to take care of my complete property now. I quarantee you I will not pay them until all work is done each time....See you later and I hope this helps any one that reads this review. Its no lie - ITS THE TRUTH!!! WHY SHOULD I LIE!!!!!

I want to say up front that the work Brent's crew did is absolutely fantastic. They cleared out a wildly overgrown area very quickly and did a better job than I could have imagined. The downside is the communication, after getting in touch with Brent and leaving a voicemail identifying what I was looking for (an estimate for this project), I missed a call from him a few days later and got no response after trying to call him back. Later that afternoon I looked outside and found that a crew was mowing my lawn. This was a bit frustrating as all I had been looking for was an estimate on clearing out the overgrown area, though the guys who did the mow did a great job on my yard and cleaning up the flowerbeds. After explaining my frustrations to Brent I did receive an estimate and went ahead with them to clear out the overgrown area, and again his crew did an incredible job. The communication is definitely an issue, having a crew show up and perform work that I had not asked for or authorized and expect payment was rather frustrating. In the end I would hire them again because the work the crew did on what I was looking for was fantastic, I would just stress making sure Brent agrees to understand what it is you are looking for, whether that is an estimate or actual work.

Special gift for new parents with no time to get everything done -

I could not have asked for a more caring owner Brent and administrater LeAnne. A lot was going on with the passing of my mom and I just told him what I wanted and he let me know it would be taken care of and not worry, then LeAnne gave me a big hug. I started with the Special 5 hrs for $125 but they did such a good job and I could tell there was so much integrety and caring that I trusted him to just do it all so I would not have to deal with the yard at all this year. They went above and beyond what I thought they would do. The workers were so quick, friendly and skillful that they did little extra things that were creative and beautiful. I can't wait to spend more time outdoors and really enjoy the scenery. Thank you Brent and all of your workers. I will call you for my next project soon.
