I stopped using this service when I paid for work that was incomplete and had to be redone. The owner was unwilling to make it right. I paid him, but decided it was time to end the relationship.

We've got a senior rate so it's like $40 a visit. They don't speak English really well so there are occasionally communication issues, nothing major. Sometimes we might have to ask twice for them to do something, but that gets done and done well. Their pricing is excellent. I have been using them for about 4 years now. They are prompt, thorough, and reasonably priced.
Description of Work: Leaf It To Me comes in and cuts the grass and cleans it up every 2 weeks.
Brent Jones has a hard working crew and I was satisfied with the work that was done. You're getting a first class system on a beer budget. My only issue was the planting of shrubs and Bamboo could have had a little more TLC and I had to add additional soil for them to survive. If you want to pay top dollar and have perfection, chose another company. For my money it was worth hiring "Leaf it To Me" to do a good job for me.
Description of Work: Complete sprinkler system of a large backyard, landscaping of the backyard (large planter box built and had Bamboo installed to create a privacy screen from our adjoining neighbors). Additional tree planting in the backyard. Removal of weeds, mulching. Re-Due of front yard sprinkler system. Added additional irrigation line for coverage of shrubs. Went from a 2 zone system to 7 total.

They did an okay job until they broke off the end of my gutter, broke my rain chain and didn't bother to fix either.. I had to call owner and request they come back and fix. they fixed the gutter but not the rain chain because they lost some of the pieces so they could not hang it properly..

Had a quote for just under $300.00 and he gave me an invoice of $484.00. The overrun was never discussed. The workers were supposed to show up 3 times and never showed, I had to call and ask where and when they were coming. The owner promised me they would come on a Monday..finally..they showed up on Tuesday. The professional thing to do is to let the person know there will be a cost overrun to get it approved. Brent did not. No apologies, no refund.

I wasn't at home so I was worried that they wouldn't do all I needed done, but they were great. Two guys cleaned up the entire side and back of my lot and not a weed was standing when I got home. The only other service I wanted was to have some arbor vitae and a large shrub trimmed on top, but I didn't mention it when I called so it didn't get done. This is my second year using Leaf It To Me for cleanup and they do a great job with conscientious workers.

Everything went as planned except when it was time to turn the sprinklers on in the spring. They had rewired one of the zones onthe system and the water stays on all the time. Have called and recieved a call back 2 to 3 weeks later. Siad they would get the scheudler to call mwe to make an appointment. Did not hear back for 3 more weeks. Made an appointment and took a half day off work and nobody showed up. Have not heared back since. When dealing with Brent eveything got done right away. Now we are dealing with some lady and nothing gets done. Still wating for it to be resolved and will not recomend this company ever again.

The crew does a fine job mowing, edging and weeding. They always oblige to our reasonable requests and leave the yard looking great. We have never had a problem with communicating with the workers when they come. Brent and the office are always quick to answer our calls or quickly return them. Any issues we have our resolved quickly and generally to our satisfaction. Communication has always been best with the office. We have had a couple of errors with billing but again the office takes care of it quickly. On a few occasions the crew did not make it on the scheduled day but always came the next day. I would highly recommend Leaf it to me for mowing services.

While I was out of town, Brent and I talked on the telephone. He said he would swing by the house and call when he arrived. So we talked on the phone while he was walking around my house looking at what needed to be done. He quoted an estimate of $600. On May 8, the day after the work was done, a lady called and ask how they were going to get paid. She said the cost was $874, $274 more than the estimate. When I ask why, she started to describe all the work that was performed. I stopped her because it was a one-way conversation. What could I say except he said it would cost $600. The neighbors said there were two guys that worked, "most of the day". I still have not seen nor received an invoice. So Brent is a really poor estimator or I was gouged. I expect it was the latter. Since I wasn't on site to observe the job, I was in no position to evaluate why the overcharge. I would only hire him again if I were present while the work was done, and would hold him to his estimate.

We hired 2 men for 4 hours. Even though we have hard rock clay Covington soil, we had expected they would have gotten more holes dug and actually have done some transplanting. The foreman worked at a reasonable speed. If we had two workers of his quality I would give Leaf It To Me higher marks. Unfortunately, the second worker was on his phone or checking his phone a large part of the time. It wasn't until I asked the foreman if the worker had an expectant wife, did he speak to the worker. The original price was good, but not when you factor in the amount of work not done by the second worker. Professionalism: As hard working and friendly as the foreman was, he needs management training. He should never have allowed the second worker to be on his phone. The second man should have more common sense to know that he shouldn't be using his phone while being paid to work. I did call the scheduler and let her know of our experience. She said she would relay the information onto the owner.
Description of Work: Dug 20 post holes. Moved 20 railroad ties about 60 yards into a pile. Dug 4 holes into which we will transplant a shrub and perennials. Dug out the roots of a lilac we cut down. Dug a hole in lawn to explore why the ground was sinking. Chopped away at a rotten maple stump.

The crew started about 8:30am and, before that afternoon, our yard is BRAND NEW. I was in a quandary about the yard -- looked neglected because it was. Brent's crew came in and re-constructed out entire yard -- front & back -- like a miracle! So .... if you have a neglected yard that needs a facelift, this will do it. The crew weeded and pruned (gotta say the tree guy they have knows his business) to really make the whole yard beautiful. They also added some pavers to the side of the house, and were thoroughly professional throughout the process. Next time I need a real yard cleanup, I will definitely use LEAF IT TO ME.
Description of Work: Brent's crew transformed our entire yard -- IN ONE DAY!
UPDATE: Well that was disappointing. Several of the plants put in the front didn't take because the guy who planted them didn't breakup the root balls, and others weren't planted properly (not in the 'soil', just left in the mulch layer) and they died. Contacted the folks at Leaf it to Me about that, and they came out and took the plants back...3 weeks later they showed up with replacements...then charged $200 FOR the plants and labor to replace them. NOT COOL. If you admit you screwed up planting them, then change me to replace them (and labor time)...not cool. Have to say Brent and his crew did a fabulous job! He had asked what I wanted in the front, I told him I wasn't a green thumb, and look at the neighbors and do what he thought would fit. He was GREAT, gave me hardy easy to manage native northwest plants. The front and sides look GREAT now and blend into the neighborhood. They hauled out most of the (huge) pile of gravel, just leaving some for borders, decoration and water drainage areas. VERY nice job. The back yard was also a great job. It was simpler (planting wise) but a bigger job in the sense the grassed part of the back was VERY uneven (trying to mow just 'bounced' along the ground) and the back half of that was a total torn up mess due to a previous chicken coup. They brought in LOTS of new soil/top/seeds and leveled the upper back and filled in and leveled the lower back. MUCH MUCH nicer now. Also trimmed and reshaped several old shrubs that had gotten out of hand, more even looking now (NOT butchered, just trimmed back nicely). Very nice job guys! Thank you!
Description of Work: UPDATE: Tried to have them deal with dead plants. Had them remove a front yard area (40x20 and two sides) that had been 'graveled' in by the previous owners who didn't want to take care of plants. So all the yards in the neighborhood were landscaped/green...except for my front which was all gravel (would have looked ok for Arizona but NOT Seattle). Also the backyard was patchy, uneven, and the back half was torn up because previous owners had a chicken coup area fenced off...no real glass, unlevel. Had them remove all the gravel and add bark/plants to the front and level/re-grass the back yard.

short answer..amazing and fast. Long answer - Brent has a mind for design concepts, he really listened to what my needs and wants were and made them better with his ideas. I had a couple of other companies give estimates, but knew Brent was the guy! He and his crew were on time, fast, professional and hard working to say the least! Without a doubt I would recommend him to everyone, don't call anyone else.

They did an okay job with most of the basic stuff--we weren't paying for a high-end landscaping service, so we could only complain so much. Their crews are pretty clearly day laborers, not expert gardeners, so they made the kind of mistakes that people who don't know gardening would make: they would chop down and pull up stuff we'd planted, and leave the weeds to go wild. But what finally did it was that I had two shrubs that have a lot of sentimental value--gifts from a favorite aunt, who's now dead. Every winter they kept "pruning" them--actually, whacking them down to almost nothing. They did NOT need pruning at all, but they certainly didn't need that kind of assault. So I told their boss: tell your guys to just leave those shrubs alone. Any maintenance they need, I will do it. Next year, they whacked them back again. So we told them in writing, we told them by phone, we told them in person, again and again: DO NOT TOUCH THOSE SHRUBS. Nothing. Nada. No matter how they look, no matter what you think, DO NOT TOUCH THOSE SHRUBS. We will NEVER, EVER want you to do anything whatsoever to them. Just pretend they aren't even there. If in doubt, return to the previous instruction: DO NOT TOUCH THOSE SHRUBS. *EVER.* It wasn't a complicated request. It shouldn't have been that hard. I can't believe we actually gave them as many chances as we did. After the third time (or was it the fourth?) that they butchered my shrubs, we said, that's it. We're done. I will cut the lawn myself with cuticle scissors before I let these people in my yard again.

They are professtional and step up to take care of things as needed. We have a pretty large area so they do a nice job of rotating the various maintenance jobs of our landscape to keep it looking sharp.
Description of Work: We have hired the company to do our maintenance on our lawn and then have them do special projects from time to time.
Best results ever! My backyard needed the spider infested bark removed and groundwork laid for flagstone. They removed the old material and left the driveway and pathway clean after the job. They leveled the gravel out so well and had a sample of the flagstone and made sure that it would lay flush to the cement patio. The burm that was created is perfect for the space. The finished job looks better than I imagined. The price was extremely reasonable for all of the work done. Everyone was super professional. I would use this company again in heartbeat. A+++++
Description of Work: Leaf it to Me cleared out all of the old 'beauty' bark and also a couple of inches of dirt down the side of the house and the backyard. They re-purposed some of the soil to create a flower bed/burm around the fence line and added good compost on the top. They also added a layer of gravel and leveled it out giving me a foundation so I can lay flagstone.

The crew arrived at 7am and started working immediately. The sod arrived shortly afterwards. They worked HARD the entire day, smoothing out the ground, roto tilling the ground, doing the prep work for the sod, and laying down the sod. The stairs were fixed and the river rocks smoothed out and made neat and pretty. The trees were trimmed, including the branches over the neighbor's yard. Bark was laid down and everything all smoothed out. The work was excellent. The price of the work and the amount of work done was in alignment and very reasonable. I am very happy I chose Brent Jones and Leaf it to Me.
Description of Work: Brent came over to give me an estimate of the work to be done. He worked with me on design and gave me some ideas that we incorporated. I have a partially done irrigation system that he worked with me to dig the trenches for the pipe. I had some uneven ground that had been torn up so needed it smoothed out and then sod put down, trees needed to be trimmed and a rhoddie was dying. The brick steps had been torn up and they were able to fix it to almost like new.

Brent responded quickly and gave me a fair estimate, which he stuck to even though it rained h****** the day of the work. The guys arrived at 9:00 a.m. and worked until 3:45, slowed down a bit by the sudden heavy showers. They were supposed to leave by 3:00 but stayed to finish. They worked hard, didn't waste time, asked me to check several times, and cleaned up well before leaving. I would definitely hire them again for clean-up. For actual yard care and planting, I would hire someone who knew what they were doing. Weeds were pulled out quickly but the roots weren't dug up. And not enough paper was laid under the mulch. But the really heavy work was done efficiently and all hauled away. The clean-up job was great!

BEST MONEY I'VE SPENT IN YEARS! We have a big yard (1/3 of an acre) and over time the mature landscaping had become overgrown and run over with blackberries. It was a huge job for my husband and I to do it on our own so we called in Leaf it to Me after reading all their great reviews. Brent arrived right on time, he listened and made suggestions when needed. Before he left that afternoon he was able to give us a cost and an estimated time of when they could get out for the job. We called several other companies just to "check" his price and were surprised when we couldn't even get other companies to show up for their appts! The job was to take 1 day and start at 9 AM. My husband and I actually made a bet that there was no possible way they could finish this job in ONE DAY! That morning the crew was in my yard, and working, by 9 AM on the dot. Brent and Lisa both showed up to make sure things were getting started on time, introduced me to the team, made sure the crew knew what was expected and 5 crew members got to work. I have never seen 5 people work so hard! The work they accomplised in an 8 hour day was more than I could have done in 5 summers! They even fixed an old broken pond that hasn't worked in years. Amazing. And their pruning and weeding was perfect. Never lost an "accidental" plant or branch. Brent and Lisa came by a couple more times during the day and any questions or concerns I had were handled immediately and with a great attitude. In the end my yard looked absolutey amazing. There wasn't a piece of trash left behind or mulch out of place. I will use this company again and recommend them to everyone I know. GREAT SERVICE!!!!

I hired Brent's team initially to cut down a large pine tree in the front yard that had outgrown its location, to remove about 90' of fence and to remove the dying evergreens on the left side of the yard. His team accomplished this in one day. They dug up the roots of the pine tree so we could plant other items there. They dug out the dying evergreens and their roots, dismantled the fence and dug up the fence post concrete foundations. They cleaned up well and removed all the debris. The work took all day and cost about $1200. Based on that good experience, Bret and I discussed what we wanted to do with the rest of the yard. He does not do drawings or artist renderings but he if very good at listening to your ideas and suggesting approaches. We reached a verbal agreement on what was to be done in less than an hour. I asked for a written quote for the work and his office sent one by email. Bred does not respond by email but his assistant does. The initial quote for the Wisteria trellis was higher than I expected and we worked together to reduce it. He suggested cutting back on the foundations for the posts and I purchased the materials at Home Depot for less than his original estimate. The work began on Monday. Because of limited access to the back yard, no mechanized equipment could be used so he had enough men to do all the work with wheel barrows and hand tools. Bret expected to finish in 4 days and the pace of progress was amazing but It actually took about 8 days to finish the last details. By the 5th day, the walls we had requested were built but we added some additional work and some details that extended the project. Bret had ordered too much stone and had some very good suggestions on how to use it that we liked. He built a complex set of steps down to the lower graden and 3 additions to the upper terrace, one square garden in the middle and two semi-circular bump out gardens on the upper wall. The effect was much more appealing than the straight walls we had originally envisioned. He also installed 3 courses of steps on the left side of the house in a different area, using the same stone. His men repaired numerous problems with our irrigation system that were not part of the original project. They also mulched all the flower beds, including ones not included in the project. There was a cost overrun of about $3000 including tax but he provided a detailed invoice for each item that we added to the project and all the prices seemed very reasonable. When you are working with Bret, be prepared to listen to his suggestions and to give your opinion. Be sure you have 10-15% leeway in your budget to take advantage of some of his good suggestions. Do not expect an ironclad "aircraft specification" contract. Be prepared to work on a handshake. Bret is good a describing what he will do and he does what he says and gets it done quickly. His workers do great work and he is a good coach. The quality of the result is superb.
Description of Work: My back yard sloped abruptly to an ugly fence that was covered with Wisteria partially supported by a rotting, flimsy trellis. There was a small rose garden surrounded by a semi-circular wall in the middle of the hill. Because of the slope, the grass was difficult to cut and there was no garden space. I wanted gardens similar to what my neighbor had with walled terraces across the back of the property and a more level lawn. I also wanted a sturdy trellis for the Wisteria vines and removal of a fence and some dying evergreens on the left side.

Brent's crew did a really good job. Our lot is a long, triangular lot on a very steep hill that had a lot of overgrown ground cover and ivy that we had never really done much with. By the time Brent's crew of 5 - 6 guys were done, our yard looked better than it ever had in the 16 years we've lived here. Not only was it cleaner, but Brent's crew cleared out around the 5 flowering cherry trees on our lot, and planted some house plants that he picked out on his own. All in all a great job!
Description of Work: Leaf it to me did extensive yard clean up, created a new fenced garden area, removed some small trees and cut down some larger tree branches overhanging our driveway.
