+ 2 moreHoward, the Project Manager, has always been informative and helpful regarding all our concerns. He did the proposal and scheduled the work for the clean out and partial sewer line repair promptly. It is always a pleasure to work with him. Derek snaked the laundry line and outside kitchen sink line which has a "Y". He was able to get a snake around the "Y", which many plumbers say they can't do, and clear the line. He is always pleasant, professional and goes the extra mile.

+ 0 moreI think overall it went well. There were two disappointments. One was that they gave two different estimates depending on which route we decided to go with to fix it. The price came out more than I expected. Later the city came out and it did not meet regulations that they had to come back to fix. The owner did give us several options of ways to repair it which I appreciated. I felt he was also very responsive as he came out right away.
Description of Work: We had a leaking pipe outside underneath the ground. They came out and fixed the problem.

+ -1 moreI am submitting the review now because I am so disappointed in the result. The work was performed a couple years ago, and at the time, we chose to overlook some simple mistakes. (shower faucet and head not the ones we ordered, one toilet flush handle on the opposite side of what we thought we were getting, faucet plug not ever working etc) This was a mistake on our part. Almost everything has now fallen apart: Two of the toilets are leaking down through the main floor ceiling; the kitchen faucet fell apart almost instantly, and we have had to put it together ourselves several times. The plugs have never worked. Considering what we spent, this is very disappointing. By the way, all our old existing items still continue to function well - the problems are only with the items installed by Fischer. They were recommended to us, but the quality of work in our case was simply not there.
Description of Work: We had 3 new toilets installed, a new free-standing sink & faucet installed, new shower and tub faucet installed, and a new kitchen faucet installed. Part of these items were pre-purchased by us and on-hand, so were not part of the cost.

+ 0 moreThe company was very responsive and showed up at our door Monday morning within 1/2 hour of being called. It was a huge clog because we are the bottom unit of a 4 story condo and our drain is the end of the line. The plumber took plenty of time getting our drain unclogged. The plumber was friendly, thorough and cleaned up after he was finished.
Description of Work: The plumber unclogged our kitchen sink drain.

+ 0 moreWe have two sinks in the kitchen and it appeared both were plugged. Plumber tried to clear out the line from the sink closest to the main drain line but after putting in many feet of snake without hitting an obstruction decided that was not going to work. Plumber decided to go up on roof and clear the line through one of the plumbing vents. He thought that had worked but when we tested it again it had not fixed the problem. Plumber went back up on roof and tried to clear through a second roof vent. This time it did work. Plumber advised it would be good idea to flush the drain lines once a week by filling the sink with water and then draining it all at once. Service call was late on Sunday morning. Plumber had to get out of bed to respond but arrived in a reasonable time and took precautions to keep kitchen clean while working. Price was a bit high, but had been warned that there was a Sunday surcharge.

Description of Work: Provided fair estimate for re-piping and new water heater. I probably would have used them, but another plumber with excellent ratings provided much lower price than any of several estimates. In retrospect, I'm not sure I got better service.

+ 0 moreDerek the plumber was great from start to finish. He arrived on time (after a warning call from the office) and set to work on the two drains that were giving us trouble. Snaked both drains and also cleaned up after himself! Everything was put back where it was without being asked. He even fixed a drain that had been stuck for years. I would have Fischer back for any plumbing problems in the future.
Description of Work: Cabled both of our slow draining drains, then tested lines to make sure they were flowing freely.

+ 2 moreThis was not only a weekend, but Labor Day weekend! Many companies were not available because of the long weekend. The ones that were available seemed very expensive, but that is the price you have to pay on a holiday weekend. We decided on Fischer Plumbing in Ballard and they sent Derek out who had been working a very long day. He was very pleasant and solved our problem in about a half-hour. Their rate was $225 the first hour and $180 the second. Reading some of the reviews of other companies made me wonder if we would get someone "honest". We did and I highly recommend Derek. He works "24/7" so your chances of getting him are good.
Description of Work: Cut through roots that were causing a backup of sewer line.

+ 1 moreDuring re-landscaping work, it was discovered that my water line pipe should be replaced. I contacted Fisher through Angie's list. They promptly called me back and chose to give me an estimate over the phone of 4 hours work but Time and materials which means it could end up costing more. The person on the phone seemed knowledgeable. I got two other estimates; both on-site. One estimate was significantly higher with a much different approach and the other was a fixed bid estimate but with the same approach as Fishers. The latter company was a little higher than Fisher but as they came on-site and presented a fixed bid, I felt more comfortable hiring them.

+ 0 moreFischer plumbing charges by the hour, which is what we wanted. However, they sent two people instead of the one expected. The first was inexperienced and we would have been better off without him. He drove the snake through a plastic L-shaped connector, and it had to be replaced. We were charged for a fancy copper replacement set ($170), but only part of the set was installed. The rest "didn't fit". When I called the office so as not to be charged for the partially used set, they were unhelpful. The whole bill was over $700 for about 3 hours work. I would consider a $300 bill reasonable.
Description of Work: Ran snake down three drains and fixed leaking faucet.

Description of Work: After years of battling a prone-to-plug toilet I decided to get a Toto (decision made after another of many calls to do the deed on the old toilet. Sometimes the ol' toilet auger didn't work.)) I mentioned this to Deiek (plumber) and learned that Fischer has the Toto. Deiek came back the next day to remove toilet and found that the toilet flange was bad and almost non-existent. No charge for that work---and he had another plumber come out (who had the flange work in his truck) to do the installing. That plumber (Armando) spent an hour fixing and installing----very careful with clean-up. After he left I notice the new toilet tilted a bit and called back. He was there in short order and fixed that problem---and it was late in the day. The price reflects the cost of toilet and plumbing work. I've used Fischer many times (including a broken sewer line from the toilet out back----ALWAYS the toilet!) a few years ago with great results.

+ 2 moreEstimator was able to come at the requested day and time, and returned me an estimate within 2 days. (the estimate came from the office person whom I do not think is the best, as they misspelled my name wrong, didn't reply to emails, etc. Because I've had good experiences with Fischer in the past, I'm not letting this one person influence my review too much.) Work could be scheduled when I wanted. Two workers showed up exactly on time and went right to work. They are not finished yet but I imagine it will be professional and well done as always.
Description of Work: Fischer is upgrading all my old plumbing to new copper plumbing. They have done a lot of work for me before, large jobs (replacing my entire sewer line to the street) and small jobs (unclogging a drain), and they are very reliable and do a good job. As a very large company, you can be pretty certain of getting service when you need it. I've gotten a plumber out for a clogged drain in under an hour. They are always quick courteous, and clean up after themselves!

Description of Work: Having used Fischer before I called and made an appointment for 5 days later to have an estimate made for doing the plumbing for a basement remodel. The appointment was for the following Tues from 12pm to 2pm. After no one arrived I called Fishcher at 4pm and asked the location of their estimator. The receptionist said that he had come to our house and "NO ONE WAS HOME." I questioned on how that could happen, I was home all day, my wife and two children were home all day, I had a carpenter and electrician working in my garage and basement(same level), the GARAGE DOOR WAS OPEN, my carpenter's truck was in the driveway, my electrician's truck was parked in front of my house, my front and back door bells worked, my home phone worked (he did not call to see where I was), my cell phone worked, had two other estimators found us at home that day, and yet he didn't find anyone home? The receptionist could not explain what had happened, so I asked if I may speak with their estimater. She said that he was no longer availalbe that he had left for the day and would be out of town until next Monday and he was the only estimator they had. Let's see, Tues through Monday? One week out of town, sounds like vacation to me, and it started early while I waited for him. Taking vacation is fine, and even a phone call explaining that would have been fine too, but to be told that no one was home was not the truth.
