Contacted them at a kiosk in a shopping mall. they came out to give us an estimate. we agreed to the price. they scheduled the job to work around our travel. came as advertised and completed as advertised.

Overall, the install was a good experience. The only negative was the sales person mis-measured the flooring in the hallway. The installers called the company, explained what was needed to be corrected, and explained to us there would not be any flooring cost to us. The only additional charge to us was about $100 to cover adding subflooring in the hallway, and we knew this was a possibility as the sales person had mentioned it. My wife and agreed to proceed and installation continued. The installers (2) worked around 11 hours this day with only a 1/2 hour break for lunch. They were friendly and were very diligent in all aspects of the job, they were true PROFESSIONALS. I did not get there names, but Empire Today needs to say thank you to them as well as the thanks we gave them. We definitely are happy with our new flooring!
Description of Work: Remove and replace carpeting in the living room and dining room. Remove and replace carpeting in the hallway with vinyl flooring to replace it. And replace linoleum in the entry and kitchen areas with vinyl flooring.

Description of Work: Last weekend we scheduled an appointment with Empire Today. Last night was our appointment date, Matt Griffin, Sales Representative for Empire Today. He came by on time and well prepared. We were interested in vinyl flooring and carpeting and he showed Empire's product line to us explaining all the advantages and disadvantages of different types of carpeting and flooring, measured the square footage of the flooring area, and gave us a price quote. We were very satisfied with his presentation, but his price quote was just a little high. With a bit of bartering between him and his boss and working it out with us we came to an agreement on product and price. At this point in the process we are extremely satisfied. I will write another review after the installation is complete.

Matt was on-time, professional and gave us many options to meet our needs and our budget. I am looking forward to having the carpet installed. I will be sure to post an update when the installation is complete. The installation was great. The showed up early in the day, moved all of the heavy furniture, removed and hauled the old carpet, and installed the new carpet. The cleaned up, vacuumed and placed the furniture back in the living room. They were very nice and fast. The entire process took less than 3 hours. After they left, I went ahead and vacuumed to see how well they actually cleaned up, and I picked up almost nothing! I would not hesitate to use them again!!
Description of Work: Matt Griffin came out from Empire Today to estimate a carpet install/purchase. He measured the rooms and gave me prices for two different carpets that I was interested in. On March 7, 2012, Empire Today installed my new carpet. They called around 8am and showed up around 9:30am to perform the installation.

I made an appointment for the salesman to come out on 2/17 between 9:00 and 11:00. He arrived at 9:15 and apologized for being and quot;late.and quot; He had plenty of samples for me to look at of both carpet and vinyl. He explained the differences in the carpet and made suggestions for colors that would go together well with the vinyl. He quickly measured the house and gave me instructions for what needed to be moved before the installers came. I thought the price was a little high, but I really wanted the convenience of next-day one-day service. The installers called about an hour before they arrived to let me know they were on their way. After confirming they had the right colors of carpet and vinyl, they went to work. Within minutes they had the furniture moved, doors off and were ripping out the old carpet. They were fast and efficient. They finished the whole house in about 8 1/2 hours, and it looks great. They vacuumed the carpets and cleaned the vinyl. They also hauled away the old carpet and padding.
Description of Work: Replaced carpet for two bedrooms, living room, dining room, two halls and stairs along with new vinyl for a bathroom and entryway.

Joe Harvey came to my home one evening and gave me an estimate, showed me samples, measured the floor. I was impressed by the carpeting I picked, which was half corn husks. we talked about the price. He was able to make a little adjustment if I displayed a yard sign and submitted an Angie's List report. I opted for the financing for 12 months without interest, filled out that paperwork and Joe got the financing approved that evening I changed my mind about the color, called the next day and easily had that changed. Installers came out the next Sat so I would be home. They were here about six hours and did a very nice job and acted professionally. Cleaned the area thoroughly. The smell was not bad, even right away.That was two weeks ago and I've had many compliments on the carpeting. It makes a huge difference in the basement, warmer, better looking, more finished look.

My only issue is that once the laminent was in - it didn't look the same as the sample - at this time, I really dislike my Kitchen - but that has nothing to do with Empire. I would totally use them again. One thing to consider is, the price is high but they help with furniture, clean up and you're only disrupted a day - whereas if you do the work yourself - it can be several days to a week. I really liked them!
Description of Work: I had laminent installed in my living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. Everything was great - it took a long time and I would say that the men were there from about 10-12 hours - which I was fine with.

A few days ago I called Empire Today to get an estimate for replacing our bedroom carpet. I was asked if I was a decision maker during the conversation, to which I replied yes. What wasn't specified when I made the appointment, was that a decision had to be made THE DAY OF the estimate on the date the carpet would need to be replaced - whiich would have to be the next day or shortly thereafter. The sales rep arrived and measured our room. I then asked about the pricing, to which she asked when we would like the work done. I advised we were in the process of getting bids and at that point, she became incredibly snooty. She advised that she could not provide a quote since the prices changed all the time. She then proceeded to act very annoyed that we would even schedule an estimate when I could not make a decision on timing while she was there. I told her yes, I am a decision maker but neither my husband or I were ready to get anything installed in the next few days. She acted very agitated, arguing with me that her notes specified I was a decision maker, and that appointments could only be made if decision makers were present. What she did not understand, and I tried to explain, was that there is a fundamental difference between being a decision maker and requiring the customer to make a commitment the day of an estimate. Had I known that we had to commit to an immediate date when the appointment was made, then I would NOT have made the appointment. I had no intention of wasting her time, which she openly displayed just occured. She refused to provide an estimate since I could not commit to the sale at that moment. I asked for a ballpark which she finally provided, then again emphasized that they were not to provide quotes unless we scheduled the installation that day. What troubled me more than anything was her disposition. She acted argumentative and talked down to me. She was the rudest and snobbiest sales person I have ever encountered. There is a way to explain process to customers without talking down to them - it's called Customer Service.

We needed to replace carpet in the family room and hall due to some pet damage (chewing) and because it was geting old and we wanted to change the color anyway. We had used Empire in the past for our laminate kitchen floor, so we contacted them again to quote on the carpet. I suppose we could have obtained other quotes or tried to find alternative providers (this was before I knew about Angie's list!) but Empire is just so darn fast and easy! The sales guy was fine and brought in a bunch of samples based on what we said was important to us. When we rejected a couple because they weren't very soft, he went out and brought in a different sample that was very soft. In the end, there were three possible options we were happy with in terms of look and feel, so it came down to color and price. We liked the color of the carpet we ultimately selected the best, and we were happy to find that it was also the lower priced of the three (though not by much). Then we found out it was made out of a corn based product! It is supposed to be super durable and stain resistant, which is important as we have two young boys and a big dog. The installers came out the following week and got the job done in maybe a little more than half a day. I appreciated that they will move all of your furniture and then put it back. It is a pain to unhook all of your electronics and I also had to remove everything from my china hutch which was a big job, but that obviously can't be avoided. They will not move grand pianos so we had to recruit friends to come over before and after to move the piano a few feet and then put it back, but I don't think any company would do that, and it did take about 8 people to lift that thing up one step! (there were only 2 carpet installers). They did undo and redo an earthquake strap on one of our cabinets (I forgot it was there), and successfully kept our home theater wiring running under the carpet as before. No furniture was damaged. The carpet is not actually that thick and doesn't feel quite as plush as the one we had before, but it's fine and very soft (I like to walk around in my bare feet and also sit on the floor and play with the kids a lot, so that was important). They did break some of the plastic clips holding my hall closet shelves in place and now our closet door also doesn't close quite right since they took it off and put it back on, which wasn't apparent until a couple of weeks after the job was done. I should have called them to come fix this (still should), but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

My husband and I had been debating on whether or not we should replace the carpet in our downstairs living rooms and dining room. We wanted to match the hardwood flooring that was in the entry way and kitchen area. My husband contacted Empire Today through a kiosk Empire Today had set up in the South Hill Mall in Puyallup, Washington. This was our first experience with Empire Today. We set up an appointment with Matt Griffin for a Thursday afternoon at 5:00 pm. Matt arrived on time and was extremely professional, curteous and very knowlegable about the products Empire provides. Matt walked us through the installation process and told us what to expect throughout the entire process. All we, as the home owners had to do, was remove the nick knacks from any surface, take down any pictures on the walls, and unplug any electronic devices in the rooms in which the installation was to take place. Empire would move all of the furniture for us. Matt was very easy to deal with and if you are thinking about replacing any flooring, I would give him a call at 206-579-2873. I know he will give you the best price! We agreed to the price and signed the contract that night! The installers arrived the next morning promptly at 8 am. We were amazed that a company could move that fast on a sale and installation! We had 682 suare feet of Brazillian Cherry hardwood flooring installed in approximately 18 hours! The intallation team were curteous, and professional! These three guys new their job and do it extremely well! The installation team came in, reviewed what the job consisted of and went right to work. The set up was accomplished in minutes. Ten minutes after their arrival, the furniture was moved with extreme care. Baseboards were removed with precision. Empire doesn't just slap down the new flooring. Once the carpet and underlay were removed, the installers took a level to the floor to ensure the floor was level and smooth. They prepped the floor (sanding high spots and pounding nails down) to ensure the new flooring would lay properly. Once the sanding and nail pounding was completed, the team vacuumed the floor. Next, a barrier was laid down next and then came the hardwood. Each board was measure, tapped into place and nailed. By Saturday afternoon, all the flooring had been installed, base boards had been reinstalled, the floors cleaned and the furniture moved back into place. There was no cleanup work for me to do other than a little dusting! This team is amazing! We would highly recommend Empire Today! We are already planning on which room to redo next! You can be sure we will be using Empire Today again!

My husband called Empire on 12/22/11 to have someone come out and give us an estimate for carpeting. Jim Perryman (253-219-3505. Jim said it is okay to post his number on this website. More business for him!) came out the next day. He was very professional, personable and just an all around nice guy. So, we picked out some carpet (it took us a good few minutes to pick out the kind we wanted). Jim asked what type of carpet we were looking for, colors etc. He sat with us and answered all of our questions. While my husband and I discussed what color we wanted, Jim measured all of our stairs and upstairs. When he was done, we told him what we wanted, and he worked it out to the price we could afford. Not only did we get the carpet we wanted, but the old carpet and padding was removed and hauled away.We have a 3 bedroom home. The installers took apart our bed which is a 4 post real wood bed. It is very heavy. They moved all of the parts to our garage. I told them they wouldnt have to put it back together as we are getting a new bed. They installed the carpet and moved all of the furniture back where it was.They gave the carpet a vaccum and they were done. It didnt take them long (in my opinion) to get this done. They were at my house around 8:30am. It took them about an hour to disassemble our bed and move the furniture. They were done with the entire job around 3 (3 or 3:30). The head installer requested us to come check their work. My husband checked all of the stairs, rooms, closets etc and was satisfied. He signed the form the installation person had. He gave my husband a copy and told us to have a nice day! My husband and I are thinking of getting our laminate flooring re-done. If we do, we want Jim Perryman and the same installer(s) we had. I am one of those people that when I find someone that does something right, I want to continue to use that same person.
Description of Work: Jim Perryman is the rep for Empire that came to our home. Wonderful man. Asked what kind of carpet we wanted, provided many choices. He listened to what we wanted and gave us a bunch of great samples to choose from. All furniture was moved by the carpet installers, old carpet and padding was removed (Empire disposed of it). They installed our double padding and carpet and, moved all of the furniture back where it belonged. I have to give it to the guys that installed and moved the furniture. They had to take down our bed frame. We have a big 4 post canopy bed made out of real wood. The posts are very heavy, they took it all down. I told them they dont have to put it back together as we were getting a new bed so, they put the frame in our garage. It also didnt take all day for them to do the job (unlike our neighbor). Our neighbors installers were there from sun up to sun down. Our homes have the same lay out. The kicker is my neighbor just got back from deployment and had no furniture in his upstairs so, I am not sure why it took so long..... But the guys who did our installation were on point! Make sure you let them know that please!

We were in a hurry to get new carpet in our family room and hallway in time for the holidays, and they were great to work with. The sales lady was friendly and knowledgeable, and the price was in line with other estimates that I had received. The other companies we spoke with were not going to be able to perform the work before Christmas, but Empire was out 2 days later with the install. The contractor did a fantastic job, but with one exception. The carpet we chose had a check pattern, and they installed it crooked in the hallway. I called after they left, and Empire sent another contractor out the next day to correct the problem. They re-installed with the pattern square with the walls, and it now looks great. I didn't have to provide any documentation of the problem. They just took my word for it and sent someone out to fix it. We will definitely call them again when we replace more carpeting next year!!

I will never recommend this company to anyone. They make it sound like you are getting a great deal: "Buy 2 rooms get 3 free" and he called his manager "to try and get us a better deal". It was like talking to a used car salesman.
Description of Work: Over priced!!! My estimate was $18,000. I went to a local flooring liquidator and there estimate was $13,000. They were over priced, selection was VERY limited and the quality of their products were very poor. The sales man didn't even call back to see if we were interested after he came to our home and showed us his products. Not impressed.

Excellent. Patty Ferris came out to show us all our options and pricing. She was so knowledgable and friendly. She spent a lot of time making sure we picked the floors that would suit our family best. The installation team was excellent! They arrived on time, made sure they cleaned up before leaving, were very polite and did excellent work. Our new floors are beautiful!!

They were prompt and curteous on their visit day. The only problem was that they had a limited selection of vinyl floor coverings.

They were very accomodating to my work schedule and changes, the workers showed on time, and worked through the hottest day we had all year. Due to the botched job from my previous work by another contractor, the job turned into a 2 day event. The workers were very professional and kept me informed of the installation during the day. They had my home back to normal by mid day of the 2nd day...incredible!
Description of Work: Ater a disasterous experience with a contractor, Empire came in and saved the day! Bill King the rep was very sympathetic to my situation, and really spent time going over the details of the re-install of wood laminate for the entire bottom floor of my home.

Salesman arrived right on time - seemed efficient in measuring and calculating - but left me no estimate other than a price scribbled on his business card, and no itemized list of their services, nor a sample of the flooring. Their price was way too high - not the value as perceived in their ads.
Description of Work: I thought that Empire Today would be a good place to get a bid for my hardwood (Bamboo) flooring. I clicked online and made my appointment very easily. When the salesman did arrive (right on time!) he would not leave me with a written quote - nor a sample of the wood I might have selected. They did not offer solid bamboo - which was my preference - only an "engineered" bamboo laminate. I was very diappointed in their price quote - in that 1) they would not leave me a copy - 2) nor would I have an itemized list of the price of their services, and 3) they were at least $3,000 OVER the lowest bid I got (Lumber Liquidators - 5/8" solid) and $2,000 over the next bid (Simple Floors - 3/8" solid). He seemed surprised that I might want to compare his pricing and "not make my decision here and now". Dont take their flashy ads on TV or Radio at face value - get a bid and see if you can get it in writing.

Steven Hettema came out and gave pricing after doing the measuring. Everything happened very smoothly, and the installers did an excellent job. I felt as though they went out of their way to please me. I was very happy with everything. I was charged exactly what was estimated.

They removed all the carpets and put hardwood floor. They did a great job. They were super professional. The actual installers were fantastic. They went above and beyond the call for sure. I would recommend them. Their price was good.

I had a big house and hence, there was a lot of carpet installed. It was a lot of work and a lot of time. They spent a good amount of time here and they did a nice job. I love the carpet even now. They did a great job. They improved the carpet on the stairs with great edges. They did it better than the original installation. They came to my house with the carpet samples which was very nice. They worked around my work schedule which was nice.
Description of Work: I have used the services of Empire Today – 163810 a year and a half ago for carpet installation in my house
Overall, the experience was good. Their price was reasonable, and includes installation, materials, and tearing the old materials out and hauling them away. It was nice to have them be able to install everything all at once. They had a project manager that foresaw the work. Their crews were excellent and very easy to deal with. At first, their estimate was high, but we were able to negotiate a fair price. They were supposed to come out and do a punch list after the job was complete; that never happened but we had no complaints. I'm happy with their services and I would recommend them to others.
