Description of Work: We needed carpet done quickly within a very small window of time. Empire was able to provide us with a good quality carpet, installed within 2 days. The installation was well done. My only complaint, and it's very minor, is I wish there had been more color & style choices. Other than that, we would use Empire again in a heartbeat.

Description of Work: my landlord had carpet installed by empire a year ago. the seams were visable from the beginning and 8 monthes later the seams are freying and separating. I let the landlord know and I don't know if empire was ever given an opportunity to repair or replace. in my opinion though the product and installation were very poor quality wich reflects on the company as a whole.

Description of Work: Let me preface this by saying it is only my personal opinion but the facts are true. The installers of our hardwood floors were excellent, professional, hardworking, and efficient. They finished on time and cleaned up perfectly. The floors look fantastic. The sales experience was absolutely terrible with a salesman, Paul Wickswat, who either doesnt know what he is doing or is an unscrupulous scoundrel who pupposely misstated the quote and signed us up knowing we would have to pay more. I feel it is the latter. The price initially quoted was a little over $6K and we ended up at $5K, then found out that when the installers took one look at the floor, the price would go up by $1200. I got on the phone and ended up with an increase of $400, and only agreed to that because the entire installation crew was here to do the job. He also led us to believe that the wood would be an exact match to our existing hardwood. Nope. Not even close. Had to get the rest of the floor redone then. All I can say is WATCH OUT!! Too bad you cant just hire the installers and not go thru Empire!!

Description of Work: I received a quote for about 1200 square feet (two-thirds carpet one third LVT - roughly $11,000)). I scheduled the day before and the salesman arrived 20 minutes early. The problem I have with Empire is that they seem to be totally secretive about the details of the products they actually sell. What is LVT? According to the salesman it's 90% limestone. Good luck finding that in writing anywhere. The sample board says it's vinyl. The carpet I picked says 20 year warranty. Where is that warranty in writing? The salesman couldn't provide it and wouldn't commit that they would bring me a copy. I spent hours searching their website and then the web in general. I also could find no info on what LVT actually is. The product info section of their website contains no actual product information. Their sample boards lack many of the critical details like twist. Although their website advertises up to 60% off selected products right now, there was never any information provided on which products exactly were on sale. It seems that 6 lb carpet padding is the best they offer. I quickly found that I could get much better padding from competitors. Also I wanted nylon carpet but the salesman didn't show me any nor did he explain that they in fact do have nylon carpet or suggest that a play room is not the ideal place for polyester carpet which is more crush-prone. I called my salesman and cancelled the LVT within 2 hours of him leaving. Several hours later I cancelled the carpet and also faxed in my cancellation form. His supervisor called me later that night and tried to talk me out of cancelling such a larger order, saying he could show me where the warranty info is buried on their website and telling me they do in fact have nylon carpet. I downgraded my rating after subsequently receiving an installation confirmation e-mail the next morning for the LVT. When I called customer service I found that my orders had not been cancelled. This is totally ridiculous. I cancelled so quickly that the orders should never have even been placed. Customer service told me that the LVT was special order. Odd that the salesman told me everything was in stock. Regardless they gave me cancellation confirmation numbers and said they would send my deposit back within 15 days. It better show up or this rating is going to get even worse.

I received a salescall within 24 hours and the carpet was installed the next day. All personnel involved were prompt, polite, and tidy. We love the carpet and would use them again, though I think it was a little pricier than I expected. But the quality of the product is excellent.

They exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and speed. It only took about eight hours. We were also impressed because while another company took a week to even get us a bid, Josh at Empire Today brought us samples and gave us a bid on his first visit, then they started work a couple of days later when we were ready to start. One thing in particular amazed me; there had been a 3 inch chunk missing out of the drywall at the base of our steps, and I discovered after they left that they had repaired it, without being asked, at no extra charge! It wasnt part of the deal and had nothing to do with their job, yet they did this for us and didnt even mention it. They also trimmed out our step beautifully, and we are extremely pleased with everything they did. The laminate product they use, Quickstep, seems to be a great quality too.
Description of Work: They took up our carpet in our family room and living room, tile in our entryway, and tile in front of our fireplace, and replaced it all with laminate flooring. They also covered the step down into the family room and trimmed all of the areas of both rooms with new laminate baseboards. They moved all of our furniture and put it back when the job was done.

That is just crazy. Its at least 4 times what it would cost for hardwood from their competition.
Description of Work: I had an approximate 550 square foot area that I needed to put flooring in (old carpet was already torn up). I called Empire to get a bid, since they had a 50% off sale on laminate flooring. Even with half off, they wanted over $9000 to put laminate flooring in, that is crazy.

I went through 7 sales representatives and hours with them on the phone. Their records arent showing that they even came out to my home to give me an estimate. They cancelled with me the week before Christmas and emailed me saying Id still get 50% off. I still want them to come do the work but they keep blowing me off. The guy was really upset that Empire had to come out twice. They overmeasured our floor. The salesperson was being uppity. I believe they are trying to get you in a revolving account with high interest rates – something they don’t tell you up front with their bid. Whatever you are getting off on their flooring only applies to the laminate itself, not the installation which is jacked up higher than normal. They’re looking for people who need quick fixes. They say you can get flooring in the next day but they don’t contact you for a month. It took me six months but I finally found the right person to do the floor.
Description of Work: They sent me an email saying they would give me 50% off on laminate flooring. I contacted them for a second estimate regarding laminate flooring installation. The second flooring bid was $6000 more than their first bid.

The job went smoothly in spite of a minor setback, from start to finish. When Kelly (the sales person) came to give us an estimate we originally intended to replace the carpet in the family room with wood-look laminate and the kitchen floor with the slate product so thats how she bid the work and how we planned the job. Once the installation team arrived and got to the point where they took up the old carpet, they discovered that the cement sub-floor in the family room was way out of level and they couldnt put the laminate down without danger of it cracking when walked on. The install team immediately called their Manager who contacted Kelly about the problem. Kelly came out within two hours to inspect the problem and discuss alternatives with us. We elected to put carpet back in the room and she helped us select an appropriate product. She took care of all the paperwork immediately and changed the work orders to reflect the carpet and invoicing to reflect the lesser cost.
Description of Work: Empire today replaced the wood laminate in our entry way, the slate-look laminate in our kitchen and the carpet in our family room. They tore out all the old floor coverings, fixed any minor defects in the floor subsurface, and installed new flooring. They also hauled away all the old flooring and left the area neat and clean when they were done. The installation was handled with Empires "next day" service, we ordered the flooring on Friday and they were there on Saturday morning to begin the installation. The size of the job and a couple of complications required a two-day installation which worked out well.

When they installed them, they said they couldn't nail them down in places. There are pieces coming up in the living room. They did a spotty job. They didn't tell us it was going to be a problem with our sliding closet doors. They didn't give us any alternative. They quoted us one price and said there would be a 50% discount. Then they told us later that it would only be a discount on installation. There was poor communication.

EMPIRE TODAY WAS A GREAT CHOICE FOR US. WE EMAILED THEM. THEY CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. WE MET WITH THEIR REP. AND CHOSE OUR CARPET.
