Emerald Tree Service

The estimate included trimming back overgrown laurel hedge/tree growing between the neighboring property and ours, and ivy along the property line which had taken over a fence years ago. Additional work to trim branches on parking strip sycamore endangering the power lines to the house. Optional service to trim another tree was bid but we opted not to have the work done. Emerald Tree Service provided the best estimate price and did not penalize us for having a 'small job' like another company's bid. The vendor staff was prompt and worked steadily and even did a bit of extra ivy trimming at no extra cost. The debris was hauled away and the yard cleaned up. I liked this vendor for the flexibility of the bid and the respectful attitude as he took the time to provide advice on what work to have done considering our goals for the property. This is in contrast to the other vendor who gave the impression that he was in a hurry and our job was on the small side for his company.

Eric and his crew arrived at the agreed upon hour, and the tree was down, and the stump ground within several hours. There was a problem with the (separate) crew who were scheduled to remove the enormous piles of wood, and this problem persisted for several days. However, Eric called me half a dozen times and apologized profusely, and had the mess cleaned up a few days later. He also offered to haul the wood for free, because of the delay. I was very satisfied by the job that Emerald tree service did, and by the professionalism and careful work of the men who cut the tree down (with great care not to damage nearby plants), and the man who ground the stump, and those who cleaned up. The cost of the work was considerably lower than two other bids, and the work was perfect. i will definitely use the services of Emerald Tree Service in the future.

I wish I could give these guys an A++++. I just bought a house on a 1/2 acre here in Seattle (that's a BIG lot) with a lot of mature trees (I can't even count how many) and a small orchard, all of it overgrown and neglected for many years. I was feeling so overwhelmed, I didn't know where to start. Eric and his team were incredible, listening to all of my concerns, giving me their expert advice and going above and beyond what they promised. My experience started with getting multiple bids, Eric came in the middle, price wise. Keep in mind that Eric's team are not just a bunch of guys with chainsaws (nor are they a team of non-English speakers), so they won't be as cheap as some of the others on Angie's List. Two of the lead foremen were certified arborists (Alan & Quinn), they were knowledgeable, thoughtful (they'd ask if I liked the heights on each of my trees, make new suggestions for improvement, etc) and professional. The work took two days, both days going into the dark (which is more than what they signed up for). They were determined to get the job done, and do it RIGHT. To me, that was worth having the arborists on site -- I know that my trees are now going to be their best. We knew what we were getting into when we purchased this property (well, sort of!), we really wanted our own private space in the city and we got it. I know that Eric and his team will be with us until we sell, and we're already making plans for some other pruning come Summer time. I should also say that two of my neighbors liked the work so much, they are also using Emerald Tree Svc. I can't say how different our property looks now (we now have an incredible view of the lake!!) and it's truly thanks to Emerald Tree Service. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Highly recommend. Owner Eric came out right away and gave a very reasonable quote. Knowledgeable about the trees and good ideas on how to proceed. He called the night before to confirm and two men arrived right on time the next morning. Came home from work with an immaculate yard - all debris gone - and beautifully trimmed trees. The view has returned!!

The work was scheduled within the time frame needed. Workers arrived a bit early and went right to work. They were receptive to the needs of the neighbor and aware of clearing space for the new fence. They worked quickly and got everything done and cleaned up within 3 hours. It was a positive experience with all the cleanup completed.

The four-man crew arrived on time. They listened to us carefully as we described what was to be done in our back yard. We discussed and decided on the right course of action for one of the smaller trees, which we were not sure about. The crew foreman gave us a good reason for that tree to not be removed. They placed the chipper truck right where we suggested that they put it. The four men worked well together and all of them were very careful to watch for falling branches, etc. Our yard was left very neat, with all of the branches, bark, etc. picked up and hauled away. The guys were cheerful and polite and competent. Who could ask for anything more?

The bid was very reasonable. For safety reasons we agreed to a slight increase in price from our original discussion so a crane could be used. The price was still significantly below other bids where the companies proposed to just drop the tree onto the patio. This tree was over 100 years old and enormous! We set a proposed date but Eric, the owner, called and asked if he could move the date up as the crane became available and I agreed. Eric was on time to provide the bid and the crane and crew were on time to start the job. Everyone was very professional and safety conscious. The tree was brought down in sections with no damage done anywhere in the yard. They did such a great job that I asked them to also do some trimming over my roof. They were even able to bring down a tree section without damaging a wild honey bee nest so a bee keeper could pick up the hive! The neighbors were amazed that a tree removal company would take so much care and not just kill the bees. They also did a great job on the clean up. I highly recommend this company and will use them for any other work I may need in the future. One of my neighbors has already made arrangements to use them.

Came out right after I called about fallen tree and gave $200 bid. Following day came promptly to remove tree at time arranged. Did work in time estimated. Removed tree and left site clean and undamaged. Very happy with their work.

I called and owner came out almost the next day and gave us an estimate and crew showed up on date and time arranged promptly. Both owner and crew were great, knowledgeable, and did a wonderful job.

Eric came over to give me a free estimate for pruning 3 fruit trees, cutting a pine tree back from my house, and pruning some shrubs in the front of my house. He was impressive and sounded very knowledgeable about trees. The day work was scheduled, two of his employees showed up, knocked at my door, and asked me to tell them what to do. I was annoyed since Eric had said I would not even need to be home for the work and they woke me up. Eric showed up 10 minutes later and said that he would tell them what to do. I saw them start to work. Eric was nowhere in sight. I went out for an hour. When I came back, they were cleaning up to leave. I was surprised. I saw only one tree pruned , the other two looked untouched. I mentioned this, they said they were properly pruned. I probably could have stood over them and told them exactly what I thought was wrong but I had hired Eric to do that, because they are the tree specialists, right? As for pruning the rhododendron bush, it ended up looking like a lopsided cube. The forsythia bushes were cut straight across on the top. The pine tree had its limbs hacked off where it touched the house, not sure how else they could have handled that to make it look more attractive, but it looks pretty terrible. I just hired a gardener to fix my garden..without my even prompting him he said the pruning on the trees and bushes was not good. Finally. Another expert confirming what I thought. Of course maybe they just say that to all prospective customers. But my gut feeling is that they did a pretty bad pruning job. One employee approached me while waving a cigarette. All I could think was, "Where is he going to drop that cigarette butt? In my lawn?" They cleaned up very well. Eric called later and told me he wanted to take a picture of the apple tree that was pruned but he never showed up.

Great job! The estimate & the work was completed quickly. My cherry trees look ready for the winter and the cleanup was awesome! I'm so impressed with their work that I'm calling Emerald Tree Service next year. If you find that you need any arborist help call these guys...the're Great!

Eric gave the written estimate on site as opposed to others who had to get back and took a week to do so. Upon completion, I mentioned the Angie's list coupon for 5% off and he proceded to give me 10% off. A very pleasant surprise. Workers were very polite and thoughtful.

We weren't home at the time the service was performed, but when we returned home it was done. All the leaves, chips, etc were swept up and removed. We had asked that gates on both sides of house be securely locked when they left, and that was done. Everything was to our satisfaction.

We had a non-emergency job during peak emergency season. Eric was quick to respond. Other contractor's were over loaded, Eric had enough- - Competent- His head guy could have been the owner himself very, very skilled. - Drug screened- Eric claims to have a drug screening program. - English speaking employees- we've had problems in the past with hiring a company and on the front end everyone speaks great english, but once work begins all the english speakers disappear. It's very important to us that we can speak with whoever is going to do the work for 5 or so minutes before the job begins to ensure competence & quality. To allow him to get the bid in so, they could get the job done. The whole experience was wonderful from start to finish. Eric was- -Competitive- I bet if I got (10) bids from legitimate companies, Eric's would have been with $100 (10%) of the bottom, if not the bottom. My time and the other (9) potential contractors time is more valuable than that, not to mention all the gas that would have waisted (some people value gas and green house gasses more than others time). & -Honest- Claims to have all his employees on the books, covers them with L&I & collects and disperses all the a appropriated taxes to the appropriate Government agencies. I'm tired of all these cash contractors trying to get me to pay them cash, so they can avoid paying taxes (their fair share). If their so hard up to screw the Government and honest Business I don't want anything to do with them! Get a real tax paying job and stop stealing from honest people and the Government! What jerks!

Met with Eric and his team to go over job about a week and a half prior to job. Impressed with the professionalism of all involved. Was not able to be present when they did the job but returned home that evening to find everything had been done according to plan and my garden and parking area clean and put in order. Great job!

I called and spoke with Eric the owner to get a bid for this job. He was able to come out the next day. Eric even called the next day to check if he could come by a little earlier than our scheduled time which was even better for me. His bid was comparable to a couple other bids I got. I decided to go with Emerald Tree because of Eric's responsiveness. The other bidders did not respond as well. On the day of the job, Eric called to advise his crew was running a little late, which I appreciated. Two guys arrived, got set up and started to cut down the trees. Everything went smoothly, and they cleaned up afterwards.

The owner call ed and made an appointment for one date, however, due to the job that was already being done was not able to come on the first date. He called promptly and another date was arranged. The work was done professionally and the personnel was friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely use them again in the fall to come and trim trees that need that service after all fruit is gone for the year.

They were great as usual. Mike got out right away and provided me with a bid. The guys took a little longer because of the snow right before Thanksgiving but they were there bright and early the day after Thanksgiving. They got set up, did what they were supposed to do and left the property better than they found it. They also ran interference with the neighbors who were concerned about tree debris on their side of the fence. Great guys, great attitudes and great job done!

Great. Emerald Tree was very responsive in providing me an estimate on the same day I called, scheduling the work that same week, and completing the work on time and at $100 less than what they had estimated. Workers were extremely professional and competent. I will definitely hire the firm again to meet my tree service needs in the future.

Excellent. Although we ended up accepting a different bid, I wouldn't hesitate to call Emerald again. Mike was extremely responsive, and even though he was out of town, he made sure we knew what was going on. He had Todd, the arborist who does the actual tree work, come and give us the estimate. Todd is very knowledgeable and gave very good advice. The estimate was very reasonable and I am confident they would have done a great job. Very pleasant experience.

We contacted this service, through Angie's list. We had used them in the past and had received excellent service, This time the experience was different. We called them and left a message. We got a return phone call soon afterwards and the person I talked with said that he would prefer an email address to submit his estimate. He promised to come by in 2 days to look at the trees that we wanted removed. We never heard back. We recoontacted them via email and still never heard back.
