Description of Work: Removed old fiberglass shower in the master bath and built a new shower with beautiful tile floor and walls. Installed new fixtures which includes two shower heads, one hand held and a shower door. Two niches were installed in the walls of the shower. We had a very professional team that began and finished on time. We did end up spending a little more than we had intended because we went with higher end fixtures and door. We're very pleased with the end result and highly recommend Andrew and Emerald Isle Tile.

Response from Emerald Isle Tile LLC
Customer purchased a Angies List coupon about a year ago, and then she was refunded for the coupon at that same time. A year later (recently), the customer thought for some reason we had not refuned the value of the coupon and she wrote a negative review. I called her and she then realized the coupon was refunded close to the time of purchase and she was very sorry for the mistake. Customer said she would call Angies List to remove the review. I also called and asked Angies List to remove the review.

I called and Andrew the owner from Emerald Isle Tile came out, spoke with me and within a couple of days gave me a quote for the job and sent many photographs of other jobs he had completed. His bid was not the lowest but I felt very comfortable talking to him and thought it would make a good fit. I never heard from Andrew again, instead Bryan was assigned to us from this point forward. When we first hired Emerald Isle Tile we were told it would be three weeks before they could come out and start the work. That was fine. The work in the contract stated it would take six days. Then a few days later we were told there was good news they had an opening and we could be started on Tuesday the following week. I took Tuesday off of work, waited around the house and no one showed up. I called Bryan at 10:30 or 11:00 and he said that they would not be out that day he had a misunderstanding with the tile guy and they would come out on Wednesday. (1st missed day). Wednesday they came out tour out the old tile, put in cement board and made great progress. Thursday I received a call from Bryan stating that they couldn't find the tile for my shower and would try to look on Friday and be out then (2nd missed day) Friday the tile guy came out and put in half of the tile, again another fair days work. Off for the weekend so no one was here until Monday. Monday the 1st of July the rest of tile was put in. Tuesday and Wednesday were no shows (3rd and 4th day missed) On Wednesday I did get a phone call from Bryan stating the door guy took the rest of the week off for the Fourth of July. The Fourth was on Thursday so what happened to Tuesday and Wednesday? So now I'm waiting for only the surround to be put back on so I can use my shower and they decide not to show up to work. Thursday Fourth of July okay a holiday I get it no show but I get it. Friday no show (5th day missed) now we are at a second weekend. Monday July 8th my husband took off of work so he could be here if they came to finish the work. after calling at 10:15 they finally showed up later. The door guy that we had just waited an entire week for said he wouldn't do the work and walked off. He told Bryan it wasn't the job he had signed up for there were no instructions and so he left. Glad I waited an entire week for him. The dry wall guy did show up. At 11:00 Bryan left and told my husband he would be back within an hour with new arrangements made for putting in the shower door. About 2:00 Bryan called and stated that he would have someone out the next day to finish the shower door and the dry wall guy would return. (we are now at 6 days missed on the shower and it was only suppose to take six days to repair) On Tuesday someone did show up and did finish the shower. Okay it was a six day project that took 15 days. This was unacceptable especially because they were mostly no shows and the communication was not good on when they would and would not be there. We had a signed contract that stated six days and it was not. When they left they left a mess. There is still a full box of tiles and 3/4 box of tile in my bathroom, maybe I can find out where they bought it and take some of it back. There is an open bag of grout in the bathroom. There is a five gallon bucket someone left at my front door with a sponge and cement dust. Guess we gained a bucket. The tape from the drywall guy is still up but I guess it is long enough I can pull that down. In all fairness Bryan did state I would have to pull the tape down and he would call me and tell me when it was safe to take off the wall. i guess he forgot a phone call. He did call three days in a row trying to get the final check. While I would have liked to have waited the extra 9 days they made me wait, I won't and I didn't. As to the work itself, time will tell if it repaired the problem, but the tile does look great and who ever they had do the tile since the person I hired was not the person who did it, the tile looks good. It really is a shame because at the very beginning I told Bryan that I wanted to put granite tile on my bathroom counters in three bathrooms but I wanted to see how the shower went first. I will look for another company to do the bathroom counters.
Description of Work: We had Emerald Isle tear out the old shower tile and put in new shower tiles. This included taking down the glass surround shower and putting it back up and replacing drywall in three different spots.

The finished product is great. We were very pleased with the quality of the construction, and everything looks and works great. However, the process was a little longer and more complicated than it needed to be. We were asked to choose our tile for the shower, and went to do so. When we had selected our tile, we were asked what additional tile we would like to use for the pan of the shower, as the tile we had selected did not have a small 2x2 option. We didn't realize that this would be an issue, so we had to go back to the store to pick out new tiles. However, this was near the end of the year, so the store was closed for the holidays, adding more time to our project. We chose new tiles, and provided this detail to Emerald Isle on January 7th, and were told we would have the final schedule and quote within a week. On the 14th, I followed-up and asked if there were any additional open items that were needed. I was eventually provided a schedule on the 17th, and was not informed of any open items. We needed to leave town on January 31 for a family emergency, so we made arrangements to have a key left to the front door so the work could continue while we were gone. Our expectation was that most of the tiling and grout work would be done in our absence. On February 4th, after checking in on our way back, we were told that we needed to pick a grout color for the project, which had been holding up the project while we were gone. After we chose the grout, the project continued. On February 8th, we were told that the plumber would be there on the afternoon of Monday the 11th. However, he did not show up as expected, and I had to call to find out where he was. After I called, I was told that he would be there the following afternoon, as he had gotten held up with an emergency at another job. Again the next day, he was delayed with an emergency at presumably the same job. He arrived the morning of the 13th, and finished the plumbing. However, we needed to have him come back and fix some items, as the hot and cold water on the shower had been installed backwards. The rest of the job wrapped up without incident. The finished product looks great, and we love our new shower.
Description of Work: We hired Emerald Isle Tile to replace the shower in our master bathroom. In addition to the big deal, we chose upgraded tile and grout options, and had our plumbing fixtures and the shower door replaced.

I contracted with Emerald Isle through Andrew. Andrew told me he had been in the business for 18 years. I thought that he was going to do the work or an employee of his. I told him when he came out what that I wanted an niche (inset for shampoo) and epoxy grout. When I received the bid it stated sanded grout. I had to call him and remind him that I had requested epoxy grout. That should have been my first clue..... I also told him that I was under a time frame to complete the job and needed it within the time frame that my brothers were coming from another state to do the construction work for me. Andrew told me that he felt they could accommodate me. Andrew was aware that it would be a short call (or at least I thought he was) I called him on Monday and asked if he could come out on Tues to make sure we were all on the same page and that we could have everything on our end completed and on the same page. I received a call that the project manager Bryan would be out on Tuesday. Bryan called and said that he couldn't come out but over the phone without ever knowing about the job to set the hardie board and the drain. Andrew then said that they could not start until the following week. I was not happy but ok with that. I then received a call from Andrew that they had adjusted their jobs and could start on Friday and Bryan and the tile layer would be here Friday at 8:30 and they wanted the deposit. I had the money ready at 8:30 when Bryan came, I guess the tile layer was not here but would be there later in the day. We had the wrong drain, since I was at work I could not go and get the proper drain so my brother's asked if they could pick it up and they would pay them cash when the layer came. OH did I say the layer did not show up, the phone call came in at 2:30 that he couldn't make it but would come on Saturday and start the pan. The layer was suppose to be here at 9:30 - I called Bryan at 10:00 and received a call back at 10:30 that he would be here in about 1/2 hour that he had to stop at home depot. at 12:30 the layer came. The layer came on Monday (holiday) at finished the pan. Was suppose to be here on Tuesday morning. He never showed up. Said his grandma was in the emergency room and he didn't have Bryan's phone number. I was then told that I had to go and get the grout. OK NOT A PROBLEM...... How much? I picked up what the pkg said would cover 90 sq ft. I had to go back and get another tub because they weren't sure if 2 would work. My brother's had to go a 3rd time and get another 2 tubs. Needless to say not a good experience with this company. I had another shower that I wanted done but I think I will look for someone else that is more honest in their dealings.

We bought a coupon off angie's list. The guy came and looked at it, gave us an estimate. We got started within a few months from that date, there were scheduling issues on his side. He said that his guys would come and do the job and not him, I thought it'd be his company but turns out he sub contracts everything. I must say, the guy who came did a great job, but maybe I just got lucky with that guy. It got a little too complicated scheduling things, because I had to do it through emerald tile, but another company would do the work. It seemed a bit shady and too complicated.

Overall, the experience working with Andrew and his employess at Emeral Isle Tile was great. Andrew and his employees were very professional and we are very pleased with the quality of the work. We started the project with a very tight budget, and Andrew really worked with us to keep the project on budget and progressing in a timely fashion. As with all remodels, once the shower was opened up, additional issues presented themselves which required more time and money to fix. These issues included things which were clearly out of scope of the coupon we purchased and were add-ons to the job, such as water damage from the failed shower pan and additional drain work. Andrew worked with us to find solutions that kept our costs under control, and met the needs of the timeline for completion. Even with our desire to stay within a very tight budget, the end result is really a very beautiful shower that meets our needs. Even on our simple shower remodel, Andrew and his employess had great design suggestions on everything from tile color selections, grout choices and practical things to think about when deciding if the shower door should open right or left. The upshot is an unexpected bonus of not only working with talented craftsmen, but also someone who could make design recommendations as well. We would not hesitate to work with the professionals from Emerald Isle again and highly recommend them
Description of Work: I purchased the Big Deal coupon for a complete shower remodel for $2499.00 which included demo of existing shower and installation of new drywall, new drain, tile, grout, and a tile allowance. Additional work was done including additional demo work, wood rot repair, plumbing work including moving pipes for new shower head and shower valve location, and additional labor for drain work, and install of of new glass shower door

To sum it up, the floor is beautifully done. Andrew is great to work with, responds promptly, and is focused on delivering excellent quality and customer satisfaction. The basket weave tile I chose is not the easiest to work with (thus my chickening-out and hiring a professional to install), and there was an added challenge of laying them over electric heat mats so the surface wasn't entirely smooth and flat. The floor looks even better than I thought possible, given the hundreds of grout lines and tiles as small as 1/4" x 1/4" that can be very easily pushed out of line despite the backing material. His installers were professional, punctual, and they did an outstanding job with great attention to detail. I always check work in areas that won't be seen, because it speaks volumes about a crafts person. If there were a category for this, they would score an "A" as well. Even the cuts for the toilet and tub drains were carefully and skillfully made. It demonstrates great pride and a dedication to quality when installers are just as meticulous in areas that will be covered-up, as they are with areas that will be seen everyday. I had also solicited a quote from another top Angie's List rated company and pricing was almost identical. I chose Emerald Isle and Andrew because he clearly cares about delivering the best possible result, had a multitude of excellent references, and struck me a straightforward, fair guy. All of my perceptions proved true and I would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone who values truly excellent craftsmanship at a very fair price.

The installer did a great job. The quality of work was excellent. Andrew, the owner was courteous and was good at listening to my ideas. He also was able to give me some good ideas as well. The job was delayed about a week and did take a while to get on his schedule. The job also took longer than what I was told it would which was inconvenient. However, the end result is that I my new floors look great and I am happy with the end result. No more stinky carpet in the bathrooms!

It went well. This all happened over the Christmas/New Year holidays and Andrew was very receptive to my urgency to have this completed before my guests arrived from Ireland. Bryan came and gave an estimate on Christmas Eve Day and Michael finished the job on New Year's Eve. They were prompt and professional at all times. I would recommend them in the future.
Description of Work: Using clear sealer they removed the old caulking from the shower pan to the ceiling of the vertical joint of the shower stall. They cleaned all the tile and grout with a high strength alkaline sealer. They installed 100% new calking on the vertical joint in the shower and clear sealed the tile and grout.

We were going to do the project this summer but were busy with guests for most of the time. When we were able to settle on a date we could both do, it was in November. It wasn't a rush on our end, since it was a guest bathroom that is used infrequently. The first day they arrived on time, which was nice since I arranged to work from home that day. The second day, they arrived 3 hours late. The 3rd day they arrived on time and finished most of the work. The trim, a chipped tile to be replaced and the toliet reseated were left to do. We scheduled the following Sunday for the remaining work. No one showed up. Got a call in the evening, and apparently it was miscommunication. So, the following Sunday was scheduled, and no one showed up. We spent all day waiting. Got a call in the evening, I guess they needed supplies. So, reschedule for another Sunday. They showed up to finish the work, 3 hours late. I normally do not write bad reviews. I like to give the benefit of the doubt. However, I am very frusterated at the lack of concern for our schedules. Next, time we will do the work ourselves.
Description of Work: We had our guest bathroom floor tiled. They tore up the linoleum and baseboard then put in ceramic tile that we had picked out.

The previous owner of our house had renovated the bathroom and used sandstone for the shower. Beautiful stone, horrible choice for a shower stall. It obviously did not stand up to the constant water and before long there was mould and erosion forming throughout the shower stall. After receiving recommendations from a couple of different friends I contacted Emerald Isle Tile to assess the project and to provide costs etc. Andrew, the owner of Emerald Isle Tile, was very prompt in his response and met me at my home within a couple of days. He was very courteous and without me having to ask, he even removed his shoes upon entering the house. First impressions were good so far. After evaluation the project he had an estimate to me within a couple of days and listed out a number of options. We compared Andrew's bid to a couple of others and finally decided to award the project to Andrew.Andrew and his team were very respectful, courteous, tidy and kept us informed of how the project was going. They even repaired some existing broken floor tiles and we feel like we have a brand new bathroom. It was a pleasure working with Andrew and I would highly recommend Emerald Isle Tile for all tiling projects. Sincerely, Wayne.
Description of Work: Rip out existing tile in shower down to the studs and build out the entire shower while saving the existing glass shower walls and door. This project included putting in a new shower pan, water proof lining throughout and adding a built in shelf.

I had a last minute project with a deadline. Andrew was very flexible, knowledgeable, and prompt in providing estimates and scheduling the work. The finished product was beautiful. There was one small miscommunication due to the very limited time frame that we had to get this job done, but Andrew went far and beyond all expectations to make sure we were happy with the product, price and installation. I will be using them again on upcoming projects.

Recieved an estimate from Andrew that was lower than 2 other estimates recived from other vendors. Based on feedback on this site I decided to select Emerald Isle Tile. The estimate included moving/reinstalling appliances, tear out of old floor, haul and dump old flooring debris, installation of new ceramic tiles and bullnose. Not included was repair of water damaged laundry room floor (not visible at time of original estimate and found when old floor torn out). Additional cost for this repair was reasonable and well done. Greg the installer put up plastic barriers in all doorways leading into the kitchen and laundry room and over the kitchen counters and cabinets while tearing out the old flooring. Installation of new tile floor went well and after the grouting was completed Greg and his team did an excellent job of cleanup. Andrews' estimate for the amount of tiles was only off by about 4 main tiles, which in my opinion was not a negative, we didn't have to pay for a lot of leftover tile. We were able to purchase exactly what was needed plus a few extra tiles for spares. Andrew came by serveral times to see how the job was going and asked if we had any questions. The "B" on punctuality was due to nasty traffic as Greg had to come from south of Seattle through all the rush our traffic and picking up materials. The slight tardiness did not affect job timing. My wife and I are very happy with the results and the way Greg completed and cleaned up the job.
Description of Work: Moved appliances out of kitchen and laundry room, removed old vinyl flooring and particle board underlayment in kitchen and laundry room, repaired water damaged floor in laundry room, laid down new plywood underlayment then placed concrete board over the plywood then installed flooring tiles and bullnose tiles, grouted with epoxy grout. Installer Greg and team did an excellent job, paid attention to detail including cleanup and reinstalled appliances. I very happy with the job they did and would definitly use their services again.

Andrew provided a prompt and reasonable quote for an all out replacement of the shower and fix to the kitchen ceiling in my rental property. Andrew and his team took care of the job quickly, working closely with my tenants to make sure they were aware of and ok with the work plans. The outcome is a beautifully tiled shower that looks a million times better than the one before it. Andrew made it pain free for me and came in on schedule and on budget. He was ALWAYS highly professional and on top of all concerns or questions that either my tenants or I had regarding the project. I would absolutely recommend Emerald Isle Tile and plan to use them again for any future tiling needs that I have.
Description of Work: The previous shower was leaking and causing water damage on the ceiling of the kitchen. The problem was hard to pinpoint and other contractors told me it was probably a leak in the roof. After getting the run around across various plumbers, roofers, etc..., I contacted Andrew and he immediately told me that he thought the shower didn't have a shower pan installed! To fix this, Andrew pulled out and replaced the entire shower (big corner in converted attic with custom slanted ceiling tiling required). Andrew fixed the drywall on the ceiling of the kitchen where the shower leaked through, making sure to match the paint and looking seamless. He also replaced the custom door to the shower, which had to be special ordered due to unique dimensions of the shower/room.

Andrew responded to my initial inquiry promptly and asked for all the pertinent details to provide an estimate the next day. His installers arrived on time and were very careful to keep working areas clean. The tile install work was excellent: all alignments and cuts were precise, the grout work lovely. We've had numerous floor tile jobs done over the years and this is the best. The man and woman doing the work really seemed experienced and were so careful in making each measurement and cut.
Description of Work: Our job was, I guess, a medium sized bathroom floor, about 95 square feet. Emerald Isle Tile installed the 1x2 ceramic tile and some 20 feet of baseboard tile.

I went out and got several estimates and price-wise they were all about the same. I decided to go with Emerald because Andrew knew what he was doing and had really good ideas. The job went great. The contractors were very helpful and friendly. The frameless shower door and tiles are really nice looking.
Description of Work: They removed an old shower fixture, built a new tile shower stall. Built a tile inset self into the new shower. Removed carpet and set tiles in the entire bathroom floor. Installed new shower fixtures. Installed a frameless glass shower door. Installed a new toilet.
