Everything went excellent and we are very happy with this. They were polite and on time. They did the job and made sure everything was done properly. The also checked with us to our satisfaction before asking for any payment. We would highly recommend them.

Response from Einar Johanson Insulation & Glass
Our employees are working people, too. We think they deserve to have weekends off, as well as paid vacations, medical insurance, etc. Does that really constitute an "F" in professionalism?

It was fantastic. The young man who did the installation worked really hard and was very focused, and professional. He did a great job. It was done from the interior, which is a little unusual. But that was the recommendation. He did a very good job of cleanup as well.

Estimator punctual and informed. Worker showed up promptly at 7:55, got to work, plugged off wall openings in basement and under kitchen counter. Patched the holes and that was that. They did exactly what they said and what we wanted. Very happy with the outcome, price, and service.

The estimator was friendly and answered all my questions. The bid seemed quite reasonable. The worker was prompt and friendly. We were not told that a 220 volt outlet was needed until the worker showed up, so we had to quickly move our stove and leave our door open all day for the cable - it would have been helpful to know that in advance. The work was completed on time. There was little or no attempt to clean up the debris. As my siding tested positive for lead paint, not cleaning up the debris seems like a fairly major health issue. Once I came home to inspect the work, I noticed that there seemed to be way more holes than what the estimator had indicated (generally one hole every 16 inches). I noticed there were several places where there was almost double that. I called the manager who tried to convince me that it was normal, yet he conceeded that my hole count was way above his square footage rule of thumb estimate. He did come out to access my assertion. He called later to explain that the extra holes were due to odd framing in my walls and above my windows. I accepted the explanation, but I'm still not completely convinced. The insulation definitely made a difference in the amount of furnace "on time" and I can tell that our rooms seem less drafty and quieter. So I'm very happy with the result of the job, just not the mess that was left and the number of holes (additional potential points of failure).
Description of Work: Blown in cellulose into most of the exterior walls of my house which were previously uninsulated (1920's house). It was about 2/3rds of the total exterior walls - just those which were sided and not the basement walls which are batted.

This is a fantastic company! They have someone answering the phone--a huge plus. Mark came over to provide an estimate--on time, in a professional manner. He was pleasant and knew what he was talking about, pointing out some potential problems with our framing that might make it difficult to pass inspection. He called the next day to confirm our conversation and provide a verbal quote, then mailed the quote promptly. Bryan scheduled the installation over the phone. Chris and Scott showed up on time and did a fantastic job on the actual installation. Scott called out some potential issues with the fire blocking in our interior walls, giving us a chance to fix the problem before it held up our inspection--or worse yet, caused a fire.
Description of Work: Einar Johansen sent a crew out to insulate our basement. They installed bat insulation (the fiberglass stuff) in the ceiling and surrounded it with twine to keep it in place. They stuffed the walls with bat insulation.

They are a very popular company that does high quality work, and I chose them for their reputation. They had nice courteous people who came in and did a prompt and meticulous job. I had no problems. They were clear and had great ideas suggesting how to make things look better in our house. They showed us their previous work. My wife was impressed and said, "I like it better." Initially they told it would take some time for them to come since they were busy. Once they started, they were efficient. We referred them to other people.
Description of Work: They replaced a lot of single paint 1960-aluminum windows with new vinyl clad double pane windows and siding doors. They also did the interior trim around the windows and redid the exterior trim.

The crew showed up with two trucks exactly on schedule and completed the entire house in roughly 1/2 day. They cleaned up, patched their holes, and left. The only complaint would be that they should have better warned us about the interior dust when they blew insulation into the attic spaces.

The sales rep inspected the entire home inside, outside and underneath. The manner in which each segment should be done was explained, as well as the benefit it would provide in the comfort of the home and heating costs. A contract was signed and a date set. The day they were to start the home was inaccessible due to snow. The workers arrived as soon as the roads allowed. The delays created some conficts with our schedule which the company worked around with out any complaint, even having some work done on a Saturday. The workers were clean, proficient, and very aware of and careful around furniture, landscaping, and carpet. During their work they found small items needing attention like loose rodent screens. They did not just tell us about them. They fixed them, then told us. From My perspective, this job had some difficult areas to work in under difficult conditions. They had the skill and knowledge to do the work well.

Both the estimator and the installer were very professional and polite. They did the job for exactly the estimated amount, even though the installer had to make a second trip to finish the job because of a hornet s nest that was discovered during the installation. He also had to drill a few holes inside the house because of some sections of brick exterior (a job another agency said they would not even do because of the mess it would create) and left no mess behind.

The guys were on time. They came in and improved our venting and blew the insulation in. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. This month our gas use was way down, and I can really only attribute it to the insulation. Also, Puget Sound Energy gave us an instant rebate of $400 off the cost because this company is part of their current insulation rebate program. Excellent!
Description of Work: We had them come in and give a bid on insulation installation. They blew insulation into the part of our house that had little to none in the attic. The estimator told us we had sufficient insulation in our walls and under our house, so all we needed was insulation in the attic.

Mark came out within 2 days to give us a bid on blowing in insulation to our attic (over existing fiberglass). At the time we set-up the appointment for the estimate. Mark spent a good hour reviewing our needs for insulation and for replacement of a few windows that we will have done at a later time. We were able to schedule the work to be done within 2 weeks. Pete and his son arrived exactly on time. We have a very steep driveway and they could not get the large blower truck up the incline. We had to convince Pete to try to run the hose up the driveway and into the attic. Once he realized he had enough hose, things went quite smoothly. They installed baffles around vents prior to blowing in material, and vented the powder room vent out the roof. Our attic access is through a small hatch in a closet, so it was a tight fit. Pete and his son were very careful keeping the items left in the closet clean and protected. We have a powerful vac system so my husband offered to use it instead of the smaller shop vac they brought. All billing and rebate from PSE were handled through the office, very efficient.

Estimator and crew were excellent to work with and finished the job early enough that I had the office up and running the same evening. Great cleanup. After the job was done we had some questions, so the scheduler came back out to the house to see what we were talking about, and answered all of our questions.
Description of Work: Blew insulation into walls in older part of home & insulated walls & ceiling in garage converted to office that was difficult to insulate and needed a creative approach. They reinforced partial suspended ceiling to place batts, and used appropriate product between rafters in area where there is no ceiling, and on walls where there is no wallboard, where normal insulation would not have worked. They checked kitchen cabinets and other areas and plugged holes in the wallboard before insulation was blown in, so that we didn't have a mess.

It went well. The sales rep was on time, polite, professional and knowledgeable. He took the necessary time to answer all of my questions. Two weeks later, the 2 man crew arrived on time and finished about an hour early. They were efficient and professional. Also good about answering the questions I had about the process. They did a good job cleaning up when they were done. All I had left was some fine dust on the floors and furniture but I expected that considering the drilling in the walls was a dust creating process. The crew was also great in working with me to rotate my cats from one room to another as they finished the bedrooms.
Description of Work: They blew insulation into my attic to bring the amount up to code and R-32 value. They blew insulation into the outside walls of the house from the interior. Added 4 soffit vents to add ventilation to the attic. Price reflects $800.00 rebate through the natural gas company.

We were referred to several companies from PSE and noticed Einar Johanson on the list. A co-worker had good luck with them for windows so we called them to give us a quote. We got a detailed quote that broke out our upstairs addition because we weren't sure whether it was insulated or not (turns out it was and the amount quoted for that part of the job was deducted upon completion). The estimator determined our attic insulation was adequate and that insulating the crawlspace was not needed because of the way our house is constructed--something I knew in advance. One of the other companies tried to quote the crawlspace and pipes--doubling the quote by adding unnecessary work that would provide no benefit in terms of our home's energy efficiency. We received advance instructions on how to prepare and what to expect. Because most of the work was being done from the outside walls, we didn't have much prep work to do. The two person crew arrived on time and went over the job with us. They were polite and efficient. Because our house has cedar siding on all but the front facade, they did the work from outside except for the front walls. When working inside, they put down a drop cloth and cleaned up everything before leaving. Ours was a relatively small job. They had to do only part of the exterior walls of a 1,300 sq ft rambler--the kitchen and dining area and been insulated during a prior remodel. The crew started at 8:00 in the morning and was done before noon. All we have to do now is repaint the walls (it's a good idea to have this work done when you're planning to paint because you will have to repaint over the patched holes used to access the wall cavities to blow in the insulation). We're now looking forward to a warmer house this winter and lower heating bills.
Description of Work: Blow insulation into walls of 50's vintage home. The price paid is less the $400 PSE rebate which was deducted from the bill--the total job was $950.
