The project manager Alejandro responded quickly to my request for an estimAte. He supplied a detailed breakdown of costs in a written estimate as well as a timeline for work completion. He was responsive to questions throughout the process. He was interested in our business even though we have an old house with lots of nonstandard features. His estimate was more thorough than other companies we contacted and he was very quick to return phone calls and email. The bid was also lower in cost and he was able to fit us in his schedule within three weeks. The Ecoside crew are excellent craftsmen. Corners, flashing, window trim were all installed perfectly. They arrived on time, were easy to work with, kept the work area clean. The house looks new, we are happy, and the neighbors are happy. Alejandro and his crew transformed the neighborhood eyesore into an updated home with a clean modern look.
Description of Work: Ecosidellc tore off existing siding and replaced siding with Hardie plank siding on a ninety year old 1000 sq ft home. The crew hauled away debris, framed windows, faucets, and vents, installed flashing, and caulked siding.

Great - Alejandro did a great job working with us both to accommodate our schedule, as well as to help evaluate and select the right materials.
Description of Work: Alejandro completed a small siding project quickly and was priced very competitively. He was very professional throughout the experience and provided both guidance on materials selection, as well as worked with changing and challenging scheduling requirements. He and his team did a great job not only with the quality of the work, but also keeping the worksite clean during the project. I would definitely recommend Eco-side LLC and will use them again for any future siding projects.

A great beginning! Alejandro showed up the next afternoon by appointment to bid the re-siding job. He was prompt, curteous and sent the promised bid by email the following morning. The bid was very fair and less than I expected. The crew was scheduled for a Tuesday morning to start. They arrived at 7:30 am (every morning) ready to work. Even when a rain/wind storm hit the second morning, the crew showed up and finished the "tear down" before deciding the side-ways rain & wind were too strong to work on scaffolding. Two days later, half way through the job, it snowed! Both times Alejandro called me to let me know he had made the decision to send the crew home because of weather. In spite of all this, they finished the job just as promised - on time and within budget, charging only one hundred twenty five dollars more for the wood rot repairs! Alejandro (owner) and his crew are polite, conscientous, professional and hard-working, obviously taking pride in their workmanship. At the end of each day the yard was cleaned up &, raked. The job was done professionally, on time at a fair price. I highly recommend hiring ECO Side LLC. They are an excellent company.
Description of Work: Replaced 60 year old wood siding on house with Hardiplank. Window and door trims were replaced. In process, several small areas of rot were discovered in inner walls. These were repaired professionally prior to completion of siding.

Positives: Professional quotation; final bill matched quote (lowest bid of 5) Friendly and accommodating crew Quality materials and installation (e.g level laps, offset lap joints, few thru nails-caulked, fair trim joints) Extraordinary: Extra trim work at no charge. Returned 3 times to help isolate rain water leak (removed trim and siding with no problem found). Leak finally traced to an old metal surrounding flat roof. Negatives: Installation schedule was extended by end-of-season workload.

Alejandro was consistently prompt and responsible with communication, initially with getting back to me to schedule estimate, and then with answering my questions regarding choice of materials, and then with scheduling the work and details during the job, and finishing details. The estimate was very competitive and a good value. He and his crew are very professional and were a delight to work with. Alejandro and his crew always aimed to please the customer. Between the choice of replacement shingles, #1 grade pre-primed cedar shingles and the craftsmanship of his crew, I am delighted with the results. What began as an obligatory repair on an older house before repainting, turned out to be an aesthetic enhancement beyond my expectation. The whole experience, the result, and the value of the work, made me very happy. I would highly recommend this company for any siding needs they may have.

I selected Eco-side because of their demonstrated experience with restoration work on older craftsman style homes. My house required experienced craftsmen to compensate for our out of square conditions, knee braces and other craftsman era styling features. They made adjustments necessary to make the new siding look like an original installation. The crew used industry standard safety equipment and tools, caulked every seam, cleaned up the work site every day and completed the job in ready to paint condition. I am so pleased that I selected this contractor.
Description of Work: Eco-Side bid on residing my house and detached garage. I provided the house wrap, siding and trim material. They provided all else. They were quick to respond with a detailed quotation that included all the details we discussed at the walk-through. A crew of two sided my 1 1/2 story house and detached garage in about 5 days.

The work began just two days after accepting Alejandro's bid. He and his crew were very friendly and completed the work within the time frame that he estimated. He even hauled away some additional material that he had room for in his truck and did not charge extra, and honored his Angie's List coupon. He was very professional and easy to work with, having offered to hold off on performing proposed garage wall repair work until I could think it through. I would recommend his services to anyone, the price was excellent as was the work performed.

These guys were true professionals and there bid was far lower than the others I called. They showed up on time with a full crew ready to work. I had to make some changes which they were happy to accomadate. They clearly knew what they were doing and I could tell that they specialize in siding. The work was done fast and and well. They cleaned up as they went and when they were done. I wouldnt hesitate to use them again.

I contacted Alejandro about residing my chimney. It was originally done with vertical siding and had a leak and rot. I sent him pictures of it and told him what I was looking for. He promptly replied with a few questions and followed up with an estimate. He let me know it would be something he would do on a available weekend. I asked him to schedule it as soon as possible. He kept in touch regularly to let me know which weekends were booked, and then scheduled a weekend. He arrived right on time. I made a mistake and told him a 4" reveal, when it should have been 5". He arrived with boards for a 4" reveal and pointed out that the rest of my house was 5". He asked if I would want to reschdule, and he would come back with the right size another weekend. I asked if I could go to the store while he did the demolishing and pick up the right size. He volunteered to go pick it up instead. Some contractors would really gouge you for the inconvenience. But Alejandro was very polite and calm. His price was very good compared to other bids, and he did not even charge me for the trip to the store, or returning the material that he brought with him. The work looks very professional. I would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: I had Eco-Side reside my chimney. It was originally built with vertical siding and had rotted over the years and turned black and soft. Eco-Side demolished the old siding, replaced some rotted plywood underneath, and re-sided it with hardi-plank siding. I am very happy with the work they did. They were very professional and polite. Their price is very competitive compared to the other bids I got. I made a mistake when I told them the type of siding. Alejandro had to go to the lumberyard and get the right siding and return the siding he originally bought and brought with him. The invoice matched the bid, and there was no extra charge for my mistake. He also took pictures of the plywood that needed replacement, and the finished job from up on the roof. I highly recommend Eco-siding.

Completely satisfied with the job. Contractor worked with my time schedule and when I needed the work completed.
Description of Work: LP siding (4x8 sheets) on 3 sides of the home needed to be replaced. Had already replaced front and garage myself, but because of a recent stroke, could not perform the remaining work. Required the job to be done in two phases. First phase was one side of the house prior to installation of a ductless heat pump system. This siding was replaced on schedule and on time to allow it to be painted in a weekend and immediately follow with the heat pump installation. Second phase was for the remaining two sides. All work was performed on schedule, correctly, and with complete cleanup.

This project was a total failure. I first contacted Ecoside LLC through Angie?s List and received the following email from Alejandro: ?Thank you for contacting us. We install/replace siding on piece work basis. At this time we are taking a additions or complete walls/sections with a minimun of 200 sqf area of coverage. Sometimes, repairs don't qualified for piece work pricing. Please tell me little bit more about your project, or if send me a pic of the area you are interested to replace or repair I'll have a better idea. More likely you want to match existing siding, so also knowing the material is very helpful.? I then replied with the following email: ?I have been told the house has OSB siding and there are a few areas (over garage & around chimney) that have water damage because these were not kept sealed. I just started this project and have not decided on a solution (section/wall) and I am not informed of other available products at this time. I would prefer to retain the original siding since most of it appears to be in very good condition, but I am not sure how much needs to be replaced. Another contractor that looked over our house came up with a total of 458 sq ft needing replacement. Please let me know if you need any further information.? Alejandro wanted to look over the siding, so I provided our address and we scheduled a meeting. Two days after our meeting he sent an estimate with the following email: ?Thank you for the meeting on Tuesday. I am sending you attached the siding estimate. It includes cost, performance and time line duties. Please let me know if you have any questions.? I was satisfied with his estimate of $900 and sent him this email: ?I would like to proceed with the siding replacement for our house as specified by your proposal. According to the proposal the cost would be $900.00. Ecoside LLC is not authorized and will not be paid for any amount in excess of the total shown above without prior written authorization. Please let me know if this is agreeable and when we can proceed with this project.? Alejandro then responded with this email: ?I was double checking with my supplier, and I have a difference on the material price I quoted you before. I quoted you $300.00 but the actual cost is $600.00 considering a 300-350 square feet area. I am sorry, my mistake." I found this email somewhat unprofessional, since he should have checked with his supplier prior to submitting a written estimate. At this time, I did not think he was being dishonest and it was just an oversight, so I replied with the following email: ?It seems rather strange you would submit a written proposal without checking into supplier material costs. However, I am approving the additional amount of $300, for a project total of $1,200. Please let me know when you can begin on this siding project.? After giving him the ?green light? a second time; much to my surprise he sent the following email: ?I am sorry you feel that way (as I said, we don't usually work with lp siding). I dont feel confortable with your email as I have previously admitted my mistake. If you compare other bids, as you probably already have, you know that I was lowest one. Therefore, I am pulling out my bid. I am very sorry, I wasted your time,? I really thought at this point there was just a miscommunication, so I sent the following email: ?Your email is rather puzzling. I merely stated that it is strange to get a contractor?s written proposal without checking into supplier material costs first. You did apologize and admit a mistake had been made, so I assumed this to be true and approved the additional amount. This is all that is stated in my previous email.? ?I did not express the way I feel. If I thought you were trying to be dishonest, you would not be offered any business by me even if you were the lowest bidder. I am not interested in doing business with dishonest contractors. This is bad for good contractors and customers alike. Generally, I am looking for a good honest contractor that will do an excellent job on the complete project and I will pay for these professional services according to the written agreement. Please let me know if my previous email was misunderstood and you would like to reconsider pulling your bid or if I should select another contractor.? His reply: ?Please select another contractor.? I now feel this contractor did not like being told that I would not pay for any amount in excess of the total shown on the estimate without prior written authorization. I would not use this contractor and if you do, be very careful.

Response from Eco-side LLC - Siding Made Easy
I am sorry you feel that way. In fact, no one should pay for any amount in excess of the estimate, without prior autorization. Once we start any job, we always honor the price given. It doesn't matter if we lose money. (this happened before the job). The converstion as the member quoted it was correct (explanations apart).

We contacted EcoSide as a last ditch attempt to find an affordable contractor to help us replace the siding on the southern exposure side of our one and a half story home. The original 1970's cedar siding was warped & cracked and no longer repairable and we felt we were losing a lot of heat through this area as the largest square footage section of siding on our home. We actually thought there may not be sufficient insulation it got to cool in the winter near that wall. Previous quotes (3 others) were extremely over priced and we got the distinct sense the other contractors weren't interested in doing a partial residing job. Due the the one and a half story height of our home the upper section is probably 25 feet high and we were very worried about safely doing this on our own. However we just weren't willing to pay the prices other contractors were asking and were preparing to buy materials and do the job on our own when Alejandro returned my message and offered to stop by to give a quote. He assessed the job and we discussed the options for siding materials. We wanted to use cement siding so it would be maintenance free for years to come and he said that would be no problem, but did point out that the warranty required it be hung at a specific overhang that would make this siding slightly out of alignment with the other sides. I appreciated that he was up front about this, and we decided to go ahead anyhow as it wasn't a major concern for us. Alejandro gave us a price quote on the spot that was very reasonable. We were so thankful not to have to undertake this job on our own! He said they could start within a week and have it done within 2 days. We mentioned that we wanted to find out what was underneath our old siding in case the insulation needed replacing. He was very flexible and said they could tear down on the first day and come back later if we needed time to install insulation (they don't do that). The crew showed up on schedule and began with the tear down on the first day. They installed scaffolding in the side yard to reach the upper sections of the house. It turned out the insulation was fine... with the old warped siding the air was just coming right into the wall space. I spoke with Alejandro by phone that evening and suggested we install sheathing under the siding for an extra $300 (material & labor). We liked his suggestion and they were back the next day with all the materials in hand. The 2 man crew did and an excellent job. They arrived on time each morning and continued working until 6 each evening to get the job done within 2 days even with the additional sheathing job. They even detached the side gate from the house and re-installed it after the job was finished. All of their workmanship was top notch. They were organized and cleaned up at the end of each day. Also, now that the weather has gotten cooler we have definately noticed less heat loss and noise coming in from outside the house. We highly recommend EcoSide to others looking for a reputable contractor.
Description of Work: Alejandro's crew performed the tear down of old cedar siding on our southern exposure home exterior. Then they installed sheathing and paper before putting up the pre-primed fiber cement siding using scaffolding to reach the 2nd story. The crew also replaced the trim molding around the 2nd story window and added flashing. The final step involved caulking the seams and screw heads and complete yard cleanup & hauling of debris.

I met with Alejandro in August to get an estimate on removing and replacing the siding on a home. Much of the siding had been removed on the back of the house by an earlier contractor who had left the job without completing it. I explained that I still needed to get rodents removed and insulation put into the house before doing the siding, but I needed it done before the weather changed. His estimate came in about $2,000 less than the other bids I got. I spoke with him the following week to let him know that I wanted his company to do the work, and I would let him know when the other work would be completed. Once the insulation was put into the walls, I called Alejandro to let him know the house was ready whenever he was able to start. He gave me an estimate on the time they would be able to start. They were not able to start until a few days past the time he had originally estimated. Since I had bare wood on the back of the house, I asked if he could put paper on it if the weather got really bad in the meantime. It rained the following weekend, not hard enough that I was concerned. They went over that weekend and put paper on the back of the house without my calling and asking him to do it. The next week they started the job. The house turned out beautifully. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. He went above and beyond what he had put in his original estimate without charging me. There was a pile of siding in the back yard from the previous contractor that I asked him to haul away if there was room in his trailer. He hauled that siding and cleaned the entire area up without additional charges. There was a circuit breaker box in the carport, that he offered to cover with a door. He framed around it and made the door without charging me. It looks so much nicer. They cleaned up around the house and it looks wonderful. I would use this company again in the future.

After i received my estimate and asked Alejandro to do the work, he said he would be happy to take care of it. He also said he had a couple of jobs to finish up and he could start on mine in about two weeks. That was fine with me ,as I was in no hurry. He called me within that time frame, and said he could start the next day , but his material supplier was out of stock on some material that would take about a week to get. He would start the job and would finish when the material arrived. The actual job only took two days to complete, with the down time it took eight days. There was one part of the job I wasn't satisfied with, so Alejandro came back the next day and took care of it. The whole experience was very satisfactory. The price, the quality of worksmanship, the ease of working with Alejandro was great! When I'm ready to have vinyl siding put on the rest of the house I will call Alejandro.
Description of Work: I had Ecoside owner, Alejnardo, give me an estimate to install vinyl siding on the south and west sides of my house. I also had two other estimates, Ecoside was the best.

After looking at my project, Ecoside LLC responded the next day (via email) with a professionally written estimate which detailed their proposal to install the siding. The house has 35 windows, knee braces and a recessed porch, all requiring lots of precision cuts, especially around the window sill tails. From the onset the 2 man crew worked well together. Their work routine was consistent day to day. They completed a fairly complicated installation within the proposed time frame. They crew was friendly, informative and communicated well. More importantly, they discovered and resolved problems that enhanced the professional quality and look of the finished project. These included including adjusting for out of square walls and windows and a settled foundation on one corner of the house. Both men were clearly well trained and well experienced. We are very pleased with the result. This company deserves a place on your short list of bidders.
Description of Work: Ecoside LLC installed fiber-cement lap siding on my 1920 craftsman bungalow and detached garage. The crew used professional grade equipment, including scaffolding and conformed with appropriate construction site safety practices, in particular the consistent use of safety eyeware, dust masks and rooftop safety harnesses. The two man crew maintained a clean worksite, cleaned up every day and made a conscious effort to protect the integrity of adjacent gardens and lawns. On this project, the homeowner supplied all the material except nails and caulking.
