CAROL IVAN

Carol is an absolute professional with a wide range of IT skills that she applies in helping solve problems. I am a self-employed consultant who travels a lot, and have no IT support other than what I can find online. Carol's service was targeted precisely at my needs for home computing/home networking; the best thing is she visited my home and was able to perform all the needed updates and repairs on-site. Of the 15 or so contractors/professionals I have worked with from Angie's List (all have been good) she provided the most valuable service; her update of my existing computer probably saved me from having to spend $2,000 on a new computer for another 1-2 years...

I contacted Carol because my computer wasn't working. She came out and diagnosed problem. I needed a new computer. She gave me tips on my replacement. When my new computer arrived, she came back and set it up. This is windows 7. I asked for and she gave me some wonderful tips on file maintence/backup; new features in Windows 7 etc. etc. Very pleased with her work

I called Carol, in desperation, one Friday night and she was very helpful and congenial on the phone, preliminarily advising me as to what to do until she arrived (three days later.) On the day of the appointment, she arrived punctually and immediately set to work. She was incredible at explaining her findings and answered questions from my two young adult children and me. All of us felt extremely comfortable with her and very confident in her abilities. Most importantly, my system seems to be running wonderfully now. I highly recommend Carol Ivan!

She helped clean up our computers. We were having a problem with the virus. We were very impressed. She was extremely knowledgeable and fast. She was good at explaining things. She came as soon as she could; she could not just drop everything and come. The price was reasonable.

Service was great. There were some difficulties with internet connection after she left and she made a second trip back out. She ended up waiving the trip fee on the second trip which was very helpful.

My computer was a mess, she cleaned it up and was very knowledgeable. She showed us how to keep to clean. It was an excellent experience.

My experience was excellent. She arrived at my home promptly, listened to my requests, read between the lines of my request and then proceeded to what was asked and much more. She followed up with a phone call the next day to see if I had any questions. Like may people of my age (way past 60) it had not been totally retained and she proceeded to re-explain and/or answer my questions. A few follow up calls on my part have been promptly answered. I think I may have a few more questions and I am sure the experience will be the same.

This was the first time I'd called Carol about the alarming message that I was running low on virtual memory, and the problems getting a second or third screen. On the New York Times, I was able to access it on the web, but couldn't access any of the articles. Whole thing froze a number of times. I write and publish books, and have a number of books in various stages of writing/publication on my PC and am always on deadline, so this smacked of disaster. Carol diagnosed and fixed this parameter problem first, then went ahead to tune up my computer and fix all the problems listed above. My previous tech (not Angie's list) hadn't and had even created one problem, so I was really overdue for all this work. The last task was an extremely long installation. We didn't think it was necessary for her to stay the rest of the time, I paid her, but then she decided to babysit the rest of the last installation anyway which took about three-quarters of an hour longer for which she refused payment. She wanted to be sure that the corrections she'd made would hold after the installation. They did. Carol impressed me as a perfectionist taking great pride in her work and enjoying it as well. I'd never met her before, but if you need a guardian angel for your computer, if you tend to have a break down when your computer has one, I highly recommend her. Can't think of don'ts. P.S. Any incorrect terminology is mine, not Carol's.

She came to our house promptly at the exact scheduled time. She went right to work on solving our problems and explained the work clearly. She charged $80 an hour, was here for an hour and a half -- until all the work was done. Didn't try to do a selling job on anything at all. Just helped!

Carol came right on time, and performed a thorough cleaning of my computer including checking out both the admin and user problems I was having. She showed me a better way of dealing with pictures that I scan and helped me very much to get a fresh start.

I emailed Carol late on Monday to request work on my computer, and she emailed back Tuesday morning to say that she could fit me in Tuesday afternoon. She was professional, and focused - when she was going to be a little behind schedule because of the work she was completing in the morning, she called to let me know her expected arrival time. I have to say that having her come to my home to clean up the computer was a huge plus (compared to packing my computer up and bringing it in somewhere) as I telework from home two days a week, and this ensured that my computer got cleaned up with no down time for me. She answered all of my questions, and gave recommendations for freeware products that were well rated to use for backup and security. I also learned, from watching her, how to troubleshoot error messages. Overall, she was very thorough and went through my list of things that I needed checked, and indicated that if there were any followup problems, to let her know. I would definitely hire Carol again.

I emailed Carol and heard back almost immediately. She suggested times to meet and accomodated my work schedule. She arrived in just a few days, immediately after the holiday weekend. She went straight to work, answered my questions and provided suggestions. Highly professional in her attitude.

I contacted Carol because of the great reviews she received on Angie's List and my experience was as positive as everyone else who has raved about her. Carol spent time consulting with me over the phone first to get an idea of what work needed to be done, gave me an estimate of how long it would take to complete the work, and when I decided to invest in an external hard drive, she even went to Fry's with me to select the best one for my needs. While she is clearly a technical whiz, she is also great at explaining what needs to be done without confusing me with PC jargon. If you want quick response and excellent service, Carol is the person to call.

computer crashed, Carol answered (in person!) worked us in on next day (Sat) worked in house 3 hours, and at home for 1 hour. Returned on Sun to reinstall and educate. All fixed in 24 hours!!!

She is very helpful, honest and reliable. Her prices are very reasonable, $80 an hour. I would highly recommend to others.

Excellent results. I expected the computer to be with her for a week or longer, but she had it back to me in two days. All my pictures, stored emails, contacts, everything fully intact. It runs much quicker. It's like getting a new computer. She did not reinstall McAfee but instead put in AVG. She indicated it was free and worked better than McAfee. She is excellent to work with and very willing to answer any of my silly questions.

Carol got right down to work. She went down my list of requests, and suggested other improvements. She answered questions clearly.

Carol chatted with us briefly to find out how we used our computer. She then deleted programs we didn't need, advised us an a different antivirus program, cleaned our hard drive, etc. When she was done, she explained what she had done. She patiently and clearly showed me how to make a copy and scan an image. She also answered my questions about buying a laptop, backing up files, and anything else our our minds.

She fixed the laptop and answered questions I had about a second computer, features type etc.

Overall, Carol is VERY knowledgeable and she quickly completed all the tasks we asked for and many more. She's also very pleasant, courteous and patient. She knows what she's doing. Hire her, you won't be sorry.

I am very behind in my knowledge of computers. I am a rare person in that I have not fallen in love with computers, so my motivation lags behind the average high-tech citizen. Carol was very patient and understanding and worked with me at my very basic level of comprehension. She gave me excellent advise on possible up-grades to my computer and she also was willing to offer suggestions on a possible purchase of a printer in the future. She also was willing to help me set things up if the instructions confused or intimidated me. I would highly recommend her if you are like me and a bit embarrassed at my lack of computer knowledge. She will patiently explain everything to you. I plan to call her again once I feel the need to buy a printer.

Everything was excellent. She did exactly what she said she would do, and she gave us her rates before she even began. She was very thorough in her work, and she explained everything that she was doing. We called her on a Sunday afternoon, and she was here the next morning. We were very happy with her.
