+ 0 moreCame to house 2 days after phone call. Has a minimum hourly charge. Due to her excellent communication skills, was able to identify problem quickly, and made repairs under the hour. To fill the time, she offered to clean up files on the computer. Emailed her a week later with problem with Outlook, which she solved remotely, without charge.
Description of Work: Repaired dysfunctional cable internet connection, repaired wireless network, transferred data from one mail server to another.

+ -1 moreShe came exactly on time and sat right down and for about 30 minutes investigated the machine. She told me she felt it was a snappy computer (based on its performance in safe mode) and worth fixing up. She then spent the next two hours fixing it up. She even set up a separate login for my young son so he cannot do any administrative damage.
Description of Work: Carol came to my home in the early evening and took a 4-year old sluggishly performing computer and got it up to speed. She did everything from uninstall software to blow out dust. She explained everything she did and asked questions about my goals for the computer that helped focus her work.

+ -1 moreShe was absolutely great. I cant remember the price. However, it was a difficult job that she did. We even went to Best Buy and got my memory enhanced. I would definitely use her again in the future.
Description of Work: She reconfigured my computer. The McAfee Anti-virus was not working and she installed Zone Alarm Anti-spyware and Anti-virus. It took her a few hours but she got it working.

+ -1 moreCarol was absolutely amazing! I was in a very desperate situation and thought I may have lost my entire business. Carol was determined not to let that happen. Every time she came up against a roadblock, she managed to work her way through it and come up with another solution. She never got frustrated or even considered giving up. When she realized the process was going to be an all day one, she canceled her afternoon appointment in order to get me back up and running that day. I am forever grateful to Carol for helping me save my business.
Description of Work: I had a major computer issue with my home-based business and Carol saved the day. She basically had to rebuild my entire system, reinstall everything that was on it before, make sure everything was there that needed to be and that it was working properly. It took her 7 hours to complete the job and she never gave up.

+ -1 moreI was having difficulty getting on to the internet and once I was on, I always lost the connection after a few minutes. Carol is extremely knowledgeable and easily diagnosed the problems. The process took a long time because my computer was so slow. I called her when I was still having problems and she suggested I call my highspeed internet provider. The repair person came out and reduced the speed slightly and the problem was solved.
Description of Work: Carol cleaned up my computer and installed a better spyware program and firewall. She also suggested that I increase the memory which I did.

+ -1 moreCarol is the best. Kind, knowledgeable, and willing to do whatever it takes to try and solve the problem. She came to our house and was great about getting right to work. My problem required a specific item she didn't have with her so she took the hard drive home with her and continued working to resolve the problem. Just when all hope was fading, she came through with a miraculous solution and was able to rescue all the data I figured would be lost forever. We have used other repair services in the past and none measured up to this. She is truly a delight and we already booked her to come clean up our other computer.
Description of Work: My laptop hard drive had a meltdown. Needed the data extracted and transferred to a new computer. Also needed the new computer configured for optimal use and software installed.

+ -1 moreCarol came in and I told her the story and my concern about reloading everything. She ultimately ran check disk and did it properly. It worked! The bad spots on my disk were marked and I just had to uninstall and then reinstall MS Money. Carol is a gem!
Description of Work: I had a hard disk problem that caused my computer to slow way down (I banged it on my desk while in MS Money). I couldn't get into MS Money and into McAfee Security Center. I tried to run a check disk but didn't do it correctly. I didn't want to take it into a regular computer shop because they usually just reload everything and it takes me several days to update all the software which is a pain.

She was very professional and friendly as well as knowledgeable and thorough. During the process of setting up the wireless security she discovered a non-working device and she conveniently had a spare one to set up. The job was completed in a reasonable length of time and followed up with friendly emails as well as an offer for FREE email support. We would not hesitate to use her again!!
Description of Work: Carol came to our home and secured our wireless network on four computers. While she was here she also fixed a couple of other problems we didn't even know we had!

Her prices are very reasonable, and she usually knows where to get hardware and software for the lowest prices. She has responded quickly to our calls, arrives on time, and stays until the work is done. According to her web site, Carol started in the technology business in the 1970's and has worked with a wide variety of systems- mainframes to terminals to PCs- and across many generations of operating systems. This works out well for us since there has been no computer hardware, software, or networking problem she hasn't been able to fix or problem-solve for us. And she doesn't automatically reformat our drive or buy new hardware. She's respectful of the hardware and data configuration we have- she just makes it work.
Description of Work: Carol Ivan has helped our family with the purchase and maintenance of three personal computers and two home networks since 1999. To decide which computer to buy, she interviews us to learn what we want to do with the computer so that she can ensure we have enough memory, processing speed, software, and hardware features to execute what we want to do now and in the future. Once the computer arrives, she helps us set it up the way we want. She also set-up one hardwire system with firewalls in our last home and a secure wireless network in our new home. Both systems have worked beautifully, although she had to solve different problems to get each one up and running. Most recently, she fixed a problem with my computer's speed that wasn't related to spyware, adware, or a virus. She stayed two hours and only charged me $100. Her rates are very reasonable and she arrived within a day of my request.
