We can't say enough about Dave and the work that he and his crew did for us. They were unfailingly thoughtful, communicative, and we love everything that they did for us. Dave was always willing to listen to our ideas, and able to provide an educated and helpful response. He was flexible about working with someone to get our fireplace installed and his crew was always doing what they said they would do, when they said they would do it. Our only wish is that we could afford to have them do more.

We met with Alex Adolfi soon after that and provided him preliminary plans done by a designer/architect. He sent an email in November saying he would like to meet with us to discuss ways to do the renovations within our budget. We couldn't meet until after Thanksgiving so, in an email dated November 25, 2013, we asked him to send us his thoughts in an email. The next email we received was January 6, 2014 asking if we were still interested. We had already found someone else so we declined.

Carlisle Classic Homes was the contractor for our Community Power Works efficiency upgrades. We were lucky to have Dave Pelton assigned as Project Manager. Individuals working on the project were professional, experienced, skillful and genial. Floors and walls were protected and work areas were cleared up at the end of the day. The activities did not interfere with our day to day household routines. Dave found the right systems and fixtures for the house. We have lived with the results for several months and can report that everything is working the way it's supposed to. There are no longer variations in temperature throughout the house, the heat pump provides a nice consistent heat, the air conditioning worked great in August. and we love the toilets. We would definitely work with Carlisle Classic Homes again if Dave and his crew were managing the project.

As an architect, I have worked with many small contractors and have had a variety of experieinces. Carlisle did, by far, the best quality work, in a reasonable time frame and kept the house clean which working in all rooms. I have had the opportunity to refer them to others which I do unequivocally. My husband and I don't look for the cheapest price but rather for the best value--which we received in both service and product. Our contact was Peter Butler. Peter was exceptional in keeping us informed of the status of the project every step of the way. The house was well protected from the dust and dirt. The cost of the project was very reasonable for the quality of the work that was done.
Description of Work: Carlisle did a variety of "small" things for us including installing an overhead fan, steam shower (had to be wired from the basement up to the 3rd floor), rewaterproofed an exterior wall (removed and replaced siding) and reset a door that had become warped. They even came back without question when we had trouble with our old electrical system and the interface with the steamer.

We could not be more pleased with the work that Carlisle did on our home. The craftsmanship is excellent and they treated our home as if it were their own. They were careful around our pets, cleaned meticulously throughout the process, and were flexible and considerate of our varying schedules. Huge kudos to our Project Manager, Dave Pelton, for his superior communication skills, and genuine kindness and professionalism. Dave visited with us several times, including bringing in the owner of the company, Rob Carlisle for additional consultation and design options, an HVAC rep to evaluate our home and present and explain the available options, and helped us prioritize our wish list to get the most out of the Craft3 program. He continually updated us throughout the project with the timeline of what work was being done and which of his crew would be there to perform the work. Rich was the lead carpenter for our project, and he did an outstanding job, working with a home that is anything but square, and doing whatever it took to make sure the job was done right. Dave squeezed all that he could out of our budget and took great care of us We highly recommend Carlisle for any project that you have, and make sure to ask for Dave! -Brian and Katherine
Description of Work: We found Carlisle through the Community Power Works Craft3 Program, which is an energy-efficiency remodel program. They met with us multiple times prior to starting the project to discuss our goals and options. Our home is a 1918 built home that had no insulation in the walls or basement, so we had insulation blown into the upstairs walls, and spray foam insulation added to the walls in the basement (along with air-sealing the many nooks and cranny's, and insulating the crawlspaces). We also had the door to our back yard replaced with French doors, the basement door replaced, and three windows replaced. When they replaced the basement door and window, they reinforced the joists and added more structural support to a sagging floor above, and had to work with a crooked, twisted door frame that took some engineering and ingenuity to install the new door and window. The largest expense in the project was the new high-efficiency ductless heat pump heating and cooling system that was installed. Lastly, we had our bedroom Murphy-bed closet built out to a more standard depth.

The work went perfectly. They laid out the tasks and prices. We met every couple weeks. Mostly they pointed out things they were working on. They asked us to make some decisions and would always give advice when asked. And they got it all done on the time schedule with all details covered. We did not see them go back and correct anything. It just seemed to get done perfectly on time the first time. This is what friends had advised us to expect and Carlisle Classic Homes lived up to those exceedingly high expectations. Carlisle Classic Homes exhibited the highest professionalism and knowledge of their craft. At the same time they were very nice and personable. They clearly liked each other and their work. They enjoyed doing a good job. One member took us up on our offer to have him bring his wife by to see what he had built. They would spend as much time meeting with us as we wanted, meeting early or late, and not have to rush off but instead listen to all of our comments.

The project was about 10 weeks long, started right on time and finished within a week of schedule. We had several add-ons like extra painting, added some hardwood flooring, tankless water heater, which extended the timeline a few days. Jeremy was fantastic. He was always on time, very professional and gave us great ideas and guidance. The quality of the work was outstanding and they tried their best to contain the dust and debris. All the subcontractors did quality work and careful to protect the work area. We love our open concept kitchen with the center island and will for years to come. Thank you Carlisle for making the remodel such a pleasant experience!

This review is very overdue--Carlisle completed their work two years ago, and I've been meaning to write this review ever since, but keep forgetting!! Carlisle was professional from start to finish. Jeremy was our project manager and he was fabulous. He was very responsive via e-mail and phone and kept us up to date on all progress and issues as we went along. The workers were on time with all parts of the project and did excellent work. Jeremy also worked well with the condo building concierge to make sure that his crew was adhering to all the building requirements and restrictions. I can't recommend them enough--Carlisle is great!!!!

It was very easy to work with Jeremy and Carlisle Classic Homes. They worked very hard to accomodate our tight timeline, and we felt comfortable leaving the details to the crew. We started with a architect's floor plan, and worked with Jeremy to come up with a final product that met our needs and our budget. A few points stand out in particular. We had waterproofing done by another contractor prior to Carlisle starting their work, but at our request Jeremy stepped in and coordinated some of the work, which was definitely above and beyond. Everyone on-site was professional and courteous, and quick to respond if we had any concerns. We had changes initiated by us that were dealt with reasonably. Jeremy always listened to our concerns and had an excellent sense of cost. As with any construction job, not everything went according to plan, but at every turn they worked with us to problem-solve and come up with agreeable solutions that met our budget. We are very pleased with the final product. The only downside of Carlisle was that the price was more expensive than what others had quoted us, but it was as hassle free as a construction project goes and they came in on budget. We enjoyed working with Jeremy and Carlisle Classic Homes and would definitely work with them again.

They were very professional. The quote came in about double our budget so we did not contract with them. It seems that this company is better suited to larger jobs, as they have project management overhead. The quote had some things in it that were overkill for our job. (i.e. masking the site, and daily cleaning fees that were a lot considering that the location is already isolated). We went with our original home builder who quoted nearly half the cost

After obtaining three bids for our kitchen remodel, I chose Carlisle. Our project manager, Jeremy, gave a proposal price that was in line with others, but he was also able to provide guidance on kitchen design. He was very friendly, professional, and always easy to communicate with. Our project was done on-time and under budget! Jeremy kept us informed every step of the way, and him and his workers were respectful of our home during the remodel. I would recommend Carlisle to anyone considering a kitchen or bathroom remodel.

Love these guys. Their bid was detailed & accurate as was their timeline. The Project Manager, Alex, was easy to deal with & very accessible The Site Manager, Chris, was hardworking, friendly, & very conscious of the fact that we were living in, whilst all the work was going on. I feel like Carlisle was the perfect choice for us. They understand the older, period homes but are also up on the latest building technology. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Huge remodel of a turn-of-the-century home that had been through a century's worth of bad remodels. Whole main floor (except kitchen & dining room) gutted then restored to a better-but-true-to-it's-origins state: new windows, new sheet rock, new floors, rebuilding of structural integrity, removal of drop ceilings, new trim milled to match original, new wardrobe, entire library, new front door & back doors, full bath. Remodeled the downstairs to give us a larger master closet. Built 2 car detached garage.

It went great. There was a minor hiccup with a communication breakdown at the end of the project, but that was resolved very quickly -- and only served to make us realize how smoothly everything really went. They did a great job and we'd hire them again in a heartbeat.

They had to do it from scratch as there was no foundation or anything. They would have to dig the dirt out, pour the concrete and basically put a basement underneath our house where there was no basement. For everything completely done including a new kitchen down there was going to cost $130000 which is why we have not done it yet. I thought they were very professional. I thought their price was fair because we asked other contractors for estimates. The guys were really nice. I felt comfortable since I am home a lot without my fiancé. I felt comfortable with them being in my house. For me that was a big deal instead of having some weird guys I would have been very uncomfortable. I felt that I could trust them and they just seemed to be a hallowed company. The owner came, the guy who would be on the project came and we liked them. Price wise we found it a fair price. If we go ahead with the project we would like to use them.

Carlise was first rate. Upon removing the old deck, they discovered substantianl damage to the main support beams. They did a wonderful job explaining the damage and completing the work. Of course, this increased the price by fifty percent. Our major complaint is that Carlisle decided to sub out the work on the deck railings. While they apparently do this often, we were disappointed by the work. The top of the railing was initially installed upside-down and had to be redone. In addition, the materials used seem to be of a lower standard than the wood used for the deck as well as the wood from the 24-year-old railings that were replaced. While the railing now looks fines, it is the only aspect of the job with which we were disappointed.
Description of Work: We contacted them because our 24- year-old deck appeared to be damaged on one side. We decided that the wisest solution was to replace the entire deck. Carlise removed the old deck, replaced most of the support beams, rebuilt the entire deck and railings. Damage discovered during the work increased the overall cost by more than 50%.. .

Carlisle was very professional and trustworthy for the entire project. They did a great job of working with us on plans and designs, and respecting and understanding the direction we wanted to take the project. All of their employees and contractors were good to work with and took great care of our home while working on it. The project made very smooth progress, with only one minor unexpected revision adding a slight cost along the way. After several bad experiences with remodel contractors, we were very relieved that Carlisle delivered what they said they would and were super competent. We never doubted that Carlisle could handle any situation that came up during the remodel. They weren't the cheapest bid on the project, but I have a feeling the lower cost bids would have found a way to creep up into the same price in the end. With Carlisle you definitely get what you pay for. We will definitely work with them again on our next project.
Description of Work: Extensive home remodel to turn a duplex into a single family home. It was a pretty large project involving building a new stairwell, relocating electrical and plumbing, reconfiguring walls, doing several new beams and other structural work, installing new windows, exterior drainage work, building a porch, new siding, foundation work, blending new work into old hardwood for a consistent look, new trim and molding.

For our first job, Carlisle Classic Homes gave us an accurate bid up front that we chose even though it was slightly more than competitors because of their suggestions and commitment to quality and professionalism. It was worth every penny and I am without an ounce of regret. Lower estimates were clearly "low ball" offers that would later cost more, had significantly less thought and thoroughness, and offered no suggestions other than what we had researched ourselves. We got so much more for our dollar compared to other contractors because Carlisle Classic Homes worked with us on the plan, added ideas, kept the whole process transparent, and were simply consumate professionals. Two years later we had an idea for additonal work that needed a contractor. I didn't need to seek any other estimates because I had found the people who I trust with my house to do a good job. The process was the same with the second job incuding valuable suggestions, transparent negotiations to get what we wanted without cutting corners, and a finished product that literally exceeded our expectations. When I get to needing a third area renovated, I will be making one phone call to Carlisle Classic Homes without hesitation.
Description of Work: Carlisle Classic homes has done two separate projects for our 1917 bungalow home. Both have been superior experiences and I would not hesitate to call them again when we are ready for more professional work (because I'm tired of looking at my own renovations). The first job was a revision of the exterior facade of our home which is South facing and hence weather-worn. They not only listened to our wish list, but suggested things we had not considered and gave us options based upon similar experiences that led to a great result. The exterior cedar shakes, wood porch, wrought iron railings for steps, garage door, repaired and insulated windows, matching paint, and exterior light have significantly improved our curb appeal without sacrificing any character or style. The second job involved renovating a master bedroom closet, insulating walls, adding storm windows, and plastering walls to original (or better) appearances. They did a fantastic job salvaging old doors and fixtures, matched the hardwood floors in the closet, and even compromised with us to replace wallpaper that couldn't survive the moisture associated with new plaster even though it was protected. The whole project came in right on budget. We now have warm, classic appearing, North-facing bedrooms with gorgeous windows, doors, and trim. I feel better knowing we have preserved the style but also have cut down on heat loss and noise significantly. If you are interested in preserving the classic bungalow style with high quality workmanship and professionalism beyond compare, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Carlisle Classic Homes.

They excelled in every aspect of the job, giving us a bathroom that looks like something out of Architectural Digest. Our project manager was Peter Butler. They kept appointments, made helpful suggestions in shopping for fixtures and hired excellent subs that did great work. They were very conscious of cleanliness, including dust mitigation; we lived in the condo throughout the job. Peter found small items for a correction that we didn't even notice. The final cost amazingly close to the original estimate. They completed the work within the estimated time frame, even adapting to a last minute change we requested. The company was referred by a friend, and we have referred the company to more friends. We look forward to using them again on our next project.
Description of Work: Carlisle remodeled the bathroom of our Belltown condo to make it disabled accessible. This involved demolishing the old bathroom and installing a new shower with a bench and wand, grab bars around the toilet, as well as new walls, extra studs, tile and paint.

It went very well. I talked to several contractors and they were the only one I felt had a good understanding of the complexities of the job and a feasible plan of how to accomplish it. The workers on the job were very courteous and cleaned up at the end of each day. The cost did end up being more than I initially was quoted, but this was mainly due to things I added or unanticipated issues that came up. I felt they did a good job of keeping me informed of cost increases.
Description of Work: We have a 1907 house with a front porch that is also the roof of part of the basement. The original wood porch had been covered by plywood at some point, but it was worn out and leaked into the basement below whenever we had heavy rainfall. Due to settling of the structure, the water on the porch pooled towards the center of the house instead of flowing to the exterior. Carlisle Classic Homes removed existing 2 layers of porch flooring and modified the framing to achieve drainage towards the perimeter. They then installed a new plywood deck and scuppers (drains through the exterior wall). We had another contractor apply fiberglass waterproofing to the plywood. Carlisle repaired the parapet walls around the porch, installed some new siding and moldings and reinforced the structural support for some of the columns. They also fixed the wooden front door and replaced our wood steps with concrete steps, rebuilding the stair sidewalls to match the historical photograph.
